Partial visibility of rows in Jtable

Hi ,
I have created a JTable and added it to the scrollpane as
viewport v= scrollpane.getViewport();
v.setSize(300,300)
v.add(table);
i have some 60 rows to be displayed .
Initially when the table is shown , it is showing 19 rows (0 to 18)
and 19 th row is partly shown .but i want even the 19th row to be shown completely .
I am multiplying 19* table.getRowHeight() ,this gives the height required for 19 rows
this i am setting it to viewport height , but still the 19 the row is not fully shown
here is the code
JViewport parent = (JViewport)table.getParent();
if(parent!=null)
Rectangle pos = parent.getViewRect();
Rectangle bounds = pos.getBounds();
//height should accomadate all 19 rows
int height = 19*getRowHeight();
//width will be same as before
int width = new Double( bounds.getWidth()).intValue();
//create a new dimension and set to the view
parent.setViewSize(new Dimension(width,height));
If i am not clear ,let me know please.

... use ...
Rectangle cellRect = getCellRect(0, 0, true);
// then cellRect.height * 19;
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4/docs/api/javax/swing/JTable.html#getCellRect(int,%20int,%20boolean)
OR
(getRowHeight() + getRowMargin()) * 19

  • JViewport not drawing partially visible components

    I have a JViewport (no scrollbars; I control the viewPosition programatically).
    Its View component is a JPanel containing left-to-right components in FlowLayout.
    Sometimes if a component of the FlowLayout would be only partially visible, it does not get drawn at all.
    If user resizes the window (and the viewport gets resized that way), the partially visible component is always drawn. (I am not even manually handling this Event.)
    But if I programatically resize one of the FlowLayout components, then I expect the ones to the right to move accordingly. They do, but then if the last visible one becomes only partially visible as a result of the move, then it is not drawn AT ALL. Calling validate() on the FlowLayout-JPanel and on the JViewport does not seems to solve this.
    Anyone know about this? Is it something that FlowLayout is doing on purpose?
    /Mel

    The reason that FlowLayout wraps my stuff when an already-contained component is widened but does not wrap when a new component is added (alway at the right; never on new row), is because the width field of the container component is not automatically changed upon the resize but must be recalculated upon the add.
    I looked at code from FlowLayout's layoutContainer method (included below), and it appears that the decision to wrap is based solely upon the target container's existing width:
          int maxwidth = target.width - (insets.left + insets.right + hgap*2);
              // (where target is the container being laid out)
          if ((x == 0) || ((x + d.width) <= maxwidth)) // (where
                                                                                 // x is the x-"pixel counter" for placing next component
                                                                                 // d.width is width of the component being placed)
              then will be put on same row
          else
              will start a now rowHowever, while reading FlowLayout, I also discovered that its preferredLayoutSize method calculates a size for as if components were all on one row, i.e. returns width = (sum of all components + insets + hgaps), height = (max of all components + insets + vgaps). Therefore, I believe the simplest solution to my problem is to change the container's width field anytime a component resizing occurs, with the following line inserted right after the resize but before the validate:
    [existing code that sets the label's new text, which used to be followed by validate()]
    this.setSize(this.getLayout().preferredLayoutSize(this).width, this.getHeight());
    validate();It works! (But I know it is making the calculation loop through all of the container's components occur more often than I would like in gui's event thread -- response doesn't look too bad though...)

  • How can you make movie clips partially visible?

    Okay, so this sounds simple, but I'm tottally lost... I'm a thirteen year old boy that has been using Flash for a little over 3 years. I program video games. I recently embarked on a game where one of the modes is to be split screen, player one gets the top half, player 2 the bottom. The promblem with this is that my game is based off of a moving background, where inorder to keep the main character centered the background moves instead of them. Becsause of this,when setting up split screen, the screen on the upper layer takes over the bottom because there would be more showing then there would be in the game: Parts would be off screen. I was wondering if there was anyway that using hitTest(s) (or some other method) you could make a movie clip partially visible/ invisible. I know the code for making something invisible when touching something else. But I was wondering if there was a way to make only the part of the movie clip touching another movie (it would have its alpha turned off... let's say it's a hitBox) or only the part of the movie clip touching the hitBox visible, invisible. Another way of looking at this is that I want a movie clip to be a small box, but inside I want their to be a huge picture. I want to make it so that when you move the picture different parts are viewable in this little box. And to make this as clear as I can... : I want to make a circle that I'll call the magnifying glass. I want to make an invisible picture that can be moved using code (I know that part). I want it so that when part of the picture is under the magnifying glass it's visible, not the hole thing, jus that circular area. Another reason I'd like to have this promblem solved is for a moving water effect. I want to make a movie clip and tween showing a square of rushing water, but without putting anything over parts of it (other than a hitBox) I want to make only a squiggly line of that water box visible. Thank you so much! =D I really hope you guys know! =D P.S. I also am currently using the trial of CS4, if that helps anything. But if it's only possible in AS3, then it's impossible to me because I use AS2 conservatively.

    Thanks... but I think you've misunderstood my question. I suppose magnifying glass wouldn't be the right word... I just wanted to explain that I want only the part of one mc touching another mc to be visible. I hope this isn't confusing. I have no need to enlarge an image. I want to make a movie clip only partially visible. Check out the fla.

  • How to hide row in JTable?

    Hi all,
    How to hide some specific rows in JTable for user view filtering purpose?
    Thanks

    Try to use the Table Model.
    The "getValueAt" Methode decide what to Display.
    So a simple "if" command can hide the complete row - or a single Statement.
    public Object getValueAt(int row, int col) {
    ArrayList al = new ArrayList();
    StueliTeil tabellenzeile = (StueliTeil) getDaten().get(row);

    Hi!
    I'm used to remove rows from JTables getting the model and doing a removeRow(num) like this:

    But with ADF and JDeveloper the model says it's a JUTableBinding.JUTableModel but its not accessible.
    How to remove a row in Jdeveloper 10.1.3.4.0?

    Or maybe is just better to refresh data in the jTable but I do not know either like doing it.

  • Delete row in JTable

    Hello I am new To JAVA SWING
    I have 2 questions related to JTable
    1) How do i remove selected row in JTable ...for instance, I click on the row to delete (It is selected) , later I press the delete button, and then row is removed .... any hints ?
    2) If I would like to save the rows in a JTable into a database , .... How can iterate through the rows in the JTable..each row .... the rows are saved in a List object...and a List Object is what I pass as a parameter in a class method in order to be saved into Database.
    Thanks,
    deibys

    1) use the removeRow(...) method of the DefaultTableModel
    20 use table.getModel().getValueAt(...) to get the data from the model and create your list Object.

    All the thing you have to do is to return a boolean for the column. JTable will use a checkbox (as default) to show boolean values.

  • Hide row in Jtable

    Please I need help
    How can I hide a row in Jtable.
    For example if you push a button hide first row.

    One simple way you can do is:
    just remove this row but keep it somewhere so that you may add it back when you want later. :-)

  • Selecting Row in JTable

    Dear friends,
    When i select a whole row in JTable it gets selected but the background color of the row selected does not change. i.e. Its not highlighted as in MS-Excel.
    How can i overcome this problem?
    Kindly reply
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    Thanx for ur inputs. This is what the code i wrote. When u run this code,
    If we select row1 column1 the cells highlighted will be on row 2, 3 and 4. If we select row1 column 2 the selected cells will be on row 1, 3 and 4. I want the row to be selected fully when we select coumn 1 only.
    For eg. if i select row 200 from column 1 the 200 th row should only be fully highlighted
    Anyway i'll try the above code and check
    Here is the code
