Partially working I think

I am on a 2014 new dell laptop pc with Windows 8 installed including Adobe Flash Player. I have gone through the recommended check list on your site with no luck. It shows I do have Adobe Flash player and it is enabled in add-ons under settings. I am at Criminal Minds Video - Hashtag - CBS.com website trying to watch this video. Normally I can watch videos and animations fine, however on this particular site it tells me I must have Adobe Flash Player in order to view. Please help, not sure what I am doing wrong.

Internet Explorer 11 introduces a number of changes both to how the browser identifies itself to remote web servers, and to how it processes JavaScript intended to target behaviors specific to Internet Explorer. Unfortunately, this means that content on some sites will be broken in Internet Explorer until the content provider changes their site to conform to the new development approach required by current versions of Internet Explorer.
You can try to work around these issues by using Compatibility View:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/use-compatibility-view#ie=ie-11
If that is too inconvenient, using Google Chrome may be a preferable alternative.

International Languages partially working

Dear Apple Discussions,
when I go into System Preferences -> International -> Languages and choose one other than English the changes are only partial.
For example, when I change to Japanese some of the apps. in the Application folder have the Japanese name. However none of the toolbar or input menus are in Japanese.
I have tried this in a new account as well with the same effect.
Also zapped the PRAM and NVRAM just for kicks.
I think remember having installed all the Languages since it didn't add that much to the disk usage. Besides, if it is partially working isn't that an indication of having it installed?
Is there some way of checking to see whether I have the languages installed?

The Japanese was only an example. However, it is relevant since I was wanting too show it to a Japanese colleague of mine. Not even my Finder is translated into Japanese.
However said colleague's new MacBook also running Leopard does show it in Japanese.
When I go into the Package Contents of the Finder I only find the English.lproj folder. Does this mean I didn't install the international languages after all? If not, then why do some of the apps. like Dictionary change their name if I switch to Japanese?

After installing latest update Realplayer recording no longer works, I think Mozila is using a library file with the same name

After installing the latest update to Firefox onto Vista operating system the record part of real player no longer works, I think Mozila and Real are using a library file with the same name and the Mozila update is overwriting a Realplayer library file.

I was giong to say, "Help me, Adobe Joe Kenobi", but it looks like you're growing a beard waiting for an answer, too.
The same thing happened to me today. I trusted the "update" message since it was from Adobe, and apprently did so at my own peril. Now I get the "failed to load Core dll" message with a secondary reference to a memory address.
Just an observation, but what good are these forums when there are no answers? I see this problem as "Caused by Adobe Update", and would expect them to troublshoot and offer up a remedy. Since you've been waiting over two months with no response, I suppose it's time to trek off wasting more of my precious time to fix their problem. If I find the solution, I'll post it back to you.

Have you checked whether you have folder for PSE Organizer? It is normally at this location in Windows 7 and Windows 8/8.1:
<C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Elements 12 Organizer>
If the folder is there then try double-clicking on the file called: PhotoshopElementsOrganizer.exe
If the folder isn't there at all then you need to re-install the package again using your original disks or from download from Adobe website. <Download Photoshop Elements products | 13, 12, 11, 10>

You can't do what you want with iCloud. You will need to setup remote access to your main computer with VPS or some similar remote access application. With VPS you have an application running on your main computer turning it into a server and an client app on your laptop so you can access it remotely. There are many such apps out there, some probably more feature filled than VPS. You might post in the system forum that you're running and ask there.

The HD must be partitioned with GUID partition map and Mac OS extended (journalled) file system. Do not partition the drive into two. When you have a working OS X system, use Boot Camp to create the Windows partition and install Windows.
If you're trying to install Snow Leopard on a Mac that was delivered with Lion installed =
1. It may not be possible at all depending on the Mac.
2. If it is possible, it cannot be done with the retail SL disc which is 10.6.3
3. The only way it can be done is to obtain the original grey discs which would have come with the Mac if it hadn't had Lion installed in the supply chain. They will be at least 10.6.6 and more likely 10.6.7 or .8. You can try to obtain those from Apple Customer Services.

