Partial downloads disappearing

Why do partial downloads keep disappearing from itunes? If there is any interupption such as laptop battery dies or a loss of connection to the internet, it says there is an error. If I have to close itunes or reboot, ther partial download has disappeared by the time i go back into itunes. I keep having to start again and when you have capped data usage, it can be annoying with large HD files for instance. It only seems to happen with my series pass stuff since i downloaded IOS6. Any thoughts?

I am having the same problem the download keeps stopping and there is no option in the puchases section to resume, it starts from 0 kb everytime. Plus it is taking close to five hours, I am downloading onto a server and I cannot sit infront of the download for five hours. Any suggestions this is going to prevent me from upgrading both the Mountain lion and the server software.

  • Stuck with a partially downloaded song

On my 3rd generation iPad, I am stuck with a song I partially downloaded.
In iTunes>Purchases, I clicked on the cloud next to the song title. It started to download on my iPad. Somehow, I thought the better of it, I didn't need the song on my iPad, so I broke it off. However, now it's there, on my iPad, as some sort of out-of-reach ghost song.
When I go back to iTunes>Purchases, there's no cloud next to the song, but Play. When I choose Play, I'm redirected to Music but the screen goes dark. Nothing happens. I can't swipe to delete the song either. There's a button that seems to indicate it's partially downloaded (next to "Rolling Stones Si..."), but when I click on it, it disappears:
I've tried General>Usage>Music, but it says "No data".

Oh thank goodness! I re-downloaded the songs, like what you said, on my computer, and I synced my music over, go to albums on my iPad and deleted the whole album. Finally the songs are deleted! Thanks for helping me!

Oh my gosh I had the EXACT same problem, and for ages I couldn't figure out how to fix it until today. Here's what I did:
First I went onto my computer, opened itunes, and un-installed tumblr, vine and kik. These were the apps I was having problems with (it said I had them on my phone but, like you, they didn't show).
Then I went to the itunes store, searched for each one, and it said I could update them so I did (just FYI: for tumblr a window popped up saying "please click ok to confirm you are 17 years or older", so I did that also)
When I went back to my phone and tried installing them again (still on my computer), it worked!
I hope this helps, because it was incredibly frustrating. Good luck!

  • Why doesn't the new i-tunes allow me to save partial downloads of shows?

at my home base i start to download a show but then i receive a network error. the download starts all over. i go to another city for business, use the internet access but i-tunes allows me to pause and resume my download of shows. this question may have been answered but i am totally stymied. why did they change i-tunes? before you could pause and resume. i live in indonesia so downloading is often interrupted, thus always having to restart my downloads.

Please, I am a travelling consultant and have the same problem, I just recently bought 24 season 6 and cannot download it. ITunes must have understood this and thought of a way to save partial downloads so in time you could complete the full download. Please can someone answer this question?
    Thanks.

My Purchases show partially downloaded. When I attempt to resume the download I recieve an error message: "an unknown error occurred -50". I tunes has charged for the download and sent a reciept however the shows wont play?

I had the same problem so (assuming under the Purchased items in the Store you have a song stuck at 'Downloading'):
I went to Music, then Artists.
From there I chose the album.
The song that failed to download had the cloud symbol next to it.
I clicked the cloud symbol and the song completed the download for me.
(Please note this was in iTunes for Windows - I expect it to be similar in iTunes for Apple)

  • HT204406 I authorized a second computer on my iTunes account, and downloaded my library from the Cloud to my new computer. However, many songs only partially downloaded, and now I'm having a hard time getting rid of them to do full downloads.

I authorized a second computer on my iTunes account and tried to get my first computer's library on my second computer via the Cloud. Many of the songs only partially downloaded, and I am having a hard time getting rid of the library with the partial downloads (so I can get full songs). I am considering nuking the current iTunes on the second computer and re-installing, giving myself a clean slate to work with. Is this the right way to go?

How do I delete a tv show that I accidentally purchases? It is partially downloaded. It will take up to much space on my iPad. I don't care about the charge for the show- I just want to get rid of it. Thanks

  • HT201272 problem with partial download onto my computer

I purchased a song in iTunes.  Got a partial download on my PC Windows computer, although iTunes CLAIMS there are 3:43 minutes, there is only 20 seconds of song.  The song was downloaded in full to my iPad and iPhone, but in my iTunes library, although it shows as 3:43, I only have a snippet.  There was a download error when I first got it.
How do i get the entire song on my computer, so I can move it to my first version iPod shuffle?

On the computer, delete the song from the iTunes library and then redownload a fresh copy on the computer. See the following document for instructions:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the item that is not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the item, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" link next to the item.

