Partially downloaded TV show episode, suddenly starts over...

I am living in Uganda, accessing the internet with a SLLOOOWWW dial up connection. I have purchased a season pass to a TV show, and have been downloading available episodes. Twice now, a show has been excruciatingly close to complete (after over 12 hours of downloading), then suddenly it seems that all the data is lost, and it starts over from scratch. Suddenly I'm back at 0MB of 493.6MB - 16 hours remaining. Ouch. Anyone know where the partially downloaded episodes are saved? I'm curious to know if the data was really lost...
Any help would be much appreciated...

I know you may not have any other options, but keep in mind that iTunes requires a broadband connection. Dial-up can cause all sorts of yuckiness.
If downloading never seems to complete, you may want to consider the following:
1.) Disable all anti-virus software you may have running
2.) Disable all firewall software you may have running
3.) Disable all web acceleration software you may have running (this is especially important for dial-up users such as yourself)
4.) If you are connected to the internet via an internet router, please disconnect it and connect directly via your broadband modem
Dial-up + security software can have some strange results sometimes.
Hope this helps. Keep us updated

  • Why doesn't the new i-tunes allow me to save partial downloads of shows?

at my home base i start to download a show but then i receive a network error. the download starts all over. i go to another city for business, use the internet access but i-tunes allows me to pause and resume my download of shows. this question may have been answered but i am totally stymied. why did they change i-tunes? before you could pause and resume. i live in indonesia so downloading is often interrupted, thus always having to restart my downloads.

Please, I am a travelling consultant and have the same problem, I just recently bought 24 season 6 and cannot download it. ITunes must have understood this and thought of a way to save partial downloads so in time you could complete the full download. Please can someone answer this question?
    Thanks.

  • My Season pass to the Walking Dead Season 2 will not download or show Episode 3 is available

Episode 3 is not showing up when i check available downloads and thus i cannot download it. Episode 3 of season 2 is already available for purchase on the Walking dead page but for some reason it is not working, please help, i know others are experiencing this aswell since i asked this question on yahoo answers.

I opened a ticket with iTunes support yesterday and recieved this as a reply:
Thank you for contacting iTunes Store Customer Support. My name is Emmanuel and I am happy to help you today.
I understand you would like to download "Save the Last One", episode 3 of The Walking Dead, Season 2. I certainly understand your concern and will provide the necessary information.
Dave, generally, the television networks provide Apple with the latest episode of each show within 24 hours of the original air time. Occasionally, there can be a delay.
You can rest assured that Apple is working to make this episode available on the iTunes Store as soon as possible. You will receive an email once the episode has been provisioned for the season pass.
Thank you for your patience. Apple appreciates your business and loyalty.
Which tells me they didn't read my complaint correctly.  I replied back about an hour ago & haven't recieved anything yet.
Searching around the web, I've discovered that this has been an periodic, on-going issue with season passes since roughly 2007.   Saving a $1.50 isn't worth this head-ache.
I also tried called apple support in Canada and after being bounce around for half an hour I was told nobody would help me over the phone & I had to go through the web site.
All this is after they charged me twice for the season's pass too.  That they've sorted, but I can't say I've been impressed with my experiences with my first season's pass.

  • Downloaded tv show episodes. Bought the entire season and after watching one and downloaded first 4-5 they disappeared.  This was during the time I was trying to migrate stuff from an older mac mini. Help?

I downloaded several episodes of the tv show "touch."  I purchased the entire season and had watched one show.  It took quite some time for each show to download, but I had downloaded 4-5.
About this time (within the last two weeks) I was trying to use migration assistant to migrate information from my older mac mini and my macbook.  while I was able to move things from my older mac mini I noticed that the tv show went missing.
Also I purchased a program called 'Touched" in a season pass.  After I downloaded a couple of episodes I watched one and continued to download the episodes as they were available.
I also purchased a program called "Tune Up" which elminates duplicates of iTunes songs.  I have a large collection and this helped to get rid of the duplicates faster than clicking on them one at a time.  Maybe this had something to do with the tv shows episodes and the podcasts disapeering.
    Any ideas?

    This may help

As far as the TV series being in 1080p then that is upto the content provider and some older seasons are in 720p or only SD eg Stargate
It may well be that the season you want is only available in 720p

  • Downloaded TV Show Episode Doesn't play. Requesting a Redownload.

I purchased a Season Pass for Season 12 of Top Gear, and downloaded episode 6 with relish. When i eagerly clicked on the episode there was only a grey screen with the audio playing over it. I deleted it expecting iTunes to allow me to re download the movie properly like say, Steam for PC games would. I learned shortly after that iTunes doesn't allow you to redownload purchases. I would like a refund or another download of the same episode.

i think i have had the same problem, just downloaded an episode of desperate housewives and i can her everything perfectly but all i can view is a green screen?! Did you manage to get it sorted with your top gear episodes? and if so how?

