Partially stuck mouse trackpad affecting scroll and mouse use

On my Macbook Pro Retina, I noticed the track pad kind of half stick in the lower left corner. It's almost like when the button would jam but a halfway catch i feel when i put light pressure on different parts of the trackpad.
Ever since the partial stick my scrolling and use of the mouse is affected as if i had an extra finger down doing other things or moving more slowly... Or it'll scroll normal speed then slow down drastically and vice versa. I've tried restarting and noted that it's probably a physical issue because nothing help except very carefully trying to counter with pressure on the upper right area...
Has this happened to anyone? How much is it gonna cost me to fix it? I just got this Macbook less than a year ago (Jan-Feb 2013) and I'm sad the trackpad is already giving me problems even though I RARELY actually CLICK with the button... How did the button manage to (partially) stick?

I had a similar problem, they replaced my trackpad and keyboard $285.00

  • New magic trackpad not scrolling and wiping.

i have a new magic trackpad, using it with my iMac. on my account it works, except for scrolling and wiping. as soon as i have two fingers on it the cursor is unmovable. (one, three, four fingers ok) the two fingers are the most important gestures. and they don't work. my magic mouse behalfs normally, scrolling and wiping ok.
on the account of my wife -same imac- the trackpad is working normally.
i tried to unmark and mark every item in the prefs. no succes.
    any ideas?

    Glad it working now!!
The preferences are set individually for each user on the Mac.  That way you can have one set of preferences and your wife can have her own.  That's why one worked and the other didn't.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
That's a Mountain Lion feature. To turn it off, open System Preferences > Trackpad > Scroll and Zoom, and turn off "Scroll direction: natural". For the mouse, open System Preferences > Trackpad and turn off "Scroll direction: natural"

  • Spontaneous scrolling and mouse clicks

Not sure if this is a hardware problem or an OS or software problem, (or even one problem) but here goes. So far these problems have occurred in Word, Xcel and AOL as well as Finder.
    1. When working on a Word or Excel doc., spontaneously my window scrolls to the right so the left margin is obscured. I scroll manually back, but it does immediately back to the left. Sometimes a restart alleviates the problem temporarily. Sometimes I can work fine the entire session with no occurrence of the problem.
    2. In Excel, I can be working along fine, when suddenly spontaneous paragraph returns appear in my spreadsheet.
    3. In AOL, in the mailbox and AOL-address book windows, I can't stay scrolled vertically to where I want to be. The window bounces back to the top or bottom of the list. My mailbox is often pretty full and deleting old mail helps the problem. But my address book isn't that large and I should be able to scroll up and down.
Also sometimes AOL will open messages from the mailbox without my clicking on them, and sometimes sends messages before I'm ready.
Today, while I was having this problem I force-quit AOL. Without waiting for me to press enter or click the mouse, Finder force quit every application that was open.
I've rebooted, repaired permissions and used TechTool Deluxe, and everything reports OK. But the problems persist.

Take a look at java.awt.event.MouseAdapter, which implements interfaces MouseListener, MouseMotionListener, MouseWheelListener and EventListener.
For sample codes on how to use these classes, read through the posts on the Swing forum and you'll find plenty.

  • Very slow scroll and mouse sweep in Elements 9 Organizer

My organizer has suddenly started to scroll very very slowly when looking through multiple thumbnails. Even if I move the mouse across the thumbnails, it takes seconds to register the mouse has passed over.
Once you do set a scroll in motion, you can't stop it. You just have to wait till its done its slow thing!! I've switced off auto media stuff (Auto face recognition etc) Updated thumbnails, repaired the catalogue (Even though it didn't need it)
Only around 3500 images, not large.  At the request of the Help Team I re-downloaded the programme. Still Slow scrolling. Why is it doing this???

