Partition Not Found

Hi, I'm using Boot Camp to install windows. Using the Boot Camp assistant, I did partition the drive (32 GB for the bootcamp drive, and I see it on the desktop). However, when I go to install windows with the blue screen and everything and when I get to the part where I'm asked to choose on which partition to install windows, all I see is a single partition of ~125GB, no other choices, which is strange because not only do I not see the bootcamp partition but also, this is a new laptop with 250GB. Still, if I use that single partition and install windows, it overrides the Mac OS. Any help would be appreciated.

Hey,
You have two options while creating the Boot Camp partition. 1) Divide equally 2)Use 32 GB. By default the first option will be highlighted. I believe that the partition was created by dividing the hard drive equally as you have 125 GB for Windows from a 250 GB hard drive.
You can also check this from the Mac Desktop. Right Click on the Boot Camp partition on the desktop and go to Get Info. It will tell you how much is the size of the partition.
Can you remove the boot camp partition and try to recreate it?
Make sure that you are clicking on the Use 32 GB option and the Windows partition above that shows up as 32 GB before continuing with the Partition.
Reply back with updates.

    Bnathie,
This error occurs if there is any problem with the partitions of the hard drive. You can boot with Recovery disk 1, go to command prompt and use disk part tool to resolve the problem.
However, I would like to understand when this issue started to give better steps in detailed.
    I am an HP employee.

  • "Recovery partition not found" when trying to creat recovery discs.

I received the following error message when trying to create recovery discs for the first time "recovery partition not found"  HP G61 401SA Notebook and it is a couple of years old and has windows 7 as th OS.
I specifically purchased DVD-R discs for the disc creation, which was advised from HP site was the only disc suitable.
Am I doing something incorrect or is there an issue?
Is this why I am unable to also create a back up - are the two things related?

I did not know you are volunteer helpers - thanks goodness for people like you as trying to contact HP support for help was impossible and seemed like I kept going around in circles. No worries.    We are here to help.
One more thing, could you advise on how much space the recovery might be approximately - I will need to make sure a USB has enough memory available. Take another look at the disk management window. The partition sizes are visible in the descriptions. My HP loaner has a large recovery partition at >20GB. That mean I had to use a 32GB usb flash drive Most others are smaller and a 16GB usb flash drive will suffice.

  • [SOLVED] Upgrade hard drive: Grub error 22: Partition not found

I'm trying to move to a different hard drive.  I booted a live cd, created the partitions, formatted, and used "cp -a" to copy all the files over.  I also updated the fstab on the new drive, and now I would expect everything to work.  However, I can't get past grub.
When I boot up, I get "grub error 22: partition not found".

I solved this by using the uuid instead of the root:
    # (0) Arch Linux
    title Arch Linux - SSD
    uuid 128a4425-c9ae-433f-b604-5488d55a14b3
    kernel /boot/vmlinuz26 root=/dev/sdb3 ro vga=775
    initrd /boot/kernel26.img
Also, I got "grub-install" to run much faster by removing the fd0 from the device map.

  • [PPC] new install fails to boot: root partition not found

    Hi,
new ArchPPC installation on a iMac G3. It does not boot further than initramfs because root partition is not found. I get something like:
    Root device /dev/sda4 doesn't exist
    Attempting to created it
ERROR: unable to determine major/minor number of root device /dev/sda4
then I get a dropbox recovery console but keyboard doesn't work.
I chroot in the installed system to change mkinicpio pata hook to ide, regenerated initramfs but that didn't help.
Any guidance to diagnose and solve this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, sorry I just realized you replied to my thread.
I don't have my mac at the moment, but I must have done something like :
    - boot the live CD
    - get the output of lsmod
    - copy this output to mkinitcpio.conf (the one that's on your HD), remove the autodetect hook
    - chroot into your HD setup
    - regenerate initramfs
    - update yaboot (is this really mandatory?)
    - exit chroot and reboot.

