Partially solved my itunes 8 install on Vista 64

So I was getting the problem that itunes 8 wouldn't finish the install on my Vista 64 system. It kept reverting back the changes and not installing itunes. This was with the latest available itunes864.exe available on the download page. Also I noticed that even though it said it was the 64 bit version, it was installing in the x86 program files section and not in the "correct" 64 bit folder. If I tried to change the install directory, the install automatically crashed.
So I decided to try and install the normal 32bit itunes8 setup and voila! everything installed just fin and itunes works just fine... except for one tiny little thing: It won't recognize my iphone and says I have to install the 64 bit version in order to sync with it.
I will try and install the 64 bit version over the 32bit and see if it maybe works now.
It didn't work an it borked my old install. WTG Apple!

yeah well, i too suffered another freeze. this time the restart corrupted the file system. that really ****** me off. i had to try various things over an hour to get my machine back online, all the while thinking i would have to reinstall everything from scratch and possibly face bad sectors on my raid 0 array.
i will try one last time, this time with the 32 bit version of itunes. if i get the same problems, i am nixing itunes forever, never to use another apple product again.
i am a power user, and before itunes7 and 8 x64 versions, this machine was running rock solid without a single hickup.

Itunes wont install on vista, No digital signature

I had a problem were Itunes would not update or anything Apple related (quicktime etc) so i deleted Itunes and tried to run it as a fresh copy.
Yet when i download it and try to run the application i get the box from windows asking me if i want to run it, but in this box next to publisher it says unknown.
When i click run nothing happens. The box disappears and thats that.
If i click on the application and go into properties and go into digital signatures it says the digital signture is not valid. Ive tried downloading it with Explorer, Firefox incase that was it. I have even done a clean install of windows and tried to install itunes first incase there was a conflict.
Can anyone please help because its driving me nuts!

Mr. Peck-- Would like your advice re: where to post this question. I cannot update ITunes and Quicktime to the newest version using apple update in the windows environment. I have tried disabling antivirus software without help. Error is that it is not receiving a "valid signature." Installation on the mac side of updated quicktime and Itunes works fine. Windows version is XP SP3-- with appropriate updates.
Is there a solution that you know of? Where would you suggest posting this question?

Error 2330 on Itunes 8 install on vista log attatched... I need some help

I can't tell if this is quicktime or itunes, but I really could use some help here. I think I have spent 10 hours trying various fixes on this. Does anyone know of a fix?

I can't make sense of all that, there seem to be several things going on.
What error to you get from the installer itself rather than the event viewer?
In general, 2330 errors can be due to filing system problems so, a good start would be to run a disk check.
Then try again if it finds errors.
If it still doesn't work try the general install troubleshooting in this article:

It would help if you say what you have tried and what the results were if you have been working on this for some time.

ITunes will not work on Fresh INstall of Vista x64 SP1

I have a strange issue. I have a Windows Vista x64 with SP1 (Yes the DVD is a production DVD from Microsoft not a slip stream copy.) and I wanted to do a fresh install of Vista with SP1. Reinstalled OS and everything is running great but iTunes. When I start iTunes I get this error message about "mssip32.dll" being damaged or corrupt please reinstall the app. So I looked around good old Google and apple.com. I found several fixes about re-registering a set of dll files. So did them all, no change. Reinstalled Vista from scratch again, no change. So for the heck of it I reinstalled Vista with no SP1 installed and then applied SP1 and it works fine. I reinstalled Vista with SP1 and have been running it for over a week and everything on the system is tested and solid as a rock with no issues. The only program that will not work is iTunes. I have also tried all the way back to version 7.4 and no luck.
Any ideas on this?

That suggests that the installer is getting damaged during the download.
I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:

CAN'T INSTALL ITUNES 9 ON WINDOWS VISTA 64-BIT OS

I'm having a reaaaallly hard time installing iTunes on my Windows Vista 64-bit OS. Everytime I think it's about to finish installing, it shows me this message:
What does it mean?? Can someone PLEASE help me, I haven't had music on my iPhone for 4 weeks now!

Curses ... you did everything right by providing the screenshot, thanks. But we really need to see the error message number that shows up after the "HRESULT" bit for one of those, and it's deciding not show us that.
Okay ... people who get these error messages for iTunes installs typically are also getting Windows updates failures too. So we'll try to work out what the iTunes/Updates issue is by checking your Update history.
Go into your Windows Update and click "Update History". Have updates been failing for you recently? If so, doubleclick on each failure to bring up a small window showing some info about the failure.
What error message codes are you getting for the Windows Updates failures? (For example, 0x8007000B, or something else?)

Cannot install itunes 7.7 with Vista due to bonjour service issues

(I do have itunes version 7.6.2.9 working fine with no issues on vista)Cannot install itunes 7.7 becoz vista doesnt let bonjour service to run, While trying to start the Bonjour service from the Windows Services console gives an other error: "Windows could not start the Bonjour service on Local Computer. For more information, review the System Event Log. If this is a non-Microsoft service, contact the service vendor, and refer to service-specific error code -65549." I wonder if it is worth looking in the your firewall configuration>>Programs and deleting any entry for Bonjour - in the hope that you will be prompted to allow it or not when you do the install, or maybe adding it back with permit all.

ITunes 10 Install on Win Vista x64 Failure

Unable to install iTunes 10 on Windows Vista even after uninstalling iTunes completely.
I opened iTunes and it told me that there was a new version to download and install. So I downloaded the iTunes64Setup.exe file and executed it, making sure to run it as administrator. Long story short, the install failed with the message.
"There is a problem with this Wndows Installer Package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support or package vendor"
Things I have tried, all have failed.
1. Redown loading the file
2. Trying to install the 32 bit version (It says I need the 64bit version for my OS)
3. Completely uninstalling and reinstalling. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1925
4. Turning off Anti-Virus (AVG) and trying to install
When I look at the installed programs after getting the failure message, I see that it is installing the following applications. So it's bombing out on the next step whatever that is.

I have spent many hours scouring the internet looking for solutions to this problem without success. The information I do find seems to be several years old and all seem to be roughly the same, which is to completely uninstall iTunes and reinstall. These ones are typically caused by underlying problems on the PC that also often cause Windows Updates to fail to install. If we can fix the Windows Update trouble, we can usually get the iTunes trouble cleaned up en passant.
Go into your Windows update and try to check for new updates. If updates install, stock up on the ones you're behind on, restarting the PC if requested to do so. After the restart, try installing iTunes again. Does it go through this time for you?
If windows updates fail to install, go into your Update History and doubleclick the failures. What alphanumeric codes appear for you? (For example, 8007000B.)

ITunes 7.1 - Windows Vista

Anyone else have any luck getting iTunes 7.1 working on Vista? I have a fresh install of Vista Ultimate. iTunes 7.1 was the first install of iTunes on this computer. Upon installing and importing my music Vista blue screens. It will blue screen everytime you try nd import music. System boots then sends a message off to Microsoft since the system crashed.
Good thing I have a MAC, I guess.

Jason, 7.1 is supposed to address many of the Vista issues. From the article you linked to:
