Partial song burning

How can I burn (or transfer to a play list) only part of a song?

When you PLAY the book, does it start at 4:30 or the beginning? If the beginning, then there is something wrong with the way you entered the Start time.
If it plays from the right place, then try converting the track with the Start time and Stop time set how you want it, which will make those the actual beginning and end points of the converted track. Then burn the converted track.

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the dodgy tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the items, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items.

Well, it's still going to be only a 32 bit program, but first go to Edit>Preferences>General, click this button and restart the editor:
Then go back to the preferences>Performance and increase the amount of ram available to PSE.

Only partial songs are downloaded from Itunes Match, they stop and go on to the next song.  Any ideas?

I too had this issue. On the Downloads screen in iTunes simply uncheck the box at the bottom left that says "Allow simultaneous downloads". Next, delete any of the affected songs from your library and then re-download them from iCloud and songs should no longer abruptly cutoff or jump to the next song.

  • HT203173 Why won't my songs burn to disk?

My itunes recently update to the 12.1.1.4 version (I am on windows 8 by the way).
After this download all 1200 of my songs were missing.  I followed an online guide to get them back and I also plugged in my ipod and transferred everything back onto itunes.
I have created a couple of playlists and they are just not burning to disks.  It has nothing to do with purchased songs as believe it or not, they are all cd imports.
Itunes follows the notion of burning the disk and all seems well.  I eject the disk when its complete and put it into the cd player in the car but doesn't work.  So I put the cd back into my laptop and it says it is a blank disk.
So, what's happening?  Why won't songs burn to a disk since this upgrade (and no it is not a faulty disk as I have tried 5 different ones)

  • Can you burn partial songs onto a cd??

I am just getting situated with itunes and was wondering how you can burn songs onto a cd from itunes and if you can burn only portions of songs??

    Hello peterpt,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
You can burn portions of songs by changing the Start/Stop time of each song. To do this, locate one of the songs you wish to burn a portion of, right->click on it and choose "Get Info" from the Shortcut menu. From there, head over to the options tab, where you will see two different boxes for adjusting the start and stop time.
The burn CD will only burn the song from the time you specified it to start as well as the end. Just make sure that if you want to hear the whole song after that, to change the settings back to how they were originally.
    Hope this helps.

  • Some partial songs transferred from ITunes

I am having a problem with the transfer of songs from iTunes to my iPod. The songs play fine in iTunes but after transferring them to the iPod about75% play fine and 25% are partial files, of various sizes and random throughout the iPod library. I have sent it back three times and recieved new iPods but the same thing happens. I bought a nano and it does the same thing after transferring the music from iTunes. I need advice. Apple doesn't even know what it is.
    PC   Windows XP

    MORE INFORMATION:
I tried various ways to transfer songs into the itunes ipod icon: from library, from playlist, even tried transferring playlist. In all situations, the transferred songs appear within the ipod icon as they should, but ipod doesn't show these songs when ejected. It's as if there is a missing "burn ipod" step or something.
I tried installing older itunes software, but it wouldn't let me because I had a new version. I didn't want to uninstall my current version for fear of wiping out my entire library.
I am not ready to take this step yet. I am hoping apple has a fairly simple solution.

  • Partial solution for iTunes not playing songs or playing partial songs

Like a lot of other people, my iTunes (latest version 6.0.3.5 as well as previous versions), would refuse to play certain songs, or, would play only the first X seconds of a song.
I had been thinking all along that the song was encoded correctly and now iTunes would not play it.
Well it turns out that the iPod will not play it either, meaning that PLAYBACK was not the issue, but ENCODING.
I have another computer on our home network...I encoded a CD with that computer (same version of iTunes), then transfered the files to the "broken" computer...with the newly encoded files from the other computer, the "broken" computer plays the songs perfectly.
So anyway, the problem is with ENCODING, not PLAYBACK.
Now I have to go back and re-encode about 30 CD's...the number of CD's I've encoded on the broken computer since the no-playback/partial-palyback issue first surfaced.
We all still have a big problem here in figuring how to get the broken computers to encode correctly.
    Hope this helps.

You might check and see what codecs are installed on your PC...
Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices > Hardware tab
    Audio Codecs > Properties

  • Songs burned out of order

Since I downloaded version 9.2 of i-tunes I have been having trouble when burning a playlist. It goes through the regular motions - it checks for my playlist, starts the burn, going from the first song to the last. However when the disc is burned it is in a completely different order. It is if i-tunes selected its' own playlist order of songs. Any ideas.
    Heavy

Thank you!  The website is great and easy to follow!!!
    So...
I went through all my music again and made sure things matched up, and if it didn't match up I fixed it...I created a playlist with the 'fixed' music...synced music by playlist only
But then I discovered something else...I went to download from iCloud, to see if I could at least get the purchased albums on my phone.  The music seemed to download ok, but when I went to play the music, it started in the middle of the track and then wouldn't play continuously.
I'm not 100% sure, but I may have had music issues prior to the iTunes, iPhone and now iCloud updates.  My apple service plan is expired, any further suggestions?  Do you think taking my mac and my iPhone in to the Genius Bar is my only option now?
    Thanks again!!