  • Recovery partition not found

    Hello,
My computer model is an HP p6330f. I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit. I actually got this PC during May 2010 and just started getting to making the recovery discs. When I first  got it, I made a disc called the "repair disc" and I assumed it was the recovery disc. I recently found out that I was wrong and so when I try to make the recovery discs, I get this error message:
"The recovery partition was not found. Please exit Recovery Disc Creation and then try contacting HP Support."
This happens when I use the Recovery Disc Creation program. Right as I open it, I get that error.

    Hi,
You can order a replacement set of Recovery Discs using the link below.

  • Record Drive/Partition not found

I am getting this message when trying to arm a track for recording :
    Record drive/partition “es/Audio 1/Tom and Dirk/My Own Sweet Time/Audio Files/Audio Recording” not found!
Any ideas? I was recording a take just fine and wanted to record a second take and got the above message. It does it when I create and arm another track for recording. I tried restarting the session, restarting Logic, rebooting the machine, repairing permissions all to no avail. What is going on?

This is a BUG!!! A big one at that.
I know 3 other Logic 8 users experiencing this.
I do not know what causes it, although it may happen after you delete an audio region, like discarding a take.
The "es/Audio 1/ etc... should say "Volumes/Audio 1/ etc... I've gotten "olumes/Audio 1/etc... and even had it read the exact name of the Audio path "Volumes/Audio 1/etc...
However, if you had simply hit the "O.K." button, Logic would have taken you directly inside the proper Audio Files folder, where you would hit O.K. again, and be back up and running.
So while this bug is quite annoying, just click O.K. at the prompts, and the original audio path will be restored.
Hit Logic's Feedback page hard with this one.

  • Partition not found- While deploying to managed server

We are using 11gR1. We have configured a soa managed server. While deploying Sales demo application in BPM Studio, we set up connection to the Admin Server and when we test the connection it is successful. During the last step of deployment, where the SOA managed server is prompted, SOA server is listed properly but we get a message saying that partition is not available.
We went to EM and found that there is a default partition, we also created a new partition and restarted both the servers. But still we face the same error. The Log gives the following information:
    <Error> <RepositoryPartitionModel.class> <BEA- 000000> <Getting Partitions>
Is this a product bug or are we missing out on anything.

    Hi venkat,
I am also having the same problem. Were you able to find out the solution for this issue. I currently manually deploy the GUI EAR from the admin console and the SAR file from the EM.

  • Boot Camp partition not found by Windows installer

So I switched up to Leopard this morning with a fairly smooth Archive and Install.
I've got an XP Pro SP2 CD raring to run some Windows games, so I give Boot Camp Assistant a whirl. I create a 15 GB partition using the Assistant, and it reboots with my XP CD. XP goes through all of its driver loading, and I get past the disclaimer screen. But on the setup screen, where partitions are supposed to be listed, the only partition I see is my 130 GB OS X partition, and nothing else.
I can see the 15 GB Fat32 partition labeled BOOTCAMP in both Leopard, and with a liveCD version of FreeDOS, so I know it's actually there. But the XP installer, for some reason, cannot see it.
Anybody encounter this? Anybody know what I can do? I'm hurting for some Orange Box action.

you need to install windows support software on a usb 2 flashdrive. more simply, start over in bootcamp, insert your usb drive as well as the dvd, check all 3 options. bootcamp will do the rest.
    or it could be a problem with the install disc, why not download win 7 iso from here;
    http://techverse.net/download-windows-7-iso-x86-x64-microsofts-official-servers/
and go with this, its perfectly legal to use your activation code during instalation.

