Partner_determination_in_Customer_Master

Hi
While configuring the partner determination for a customer master in SPRO(Sales and Distribution->Basic Functions->Partner Determination->Set up Partner Determination), we follow a few steps.
The flow is that first a procedure is selected on the basis of account group and then the partner functions present inside that procedure are proposed .
I am not clear with the step in which we assign partner Function to account group.
When I skip that step, my partner number is not determined automatically while I create a new customer.
I couln't get the exact connection between the two
Can you please explain the concept behind that step?

Hi,
It took a while for me to understand your query.
From your first post for this question - you mention that "assign partner function to account group" which is not right. It is actually "assigning account groups to partner functions". This means that - a customer number created from one of these account groups alone can be assigned to this partner function. For eg. for a partner function called SP - the customer numbers created from one of the following account groups alone can be assigned:
0001 (Sold-to party account group)
0005 (Sales prospect) etc..
This is something basic that we want to inform the system.

As long as this is maintained, then you can maintain your partner determination proc and decide which partner functions are mandatory & Not changeable. This will help while creating the Customer masters of the respective account groups and automatically should populate the partner functions in the Sales data.
Please verify these settings if you are using customised partner functions for this scenario.
