Part of screen is frozen

Yesterday for some reason when I went to my recents folder the "clear All Recents" screen popped up and I have cleared the calls but the screen will not go away even when I press cancel!!! Very frustrating because when I make a call this pops up and I cannot disconnect from a call without hitting the off button on top of the phone.
What can I do about this?

Take it back.

My son has nothing but problems with his iPad Mini. It is less than a year old and it constantly freezes/crashes/glitches and parts of the screen are unresponsive. This happens while playing games, watching movies, surfing the net etc etc
The iPad has been in a heavy duty Survivor case from day 1 and has been very well taken care of - so I don't think it's a damage issue
I have tried numerous resets (just holding the 2 buttons) and have disabled every feature on the iPad that might be causing memory/RAM issues (?) all to no avail.
I haven't tried resetting to factory settings as I don't want to lose all the data on the iPad (mostly his game achievements and Minecraft maps that he has worked so hard on!!!)
SO - any suggestions:
1) Take it in to the Apple Store - I have never gone to Apple over an issue, is this possibly covered by warranty???
2) Factory Reset - If I do this can I save all his game achievements/data???

Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. Iphone 4s screen is frozen

help. My new iphone 4s screen is frozen.

I'm experiencing the same problem.
Twice now, my iPhone 4S was in a sort of "deep sleep" mode and has had a screen that would not wake up.
Underneath the blank and black screen, the phone itself seems to be working as I tried calling my iPhone from another phone, but my 4S still did not wake up, nor did it sound the ringtone.
By holding the on/off key and the home button for about 10 seconds, the phone started again (Apple logo) and asked for my passcode. Funny enough, it did NOT ask me for my PIN number to unlock the SIM card (which it normally does when I reboot my iPhone), so somehow that part of the phone has remained active.
As I said, this happened twice to me, both before and after the 5.1.1 update, so that doesn't seem to have anything to do with it.
The bad thing of course is that I don't know when my iPhone does into some kind of "deep sleep" mode, so when somebody tries to call me I'm unreachable, yet the other person trying to call me simply thinks I'm ignoring his call.

If it's just Safari that's frozen then try clearing ites cache : Settings > Safari > Clear Cookies And Data and also Clear History
If that doesn't work then try closing Safari completely and then re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with Safari 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Safari app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
A third option is a reset (or if the whole iPad is frozen) : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider if it appears), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

My "settings" screen is frozen ... everything else is working

All of the apps are working, but the settings screen is frozen and would not allowed me to select any options ...

My email screen has frozen what to do to fix

Hi can anyone help me please? My email screen has frozen so can't move the page up or down to read content. Can't access any other emails from the open page however I can go to notifications at top of page to open a new email but then same thing...screen frozen and I can't scroll up or down. Help!

I am having the SAME exact problem! Except instead of lock button broken it's my home button so I can't do the whole "put in recovery mode" deal. My screen only says "tap the home button 3 times" and it has my screen locked until I hit the home button but since it is broken I can't get in my phone at all. Before you can use the iPod you have to activate it by connecting it to a computer with iTunes. Try the following to get your computer to see the iPod so you can activate the iPod.

Have you tried a hard reset yet to see if that makes a difference? To do this, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear. This may take a couple of tries.

Once again, KP is correct, but I just want to add that if you don't see the backup in the drop down menu on the summary page of iTunes when you choose the restore from backup option, then the backup is unfortunately gone. If you backup your computer, the iPad backup should probably be in that computer backup. I use Time Machine with my MacBook Pro and can access backups from months ago.
On a side note, I also archive backups from time to time. If you right click on a backup name in iTunes>Edit>Preferences>Devices (Windows) or iTunes>Preferences>Devices (Mac) you can save that backup or archive it. It will be date and time stamped. I have no idea why I do this to the degree that I do it, but I probably have 12-14 iPad backups archived in iTunes.

Try to reboot it. Hold down the sleep and home keys until you see the silver apple, about 20 seconds or so. It should reboot and work for you.
