Partial match for Value Mapping in Import Manager

Hello Experts,
We have a import map which is used to do mass insert of data into the main table. This is done as & when required by the end user.
We have a qualified lookup field which has a flat lookup filed as the Non-Qualifier. This flat lookup field is refering to a Lookup Flat table, which has mulitple dispay fields like Code,Name, Status etc. (14 fields in total) where as only the Code is the unique field.
We have only the unique field in our source file which we use for the import. Since we have only a part of the display fields in the source, the automap functionality in the Value maping section doesn't work. It becomes very tedious for the user to manually map all the values for this field.
Is there any way by which we can convert the source or target values in the import map, so that we can map the values using the Automap feature?
Your help & suggestion for alternate approach is highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Uday
P.S. We are using SAP MDM 5.5 SP6.

Hi Uday,
No need to enable remote key mapping for QLT. Please execute the below steps(stated with an example) -
1.  Among all the fields in the referenced lookup table, identify the lookup fields and the tables they are looking up .
For eg.If you have a lookup field as 'Country' as one of the fields, look up table will be 'Countries'
2.For the identified lookup tables, set 'key mapping =Yes' in Console.
For eg, For Country Lookup table ,set Key mapping to 'Yes'
3.Import values into Lookup table (Import manager)/ Remote key update -
In import manager, select source (local file) and destination as Countries flat table. This Table will be haing 2fields - Code and description.Clone the 'Code'field and map it to Remote key field in destination hierarchy.Map code and description to equivalent destination fields. Select 'Code' as matching field > Perform import into lookup table.
Check if the records in countries table are updated with remote keys(in Data manager> right click on a record> select 'Edit key mappings' > view key mapping for the record)
3.Import to Qualified table/Auto value mapping -
Now, in the import map for qualified import , map the source field and destination field (of lookup type), all the values of this field will automatically map.
Similarly, refresh remote keys mappings for all the lookup tables first and then you can see auto mappings of values happening for the lookup fields.

  • Value Mapping in Import Manager

    Hi All,
I have Probelm while loading data to MAIN TABLE through Import manager,I am getting XML file from Legacy System in which legacy sends State Code like NM (for New Mexico) .In my region table I made Name and Code as display field .Created my Import map ,when ever new value comes for region value mapping is not working ,I tried changing my region table with code only display field it works ,but I want Name also display field .
Note : all my lookup table Remote key mapping Enabled
Is there any way we can acheive this or am I missing some thing here .
    Thanks,
    Madhu

    Hi Madhu,
    to achive this:
    1. First go to the table where you are maintaining the region codes.
    2. Enter the region code there and then go to the import manager by connecting to the source file.
    3. go the region field map by opening the map.
    4. go to value mapping pane and select unmap.
    5. then select Automap and check the that your region code added manually is mapped with the source file.
    6. You may see some unmapped source values, map it to Null values at destination.
    7. Save the map.
    8. This shoul enable the import for you.
if you want to avoid the manual mapping everytime, you should be getting all the region codes once and import/update it in the data manager as a one time job.
Then you avoid steps 1 to 3 everytime and carry out the remaining steps to import the records.
Hope this helps resolve the issue.
    Thanks

  • Create key mapping using import manager for lookup table FROM EXCEL file

    hello,
i would like create key mapping while importing the values via excel file.
the source file containing the key, but how do i map it to the lookup table?
the properties of the table has enable the creation of mapping key. but during the mapping in import manager, i cant find any way to map the key mapping..
    eg
    lookup table contains:
    Material Group
    Code
    excel file contain
    MatGroup1  Code   System
    Thanks!
    Shanti

    Hi Shanti,
Assuming you have already defined below listed points
    1)  Key Mapping "Yes" to your lookup table in MDM Console
    2) Created a New Remote System in MDM console
    3) proper rights for your account for updating the remote key values in to data manager through import manager.
Your sample file can have Material Group and Code alone which can be exported from Data Manager by File-> Export To -> Excel, if you have  data already in Data Manager.
Open your sample file through Import Manager by selecting  the remote system for which you want to import the Key mapping.
(Do Not select MDM as Remote System, which do not allows you to maintain key mapping values) and also the file type as Excel
Now select your Soruce and Destination tables, under the destination fields you will be seeing a new field called [Remote Key]
Map you source and destination fields correspondingly and Clone your source field code by right clicking on code in the source hierarchy and map it to Remote Key if you want the code to be in the remote key values.
And in the matching criteria select destination field code as a Matching field and change the default import action to Update NULL fields or UPDATED MAPPED FIELDS as required,
After sucessfull import you can check the Remote Key values in Data Manager.
    Hope this helps
    Thanks

  • Regarding  Exception handling for  Value mapping

    Hi
We have a requirement for resending the message (using  SXMB_MONI)for Value mapping and other message mapping related errors . Is there any others way we could achieve this , Any help on this is appreciated ?
    Thanks in advance,
    Jishi

    Hi Jishi,
I don't think that SXMB_MONI is the solution.
If you have a mapping error this can belong to two things:
    a) either your mapping is wrong
    b) or your message is wrong.
In case a) you have to correct your mapping
In b) The sending system must look what happend.
In my opinion in both cases (a & b) the process must be restartet from the source system. That's the way we do it.
Additionally we send a information message in the exception branch to the sending system

  • Problem in mapping from  import manager  to Data manager

hi friend's....I got a problem while mapping the data from import manager  to Data manager .The problem is the data in import manager (i.e source hierarchy) will map to single filed in data manager ( i.e target hierarchy)..
Help me it will be great full to me
    Regards
    Yugandhar

    Hi Ana,
If you have a hierarchy in this format:
    N1            N2                 N3
    A              A1                 A11
    A              A2                 A21
    A              A3                 A31
    B              B1                 B11
Then u have to follow these steps for import.
    1. Select source file and destination hierarchy table at top of import manager.
    2.  Go to Partitions tab (Second tab) Just above the tabs, if u click on the plus sign against your source file, you will see N1, N2 and N3. Cick on N1 and in partition tab, add N2 to right side by double clicking on N2.
    3. Now add N3 to right side by double clicking on it.
    4. Go to field mapping (Third tab). There you will see a field N1(Partition). Map this field to yourhierarchy field on destination side.
    5. In value mapping (Below the field mapping), Expand your source hierarchy. Select all (ctrl + A). Click on "Add" button. Select "Add Branch as child" option.
    6. Go to Matching tab (Fourth tab). only one field will be there. take ity on the right side. and select the import action as "Create".
    7. Go to last tab. Click on import button.
Your hierarchy has been imported. You can check it in data manager (in hierarchy mode).
    Hope this solves your problem.

  • Reuse of MAP in Import Manager

I am trying to reuse a MAP created to load KNA1 table in Import Manager in the same server. The Source file name and file type (.xls) is the same, as well as the original worksheet name. While the Import Manager is matching records, it is abending w/ following msg - Error sig:
    AppName: importmanager.exe; Appver 1.0.0.1; ModName: importmanager.exe; ModVer: 1.0.0.1; Offset: 004e9c90
    Thanks

Sure, this is possible. Remember that map/syn files are useful when you know in advance nothing has changed, that is, when automating the process (via batch/server processing).
One example might be if MDM is expecting numeric value, whereas in the past you used a text value. You might not be changing the source data, but you have made the MDM Repository more restricted.
Perhaps you should review which changes have taken place, something might be escaping your sigh
    I hope this helps

  • Mapping in Import manager

    Hi,
I have a basic doubt in Import manager.
While mapping source to destination. We select main table in the destination and mapp with the file import as source.
Suppose my main table is vendor and source table is vendor i ahve mapped all the fields and values from source to destination .Then i have bank detail as flat table which also have 4-5 fields shall i ahve to map this also to the source system By selecting the bank detail flat table as the destination and .
Or i have to mapp only the main table of the destination system to the source system.
    Thanks,
    Rohit

    Hi Rohit,
As you said that all the fields in the source and the destination are mapped, so i dont think so you require to map the bank details from other source table; in case you want to add alos you can, as you can map only one table with one; it maintain only one to one relationship.  In case you have some fileds left out in your destination table to be mapped with fields in other table than just use lookup and join to get the data of bank source table into vendor source table, by this you will have all the bank fields and vendor fields in one table as vendor and you can easily map all the fields from one source table to one destionation.
In case you want to know something else please let me know.

  • ABAP program and FB for value mapping replication

    Hi,
we are using a 40B system and I want to use the value mapping replication in XI. To refill the data into the XI database I must write an ABAP and a function module to transfer the data out of R/3 into XI (via RFC). Has anybody an example how the program (and the FB) must look like? i.e I want to read table mvke and extract the materialnumber and the prodhierarchy.
    Thanks and best regards
    Arnold

    Hi Arnold,
First you need a table type with a structure like follows:
    operation
    groupid
    context
    identifier
    agency
    scheme
    (corresponding to the Interface ValueMappingReplication)
All used data elements should have type string or charXX
    for example: operation - char10, groupid - char32, rest - char120
Next you create a function module with attribute 'remote-enabled module'.
The import parameter is your new table structure.
Next you create an ABAP program. Here an example:
    report z_value_mapping .
    tables mvke.
    data:
    p_value_mapping type zvalue_mapping,
    p_value_mapping_table type zvalue_mapping_table.
    p_value_mapping-operation = 'Insert'.
    p_value_mapping-context = 'http://xi.com/Material'.
select * from mvke where matnr between '170' and '501'.
    check not mvke-prodh is initial.
    * Create a value mapping group to join two entries.
    * use a unique 32 digit number.
    concatenate '00000000000000' mvke-prodh into p_value_mapping-groupid.
    translate p_value_mapping-groupid using ' 0'.
    * Store the mapping source as first entry to the group
    p_value_mapping-identifier = mvke-matnr.
    p_value_mapping-agency = 'SenderAgency'.
    p_value_mapping-scheme = 'MATNR'.
    append p_value_mapping to p_value_mapping_table.
    * Store the mapping target as second entry to the group
    p_value_mapping-identifier = mvke-prodh.
    p_value_mapping-agency = 'ReceiverAgency'.
    p_value_mapping-scheme = 'PRODH'.
    append p_value_mapping to p_value_mapping_table.
    endselect.
    * Push data to XI
call function 'Z_VALUE_MAPPING' in background task
      destination 'IS_XID'
      exporting
        value_mapping       = p_value_mapping_table.
        commit work.
Import the RFC to the Integration Builder, create a mapping between your RFC and the interface ValueMappingReplication.
Check this Blog for additional steps:
    /people/sreekanth.babu2/blog/2005/02/23/value-mapping-replication
Choose names for context, agency and scheme which are useful your scenario.

  • MDM Maps in Import Manager crashes and does not open

I am having problems with some of my maps in the Import Manager.  While working in the Import Manager the maps are fine and I am able to import the data, but once I exit out of Import Manager and try to open the same map, it crashes and closes the application.  I am not sure what the issue my be.  Could it be the fields I am mapping to are creating a conflict somewhere?  Has anyone encountered the same problem.  Any insight on this issue would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

This was happening to me as well.  Basically, the data I was submitting was much too large for MDM to handle which resulted in a timeout.  To resolve this, I copied my data to temp tables to minimize the number of records I was sending it.  After my experience with Import Manager, I think it's safe to say that it was not intended for large data loads.  In the future I will be using Import Server and translate my data to XML.

  • Fixed value population in Import Manager

    Hi
I want to populate a fixed value say 'XXXX' to a destination field while loading data thru import manager.
Can I get some tips how to accomplish that.
    Appreciate your help
    -Reo

    Hi Reo,
You can probably make use of <b><i>Conversion Filters</i></b> to accomplish this.
In the Map Fields/Values tab of the Import Manager, when you map your source field to the corresponding destination field; you can apply a conversion filter on your source field.
In field mapping sub-pane, right-click on the source field and select <i>Apply Conversion Filter</i>. You can these choose an appropriate filter like <i><b>Replace</b> and eliminate/replace source field value with/by blank space</i> followed by <i><b>Apply Operator --> Prepend</b> and then specify your fixed value 'XXXX'</i>.
As a result your source field will always contain the value 'XXXX' and the same will be imported into your destination field. You can preview the converted source field value in the Converted Value column of the Value Mapping sub-pane(Source side).
This could be a possible solution to your problem.
Let me know if this helped your cause.

  • Whatu0092s the name of the table used for value mapping?

    Hi,
Does anyone know what’s the name of the table where the value mapping values are stored in XI?
    Br.samuli

    Hello,
The table name will be XI_RUNVALMAPGR. It is the Java Scheme table.
So you can see the table only from DB Management Tool, for instance Enterprise Manager for SQL Server.

  • Calling AIF for Value Mapping from standard ES

    Hello All,
Is there any option of using SAP AIF for standard ES (for adding value mapping). We have requirement where value mapping needs to be done for standard ES. I was thinking of making explicit call to AIF using following method :
    * Call method to AIF
         /aif/cl_enabler_proxy=>process_message(
         exporting  is_input = input
          iv_exception_classname = ' ' ).
However this method doesn't have any exporting parameter to get the changed data back.
    Is there any workaround ?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Dijesh Tanna

    Hello Gita,
Both these notes talks about monitoring the existing interfaces / ES using SAP AIF. However, doesn't talk about enhancing existing ES.
Secondly , I had look at function module /AIF/FILE_PROCESS_DATA. However, question is from where we should call this. I was aiming the EXECUTE_ASYNCHRONOUS method of ES and calling this FM from implicit enhancement spot. However, the structure INPUT inside EXECUTE_ASYNCHRONOUS is not changeable. So even if AIF performs value mapping , I can't pass that modified data to standard implementation of SAP ES.
Have a look at below code :
You can see that I passed INPUT to my custom function module which calls AIF internally and performs value mapping , checks etc.. and return the modified data in OUTPUT but SAP's standard code is still using INPUT in subsequent code. I can't assign OUTPUT to INPUT as it is import parameter not changeable.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Dijesh Tanna