  • Using mouse wheel to zoom and pan

I was wondering if there would be a way to make a javascript that would load at Photoshop's startup that would allow the user to zoom in and out using the mouse wheel (instead of using it for scrolling), and to use that same mouse wheel as a third button (when you push on the mouse wheel) or any third button on a three button mouse to pan in your image. I'm a 3ds max user and I love the way the navigation work in that software so it'd be great to be able to do that for Photoshop and Illustrator and get rid of those useless key shortcuts that we need to use to zoom and pan.
For the pan fonction, I guess if there was a way to simply say "when the third mouse button is pressed, press the space button, until the mouse button is released" it could work. But then it would force the panning to stop when the mouse goes offscreen, unlike in 3ds max where you can pan for whatever distance you want, even if you have the loop throught the screen ten times.
For the zoom function, if scolling up could simply "push" the keyboard shortcuts to zoom in/ zoom out it could work, but I don't know if that's possible. And then we'd have to disable the scrolling up and down in the document.
Anyways, if anyone has any ideas about that let me know! I've been looking for that for such a long time!

Not sure if I am misreading your post, but there is an option in the preferences that allows you to choose Zoom With Scroll Wheel. With this option active you hold the ALT key to scroll.
My Logitech mouse has a tilt wheel on it and this works fine in Photoshop. It doesn't loop through the screen but it does pan left and right with no problem. On this mouse the scroll wheel can also be pressed, and can be programmed to almost any key, I use for double click.
Forgive me if I've misunderstood your question.

  • Magic Mouse won't scroll on my ppc

Just got the Magic Mouse for my G5 PowerMac, I got it connected via a USB device, only problem is the scroll is not working at all. I'm running 10.5.8 and updated the mouse software but still no luck.

I've used USB Overdrive in the past but in this case it does nothing as the 'scroll' on the Magic is not a button as such.
Like I said I ran the Lepoard mouse update with no change, I've tried a number of thing and restarted the G5 more time yesterday than I have in the last year.
I like the Magic Mouse especially the scroll and swipe features (I've used in store), guess I'll have to wait for my new iMac to make full use of it and make sure that it comes with the Magic Touch Pad when I order it.

  • Mouse & trackpad lose connectivity

The mouse & trackpad lose connectivity whilst in use for no apparent reason.
Installed fresh batteries in each device with no effect & connection drops out whilst using.
Have both devices turned on/operating at same time.

Further to above action , checked with iStudio who advised not to have other devices, such as iPhone or iPad nearby as can cause interference.
    Did following:
    - moved phone & iPad away
    - uninstalled mouse & reinstalled
Seems to have improved operation though the problem still occurs.
Will put Mouse in for service check as still under warranty.

  • Scrolling page whilst using mark up tool ??

In acrobat 6 whilst I was using the polygon fill or rectangle tools, I could use my mouse wheel to scroll and zoom.
In acrobat 9 pro, when i am using any tools, i can't scroll or zoom. I have to move the mouse to the edge of the page to scroll which is painfully slow.
How do i change this back to how Acrobat 6 used to work?
    Cheers

    I can't believe this hasn't been answered.

  • TS2662 trackpad and mouse will not scroll

On 27" iMac using OS 10.7.4, trackpad and mouse will not scroll or swipe, can point with both, click only with mouse, scroll only with keys on keyboard.  What have I done now??? They are all paired with good batteries. Have checked in settings and they are enabled to scroll.

In Lion the scrolling is natural i.e. reversed to the way that computers typically scroll. Think of the scroll as grabbing the page an moving it either up or down vs moving the scroll bar down up or down. Also, the scroll bars are "hidden" by default and only show up when you are scrolling.
Are you using and Apple mouse? If you go to the system preferences and then to the "mouse" section there are options to change the natural scrolling. And if you go to System Preferences and then to "general" you can set it to show or hide the scroll bars.
If this is not what the issue is let me know and let me know what mouse you are using because there is something else that it could be.

  • Decouple trackpad and mouse scrolling?

I am using a Magic Trackpad and Logitech LX7 on a MacPro 1,1 running Lion.
I have tried (using System Preferences for mouse and trackpad) to revert the scroll wheel action to scroll in the "old" direction but when I try that the trackpad scrolling direction also changes.
Is there a way to decouple the scrolling direction of the trackpad and mouse wheel?

I am with you both too. I like natural scrolling on my trackpad, but not on a scroll ball for a mouse. The only solution I can find is what someone else brought up in a different thread: there is an app called "Scroll Reverser" that lets you choose which input devices (mouse, trackpad, or tablet) are reversed. Be warned, it is quite confusing to get set up. At least it was for me. But It is working fine now and is just what I wanted.
