Partial recovery failure

I am repairing a hp laptop DV7 for a friend, I have the recovery dvd's and drivers dvd
but all I get is a message that the recovery has a partial failure. I can never
get the system restored to factory settings.
I loaded windows 7 64bit pro easily, but I could not get the drivers
loaded because the nic card driver could not be loaded.
What is wrong with this proceedure I thought it was supposed to be
simple?  change the boot order to make the dvd drive first
and install the dvds in order.. What is missing from this picture in getting
this DV7 laptop working?
Thanks.

Hi:
This is the link to the support and driver page for the notebook:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?product=5189529&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&task=&lang=en&cc=us
Like I said, I need the hardware ID's. For example, note the list of wireless network adapters.
You need to know the hardware ID's in order to install the right driver.
Looking at the specs for the notebook, there are some drivers you need that aren't listed on the page.
For example...Chipset which you need to install first and reboot before installing any other driver.
First download is what you need.
http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/raid_windows.aspx
Second is video. Install and reboot.
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-103171-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en...=
I do not know what audio your model has. There could be one of two audio chips installed Conexant or IDT.
Again, that is why I need the hardware ID's so I can post the drivers you need.
Wired Network:

How you want to make a folder for these drivers and run them is up to you.
But we can get this done for your friend.

  • How to design a grid to withstand a partial network failure

    Hi,
We are evaluating Coherence for a mission-critical system where we want to test partial network failure scenario. We want to run 4 physical hosts, 8 JVMs with 2 JVM on each host. The evaluation criteria is to connect 2 machines on either side of a router, kill one side during a load test, thereby disconnecting the 2 machines and run with the remaining two. In order to have a fail-safe behavior in this scenario, I guess we must ascertain that the back-ups for the objects on one side of a router are always made on the other side. Can Coherence detect such a network set up and store backups accordingly? Or is there a way to configure this by overriding the default behavior?
    Pls advise
    Thanks,
    Sairam

    Hi Sairam
If you use scenario 1) then your test will work. As this scenario only has two machines then the primary node for a piece of data will be on one machine and Coherence will make sure the backup is on the other machine. If you then break the link between the machines or lose a machine you will not have lost data.
If however you have more than 2 machines then you break the link between them you have what is known as a split-brain - which means you have effectively split your cluster in two. Both sides only know they they can no longer see the other part of the cluster and assume they are must be the remaining working part. In this case though you will have lost data from the cluster as some of the backups for each part of the cluster will be on the other part. There is nothing you can do about this, you cannot control which machines backups are allocated to.
Increasing the backup count to 3 does not give you any more reliance than having a backup count of 2. As far as I know Coherence only guarantees that the placement of the first backup is on another machine.
I am not quite sure what you are trying to test as a Coherence cluster cannot automatically survive a network failure that splits the cluster. There are things in 3.6 that you might be able to do with Quorums to mitigate the damage while you recover and there are things you can do to make recovery easier - but you will have to recover lost data.

  • Prime Infrastructure 2.0: Inventory Collection - Partial Collection Failure on 2 of 4 VSS WS-C6509-E

    Hello,
I've got a strange behaviour regarding the inventory collection for 2 of 4 virtual switching systems.
That means the inventory collection for two VSS is succesfull (inventory collections status = Completed) for the other two systems it is not, see attachments.
The device credentials like SNMP-RW, SSH acces are OK. I've already tried to increase SNMP timout and retries as well as telnet/ssh timout without success
All 4 systems are identical regarding hardware model and software vesion.

May be that is also helpfull for others.
    https://tools.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCum05301/
    Symptom:
Inventory collection will fail if following keywords are used as part on description command on the interface config level of IOS device: 1Gbps, 10Mbps etc.
Following error message is visible on the DWC:
Inventory Collection Status: Partial Collection Failure

  • Partial recovery in RMAN 8i

    Hi,
I'm looking for an example of partial recovery (a table only, or a tablespace or some rows in a table) in RMAN 8i.
I deleted some rows from a table and I recovered its tablespace I did not find the rows.
    Many thanks.

What you actually performed was a complete recovery of a tablespace. You must perform a TSPITR (TableSpace Point In Time Recovery):

Other way is to export all the devices , Edit it and then Import it.

    Hi,
While importing the data through xls file , i am getting the error message "Partial Set failure with RC error code = <0x84020020> for record number
0 through 212"  and no record get created in Data manager.
Although i mapped all values , still it giving me an error message.
I tried to Import other data and it was all working fine.
    Please guide

    HI,
I checked the exl file and found that in the first column and first data  was in text format ('0001)but later on when i change the record and moved it to the last record , it worked fine. I was able to load all records including ('0001)
I don't know wht the logic behind this:
if my first record was ('0001), system was giving me the error and not allowing me to load the data. But when i moved the record as the last record it not only allow me to load the records but allow ('0001) also.
If anyone have any clue , plz let me know.

  • Partial Recovery - Skip UNDO Tablespace

    Hi,
I was performing a partial database recovery using skip tablespace option using RMAN. I was wondering if I can skip undo tablespace.
I was not able to conclude whether I can do that? If not, why?
    As per my understanding,
    1. Datafiles are restored - If they have any uncommited data, then archive logs which will be applied for media recovery, will have the undo data to perform those roll backward.
    2. While performing media reccovery using archive logs, it will generate it's own undo data.
Why do we need the stale undo data (generated till datafiles restoration point)?
    Thanks,
    Janak Agrawal

    Soli,
Thread that you have specified, talks about datafiles which does not have any uncommitted data (As the database was normally shutdown). In this case, we can drop and recreate the undo tablespace.
But I am talking about a past point-in-time recovery using RMAN, where the datafiles which will be restored may have the uncommitted data. To rollback these uncommited trnasactions, will we have data in next archivelogs, which will be used for media recovery or the data (needed to rollback) will have only in undo tablespace. Let me give you an example.
At 9 am I want to restore the datbase till 8.15 AM. Full backup is available till 8 AM and then from 8 to 8:15 arvhive logs are available. While doing recovery, datafiles will be restored till 8 AM. If at 8 AM there is some uncommitted data in datafiles, will it require data from undo tablespace to rollback or first archive log after 8 AM w'd take care of roll back? If archive logs can take care of rollback, why can't I skip the undo tablespace while doing recovery?
    Santosh,
As you mentioned, UNDO data will require for read-consistency. But the same data will be available in archive logs (which will require after datafiles restore) which can generate their own UNDO data.
Please clarify. I am sorry if I am missing anything here.
    Thanks,
    Janak Agrawal

Compaq Presario CQ60-212US, Vista OS, 64 Bit. I created a recovery DVD and then ran recovery. • Server 2012 R2 RDS Personal Collection -reuse VM names after a partial job failure

I am currently testing RDS on server 2012 R2, and as part of the test I have built and rebuilt multiple collections of VMs. I have noticed that when creating a new JOB to build a personal collection, sometimes I get VM build failures on one host. The build
failures are usually due to a networking issue, which I then resolve, but when I go to add/create the VMs that failed, the name of the VMs increment from the last VM, and they don't re-use the failed names. I want to be able to reuse/build the VMs that
    failed.
    eg.
    VM-01, VM-02, VM-03 - On HOST-01 all work
    VM-04, VM-05, VM-06 - On HOST-02 fail
    VM-07, VM-08, VM-09 - On HOST-03 all work
So on this example, when I re-run the job to build the missing/failed VMs, it would build  VM-10, VM-11, VM-12 on HOST-02.
Is there a way to reset, or reuse the failed VM names, in the example above that would be VM-04, VM-05, and VM-06?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
For a try you can use powershell command for RD VDI infrastructure.

Also check that when setting up RDS, there needs to be a Physical NIC with IP for the creation of a RDS vSwitch. If this vswitch does not exist, the creation of the MV's will fail.
    Hope it helps!

    Hi,
Assuming you're trying to reinstall Windows 7, there is an easy work around if you have ( or can borrow ) a retail Windows 7 installation disc that is exactly the same version as your OEM installation - ie if your notebook came with Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit this is the exact retail version you would need.
Use the disc to perform the installation, enter the Windows activation key found on the underside of your notebook when requested and when the installation has completed, use the 'Phone Method' detailed in the link below to activate the OS - this method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who just want a clean installation of Windows 7 without the additional software load normally bundled with OEM installations.

    Running Windows 7 64-bit
Hello everyone, I need a bit of help.
My computer will boot windows 7. When I start it up, it tries to boot up.  I then get a Windows failed to boot message on the windows error recovery screen and asks me if I would like to use Windows Startup Repair Tool to fix the Problem. But the tool never starts up. It just leads to a windows background and does nothing. I have also tried using f11 System recovery but it does nothing.

    Hi,
    Firstly, regarding your existing files.
One possible way to try and retrieve your files from a non-booting drive is to follow the process detailed in the link below.  The Ubuntu operating system CD you create can run from the CD alone ( ie it doesn't have to install on the Hard Drive ) and I've often found it to be successful in retrieving data even from a failing Hard Drive.  When you've created the CD, follow the instructions and see if you can back up your existing files.

Secondly, regarding the replacement of the Hard Drive.
The drive on the link below is an example of one that would be fine for your notebook.
    500Gb Hard Drive
The procedure to replace the Hard Drive starts on Page 52 of your Maintenance & Service Guide.
Once done, simply use your Recovery DVDs to reinstall the Operating System on the new drive - the procedure is described in the HP document Here.
If you don't have your Recovery Discs, you can order a replacement set using the link below.
    Order HP Recovery Discs.
If you have any problem with this link, order them directly from HP.
If you live in the US, contact HP Here.
If you are in another part of the world, start Here.
    Best regards and happy holidays,
    DP-K
