Partial sync?

Is it possible to not sync photos. I lost my hard drive and since I hadn't backed up in awhile, I only recovered about 3/4 of my pictures on the computer. I have them all on my ipad. I'm afraid that when I sync it the next time, I'll lose the extra pictures on my ipad. My question is, can I sync everything except the pictures or is there another way to accomplish this? Results from a previous question allowed me to get the pictures back to my computer, but I can't figure how to get them back in the proper albums or merge them with the other pictures.

What you need to start with is reorganizing your photos into albums on your computer. You did day that you were able to get them back onto the device - correct? If you did, then you need to set up your albums or folders again in a fashion in which you want them to be organized. Them after you have done all of that, place all of your folders o albums into one main folder and that can be the folder that you direct iTunes to transfer the photos from onto the iPad.
This article will explain how you can sync photos with iTunes on your computer.
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4236
As I stated earlier, if the photos that are still on the iPad are there from a previous sync ) if the photos are not on the Camera roll which are saved photos that you took with the iPad or saved from email, websites, etc.) - if you sync again with an empty iTunes photo library, those photos will be erased from the device.

I made the mistake of resetting my iPod to factory defaults. Now it will only partially sync to my music library. I continually get an error message saying that certain songs are not authorized for my computer, although they are in the iTunes library on the computer and will play. It's these songs that won't transfer to the iPod. I have deauthorized and re-authorized the computer but no joy. Any ideas?

    Hello there DesertRat71,
I was thinking that some of the songs in your library may have been purchased under a different apple id. You have already done the first thing I would have done by de authorizing and re authorizing. To verify this, highlight one of the songs that will not sync over and use File>Get Info. Here is the help menu link for it if you need it help://bookmark='https://help.apple.com/itunes/mac/11.0/help/index.html?localePa th=English.lproj#itns2937'
In the Summary section there will be an Apple ID entry. If it shows something different than what you are currently using then I recommend signing into the Apple ID it shows and authorizing the computer for that one as well.
    All the best,
    Sterling

That sounds like a settings issue to me. Check with your IT depatment to make sure you have it configured properly.

  • "Notes" only partially sync'd

Hi.  I recently purchased my first Mac - iMac 27" late 2012.  At some point during the setup the Notes from my iPhone 4s got partially sync'd to the iMac.  There didn't seem to be a pattern, some old, some new, but only about 7 or 8 out of several dozen ended up on the iMac.  It looks like a couple of recent Notes are also now on the iMac.
As I sit here testing this, I can create a new note on the iPhone and it will sync to the iMac, and vice versa.  This occurs over the wifi or if the iPhone is connected directly. Doesn't matter.
There are some notes dated on the iPhone many months before I purchased the iMac that are displayed on the iMac, and if I edit one of them on the phone or mac the change is sync'd.
There are other notes on the iPhone that even if I edit them they don't sync to the iMac.
    iPhone: 7.0.4
    iMac: 10.9.1
This isn't a big deal, but one of those things that just bugs me becuase it doesn't seem to be working!
Thanks a lot for the help.
    Gary

OK I figured out the category distinction - just a matter of Notes being stored locally on iPhone or on iCloud.  Did a lot of Googling and found a lot of discussion about this, but no straight forward method to transfer Notes stored "On My Phone" to iCloud.  I tried disabling Notes on  both iMac and iPhone and re-enabling, but that doesn't seem to do anything.
This isn't a new issue.  I see threads going back several years.
Any suggestions how to get Notes in "On My iPhone" to iCloud?

  • Partial sync to iPhone

    Hi,
The most recent two events in my iPhoto library are only partially syncing to my iPhone. I tried making them into an Album instead but the same thing happens.
14 out of 82 photos and 3 out of 9 photos have synced, but not the others.
Older events have a 100% sync.
There is over 10GB free on the iPhone (32GB), and over 140 GB free on my hard drive.
I have started iPhoto holding Cmd-Opt and selecting the option to rebuild the file permissions with no joy.
Or is it an iTunes problem?

Update: deleting the iPod Photo Cache solved the sync for my iPhone, but iTunes will not sync some events with an iPod Touch.
Should I try to restore the Touch?

  • Audiobooks only partially synced

I synced my Ipad2 with my Macbook Pro but my audiobooks on iTunes only got partials on many of the audiobooks. I know I can't redownload the audiobooks. And unfortunately I didn't notice this error and have deleted the audiiobooks from my Ipad.  Is there anyway I can recover the lost portions?

Honestly, nobody around here thinks that this is somehow problematic and that it shows a lack of intelligence or at least ignorance???
By the way, in the meanwhile I have found several other online stores that provide a great range of audiobooks at the same price (or less) and guess what - they are all able to offer them in consumable segments!
Well, from now on I will be shopping there and if you want some links just let me know!
Sorry for disturbing - please keep on weeping for your lost 99 cents or whatever you do in this forum...

  • Partial sync failure

I have the same issue with the nightly and aurora versions. Firefox 11 works fine.

  • Partial sync only (gmail) - fixes?

Greetings. I have a curve 9320 Virgin Mobile canada. Added my gmail account to the curve via the curve (appraently cant do it via the rim website any more). Im on Blackberry Internet Service BIS (I'm a consumer I'm on BIS not BES)
Mail is only syncing one way - if delete an email on my curve it deletes from my laptop which is good
But if delete from my laptop the email does NOT delete from my handheld, which obviously makes the curve a paper weight re: managing my email :-)
Seem like I have tried everything ?!? - all gmail settings seems right (eg imap settings), the curve is set to reconcile mailbox and handheld mailbox wins, reconcile deleted items etc.
I have even tried these steps:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Bold/Blackberry-not-syncing-with-Gmail/m-p/2975554...
    but still not working........
Have you guys seen this before this "partial / one way" synch and any suggestions re fixes?
    Thanks much appreciated!

No message displayed at all -- they just don't sync. This phenomenon applies to some Podcasts, not all, and it doesn't apply to music, which syncs fine. I look forward to your ideas. Thx, Dave

  • ITunes Music and Playlists Partially Syncing with 1st Gen ATV

Anyone have this issue? My 1st gen ATV does not have all the music I've loaded in iTunes and my playlists are only partially synchronized. I've reformatted the ATV and reloaded iTunes 10 - same result.

I'd like to update this post. Nothing from iTunes will sync with my new iPhone 4s. The only item that transferred to the phone was a ebook, but it, of course, ended up in the iBook App. I have tried rebooting both the computer and the phone, checking preferences and settings. I am baffled - and frustrated. When I first posted, when the iPhone was connected to the computer, and I went to "Music" to select playlists or genre or whatever, "Audiobooks" showed up under genre. Now Audiobooks doesn't show up anywhere. Please help. What am I not doing or doing wrong?

  • Ipod classic partial sync?

    Okay,
Brand new 160gb classic, just got it from apple.
Replaced an older model under warranty.
Works great, but I'm not getting all my songs from itunes
library....  Have 8469 songs in library, only syncing 8111....
    Partial albums are resulting.
    Any suggestions??

Difficult to help a generalised problem like some songs not syncing, we need to know what is Itunes telling you, there are many possible causes, like corrupted files, incompatible file format, no hardisk space, sync incomplete due to timeout etc..
    Any error messages while syncing?
iTunes should tell you which songs are not downloaded and the reasons, unless you switch off the alert.

  • IPod partially syncs & I get "Disk cannot be read from or written to"mssg.

Here's my initial problem:I think I Blew It. Tried to move iTunes from OS (C:) to DATA (D:). First I now realize that I should have come here first. But I didn't. I basically copied all of my iTune files into DATA (D:) and deleted them from OS (C:). Now when I open iTunes nothing is there. I left a couple of folders that wouldn't transfer from (C:) to (D:). One is a temp file 2, another is iTunes Music Library XML. doc. My iTunes music folder is empty and my iTunes library folder is pretty much empty too. The folders in DATA (D:) still have my 30 GB of music. So I wonder if I can undo this fiasco?
Here's where I am at today:Well I somehow got my library back. But I think I now have a couple copies of it on different drives. I configured the iTunes settings to feed off D drive but my problem now is I can't sync my ipod completely. I get the infamous "Disk cannot be read from or written to" when syncing iPod" message. I've tried restoring the ipod, creating a sync folder, checking and getting windows updates, and enabling the disc. I'm totally lost here. Please help all wise ones....