  • Playing partially downloaded TV show

It seems that I can play a TV show purchased from the iTunes Store while it's still downloading if I'm in iTunes, but it doesn't show up in Front Row.
Does anyone know how to get it to show up in Front Row while it's still downloading?
As it is, it really negates the point of a remote control, and makes me sit in the really, really front row.

Front Row is not iTunes. Front Row does have access to the iTunes library, however. Until the TV show is available in the iTunes library, I don't think there's any way to make it play in Front Row. Why not just watch it in iTunes since that works?

  • TV show episode not downloading

every time i try to download TV show episode, itunes give me this massage :unable to check for available downloads, the itunes store is temporarily unavailable. please try again later.

Sorry, but there is no iTunes Store for Saudi Arabia and the terms of use of the iTunes Store for those countries in which one exists prohibit use of the Store from outside of it's country (there have been indications that Apple is now actually blocking access from IP addresses outside of the applicable country). So we cannot help you with this issue here, nor will the iTunes Store customer service department be likely to help you access an iTunes Store from another country.

  • Hulu quits playing and starts over

Hulu and netflix play and work fine for a random amount of time then either just stop and go back to the show screen or start over at the beginning of the episode.  Have tried restarting.

I'm having the same problem with long YouTube and Vimeo videos.  I get the message "lost network connection."  Frustratingly, I then have to re-search for the video, start over at the beginning, then fastf orward to the part that I was watching.
The thing that doesn't make sense to me is that this happens even though the video/TVshow/VideoPodcast is often totally buffered by that point.  It seems silly that the device has to have absolutely continuous connection at that point.   Is there any way to turn off this alert?    I have a strong fast network connection, but, every once in a while, a few packets will be skipped for several seconds.  This is no problem in a computer and a browswer.  I don't see why it should be a problem with ATV.

  • Availability of TV show episodes from Irish iTunes

Anyone any idea how to download tv show episodes if you have an Irish account? The link seems to only be on the USA sites. I know licensing etc wont allow current ones to be downloaded, but I was hoping to access some old episodes of like CSI etc.
Any ideas let me know, Thanks.

Sorry, but you can't. The owners of the shows have not yet allowed Apple to sell any shows, new or old, anywhere outside of the US. If or when this will ever be allowed, no one here knows or can say.
Forum Tip: Since you're new here, you've probably not discovered the Search feature available on every Discussions page, but next time, it might save you time (and everyone else from having to answer the same question multiple times) if you search a couple of ways for a topic before you post a question.
    Regards.

Close All Open Apps...  Sign Out of your Account,,,, Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

  • TS3623 I recently purchased a season pass for a TV show on my aple tv I downloaded th first episode and when I went to watch it it started to download again and is now frozen at "ready to watch in 44 minutes"?????

I recently purchased a season pass for a TV show on my apple tv I downloaded the first episode and when I went to watch it it started to download again and is now frozen at "ready to watch in 44 minutes"????? I have had it do the reloading process on an entire season of another show (very frustrating) but have never had it freeze up like this? any help out there?

There is no accessible storage so that is why it needs to reload. The time it take is dependent on your network. Not sure why it is freezing this time but you may want to try a reboot (hold the menu and down arrow for a few seconds until the light starts flashing and then release)

  • My iPad 1 has suddenly started to sync Events from my iPhoto library incorrectly. It seems to break down Events to separate dates - so if an Event was photographed over 2 days, it is showing as 2 separate events with the same name.

Posted this before I realised there is an update for the iPhoto app 9.1.3 which sorts the problem.

I've been trying to down load the new itunes version and I'm stuck on All your music in one place but now it's been stuck there for over 20 minutes.  Do I need to start over or is this normal?

The sort fields should generally be empty unless you've putting in custom values to sort solo artists by their surnames. You can apply common changes to thousands of tracks at once, just don't apply the wrong change because there is no undo.
It is a good idea to backup before undertaking large scale changes. See this backup tip for a suggested approach.

I purchased a tv series and downloaded the first episode, when I went to download the next episode a message popped up saying "this computer is already associated with an apple id.....You can download past purchases on this computer with just one Apple ID every 90 days. You cannot associate this computer with a different Apple ID for 41 days" and won't let me download the rest of the shows even though I haven't changed accounts and I'm using the same account I purchased the shows with.

It's been months, so you may not care anymore, but you can't download songs from multiple Apple IDs over a 90 days period.  Sorry, it's not allowed for legal reasons.
