Partitioning left empty space

Im partitioning my hard drive, i created a ubunutu (36gb) and swap space (8gb) and then clicked apply. After that it created the two, but left about 900mb of empty space. How can i merge that with my mac hd partition?

I figured it out
I put in nice clean numbers (36 and 8), but really the other partition have decimal numbers, so there was space that was un allocated (the decimal parts)

sometimes, we recognize 'stray clips' at the very end.. that is clip is often just a single frame of video...
a) enlarge the timeline view to max. ... anything in sight?
b) switch to 'slide view' mode.. sometimes, such a stray-clip is shown as a 'blank black' clip...

I have 2 inches of empty space on both sides of the screen on all websites when using firefox. How do I get webpages to fill the screen?

All my webpages on firefox have about 2 inches of empty space on both sides of the screen, but on Internet Explorer there is much less empty space or mostly none at all. How do i fix this?

Adding partition in free space on internal drive

So, when I bought my 20" Intel iMac, I immediately repartitioned the drive, and created one 200GB main partition for OSX and left ~32GB of free space for a future WinXP partition (which as of today became useful .
However, I cannot find any way to add a partition in the free space without trying some commercial tool (like iPartition). Disk Utility only has the option to repartition -- in OSX it won't let me because it's the system drive, and from the install CD it wants to nuke my whole drive to repartition, even though I don't need to touch the OSX partition at all. I've also dug through diskutil, pdisk, and fdisk, but none of those have an option to add a partition.
It seems totally stupid that I can't just create a partition in free space without killing the whole disk. I have 80GB of stuff on this drive I can't easily backup.
Any ideas???

The second partition is not for backups... it's for a FAT filesystem for installing Windows so that I can run my research software and play games at native speed.
Installing XP does not involve any firmware changes at all. The EFI bootloader is a blessed file that sits on the HFS partition, and the boot sector of the XP install CD is modified to talk to the custom EFI bootloader.
I actuallly did solve the problem through some brute force after my post. There is a command-line utility built into OSX now called 'gpt' which can edit GUID Partition Tables as used on Intel Macs. I booted off my OSX install CD, went to a terminal, unmounted /dev/disk0, added the new partition (gpt luckily does have an option for adding and removing partition entries without repartitioning the whole disk... Apple really needs to update Disk Utility if you ask me -- this is a common and simple task usually), then rebooted. It all worked fine!

How to remove empty space in CSS table and move spry menu bar?

Hello! I created www.stonecreekha.com about a year ago basically by watching youtube tutorials and haven't done much with it since so I've forgotten everything! In IE7, everything appears as it should; but in Firefox and IE8, the spry menu bar is positioned slightly higher than it should be (it slightly cuts off the foot of the golfer) and there is an empty space between the navigation bar and the photo. The source code can be viewed from the website. Here are some pics:

So basically, I need to know how to remove that empty space between the navigation bar and the picture, and how to move the spry menu bar down a few pixels, in a way that it looks correct in IE8 and Firefox, and preferably IE7 as well.
P.S. I'm a noob so if you could be as specific as possible on what to do in Dreamweaver I'd really appreciate it. Thanks

I belive it's because of the -minus margin being used on the navbar, that you will need to use a negative margin to bring up both the left and right bodyArea divs.
Try : margin-top: -18px; on both divs. You may need to play around with that to get it more precise.
Again, not sure what effect that has on IE as I can't test it.
If it affects IE, then you may need to feed IE a conditional comment for the placement of those divs.

Huge Empty Space at Bottom of WebPage

I've been trying to build a template for eBay auctions. I've
been able to create what I want--except for the fact that there is
a huge space at the bottom of my design. It's noticeable in Firefox
and Safari, but the space is enormous in IE. In fact, IE nearly
doubles the length of the webpage with worthless space! I will

Boot camp problem (can't merge empty space)

Hello everybody.
After a failed Boot Camp Windows 8 installation my drive has 50 GB empty space (the former partition) that Disk Utility can't merge with the main partition nor format it.
And if I boot from the USB stick made by Boot Camp, Windows begins the installation, but inmediately reboots and I can't even access to insert the product key.
I've read about some other utilities that can fix this partition problems (Testdisk, GPT fdisk), but I'm not that advanced user and I think that I have messed up enough.

Recovery of Win 8.1in 32-GB Flash Drive without losing empty space.

Hi i have a new Hp p001tx Windows 8.1 NB.
I choose a new USB flah drive 32gb for taking a recovery backup in HP recovery Manger Tool.
It prompted only 20 GB of empty space is needed.
But it also said that the remaing 12GB (ie 32gb-20gb =12gb) storage in the new flash dirve will become unsable. Why?
Question:
1. Can i do two partition in the same flash drive as 21gb +11gb =32gb and then take backup in the 21gb partion and use the other 11gb for storing personal data using recovery manager tool.
2. Will this idea work to use the same flash drive for booting from the backup and use the remaing 11GB for storing data.
3. Tell a way to make two partitions (21gb +11gb) respectively and use it for both purpose.
Kindly sugest a method to utilize the full allowance.

None of your requests are advisable or if done manually will corrupt the Recovery media. The whole 32gb flash drive has to be solely utilised for recovery media alone.
If you're not okay with that, you can make Recovery DVD.

Delete empty space in PLD footer

Hello,
In my report done with PLD I have the following need:
For example the footer contains 3 fields :
If the 3 fields contains data, it's displayed like this:
Total A
Total B
Total C
If the field Total B doesn't contain any data, it's displayed like this:
Total A
Total C
My objective is to avoid the empty space between the 2 fields Total A and Total C when the field Total B is empty.
I already tried to tick "delete null values" and "adjust to the cell hight" but the space is still here!
I already tried the solutions given in the other threads but it doesn't work (maybe because in the threads they talk about repetitive area, which is not my case: i work with the footer).

Your statement would NULLify columns that start with empty space, but have other characters after that.Column like " helllo".
This simple statement sould do the trick:
update table_temp
set columnSample = null
where ltrim(columnSample) is NULL

In our data flow, transactional data is flowing from one ODS(Acquisition Layer) to two different ODS's(Integration Layer) parallely. Error occured in first ODS(Acquisition Layer) i.e ODS was not getting activated for long time coz of empty space[#] in one of the infoobjects of a particular record. After manually deleting the request in two ODS's of Integration Layer & edited that particular record in PSA and reconstructed that deleted request form PSA the problem was solved.
This wrong entry is getting visible only at the time of ODS activation. Can any one suggest me a permanent solution for not occuring of empty space at the source system level or at SAP XI interface level or in the SAP BW system level?

If your ino object is of numeric type then check the condition if it is # (empty) then
replace with 0 (zero), if it is char. then make it SPACE..you can use this following statement in your transfer / update rule for the IO.
replace all occurances of '#' with ' '. (for Char.)
(for Numeric)
if COMM_STRUCTURE-XXXX is initial.
RESULT = 0.
endif.

It is usually recommended that your keep a clone of your HD and your Time Machine backup on different drives.
You don't want your backup drive to fail and lose both your clone and your TM backup.
The answer to your question is to use Disk Utility to partition your drive. Again, you should have a backup of your drive before you partition it.
Launch Disk Utility, select your external drive > Partition > Resize the partition by sliding the tab at the lower right corner of the image > Create a new partition with the space that has been freed up.

Background:
I am using Mountain Lion and Mail App and running out of space on my small primary SSD drive (where I keep OS, apps, key user preferences/data and mail for speed). The mail data is the big variable (many GBs) and I want to "archive"/move some of the old mail to my 2nd drive inside the Mac. But I still want it searchable inside spotlight and preferably even inside Mail too. And I'd like to be able to still drag and drop old mails into this archive folder.
What I've tried that seems to work:

1. Move the archive folder/mailbox to the 2nd drive/partition/folder (don't delete anything inside Mail App)
2. Create a symbolic link from its new location to the original/old location
This seems to work, it looks as "normal" and as if nothing happened inside Mail App but the folder now resides elsewhere and seems searchable etc. But I'm not sure that once caches refresh or over time with updates etc if stuff will break horribly or corrupt.

I'm having a similar but slightly different problem. My company just migrated to Gmail, and it's saving mail drafts every 30 seconds into my Trash folder.
I unchecked the "Show in IMAP" preference in the Gmail settings, but my Drafts folder completely disappeared. I went back and checked it and the folder reappeared (with my drafts still in there).
I like the idea if starting an email on my laptop and having the option of finishing it on my iPhone or iPad, so only saving Drafts locally would not be ideal.

How to add new text and an empty space before a file name with Automator

I can create a new service to add to multiple files some text before the file name but I need to add even an empty space; e.g. file name original becomes: new text(space)file name original. The aim is to add this text and space to multiple files.

This is an old Apple-supplied AppleScript that will do the job.
IMPORTANT: note the conditions of use: it will choose the frontmost Finder window to operate on. Therefore, open the folder you want to change the names of and make it the front finder window BEFORE running the script.