Let me add the advice Polydorus gave me to get back library: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1327455&tstart=0 You haven't give enough information to tell exactly what the problem is.
Did you copy the iTunes folder to the d: drive, this folder contains the library databases and the iTunes Music folder.
If you did that, you can try starting iTunes with the shift key held down, when asked to choose a library, navigate to the iTunes folder on the external drive and choose iTunes Library.itl.
This only works if you copied the iTunes folder and you had a default arrangement with all your music files in the iTunes Muisc folder in the iTunes folder.
If you didn't do that and you don't mind losing your counts, ratings and playlists you can do the following:
I am going to assume that you still have your iTunes folder on the c:drive. Close iTunes and drag iTunes Library.itl and iTunes Music library.xml out of the iTunes folder to the desktop.
Then open iTunes and an empty library is created, first go to Editit>>Preferences>>Advance>>Gneral and check that the location of the iTunes Music folder is correctly set, then add the iTunes Music folder to iTunes with File>>Add folder to library. If you have music in other folders, you add those too.
Note that these two possibilities do not cover all eventualities, you will need to explain exactly what you did for further advice. POST NOTE: I basically drug the libray to the desktop and opened iTunes with the shift key held down, when asked to choose a library, I did and it came back.

  • THE Solution for partial sync or no sync of contacts and calendars and iPhone malfunctions!

Alright. So...this worked for me too. Finally...and no hlep from the apple store OR apple care! Got a new phone from apple store...FAIL...no call back from Sr. Tech...FAIL.
    So...I did the following:
    On the phone first:
    1) Switch to airplane mode
    2) Reboot phone by holding top key and front button until apple logo appears (not red slider to turn off phone)
    3) Settings - iCloud - Turn contacts OFF - Delete From Phone (make sure you get a check mark after completion)
    Then on the Mac:
    4) Open address book on mac
    5) Command + A to select all contacts in address book...double tap trackpad and export as V card
    6) Command + A to select all contacts in address book...goto Edit...drop down menu and choose delete cards
    7) Verify all are deleted on iCloud because the address book is synced to my iCloud account
    8) Drag and drop vcard backup back into all contacts in address book or choose import from File menu in address book
    9) Verify all contacts were back on iCloud by visiting iCloud on my computer's browser
    Back to the phone:
    10) Turn Airplane mode off...make sure I connected to my WiFi network
    11) Settings - iCloud - Turn contacts ON
Voila! Got 483 of my 488 contacts...good enough for me...only had 99 to 149 for the past month!!!!
OH - This also fixed my calendar issue...all my appointments are back!
    Hope this helps somebody!
    - Beau

  • How can you get back a lost high score after a partial sync?

I was playing a Temple Run game, which I was currently getting a high score on, when I plugged it into my computer to charge. Since it was the first time I had plugged it in, the Mac asked me to do some stuff. After my iPod started to sync, everything was fine. I then had to leave, so I ejected it and left. It kept syncing until I was out of the wi-fi range and down the road. I go into Temple Run, and find my game I was playing gone. The coins weren't added, and the high score wasn't even updated. When I came home, I tried syncing it again, and the info still didn't come back. Is is possible to regain the data back? I just really want the 7 million high score back...

Try restoring from backup.  If yu did not backup since you messed up, restoring from backup should get you back to when the backup was made. Got to iTunes>Preferences>Devices and check the box that says "Prevent iPod...syncing" otherwise when you connect, a backup will be made that does not contain the info you want.

  • Partial Syncing Issues

I am having a problem with my iPhone 4s.  I can sync my music and my apps, but for some reason, it is not syncing my podcasts and movies anymore (it has worked in the past).  I have all the settings for syncing correct.  Can anyone help?

    Welcome to AD!
No, you can't authorize a dead PC until you hit 5 authorizations and use the "Deauthroize All". The deauth all button will not show up until you have 5.
Your post sounds like you may have forgotten about an old account. Right-click > Get Info on one of those tracks that won't play. On the summary tab, does the +Purchased By+ and +Account Name+ look familiar?

  • IPad only partially syncs with iTunes

I'm so fed up with dealing with iTunes Support... They are more than useless - it would help if they could actually understand my problem, but they dont seem to have a grasp of the english language, let alone have any ability to assist me with my issue.
Okay, so here I am, begging for help as this is now the 4th week that my iPad hasnt been functioning!!
I purchased a couple of TV series on the iPad (along with applications). When I sync the iPad with my iTunes account, the applications migrate over with no issues. However, when I try and sync the TV Series, it tells me they werent bought using the same account as my iTunes account, so wants to erase the programs before syncing with iTunes.
When the iPad is plugged into iTunes, you can right click on the TV Series stored on the iPad - it clearly states under the 'get info' that the shows were bought with the same account (funny that!)
Has anyone else experienced this problem? Does anyone have any bright ideas? Apple support clearly doesnt and I'm really starting to get fed up with their imbecilic responses!