  • How to remove partially downloaded files in 10.6

I could not find any recent helpful answers via Google, but eventually discovered, by trial and error, that you need to delete the failed downloads in three places namely:
    /Library/Updates (this is probably unnecessary)
    and the *two* files here:-
    /private/var/folders/<complicated long path>/<name>
where <name> ends in .pkg and also in .pkg.resumeData (i.e. the "same name" twice)
I found out where these were being saved by (*immediately* after the update-failure), typing
find /private/var/folders -newerct "1 minute ago" -name "*.resumeData"
and sure enough, these corresponded to the failed downloads. I removed them with
sudo rm /private/var/folders/<complicated long path discovered via find/<name>.pgk
sudo rm /private/var/folders/<complicated long path discovered via find/<name>.pgk.resumeData
and then the software update started working again instead of always aborting with e.g. "iTunes: partially downloaded" etc.
The reason for the original failure is my poor internet service that constantly breaks halfway through any long-ish downloads.
An example of the actual filepath on my 10.6.8 Mac OSX is:
    /private/var/folders/02/027LjtRMGXSZNggzpqLQg++++TI/-Caches-/com.apple.SoftwareU pdate/swcdn.apple.com/content/downloads/<same amount again in length>
in other words, really long winded and very difficult to find (I have been trying to do this all day and could not find anything via the www) - I hope it helps you!

I deleted the 76% partially downloaded updates from hd>library>updates
now im at 11% where would I find the rest and how?
    thanks.

  • How to delete partially downloaded movie from ipad

I tried to download an HD movie to iTunes, but there was not enough space for it. I cannot get rid of the partially downloaded movie. Already tried reset, but that didn't solve anything.

If you're viewing the Purchased screen and see a cloud icon next to the movie, it isn't on the iPad and you can hide it by swiping.
What is the available storage on the iPad? You can check by tapping Settings > General > Usage. Try looking through the list of apps and removing something that you don't think you  want anymore, if there is anything. I'm guessing you're gonna need a few gigs free to avoid running into the download/playback problems.
    You can always re-download stuff.

  • How do I delete a book from iBooks which is already partially downloaded?  It's from the iBooks store (free), but now frozen.  It does not respond to "pause" or "delete" but will not continue to download either.  Any suggestions?  Thank you.

    See Subject/Question.

Problem resolved.  Once I downloaded another book, logging into Apple account, it started the new book downloading and the partially downloaded book (frozen), finally completed its download.  Now I can use it or delete it as normal.

  • Partially downloaded TV show episode, suddenly starts over...

I am living in Uganda, accessing the internet with a SLLOOOWWW dial up connection. I have purchased a season pass to a TV show, and have been downloading available episodes. Twice now, a show has been excruciatingly close to complete (after over 12 hours of downloading), then suddenly it seems that all the data is lost, and it starts over from scratch. Suddenly I'm back at 0MB of 493.6MB - 16 hours remaining. Ouch. Anyone know where the partially downloaded episodes are saved? I'm curious to know if the data was really lost...
Any help would be much appreciated...

I know you may not have any other options, but keep in mind that iTunes requires a broadband connection. Dial-up can cause all sorts of yuckiness.
If downloading never seems to complete, you may want to consider the following:
1.) Disable all anti-virus software you may have running
2.) Disable all firewall software you may have running
3.) Disable all web acceleration software you may have running (this is especially important for dial-up users such as yourself)
4.) If you are connected to the internet via an internet router, please disconnect it and connect directly via your broadband modem
Dial-up + security software can have some strange results sometimes.
Hope this helps. Keep us updated

  • Partially downloaded podcasts

I've been getting a lot of partially downloaded podcasts in iTunes. They podcasts are supposed to be 55 minutes long, but often only 20 seconds or 20 minutes or so of the podcast gets downloaded. I do not see any obvious way to "re-download" the podcasts inside iTunes. The specific podcast this is happening with is "Catholic Answers - LIVE". Does anyone have any idea how I could resolve this problem? (Or at least come up with a workaround).
    Thanks!
    -Paul

I'm glad I'm not the only one with this problem. I should clarify it too. Catholic Answers publishes two podcast episodes per day, and 9 times out of 10, my Mac downloads them without any issues. But once in a while it fails to download the complete episode. I'm pretty sure my internet connection is reliable because I use it for tons of other things and have no problems with it. It seems like a software issue (iTunes simply times out and doesn't have the robustness to reliably download). All of this started happening after I upgraded to iTunes 7.

  • Partially downloaded song

My partially downloaded song is stuck, it won't let me restart/reset it..please help

Depending upon what country that you are in (music can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then try deleting the incomplete track from your iTunes library and redownload it via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes (or if doing it on your phone delete it from the Music app and redownload it via the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app)
If you aren't in a country where you can re-download music or if it re-downloads in the same state then try the 'report a problem' page to contact iTunes Support : http://reportaproblem.apple.com
If the 'report a problem' link doesn't work then you can try contacting iTunes support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/- click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption
