Partial solution to the "Video on Demand won't resume from paused/stopped point" issue

I don't know if there's a better place to post this...if so, plmelt me know.
I had the same problem - here's what seems to be working on my system (DVR model # QIP7232-P2).
If you're watching an on demand show, and wish to exit the show, but resume watching later at the point where you left off:
1. While your on demand content is playing, press the 'GUIDE' button on your remote.  This should bring up the TV programming guide, with 'FiOS On Demand' showing as channel 900.  Your on demand show should still be playing in the small box on the screen.
2. Use the number buttons on the remote to enter another channel, hit  'OK' to move the guide to that channel, then hit 'OK' again to change the TV to that channel.
This should save the on demand show at the approximate location (+/- 1 minute) where you stopped watching, and allow you to view other content (live TV; DVR recorded shows).  When you're ready to resume watching the on demand show:
3. Bring up the On Demand menu (tune to channel 900 -OR- press the 'MENU' button on the remote and scroll down to VOD -OR- press the 'ON DEMAND' button on the remote).
4. Navigate to the show you were previously watching.
5. Hit the 'OK' button on the remote, and select 'Resume Play' from the option menu.  This should resume the show within 1 minute of where you left off.
Again, it works on my DVR model, and so far, I've only tried it on the free network TV shows, but I don't see why it shouldn't work on other models/program types

This has worked for me to get a VOD to resume.  Instead of selecting the video directly and pressing resume, try going to MY LIBRARY under the VOD menu and then MY RENTALS.  Video should be there and every time I have done this the resume function worked.  IMPORTANT - It won't if you try it from the normal selection method before going to MY LIBRARY as this resets the position flag to the beginning.
As with all unofficial "fixes" YMMV

Thanks for the response.   My system is Windows 7 with a painfully slow ATT
    high speed connection.
    I got the "Cloud" including CS6 , yesterday,after a chat with a nice Indian
fellow who called me back from Bombay.  Surprisingly he was looking forward
to Thanksgiving too but probably because he gets a day off.
I now have the Adobe Premiere Pro loaded (it took nine hours) and
installed.  Now I'm starting the tutorials.
    Hopefully I'll be editing soon.

If the C key for Install Disc or R Command for OS X Recovery startup commands are not working, try holding the Option key for the Startup Manager.
see > Startup Manager: How to select a startup volume
If that does not work and you using a wireless keyboard, it may have become unpaired and you need to dig up a USB keyboard to invoke the startup commands.

  • IPhone & Universal Dock - No video out after resume from pause

OK - original 16GB iPhone, latest universal dock and Apple Composite cable, hooked to a 42" Sony LCD TV. iPhone is at latest revision.
Used to be that if I used the remote to pause a video, I could wander off, make a cup of coffee, and when I came back, even though the iPhone was locked, I could press play on the remote and carry on where I Ieft off. Recently though, when I try to resume from the paused state, I get sound but no video and I have to walk over to the docked iPhone, unlock it, and then I get video out.
I can only assume that this bug was introduced (or the previously working feature was removed) by a software update. Whatever the cause, it is a pain.
The cynic in me would assume that it is Apple's sneaky way of reducing the feature set to below the minimum expected so as to drive users to buy an Apple TV. The optimist in me assumes it is a bug and it CAN BE FIXED IN THE NEXT RELEASE!
    Anybody else experienced this issue?

I also believe this is a bug, but I found a workaround. I after starting the video you press the wake-up button, the iPhone screen goes off, but the video keeps playing. Now if you pause using the remote, you can also resume using the remote without having to unlock the iPhone.
The weirdest thing about this is that after doing it once, you can unlock you iPhone and be able to pause and resume as expected. As soon as you change the video (that is, you turn the video out off) the iPhone forgets what he just learned and doesn't resume from the remote again.
So as a rule I always turn the iPhone screen off after starting a video. So I'm able to use my remote nicely. I hope this works for you too... and that it gets corrected in the next SW version!

  • While in imovie, when working on a project, I can NOT view the project in the right hand screen. I have made several videos and it has always worked before. I am not able to edit the videos because they won't play in the right hand screen.

The videos that I import (and are located on the bottom of imovie) will show up and play on the right hand screen. But if I move that clip to the actually project area it won't play in the right hand side! I somehow must have clicked something that now won't play the project videos and now plays the clips below instead! Help please I need to fix this! Everythign else works, I can still edit videos, add transitions, music, etc I just can't see it on the right hand side- so I can't edit because I can't see

See my post here on how to do this.

  • What wireless solutions does the video pod support?

For a future webcast, I have a need to shoot a demonstration of chest x-ray equipment, suturing methods, and other "allied health" related procedures.  A simple webcam is not enough.  I have been looking at wireless camera technologies, and there are myriads (e.g., JVC's line of wifi camcorders).  But what type of wireless solution does Adobe Connect (version 9) support for the video pod?  Or what type of workaround?  And how?  I need to find specifications in order to purchase the right products to do the job.
I so appreciate your help in finding the right solution.

No, that was the question I wanted to ask.  I've been hoping that some(one, how, where) would know of a solution that I envision as a portable webcam that sends video, wirelessly, to a type of base station that would connect to a computer with a USB hub.  Alas, there may not be such a species but I can hope.  Logitech came close with the Mac and iOS supported "Broadcaster".
You're probably right about using the Connect mobile app and a smart phone, and I have been pondering the same solution.  But this would involve equipment my university does not control, and students whom I would, in all candor, not want to rely upon.  But before I close this with yours as the correct answer I'm hoping that someone out there may have the "epiphany" I'm looking for.
Thanks, though; I value your opinion.

  • I took some video on my Iphone and uploaded it ot Iphoto - now I Cant locate the video and it has been deleted from the iphone?

    Thats pretty much it.
Took the video less just over a week ago, subsequent videos and pics have been uploaded without issue and are easy to locate.
Just cant find the couple of videos from that day.
    Cheers
    MCJ

I agree with LowLister, the best option for you to share the video online is to upload it to your online storage account for example : Box, Dropbox, SkyDrive (All of them provide free storage beginning from 2GB).
You can upload the files which you want to share in this online storage and then they have sharing options in which you'll will get the link of the file to be sent and send the email. You're good to go!
Tip : You can store multiple files for backup purposes.

  • Ipod video 60 GB won´t charge from USB

Hi my ipod won´t charge thru usb cable instead it will deplete the whole battery, I have tried connecting it in several ports, several computers and with 3 different usb cables with no luck, I noticed it will only charge thru my old firewire charger and dock, what can I do? When plugged into the usb cable it says "charging" but it does not.
I have resetted everything with no luck.
    Thank you

I have changed it from usb ports I have putted it in different computers and nothing, when connected to the usb port of any computer back, front sides or wahtever it doesn´t charge it actually drains the battery, I have also drained the battery fully and let it off for 2 days and no still won´t charge from usb after 5 hours connected to the usb, it will only charge via a firewire charger or my monster cable.

  • Monitor won't resume from S3 on K8N Neo4

Put together the signature rig. Installed XP Pro SP2 on SATA with no problem. I have not done any overclocking as yet. Instead of buying a pci-express card, I took the cheap way out (since all my other video cards are AGP, which won't work on this board) & bought a pci video card. Problem is I can put system in S3, standby, & wake with mouse or keyboard, but monitor does not wake up. When I try to resume from standby, fans start, can hear drives start back up, etc. but monitor won't come up. Believe I have bios settings correct, but it's entirely possible that I've missed something which enables a pci video card to wake from standby. Have updated to latest beta drivers for video card. Latest nforce stand alone driver pack from nvidia, stand alone nforce_6.39_winxp2k, won't install. Says pci sys32 drivers corrupted & have to start windows at last known good setting. But I'm not sure if that is the correct version of latest drivers I should install. Anyone running K8N Neo4 with a regular pci video card? Can you bring it out of standby OK?

Thanks for the post, but I tried changing that setting, &, alas, did not work. On the suggestion of another forum, I went to the Nvidia site, downloaded what was labeled the latest Nvidia drivers for this board & tried to install them. That corrupted something or other, said windows could not start because of corrupted sys32 pci drivers. Had to start in "last known good" setting. Went to the download site for MSI motherboard, downloaded & installed the newest drivers from there, however. Have done a couple of system restores to try & get rid of some of the changed settings by all this stuff. Now after I try to resume from standby it sometimes resumes, fans etc. start up, then it shuts down, or goes into a restart. Been at this for a few days, not sure if I ought to just chuck the whole thing, buy a pci-express card, reformat & reinstall the OS. Either that, or just shut it down when I'm off for a while. Just kind of hate to buy another video card just to use this board.

  • Yet another "won't boot from a certain disk" issue

My Sawtooth G4 just got a new second drive, which seems to work fine. At first it wouldn't boot OS 9 (there are multiple partitions on it) but after some messing with the OS 9 install disk and changing the Startup Disk in the control panel I got that sorted out. The real problem is with OS X. I'm running 10.3.9 on my primary HD and I wanted another OS X system on the new HD so I CCC'd my first disk to the new HD's first partition (which worked fine on the old drive's second partition, now erased) but the Mac won't boot from it. It showed up under the boot options menu (hold option down) but simply wouldn't boot from it no matter what. Finally, I erased the partition and installed OS 10.3 then upgraded it to 10.3.9 (still won't boot from it) but the problem continues. I get the spinning wheel followed by the circle with the bar through it.
It looks to me like there are tons of possible causes for this after reading through several similar threads here. Could somebody tell me what the most logical approach is to fixing this? Or maybe there's some stupid obvious thing I forgot?
    Thanks!

Haven't you ever had a system crash or something that messed up your startup disk or some portion of the OS? And what if your prefs or anything custom has been affected? If you only have one startup drive and it gets hosed you are really in a world of hurt, as then it's up to recovery methods to salvage things. And if you don't have unlimited time to sort all this out? It seems obvious why I would want two startup disks - I've used this system for fifteen years and it just works, thats all. Under OS 9 everything was a lot simpler - you just copied the files to another disk and if they were there, you got a boot disk; everything is a lot more complex in X and I don't really understand it even now.
Then there's the issue of why the other startup disk, while recognized as such, won't boot. That's a puzzle to me. I can't imagine how the Carbon Copy Cloned disk wouldn't work for this - that's what I did before and it worked fine.
The new drive is a SATA drive with an OWC card, but since the partitions with OS9 boots work fine I don't know what to think. (I have to have OS 9 because I still use Vision for my sequencing and audio recording, and because 9 crashes more often than X I always have at least two boot disks of my main system - just in case.)
    Thanks.

  • T400 won't resume from standby after tampering with Intel ME functions

    Hello,
I have a Lenovo T400 with XP SP3. Standby had always been working fine, but yesterday I disabled the Intel ME and AMT functions in the BIOS and also disabled the Intel AMT services in Windows.
When I pressed the power button this morning, I heard the hard disk spinning up, but the standby indicator stayed lit and the display did not activate. I had to force a power off to regain control.
The first suspect is the Active Management Technology, because I haven't installed anything particular that may interfere with power management. At the moment, I haven't had time to try and roll back the changes I've made, but I'm asking if anbody knows about similar issues or has an explanation ready, before I start doing things that may compound the problem.
    Thank you,
    /_urka
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Resetting the security chip, as suggested in another thread by tobes78, fixed the issue.
My T400 has been working correctly for some days now.
Before resetting the security chip, I tried all the following without result, but some updates may be required for the fix to work:
    -updating BIOS
-updating ACPI drivers and PM software
    -disabling Intel ME and AMT
I've left Intel ME/AMT disabled, because I don't really need it and I dare not try enabling it again.
However, it is not sure if the issue was caused by a firmware or a hardware defect and if that may cause other problems in the future.
    Bye,

  • Pavilion 15 Windows 10 won't resume from sleep

Just updated to public release of Windows 10. When the computer goes to sleep, find that it won't resume - have to hold down the power button to get it to shut down, and then reboot it. Are there any updates to BIOS, or anything else, that I need to make to make this work properly, or is this just a Windows 10 bug (that hopefully they'll fix soon)? Thanks.

Yes. I agree. Not all problems were resolved completely. However, speaking to a Microsoft tech (Microsoft Support UK), he has alerted Microsoft to the problem and assures me there will be a patch as soon as possible. It is either a question of Bios being out of date or the display driver. I hope they are as good as their word, However, I agree, HP seem to have been a bit slow off the mark bearing in mind the number of threads relating to these issues with Pavilion! It is possible to check for Bios but one has to feel confident - have a look at this: Sleep, shutdown and hibernation issues after upgrading to Windows 10[ New ] http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-Systems-and-Software/Sleep-shutdown-and-hibernation-issues-after-upgrading-to/td-p/5213861Good luck!

  • At a Genius Bar appointment yesterday, we determined that I needed to go to Mountain Lion from Lion.  I purchased Mountain Lion at the Bar, and paused the install so that I could resume from home.  Now I can't find it to resume. Not in Downloads. ?????

When I upgraded to Lion, my Parallels stopped working and I got a Bootcamp error message.  It had worked fine for the prior year.  I upgraded to Parallels 7.  No luck. At the Genius Bar, the Genius uninstalled Bootcamp.  No luck.  I still get "The Boot Camp partition /dev/diskOs4 used by Hard Drive 1 is missing."
Another Genius suggested upgrading to Mountain Lion.  While at the Bar, I purchased Mountain Lion and then we paused the install so that I could resume it at home.  Once I got home, I can't find the Mountain Lion installer to resume.  It's not in the Downloads file.  Any clue?
My business programs all run on Windows, so I have to get it operating.  The Genius Bar isn't much help.  Does anyone know how to get Mountain Lion installed?  How to get Parallels working?

The "Geniuses" (and I use that word in sarcasm) at the Bar are lying to you. Upgrading from Lion to Mt Lion will not fix whatever problems you are having. In fact it will most likely make them worse.
If you want to try installing Mt Lion to fix the problems you are having you will need to open the Mac App Store link in your Dock, Login to your Apple ID account for the MAS and go to your Purchases area. Mt Lion should be in there and you will be able to do a proper download. Once you either set your Mac into sleep or shut down and then left the internet connection at the Bar all record of that download was lost. So you will need to restart it again from the beginning, like described above.
    Good Luck

  • I7 iMac with Bootcamp 3.1 and Windows7 64-bit won't resume from sleep

When I try to resume from sleep, by clicking the magic mouse button, the screen comes up and I can move the mouse around but the bluetooth keyboard does not work and I can't launch any programs. Have to use the rear button to force a power off and restart.
Is anyone able to resume from sleep okay and carry on using Windows 7? If so, any tips? Thanks in advance, very frustrating.

I don't have an iMac, and it seems those have some design "issues" to say the least. I'd say yes, motherboard and/or firmware (UEFI or SMC, or both) could be buggy and at fault.
Other than resetting SMC and running Apple Hardware Test, not sure what else or next to try.
I've seen a number of BIOS updates out in the last months for my PC motherboards that have definitely improved sleep, S3, hibernation - EVGA, Gigabytes, and Intel - all X58 vs P55 (Lynnfield Core i5/7 LGA 1156) the iMac uses.
    http://anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/showdoc.aspx?i=3634
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IntelCorei5
First I switched to Windows Vista/7, then I switched to build-my-own and custom parts. Love the looks of iMac, came close at one point, but I prefer the specs, options, and configure for my own needs in hard drives, graphics over cool factors.
The iMac even in 2008 when it came with Penryn 64-bit processors never got 64-bit Vista/Boot Camp drivers, and that was why I didn't buy iMac back then, just lack of support I guess, and not seeing the market and need (for a good solid Windows desktop machine by Apple).
