Part of web address

I must not be typing it in right, but here's what I need to
know. I need part of the web address after the HTTP_HOST segment.
For example: www.example.com/images/test.gif. What I need is
/images/test.gif.
Thanks

  • Changing a part of a web address in all the topics in a project

    Hi,
I have a situation here. I have multiple WebHelp projects which in turn have 100s of topics. Now each of this help topic has a hyperlinked text which is linked to a Web address for example http://ablnxtestvm89:8080/ABCD/ABRoot/XY3/IJ2/<different files>.htm. Each link will be pointing to a required htm file in the required folder. As you will see the ABCD folder contains all my required external files. Now what if I move this ABCD folder to a different server i.e. ablnxtestvm89:8080 changes. Is there a way to replace the old server name with a new server name in one place and wherever this server name appears in the hyperlink in any topic, it changes automatically everywhere?
By the way, I am using Robohelp 6 and am generating WebHelp. I am also planning to move on to Robohelp 10. So would appreciate if I can get a solution for both these versions.
    Thanks and regards,
    Sree

You would need to use a third party Find and Replace tool such as Text Crawler. That would work at code level so some care is needed.
Create a zipped backup of your project first.

  • I want to know how to get the web addresses to go away that appear in the bottom left corner of the browser every time my mouse goes over a link

Any time that my mouse goes over a link on a web page a little box in the bottom left corner of the browser pops up showing the web address for that link and it is really annoying, especially when i am on facebook because there are so many links on the home page i cant move my mouse anywhere without that box popping up and blocking part of my conversations. I was wondering if there was any way to turn this off. I've checked through the options and to my knowledge there is no way to turn it off. Just wondered if anyone else has had this problem or knew if there was a way to get that box to go away.

Another option would be to use the following extension to push those messages into the status bar. It could be a convenient way to have your messages visible when you want them, but with less distraction.

If you try it, let us know what you think.

  • Web address with hyphen will not work in PDF

    CS 4; ID 6.0.6
    OSX 10.5.8
In ID, I create web links by selecting a url and then selecting New Hyperlink From URL. The new link is a Shared Destination by default with the web address as was selected. These links work fine when exported to PDF.
When I use the same process on a url with a hyphen (part of the address and not a line break), the resulting Shared link will not work when exported to PDF. The newly created link in this case always begins with file:///Users/.
What is it about the hypen that messes up the process? I work in a bilingual government so we have a lot of urls with hyphens in them. For example: www.cga-nb.org.
    Thanks.

so your saying that if it's fake...that specific function is a common flaw ?
    Exactly!
Unfortunately the full thread recounting this saga got lost in the forum changeover, but the fake copies come in authentic looking shrink-wrapped boxes with printed documentation; and everything works except the nudge.
    Or sometimes other keyboard combinations.

  • I ugraded to firefox 5 - and I deleted a few programs - I must have deleted the navagation tool bar. It shows up blank i.e. no place to type in a web address.

i was deleting a few programs in an effort to delete something that was attached to firefox - and extension.
I must have deleted the part of the navigation tool bar that show a blank space for one to type in a web address or copy and paste a web address.
When I right click at the top of the page I get the navagation tool bar - a space comes and goes with the clicking unclickin of that tool bar.
I have looked all over for that but can't find it.
    any help would be appreciated

    oops!
first, open up what you have left of the toolbar.
now, right click on it and choose 'customize'. You should see something called 'location' in the box that comes up. Click on it and drag it to where you want it on that tool bar. You can also click and drag around other items on that toolbar to replace them, or move them as needed. :)

  • Just got my Mac air and i would like to make a file to store some web addresses for my new business with rodan and fields and I can't do it. Made the file but i cant copy and paste the web addresses in the file to save them. Please help and thank you.

Yes - well you have to make the file in a word processing Application.
You could use TextEdit (it's free) Pages (words only), or Numbers (data base) (they are part of iWorks - and may or may not be free (included) on your machine.  You could use MS Office (it is not free) You could use any Open source word processor that plays well with Office (NeoOffice, StarOffice) they are free.
That's how you create content and copy/paste URLS. Then you save the file to the desktop. If you are going to make more than one file... you make a folder on the desktop and save, or drag the file(s) into it.
You attach it to your e-mail client which will compress it and e-mail it. An excellent reference is to use Help, from the menu bar, also from inside any application. From your library or book store the OS X for Dummies has a lot of useful information (you don't read it cover to cover but look up chapters about what you'd like to do)
You can also make appointments at your local Apple store for individualized help (if a store is nearby)

  • Getting that little icon next to the web address..

    Hey everyone..
Im using Dreamweaver 8, and I was wondering if there is a
tool that allows me to insert a small little icon next to an
internet browsers web address (ex: the little "Y!" to the left of
the address bar, or better yet, the little macromedia "m" on this
    page, next to the "
http://...." part. Is there a quick and
dirty way? What should be the specs on the pic?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance
    -C

    http://www.google.com/search?q=favicon
It's not really a DW thing, just put your favicon in the root
directory of your website and insert a line like <link
    rel="shortcut icon" href="/favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon" />
in the <head> section of your webpage.
The pic itself is a 16x16 pixel image saved as favicon.ico. I
think it's only supposed to be 16 color too...

  • Highlight web address

how can u highlight a part of the web address if i want to replace a word

You can't. However if you press and hold the magnifying glass comes up so you can navigate inside the address and delete the word and replace it.

  • How to change the web address on my iWeb page?

I was wondering if it was possible to change the web address for the page I have created with iWeb?

No you can't change it as it is made up of your .Mac account name and the name you gave the web site in iWeb. You can change the name of the site in iWeb by clicking on the site name and editing the name, but that will only change the last part of the full URL of the web site.

  • Deleting old web addresses

When I type in a web address in the Google box I get a list of EVERY web address I ever used that starts with the same letter. I understand how this can be helpful but is there any way to turn off that function? It can get really annoying at times. I wouldn't mind if I could keep the addresses I want and delete the ones that I no longer use. Where are all these addresses stored? I don't want to have to go to the trouble of using private browsing and reseting Safari every time I turn on the computer. Thanks!

It sounds like you two are talking about two different things ... partly due to Dylanmusic saying "web addresses" when apparently actually meaning to refer to Google searches (I think).
I think Dylanmusic wants to get rid of the autofilled search strings in the Google search field.
QuickTimeKirk is explaining how to keep the address field from autofilling web site addresses.
Dylanmusic, you can get rid of all autofill entries for a given web site, such as Google, or none. You can't selectively delete them. (That is, you can't without third-party programs. I don't know if there are any Safari enhancing utilities that might enable this. If someone knows about an add-on program with that capability I'm sure they'll chime in.)
Is that what you're looking for? Your first post is a little confusing, since you refer to "web addresses" in the "Google box." Are you referring to search entries in the Google search box, or are you referring to web addresses in the address field?

  • I pad is frozen when I touch it. I can enter a web address and get new web page but bottom is gray and frozen how do I fix?

I pad is frozen when I try to touch it. I can enter a new web address and it gets to website but the bottom is frozen. I can send email but cant do anything else on line.

Try clearing Safari's cache : Settings > Safari > Clear Cache (and Clear History)
If that doesn't work then try closing Safari completely and then re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with Safari 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Safari app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
A third option is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • In version 3.6 I can not open a website link from original page, I keep getting a new window that is blank and asking me to put in a web address. What has changed with the new version?

When on a page if I click on a web link I get a new window that is blank and asks me enter a web address. This started happening with the new 3.6 version. It seems to have something to do with what I choose for the location in my privacy settings as the window changes with each setting but I still cannot get to the new site. Any ideas? I have no problem with this in IE and I have to keep opening IE when I encounter the problem on Firefox which is annoying.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    See:
    * [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
    * Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
    * Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

  • Can not open a web address in word

when I email a document in word 2011 to a group with an hyperlink/ web address. PC users can open it but MAC users cannot why???

BCC: one to yourself on a Mac, look at the Raw Source for clues.

  • What is the difference between https: and http: at the beginning of the web address? Does this effect security when looking onto bank accounts?

New to foxfire, and not very computer savvy. When enter search for bank account noticed the the web address came up with a http: rather than an https: as it normally does when I search from safari on MAC, or even at my PC at work. Not sure what the difference is but if it is a security thing than foxfire is no good for my use.

In Firefox 4 and later you no longer have the Status bar that showed the padlock in previous Firefox versions.<br />
The padlock only shows that there is a secure connection and doesn't guarantee that you are connected to the right server.<br />
So you might still be connected to the wrong server if you make a typo in the URL and someone has claimed that mistyped URL.<br />
The functionality of the padlock has been replaced by the [[Site Identity Button]] on the left end of the location bar.<br />

    Hi,
In all probabilities thats a display problem rather than codes. Try different settings on your computer. If not try running that on someone else's comp whcih has ie6 but does not have a refresh rate problem. Even if you think that migth be code related you might try a javascript function to resize your page on the body onLoad function.
    Hope this helps
