Partner function setting in purchasing document

why we do partner function settings in purchasing document, like if we don't do this or if we do this then what would be the impact?
plz tell me in your words

Hi,
Partner function is 'one vendor performs different functions with different divisions'.
Example: Take SAIL-Steel authority of India.If you want to purchase material from SAIL you will be ordering that to the marketing department of SAIL.Material is supplied to you by the sales depot of SAIL.And the invoice is raised by the finance department.Here the main vendor is SAIL and the different divisions are the partners for the vendor SAIL.
In SAP these are termed as partner functions.OA-ordering address,GS-goods supplier,IV-invoicing party etc.
If this process is applicable then you have to use the partner functions in the purchase order.

    Can you please advise on modeling scenario for showing multiple partner functions for a given sales document in BI Report ..
    Because Key figure values should not be distributed for multiple records just becos of multiple partner functions but users want to see them in the reports along with sales doc and key figure
    I am explaining bit more clearly...
    I can achieve above requirement by having below model ..
    SDOC     ITEM  PF1  PF2  PF3  AMOUNT
    1000       10      AB    CD   EF    50000
    PF : Partner Function
    but as I feel it is a complicated task  to add more and more columns fro partner functions as and when new partner functions have been added or requested to show by users at sales doc level...
    So Can you please advise a better solution to meet the same requirement.

    This will be the normal display in the cube if there is only one Partner Function.
    But what we need is
    SalesDoc______Item_______PartnerFunction________Amount
    80000_________10_____________A1_______________$1000
    80000_________10_____________A2_________________' '
    80000_________10_____________A3_________________' '
    The Amount (KF) should be populated only for the first record for a SalesDoc / Item combo.
    You load data from source to the ODS, say delta.
    Suppose that the below record is already available in the ODS.
    SalesDoc______Item_______PartnerFunction________Amount
    80000_________10_____________A1_______________$1000
    And you get the following data as DELTA in the Data_Package from the source.
    SalesDoc______Item_______PartnerFunction________Amount
    80000_________10_____________A2_______________$1000
    80000_________10_____________A3_______________$1000
    If you populate the Amount again for these 2 records, then the total would sum to $3000, which is wrong.
    So what we do is,
    Write a Select stmt for ALL ENTRIES in Data_Package and fetch the records from the target ODS. Have it in an Internal table, say t_ODS1
    Take the SalesDoc / Item from the Data_Package and chk if it is present in the internal table t_ODS1.
    If it is present, then populate the Amount as ' ' (Blank)
    Else populate the Amount as $1000.
    Say, you are getting 3 new records, which is not present in the ODS1.
    In that case, your internal table t_ODS1 will be blank.
    Now again, we need to populate the Amount only for the first record among the 3 records.
    So, here comes the "Flag".
    Set the Flag as X, when we populate the Amount.
    Everytime chk the Flag <> X.
    Only if it is <> X, populate the Amount.
    Else Leave it Balnk.

    For Ex: I have a Delivery document where i need to enter CR-forwarding agent as twice with different Agent numbers.

    Hi,
    Goto to SPRO>Sales & Disribution>Basic Function>Partner Determination>Set up partner determination>set up partner determination for Sales Document Header and select the Partner determination procedure and at the left hand side choose Partner function. Here you can enter your partner function twice.

  • Free form partner function field in Sales document header and item..

    Hello Experts,
    Is there anyway we can use the partner functions functionality in Sales document header and item level, so that we can enter a free form number in the Partner field? I mean is it possible to be able to enter a free form number WITHOUT getting validated against corresponding master data like Customer or Vendor master, Contact person, Personnel or User master records?

    It is not possible.
    Because partner function will be determined in the sales document header and item as per the configuration you have done in the partner determination.
    It is not possible to enter a number wihich is not created and assigned.

    Hi,
    when ever you create a PO,the partner functions which are privided in vendor master gets defaulted in PO.You can either delete the functions at vendor level or at the PO header partners tab.

  • How to include a new Z Partner Function in Sales order header drop down lis

    Hello SAP experts,
    We have come up with a new requirement to include a custom Partner Function-ZI  in dropdown of SO header-Partners field.
    Current scenario- Presently we are maintaining this partner function  ( Say ZI-  Institute ) in customer master data-Sales area tab.There could be more than one partners under this PF in master data. While entering sales Order, all partners associated are displayed in Header- partners tab, where only SP, SH, BP, PY partner functions are displayed.
    Requirement- 1. Is to  provide Drop down of this ZI-Institute partner function (which I did not find presently) in SO header-partners field and user should be able to provide one of partner function as available in Customer master ( as there are more than one partners that can be set in Customer master data but user need to be able to provide ONE of this ZI partner fucntion in DROPDOWN of PF tab in SO header ).
    2. In addition, How can I link this new partner function in related sales reports against that particulat order and invoice?
    Kindly suggest your valuable inputs as what should be the procedure to get this.

    Go to partner determination by VOPA
    OR
    IMG >> SD >> Basic function >> Set up partner functions >> set up partner function for sales document header
    click on partner function and Maintain partner function ZI  and back
    Then select your existing partner determination procedure (Standard is TA) and click on PARTNER FUNCTIONS IN PROCEDURE and add partner function. and make it mandatory so even user forget to mention then at the time of saving system can remind user 
    Then double click on PARTNER DETERMINATION PROCEDURE ASSIGNMENT
    Assign partner procedure to sales document
    Now when you creating sales order go to header partner tab and enter you institute partner number
    For sales order and invoice report
    Execute this report by selecting partner function ZI in VA05N and VF05 respectively

  • Confusion on partner function of ALE process

    Hi experts,
    Now I am developing the ALE for message type ORDERS in inbounding process for testing purpose. Our customer is running their business in SAP and her company code is 6000 in her SAP system, and our company is vendor in her system, the vendor number is 1100. She create a purchase order and run the transaction code ME9F then the IDOC will send to our SAP system, and then the sales order is created in our system. Actually the whole process is OK. But I am really confused by the partner function setting and sales area setting in VOE4 and VOE2.
    In VOE4, the setting is below:

    We had to create a customer number 6000 in order to make the ALE process smoothly. So I just want to know:
    1) We really need to make our customer number same as company code of customer in her SAP system if we use ALE ??
    2) If answer of 1) is yes, then in our production system, the customer numbers are different from their company codes, what and how do you suggest to mapping the is relationship?? Use a user-exit in IDOC??
    3) if answer of 1) is no, how can we make the ALE go next smothly??

    hi,
    to add partner function sales employee follow these steps:
    1. img>S & D>basic functions>go to partner determination screen and select customer master and select your partner proceedure.
    2. now double click on partners in partner proceedure and add partner function SE using new entries and save.
    3. now assign the partner function to you account group and save
    to create a sales employee goto t code PAL1 and create sales representative.
    to add sales rep to your customer master goto your customer master using XD02 and in sales area tab goto partner tab and add the partner function SE and the sales rep number and save

    For Sales document header partner functions,the sold-to-party is non-modifiable.
    It is a standard functionality.We cannot change the address of the sold-to-party in sales order.If you want a different address,then you have to change in the customer master data only using the T.Code "XD02".
    Even the field "Mand. function" is also greyed out.
    Could you pls check for other Partner functions,they can be editable.
    The path for this to check is:
    SPRO>Sales and Distribution>Basic Functions>Partner Determination>Set Up Partner Determination-->Set Up Partner Determination for Sales Document Header.
    Select the partner determination procedure.
    Double click on "Partner functions in procedure".

  • Change partner function data in PO using EXIT_SAPMM06E_013(MM06E005)

    Hi all,
    I have an issue related to partner functions while creating purchase order.In the user exit MM06E005, we have EXIT_SAPMM06E_013 which is triggered when PO is created from Preq using tcode ME59. There is a table XEKPA in the fn mod EXIT_SAPMM06E_013 which holds the various partner function records corresponding to the PO.
        In our case we get two records in that table, the 2nd   record corresponding to partner function 'BA' (german) /'OA'(ENGLISH). ( U can find these in table 'WYT3' for partner functions where OA/BA is for ordering address of the vendor.) I am trying to modify this record corresponding to 'OA'. But when the PO is created and when I go to Partners tab in ME23N, I am not able to see the change I made in the internal table 'XEKPA' within the exit. Am I missing something while changing or should I go for a totally new exit/BADI for modifying this?

