My wife receives a monthly newsletter in pdf from the Weaving Guild sent via Yahoo.
We receive only page 1 of 6 or 7 pages; spinning ball after that.
iMac OS 10.9, Comcast email system, Norton virus scan from Comcast

Norton / Symantec is capable of nothing beneficial and could be the reason for the failure.
Uninstall it according to its instructions, and attempt to download the PDF again.
One or more of the following support documents may be applicable:
Uninstall Norton Internet Security for Mac
Removing Symantec programs for Macintosh by using the RemoveSymantecMacFiles removal utility
RemoveSymantecMacFiles

You can't. You can export Pages files as PDF documents but you cannot save a PDF into Pages. It does not support that feature.
There are tons of PDF apps in the App Store aside from iBooks. Adobe Reader makes a pretty decent PDF app that will store, annotate, rename, highlight, use form fields, sign pdf's, and organize in folders. It is free as well. There are other apps, you just have to Serach for them.

That depends on your operating system and browser. On Windows, e.g. using Firefox, you right-click on the link, then select 'Save link as...'.

If I try to download a pdf document, it appears in the tab but not on screen. I am using Firefox. I tried it with Safari and the document appeared on screen but it wouldn't print.

Quit your browsers.
Open the Finder.
From the menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Typs this exactly as you see it here: /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Click Go
Move the Adobe PDF Browser plugin (or just PDF Browser plugin) to the Trash.
Relaunch either Firefox or Safarai and try downloading a PDF document.

Hello Ranjith,
There is no native functionality for encrypting a PDF document from within BusinessObjects Enterprise. Additionally, none of the BOE SDKs are able to encrypt a PDF document either. Generally speaking, if it is not possible in the product (BOE) it's not possible with the various SDKs.
I am not aware of any third party tools that can do this from inside BOE either. If you haven't done so already you may want to post a question to the [Business Objects Board|http://www.forumtopics.com/busobj/index.php?sid=1037068e7b26619422be6a7b18a8c2ee] (BOB) to see if anyone there has a suggestion.

I am unable to download a pdf document onto my MAC from a Canadian government website

I'm having trouble downloading a pdf document from a canadian govenrment website (I'm on MAC) in spite of having installed the latest version of Adobe reader. Any ideas?

I am not able to do so
Rather I get a message saying that if I'm having trouble I should download the latest version of Adobe Reaer to my MAC, which I've done & confirmed that it's in fact installed

They said I should contact Adobe.com if I'm having trouble.

Yes, Ajlan, thank you. I solved the issue by opening PDF documents of unwanted fonts with another PDF document reader. When I open my files folder, there is an option (drop down box) at the top that allows for me to choose from either Adobe Reader or PDF Vista. It may have been there all along; I just didn't notice it until I recently had this issue.

HT5557 I want to download a PDF document full of charts and graphics. Pages won't load it. Will ibooks?

I have loaded Pages software on my ipad.
I received a PDF document via email as an attachment which I wanted to save. It was a small document, but with lots of graphics, the ipad offered me no no option to store in Pages.
What app could I download which the ipad would give as an option for storage from an email. Would ibooks do?
I already have winzip, but that didn't show as an option.

Problem downloading any pdf document

When I try to download any file ending in .pdf in IE7 the tab freezes.
e.g. http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/pdfs/pdfaccess.pdf
The status line says done but nothing downloads.
I cannot download in Mozella Firefox either.
I can read pdf documents from files on my computer without problem.
The pdf downloads without problem on a friend's PC.
I am using Windows XP Home OS amd Adobe Reader 9.

Why has installing Flash Player 11 Beta 64-bit affected downloading of "pdf" documents??

I recently installed Flash Player 11 Beta 64-bit, and Active-x for Windows 64-bit – for Internet Explorer only.
The downloading of xxx.pdf documents was immediately affected. The downloading was “garbage” into a Microsoft Word document with the suffix .pdf. Help!

Our installer would not have any affect on how pdf files are registered in the system The best think to do is make sure the default program association with pdf files is Acrobat Reader. IE should pick up on those settings.

Downloading a PDF document via blob won't open start acrobat on click

I'm experiencing a problem trying to get acrobat reader to open immediately when viewing a file stored as a blob is clicked. I am updating an old plsql webtoolkit app that stores pdf files in the database as a blob and displays them to the user in a frame. Download is achieved using wpg_docload.download_file() and the example provided by Oracle documentation. The download package body is:

END download;All files will download okay but the acrobat container doesn't open right away and show a progress bar. It waits for the entire file to download, then opens the file. This becomes a bigger issue when the file size increases because it appears as though the site hangs until the document appears.
If I place a file on a site directory instead of inside the database, create a link to it and click it, acrobat opens right away and displays progress. I want to get the site to open blob stored files in adobe right away and show download progress as if the file was stored on a site folder.

When trying to edit or download a pdf document, it becomes too large or on screen or normal size with many lines of text blacked out. How do I get it to do the normal presentation of the document

For years my pdf docs downloaded for viewing or editing as normally sized documents.
Now when I pull up a pdf from file, it becomes too large or becomes normal page size but many of the lines of text are blacked out. How do I correct it to go back to the previous default page size?

Are you opening those files in Acrobat or Reader? You can set the default page size in the Page Display preferences. Choose Acrobat/Reader > Preferences in Mac OS, or Edit > Preferences in Windows to access the preference settings. Do the black lines only appear when the PDF is zoomed in? Or are they there regardless of the page magnification?
