Part of screen unresponsive?

I am having an intermitant issue with the rkght hand side of the screen not responding to touch any ideas?

Basic troubleshooting steps clearly outlined in the User Guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as NEW.
If you've been through ALL these steps and you still have problems, then you'll need to bring your phone into Apple.

iPad constantly glitching/freezing/crashing/parts of screen unresponsive - time for a factory reset OR a trip to the Apple store???
My son has nothing but problems with his iPad Mini.  It is less than a year old and it constantly freezes/crashes/glitches and parts of the screen are unresponsive.  This happens while playing games, watching movies, surfing the net etc etc
The iPad has been in a heavy duty Survivor case from day 1 and has been very well taken care of - so I don't think it's a damage issue
I have tried numerous resets (just holding the 2 buttons) and have disabled every feature on the iPad that might be causing memory/RAM issues (?)  all to no avail.
I haven't tried resetting to factory settings as I don't want to lose all the data on the iPad (mostly his game achievements and Minecraft maps that he has worked so hard on!!!)
    SO - any suggestions:
    1) Take it in to the Apple Store - I have never gone to Apple over an issue, is this possibly covered by warranty???
    2) Factory Reset - If I do this can I save all his game achievements/data???
    Cheers,
    Todd

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430

  • IPad 4 some parts of screen unresponsive

    Ello,
Occasionally some parts of the screen is unresponsive to touch, such as hyperlinks, but if I move the page up or down then touch again it does.  The address bar does something similar, no response when I type in an address, but then works if I click refresh.
Coincidentally, my friend has the same problem with her iPad Air.
    any ideas?

  • Parts of screen unresponsive?

Yesterday, my ipod was working fine. Today, when I went to unlock my ipod, it wouldn't unlock unless I swiped it really quickly. Assuming there was just some dirt on it, I didn't think much about it, until I tried to play a game and part of the screen wouldn't respond. Then, I tried to type something using the keyboard and not all of the letters would respond, either. The part of the screen that wouldn't respond during the game (and I tried a few other games, too) is just a little up and to the right of the center of the screen.
I tried turning my ipod on and off and resetting it, and neither worked. Is there anything else I can try, or do I have to send it in to Apple?

I purchased online through Apple Store a refurbished 16GB iPod Touch along with a rubberized protective case (just covers the back side) in early December 09. Within a week I noticed intermittent problems with the right side of the screen not responding. I eventually removed the rubberized protective case and it seemed as if the problem went away, so I assumed it was because the rubberized protective case was too tight. However, very intermittently it still happens, as it has just a about an hour ago, after trying to update a app, the unit was getting very warm, and of course the right side was not responsive, once the update was complete, I shut it down and after about 30 minutes of non use, the right side was once again responding. It seems to me that it is being caused by the processor working hard, and heat build up.
I have another question that revolves around the FAQ's listed in the previous reply, if I take it in to my local Apple Store, is it correct that they will hand me a replacement on the spot, or will it have to be sent in for repairs??
    --------- FROM FAQ's ---------
    3. Will the data on my iPod be preserved?
No. You will receive a replacement iPod that will not contain any of your data, songs, or after-market personalizations. Before you submit your iPod for service, it is your responsibility to keep a separate backup copy of the data stored on your iPod and reinstall that data.

  • Screen unresponsive momentarily, open app suddenly with iPhone 5 after update iOS 8.1.1

    2. Setting for sleep 1 minute , but after more than 1 minute still not sleep i have to press power button to make slleep.
    3. if i don't press home button for sleep suddenly iphone will open some application like mail, search app (type some letter), open passbook, play music and the stranger thing is suddenly make a call.
anyone else having this issue?   any solutions?
    iPhone 5, iOS 8, 64 GB

hi Franxis . . . below is what I had to do . . . I believe that my  crashing, perpetual rebooting and reset loops was due to some combination of my iPhone 5's hardware, iOS 8.1.1, and some applications.
I upgraded to iOS 8.1.1 upon release.   approx. 10 hours after this upgrade, the iPhone 5 displayed a bright white screen.  tried hard reset & phone would not turn on.  iPhone eventually turned on, to display lines & colors, but iPhone was inoperable - would not reset using sleep / home key combination or connection to  iTunes
I brought my iPhone to the Retail Store -  RS was able to reset phone, and then began the process of restoring from my last backup there & said it would continue throughout the day.  After the restore from backup completed, the crashing, perpetual rebooting and reset loops started again.
    1. I was eventually able to perform a DFU &  installed the phone as new (factory reset, I believe).
    2.  I did NOT perform a restore from backup.
    3. The phone seems to run fine now
The long story is that days 1-3, after the DFU / factory reset, the phone ran fine.  And, on day 4, I began installing Apps again.  When I installed the fourth App, and the phone crashed, changing colors, perpetually rebooting, and unable to start / get into a functional mode.   On day 4, I had to leave the phone alone for a while - was eventually able to perform another DFU - factory reset -  and again no restore from backup.  Today - day 5 - my iPhone is running fine again and I installed 11 Apps now (not the one that crashed my iPhone), accessed them all, and phone seems fine.
For me, it seems like an App, or some Apps that I was running caused the issues for me - it could be a combination of everything (certain Apps + iOS 8.1.1 + hardware not getting along).

  • HP 8620 Touch Screen Unresponsive - Firmware Software Bug?

Hello, I have the latest "firmware update" on the HP 8620. Can someone please confirm this bug? I don't know if it is just for the HP 8620 or if it applies to all HP touchscreens. Basically if you go into any setting option, then hit the "home" icon and right after you swipe either left or right, it ends up rendering your touch screen unresponsive to swiping left or right. Is this bug already a known issue? The only way to correct the touchscreen so it is responsive again is hit the question mark, or an icon on the bottom and hit the home button (without swiping left/right right after the home button).

Hi , Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I see that you're experiencing issues with your touchscreen on your HP Officejet Pro 8620 e-All-in-One Printer. I will certainly do my best to help you. Please confirm you have the latest Firmware Version: FDP1CN1502AR. If you do not, please go to HP's download page by clicking here. As far as I know, this is not a known issue with the printer or with the printer's Firmware Update. This could be a glitch in the touchscreen, which a Reset should resolve. Let's start by performing a Hard Reset.Leave the printer on and unplug the power cable from the printer and wall outlet for 60 seconds. Then reconnect the power cable to the printer and wall outlet rather than a surge protector. This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.Make sure the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet. (don't use a power bar or a surge protector) This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation. If you're still experiencing issues, we may need to perform a Semi-Full Reset. I can send you that information in a private message. In the forum beside your handle name just click on the envelope to view it. Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. I look forward to hearing from you. Good Luck!

  • IPad 4 touch screen unresponsive

Touch screen unresponsive, cannot unlock device. Replaced touch screen, now I get nothing from LCD display. Triple checked ribbon connectors. Where should I begin looking for solutions: battery, logic board, LCD display? Tries to connect to iTunes, but without display working, I cannot enter passcode.

I'm sorry, but if you took your own device apart there's nothing anyone here can do to help you. Your issues are a level of technical support that's beyond what's covered here.
Maybe an unofficial forum would serve your needs better.

  • Part of screen has become unresponsive

Suddenly part of my Iphone 4 screen has become unresponsive. In vertical screen mode, it's the bottom R.hand corner and selected other spots near the bottom of the screen, e.g. the back button, z,c,and m keys. It seems to be the same area of the screen when turned into horizontal mode, so that there it's e.g. the send button in mail. In the phone, pressing the back symbol brings up the # sign, just above it - so if I make a mistake hitting the phone keys, I can't undo it without powering down then re-powering up.
There are no scratches on the glass, and I have tried re-setting the phone. I have the latest Itunes and ios. Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Richard

  • Part of the screen unresponsive

This problem only occurs about 25% of the time for no apparent reason. In the top right quater of the screen if I try to mouse click on a file to open it it is pot luck if I will get a reaction. If I don't and I drag the window to a different part of the screen and then click on the file again I get a reaction and the file opens. I would think it is a mouse problem but the same command works as long as I'm in a different part of the screen. Any idea's ?

It's happening relatively infrequently – once every 2-3 days. And I haven't been able too discern a way of triggering the bug. So it's not really practical to stay logged in on a test account for long periods of time waiting for it too happen.
The only consolation is that it usually goes away after a few minutes. I have not been able to determine what could be causing it to ga away either. I normally click around, frustrated to not be able to do what I wanted, but usually finding a workaround by moving the affected window or accessing the file from another location than the lower right part of the screen.
Strangely, the non-clickable area seems to differ in size, but always stays in the same screen corner. And it affects all types of content inside that area, including the desktop itself.

  • Why is the lower part of my iPhone screen unresponsive (certain apps only)?

I have an iPhone 3GS, just updated it to iOS 6 last week.
It has been working fine, but since yesterday the lower 1/10th of the screen (where the send button is for SMS, space bar and other key items) is unresponsive in certain apps.
For example, I can swipe to unlock the phone from the locked state and generally use the lower 1/10th of the screen, but when I try to use this area in Messages, Camera, emails and other key apps the lower 1/10th of the screen is unresponsive.  Nothing happens when I click action items.  In some apps (messages) it is only the lower left corner that doesn't work.
Has anyone had app specific unresponsiveness from their iPhone screen?
I restored the phone last night to no avail.

I need it to work until I upgrade to iPhone 5 when it is back in stock!

  • Part of screen seems unresponsive...

I just exchanged my iPhone 4 for another one (there was a screen defect) - but now the replacement one that I just got seems to have a screen problem.  For some reason, I can't seem to drag apps from the first two rows to the bottom two rows and vice-versa.  It is as though there is a barrier going through half of the screen.  Also, I can't scroll if I start from the middle of the screen as opposed to starting at the top or bottom of the screen.  I tried restarting the phone and just updated it to 5.0.1 but it didn't help.  Any suggestions or am I going to have to exchange the phone again?

  • Bar on screen unresponsive for the most part with iOS 7.1.1

About two weeks ago, I noticed a periodic issue on my iPhone where there is a half an inch long bar going horizontally across the screen a little over halfway down.I have tried resetting the phone seven times, and the issue either appears shortly after I reset the phone (i.e. when it's on any random screen), or becomes noticable once the phone prompts you to set your nation. Additionally, I have had the phone checked out by Apple (they suggested I perform the latest reset) and I have had different screens put on it by authorized phone repair persons to show that it wasn't a hardware issue. In the last week or so, the issue has occurred about 95% of the time, and prevents scrolling of articles, clicking on apps, and sending of messages in various apps. I thought it was originally a software issue at first, until I reset the phone independent of the computer and the same issue was happening, even before I restored what I had on there before. At this point, I am ready to jailbreak and downgrade to a slightly older iOS system just to see if it will be any different, as I am suspect that one of the recent updates might have something to do with it, but I am posting here first, just to see what others might think.

Have you done the 4Rs troubleshooting steps?
    Restart:
    1. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider.
    2. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Note: You will not lose any data
    Restore from backup
    Restore as new
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
If no joy after the last step without the backup, make an appointment with the Apple genius for an evaluation.