    I have maintain a partner function for the sales document header, but there might be two persons who can appear in the partner function.
    But when i choose again the same partner function and enter the value system give me the following message "partner can only be occur once" can any one tell me the way so that multiple numbers with the same partner function can incorporated a the header level.

    There is a configuration we maintain for this. You can uncheck the box Unique in VOPA for the partner function.
    As you know there are some unique partner functions like Sold-to-party, the sold-to-party can be only one.
    It all depends upon your business need to maintian multiple partner with same partner function.

  • Special Authorizations for Partner Functions

    Hi All,
    I have the following requirement:
    In our CRM implementation, we are using sales team members (i.e. users having a partner function in sales documents) largely for information purposes only, i.e. from an authorization perspective it is only checked whether or not a user has a partner function but not which one specifically.
    Now, there is one exception to this rule and that is the partner function "Employee Responsible". The requirement is that only a user having this very partner function in a sales document should be able to change the Employee Responsible for the sales document while all other users having just any other partner function for the same document should be authorized to change all other partner functions.
    It's a bit hard to explain, here is an example:
    Say you have a quotation document with the following "parties invloved":
    John                -> Employee Responsible
    Mike                -> Sales Manager
    David               -> Some other Partner Function
    All three (John, MIke and David) should be able to add new/change "parties involved".
    BUT ONLY John should be able to change the "Employee Responsible"
    Someone has any idea on this? I will reward points for helpful answers

    Hello Alexander,
    I guess CRM profile customization doesn't go to that deep level. Currently i don't see any other possibility (maybe, the audience can correct me) than modifying corresponding GET_I* methods of the attributes which you would like to disable and check for the user role there and disable the field accordingly. For this you need to know the component, view name, context node name, fields names and change it via EEWB.

    During defining the partner Schema, please follow the process:
    a.Create partner Schema
    b.After creation of partner Schema, select your partner Schema and click u201Cpartner roles in schemau201D and you will have next screen
    Now for Partner function like VN,OA,PI and GS as you required and select the check box of mandatory
    and save.
    Now try creating Vendor and you will have Partner function like VN,OA,PI and GS in vendor master.
    Note: The following configuration steps for Vendor master are:
    1. Create Vendor Account Group.OBD3
    2. Maintain Number Ranges from Vendor account Group:XKN1,
    3.Assignment of Number ranges to Account Group,OBAS
    4.Partner Function: SPRO->MM->Purcahsing->Partner Determination-> partner roles->Permissible partner role sper account group
    5.Partner Schema:
    SPRO->MM->Purcahsing->Partner Determination->Partner setting in Vendor master record-> Define partner Schema
    6.Assgin partner schema to accont Group
    SPRO->MM->Purcahsing->Partner Determination->Partner setting in Vendor master record-> Assgin partner schema to account Group.

    I have maintained all partner function coustamizations to vendor account group , in vendor master  i am getting to all partner function , but in RFQ and PO i am getting only  VN ,iam not getting GS,IP,etc.............

    I am adopting PO from another purchase order. The vendors are diifferent in my old PO and new PO. When I create the new PO, the partner functions of old PO are adopted. Even after i enter the new vendor, it doesnot update to new partner functions.
    Can you please suggest the solution for this? Is there any standard setting?

    Hi,
    1st check new partner function which you are entering in PO or to adopt, that should be assigned to vendor account group in following path:
    SPRO->MM->Purchasing->Partner Determination-> partner roles->Permissible partner roles per account group
    Also check the presence of new partner function in partner schema and assigned to partner schema with others partner functions in following path:
    SPRO->MM->Purchasing->Partner Determination->Partner setting in Vendor master record-> Define partner Schema
    And check assignment of partner schema to your vendor account group in following path:
    SPRO->MM->Purchasing->Partner Determination->Partner setting in Vendor master record-> Assign partner schema to account Group
    Finally check partner schema assigned in PO document type in following path:
    SPRO->MM->Purchasing->Partner Determination->Partner Settings in Purchasing Documents-> Assign Partner Schemas to Document Types