  • Import partial songs

    Hi,
Is it possible to import only the first 1 minute of every track in a CD using iTunes? When I look under Preferences>General>Import Settings, there is no such option available.
Are there other software that can do this? I've found one (CDex) which can do a partial RIP, but I'd need to specify the start/end time for each track. It would be nice if there's a software that can rip-the-first-1-minute-of-every-song-in-the-CD.
    Thanks!

As in CDex, it is track by track. When the CD displays the CD track titles, right-click the track of interest, click Get Info, and go to the Options tab. Set the Start and Stop times where you want them. In your example, you would leave the Start time alone, and set the Stop time to 1:00. OK out. When you do the rip, only the selected part will be in the new file.

  • No songs burned on cd after cd is ejected

No songs show up on the cd after burning. I burned a cd this morning without a problem, went to burn one a few minutes later( same brand) and I got this message after cd was finalized. You have inserted a disk containing no volumes that Mac OS X can read. To continue with disk inserted, click ignore. I have tried different playlists shut down Itunes rebooted the computer. Nothing changed still the same problem. Cd shows zero memory used, but cd can't be used again because it's not blank. I can burn these song on my windows computer just no the mac. I have latest version of Itunes 6.0.5 Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Thanks for the reply. I didn’t articulate the situation properly, although you do have the correct problem. Here’s what I do to make a CD (Yes, it is a regular CD-R CD). First, I have a stand alone CD recorder. I record the songs I want from my stereo to the CD recorder using a rewrite CD. I do this because the songs go through my graphic equalizer, which enhances the sound that I like. Then, I import the re-writable CD to my iTUNES using my CD/DVD bay in my PC. Once imported, they show up as track numbers. I then input the track names and artists, after which I burn the final CD. It’s after the CD is burned, the tracks and artists still come out as they were before I had input the information. I’m using the same CD bay on my computer to burn the songs as I am when I try to read the finished CD. Shouldn’t the names so up if I use the same bay? I did double check, and the “include CD Text” box is selected. Any other suggestions? Thanks. Gregg

The computer has been authorized and is the administrater but, when I try to burn a cd, it deletes half of the songs and tells me the computer is not authorized.  I never had this problem before updating iTunes.

  • When burning abbreviated songs, does the whole song burn to disc?

I have changed the start times for many of the songs on a playlist, making them shorter ("Options" under "Get Info").
Since the information is still there for the entirety of the song and not just the portion that now plays, if I burn this playlist to a disc, will it burn the whole song or only the portion I have selected?

Ya that is the one "bug" in burning a playlist with songs that have shortened "Start/Stop" times set. While the songs themselves will only burn out with the start/stop times you specified, in the playlist it only shows the total time of all the tracks complete. There isn't any logic built into the application to calculate the ACTUAL play time of the tracks.
So if you had a single track that was 90 minutes long, set the start/stop times to only play 30 minutes of that track, you still couldn't burn it to a CD because iTunes checks the total time (90 minutes) of the playlist before burning the CD and will give you an error.
One work around is to first convert the songs in iTunes to generate the shorter versions then add those to the playlist instead. When you right click on a song, you will see an option to "Convert to XXX" (where XXX will be whatever encoding method your importing preferences are set to (e.g. MP3, AAC, etc.). If you pick this it will create a NEW copy of the track, converted to XXX, and will only be the portion of the track you specified in the Start/Stop times.
So taking the above example of the one 90 minute track with start/stop times set for only 30 minutes of the track, if you convert you will get a new track in iTunes with just that 30 minute segment which can then be added to a playlist and burned to CD.
The downside to this method is when you "Convert" you may be recompressing an already compressed song so you might lose a bit more sound quality. Not an issue if your original is a WAV, AIFF, or Apple lossless format, but if you start with an AAC or MP3 track and then convert it to a new AAC or MP3 track you might get some re-compression degrading of sound.
If some of the songs are on CDs you have at home, you might want to import them again, as AIFF, etc. with the reduced times set. Put the CD in, select the song on the CD you want to import a shortened version of, Get Info, set the Start/Stop times, deselect all the other songs on the CD, then import. Answer no when it asks you if you want to replace the one in your library with this one so it brings in a new version. You might get away with only having to do this with one or two tracks so that your entire playlist will fall under the 80 minutes or so for a CD and leave the rest as is which will burn out to a CD in their shortened form.

  • Partial Songs on iPod

Sorry if this has already been addressed elsewhere in this forum, but a quick search did not reveal an answer and any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. My music library plays fine in iTunes, but after syncing with my iPod, many songs only partially play on the iPod, then jump to the next song. Any ideas on a fix for this issue?

You should try downloading them again from iTunes, but you should not have to pay again.
You can go into your iTunes Store account info in iTunes (click on your user name) and click the +Purchase History+ button. If it's a small number of songs, and you can find them in the history, you can report your problem with those downloads. They will probably reset those songs so that you can then download them again.
If you don't want to use that interface for reporting this problem, you should be able to contact a person through the iTunes Store support page
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/
and request those songs be reset so that you can download them again.