My iPhone 4 only partially works after water damage...

Basically, I dropped my iPhone 4 down the toilet (which was stupid of me in the first place) and got it out of the water as soon as possible. I let out as much excess water as humanly possible without the tools, as I didn't have any on me at that point, and so I let it dry out. It wasn't working at all the next day until I had taken the back off and now I have got it to the stage of turning on and partially working.
When plugged into a power socket it will turn on as usual and get to the screen telling me to plug it into iTunes, but when I plug it into the computer it will turn off and on at the silver Apple logo which means I can't connect it to iTunes. In both cases, as soon as I unplug it, it turns off straight away, but when plugged in it says that it has 100% battery.
I wasn't sure where the major problem was and so I sent it off to a company who fixed that sort of problem, but they told me that there was some corrosion on the inside and that they were unable to fix it which was a pain, and because Apple don't cover liquid damage I don't know what else to try... I bought a new battery just in case the battery had become flooded, but this made no difference so it's definitely not the battery directly.
Has anyone else had this problem and is there a good solution that might help? (And if possible I would like to keep what is on there, but this is not essential...)

IF you would have taken it to Apple, you could have gotten it replaced for US$199. Now that it's been opened by a 3rd party, they will most likely not permit this. If there is corrosion on the inside, it's most likely permanently borked. Sell it for what you can get for parts and buy a new one.

Creative Nomad Muvo stopped working - I think I tried everything... any ide

I received a Creative Labs MuVo 28MB MP3 player as a gift in May of last year. I used it once or twice and it worked fine, then put it aside. I picked it up again the other day, formatted it clean using the formatting software (old drivers) and started using it again. It worked fine until at one point it froze. I could not turn it off with the power button so I pulled the memory stick out of the battery pack. The MP3 player would not turn on again after that. I took it to my computer at work (different computer) to fix the dri've and was able to get the data off first, by installing it as a flash dri've, but after I transferred the data I installed the drivers and attempted to format the flash dri've. After this the dri've would not respond. I can plug in the dri've, either in standard or recovery mode and the computer will find it, but I cannot access the dri've through any means. I don't think the dri've itself is broken, I think that there is something corrupted on it that needs to be cleaned out. Unfortunately I have found no way to reset the dri've.
I have tried each of the methods outlined below on (3) different computers, both with USB . and 2.0 slots. I have tried:-The original drivers, the newest drivers, and the creative removable mass storage drivers-Formatting under windows with the newest drivers (dri've does not respond at all)-Formatting using the old drivers and the formatting utility (the program opens under the media recovery tab and the only thing not greyed out is "cancel")-Repartitioning the dri've under Control Panel/Administrati've Tools/Computer Management (the dri've does not show up, even though it appears up in My Computer)-Formatting the dri've using the Killdisk utility (it finds the dri've but says dri've not ready)-Installing the original firmware (this is interesting - I can plug the dri've in, holding down the play button, and nothing happens. When I run the firmware utility the computer finds the dri've, installs it as a player recovery device, but then the firmware utility tells me that the dri've is not in player recovery mode and to try again. If I try again it gives me the same message.)-Installing the updated firmware (It begins scanning, suddenly windows installs the dri've as a mass storage device [with Creative Muvo as a component] but after 3 minutes of scanning the utility says that there are no USB devices connected.)-Using a 3rd party flash dri've software tool (it finds the dri've, but when I go to format it it says that the dri've contains no media).
I am not sure what to do at this point, but I still believe this thing can be salvaged, if only there was a way to access it. Please tell me any tricks you know.

Bluetooth not working (I think )

Hi everyone, on my iPhone when I turn on bluetooth on, under devices it just says searching with the loading circle thing, but it never loads is this supposed to happen, also I carnt recive anything or send anything via bluetooth.