  • Filesystem check failed, root partition not found

    Hi all,
Since yesterday I receive the following error message when booting into Arch:
    :: Mounting root filesystem read-only [ OK ]
    :: Checking filesystems [BUSY]
/dev/sda4: no such file or directory
    *************** FILESYSTEM CHECK FAILED *******************
    * Please repair manually and reboot ...
The device /dev/sda4 is my root partition, which is - after entering the root
password - mounted as /dev/root. Checking the partition with 'reiserfsck
/dev/sda4' does not give any error or warning messages. I can also
successfully remount and access it with 'mount -n -o remount,rw /'.
'ls -l /dev/sda*' gives me the following:
    brw-rw---- 1 root disk 8, 0 Apr 28 16:32 /dev/sda
    brw-rw---- 1 root disk 8, 1 Apr 28 16:32 /dev/sda1
    brw-rw---- 1 root disk 8, 2 Apr 28 16:32 /dev/sda2
    brw-rw---- 1 root disk 8, 3 Apr 28 16:32 /dev/sda3
    brw-rw---- 1 root disk 8, 4 Apr 28 16:32 /dev/sda4
So the device itself seems to be there. Rebooting doesn't help, neither does
    using older, working kernel versions.
I also checked other topics on similar subjects, but I couldn't find any solution.

Hmm, it doesn't work even with the UUID. But the error looks similar:
Failed to open the device UUID=672f076e-131c-4220-81ba-b30639ef9285: No such file or directory
But when I call rc.sysinit manually directly after entering the root password,
everything works fine. It does work with sda as well as uuid notation.
I manually added some code before the output of the '*** FILESYSTEM CHECK FAILED ***' message:
    ls -l /dev/sda*
    sleep 1
    ls -l /dev/sda*
    The result was:
ls: cannot access /dev/sda*: No such file or directory
    brw-rw---- 1 root disk 8, 0 Apr 30 09:12 /dev/sda
    brw-rw---- 1 root disk 8, 1 Apr 30 09:12 /dev/sda1
    brw-rw---- 1 root disk 8, 2 Apr 30 09:12 /dev/sda2
    brw-rw---- 1 root disk 8, 3 Apr 30 09:12 /dev/sda3
    brw-rw---- 1 root disk 8, 4 Apr 30 09:12 /dev/sda4
So it seems that the devices are really not yet created. Is it a udev problem?
I am not aware of changing anything udev specific, maybe an updated version?

  • Partition not found while installing

I have made a second partition with Boot Camp, I can see the HD icon named " BOOTCAMP" on my desktop. But when I want to install windows and I have to select the correct partition (Bootcamp), it isn't there. There's only one partition.
Can som ebody help me out ?

Hi inv and welcome to Discussions,
what Windows are you trying to install, XP or Vista ?
With XP make sure that the CD is a XP with at least SP 2 (Service Pack 2) incorporated !
This is a must with BootCamp.
XP CD with SP1 or prior usually don't work woth Macs and BootCamp.
You can slipstream the SP2 into a SP1 XP using this procedure http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/windowsxpsp2slipstream.asp

I actually have not had this happen to me in several months, and in fact, haven't even thought about it in a while.
But back when it would happen, I would be working away, recording audio without any problems, and then I'd hit record again for something, and out of nowhere, get a message like this:
    "olumes/Audio Drive/Album Projects/John Doe/Song title/Audio Files" not found.
When the first word should have been "Volumes".
So I would click and hold the record button to get to reset my audio pathway, and the proper path would already be listed. I would then merely click the "Set" button, and be back in business.
And there were even a handful of times when I would get that message with the full name listed, the V was there in "Volumes', and everything listed correctly, and going to the record settings, everything was set properly. But I'd still have to hit "Set" to remind Logic where the pathway was pointed to.
    Definitely a bug.
But... this bug never happened to me in Logic 7. It was only since installing and using Logic 8, that it occurred. And as I mentioned, it now hasn't happened in months.

    I don't know why I'm getting this message when I open any songs I've recorded in Logic Express. It just started doing this today. Here is the message:{Record drive/partition “500G Ext HD Western Digital” not found!}
I do not get this message when I open and work on songs I've recorded in Garageband.
The 500G Ext HD is my external hard drive.
Does anyone know what this means and how I can resolve it and get back to recording music??

Does the disk appear OK on your desktop?
When exactly do you get this message? When you double-click on a Logic file on your external drive? Or when you start a new project? Is your record path set properly in Logic?
First, as you may be nearing a hard disk problem, make sure that all essential files are backed up properly.
Then, open up your Disk Utility and run 'Verify Disk' and 'Repair permissions' on your external drive. If you have a copy of Disk warrior, even better.