The only function implemented in the Bluetooth Stack of the iPhone is handsfree, which will work with any standard Bluetooth Headset/Handsfree Kit, not only the Apple Headset

Lightroom on Linux, partially working...

I have been tinkering with getting Lightroom 1.3.1 to run on Linux via Wine .9.53 and have had limited success.

It frustrates me that I have to do things with ZERO assistance from Adobe (I'd pay a premium for a Linux version of Lightroom... if it works on OS X, it's not much more to get it going on Linux.) Once I figure out what libraries they're using to display the photos we should be all set...
When Lightroom 1.3.1 using Wine I haven't been able to get the Develop and Library functionality working properly yet, however Importing and Exporting Photos to/from a Catalog is as fast (or faster) in Linux than it is in Windows...

I'm having a fair amount of success getting LR working.
I was very unimpressed with LightZone on the other hand. The interface is clunky and the stability is almost non-existent.
Last time I checked, it's only released as a 30-day unsupported beta... which is confusing to me... you can only use it for 30 days, but it's not supported -- so who really wants to buy it?
Apparently it's a pet-project of the (or one of THE) lightzone developers.
I am going to attempt Lightroom 2.0 on Linux this week and see if that fares any better than 1.3.1.
I downloaded 1.4 the night it was released (before they pulled it,) but it doesn't sound like much has improved with it.

We have had someone successfully get everything working in Lightroom (except the opening of existing catalogs) with some 3rd party dlls and scripts.
Recently one of the guys helping this process determined how to correct the inability to open existing catalogs... he wrote a WINE patch to fix the problem and I believe that's been submitted to the upstream.
The problem is / was that Lightroom (based on the way it checks storage) thinks that all drives are network drives and refuses to open a catalog over the network.

Person who helped was tt2. I was unable to completely uninstall all elements of itunes. Apple mobile device support would not go I tried repair but no luck still would not uninstall, this may be why I am still unable to download itunes. This is extremely annoying, I have had itunes for years on this computer and now I cannot get any access on it to all my music. Fortunately I have another laptop and itunes is still working but I now think I could lose this as well at anytime.
Really disappointed in Apple.

VS 2008 only partially works

I've installed the latest ODAC and ODP download (ODTwithODAC1110720.zip). After some confusion with Oracle Home I have managed to get everything to work - well almost. If I try to perform a select on smaller tables/views either in code or thru server explorer that is fine However for larger Views it does not work. No error is reported, just no data comes back. In fact I can pull one large table but large Views give me trouble. If I get the query wrong I get an exception. If I do something that does not return much data e.g SELECT COUNT(MY_CODE) FROM MY_VIEW that works.
I get the same behavior whether I do: a small program using OracleDataReader, a Query Window or a new Query.
If I use Sql Plus - there is no problem, all the data comes back.
I have noticed that the large queries that work in Sql plus are preceded by a noticable "think" period but the data streams back anyway.
Any suggestions as to what could be the cause? or are there error log's to look in to perhaps glean more information about what is going on?

Oh well, solved my own problem.
Basically the Query actually was returning no rows; nothing wrong with ODP or vs2008.
The query implicit in the View specified a language (US) whereas my ODP.net install was at (UK). Once this was corrected everything worked like a charm.
The SQL plus install on my machine was old and probably specified (US) somehow, so it added to the confusion by working.
I ran a trace on my machine and that did not help. Running a trace on the server resolved the problem; the trace showed the query plan executed with results and then it was obvious that no rows were being returned.

Did all the things to the apple tv restarted it took hdmi cord out nothing is working I think it's the unit it's self !!

RMI partially working

Alright guys, I am currently trying to run an application that reads the details of a Book from a remote server. The RMIRegistry is running fine, the Server runs no problems and to a certain extent the application is working. See below:

I'm not an RMI Expert, but that exception is thrown because the class you are trying to serialize does not implement java.io.Serializable
Try changing this:
