1. Partner Determination
SP, SH, BP, Payer are key to document processing. Automatic partner determination happens in the sales document, delivery and billing documents, sales activities, and the customer master record.
IMG  SD  Basic fncs  Partner fncs, define partner fncs [VOPA]
Each partner function can be assigned a partner type. This partner type specifies whether the partner is a customer, contact person, or vendor.

  • Partner function;Partner procedure; Partner object; Procedure assignment??

    Hi,
If we check T-code: VOPA, we could find below:
    Partner function(Partner type inside);
    Partner procedure;Procedure details;Procedure assignment;
Partner object(Customer Customer Master;Sales Document Header Sales Document Item..etc)
    Account Group;
Anybody could explain clearly on above relations? Would be better if could attach an example by connecting to XD01 creating customer master data, especially the useage of Account Group.
    thank you very much!

Let's take kinds of example like this..
I went to an bookstore, bought an book and got the invoice. Then i paid the money, the book is deliveried to me.
    Analysis this business process:
    Partner type:
I as an person who purchase goods, so i  should belong to partner type Customer.
Bookstore sell goods, they should belong to partner type Vendor...
    Partner function:
I as an customer but also play roles like pay the amount, receive the invoice..etc
As an customer, i am function like an Sold-To Party.
I pay the amount, then i function like an Payer.
I receive the invoice , then i function like an Bill-to Party.
Also i got the book from bookstore, then i founction like Ship-To Party.
    All above function belong category:Customer.
So in SAP system, VOPA, i need first define corresponding partner function, and assign it to partner type.
    Partner object:
Partner object is Customer master;Sales document Header,Sales document item..etc
We define above mentioned Partner functions into corresponding partner object, also we need define Partner procedure and assing account group inside it, so as ?????
Sorry, i think idont know what Partner procedure works? And why we need PArtner procedure??
Seems partner procedure is related with Account Group...
I remembered we had assign the Partner function to Account Group once, why we still need Partner procedure to Account Group again???? Coz inside PArtner procedure is partner function...
And what imapct when we creating customer master data XD01 or processing sales order..Billing document...
Hope could kindly help to clear my doubt......
    Thank you very much!

  • Partner function error

    Hi SD experts
I have a customer X , and I created another Y copying X with the same account group.
Customer X shows partner functions SP (Sold to = X) and SH (ship to= X ) among others.
However these functions are not copied into Y and that is good becuase I do not want X as sold to/ship to for Y.
However  when I try to create partners  SP= Y and SH=Y for customer Y , I get an error : Customer Y is not defined for function SP (table TPAKD)
I checked transaction  VOPA for partner function/procedure/account group assignment etc and it seems to be OK, moreover it works for customer X, partner function SP = X and SH =X.
Thanks in advance and any help is appreciated
    Anton

Though you had indicated that you have checked the IMG, check once again in IMG SD > Basic Functions > Partner Determination > Set Up Partner Determination > Set Up Partner Determination for Customer Master > Account Groups - Function Assignment
Here check whether you have assigned the partner function to your account group.

choose the key from the allowed namespace ????
    Edited by: jagadisha14 on Jun 16, 2009 1:35 PM

    Hi,
    The path is:
SPRO>Sales and Distribution>Basic functions>Partner determination>Set up partner determination-->Set Up Partner Determination for Customer Master.
Click on account groups-Function assignment. Here you can maintain new one.
Check that partner function exists or not. This you can do in:
SPRO>Sales and Distribution>Basic functions>Partner determination>Set up partner determination>Set Up Partner Determination for Customer Master>Partner functions.
If that does not exists then define new one and assign it to your account group.
Use the same name that is there in Partner function.Don't use the Conversion name.

  • Parnter Function -  Account Groups

Question - What configuration limits which account groups that can be used with a partner function on SD documents?
I have configured a new partner function to use on an inbound delivery document. The assignment is working fine but I'd also like to limit the entry to only be valid for a specific vendor account group. This should be standard SAP and the error received when someone enters a different account group is "Partner from account group XXXX not permitted for partner function XX".
Defining Permissible Partner Roles per Account Group sets the limitation on the Customer partnership but not the SD document.
I can not find the configuration point for this limitation. Can anyone point me to it?
    Thanks in advance
    David

    Hi
This can be configured in the Partner Determination Procedure. Here we specify the partner functions allowed to this account group and then we assign this account group to the partner determination procedure. Unless it is not specified in the procedure, the partner function is allowed for this account group.
    Thanks,
    Ravi

    Hi
The use of Standard Parner functions are as follows:
    1. Ordering Address (OA): The PO will be sent this vendor and not the main vendor.
    2. Goods Supplier (WL): In case of return deliveries, Goods will be returned to thsi vendor's address
    3. Invoicing party (RS): The payment will be made to this vendor.
    Hope this clarifies.

  • Purchase Order Partner Functions

    Hi all,
I am adopting PO from another purchase order. The vendors are diifferent in my old PO and new PO. When I create the new PO, the partner functions of old PO are adopted. Even after i enter the new vendor, it doesnot update to new partner functions.
Can you please suggest the solution for this? Is there any standard setting?
    Regards
    Kapil

    Hi,
1st check new partner function which you are entering in PO or to adopt, that should be assigned to vendor account group in following path:
SPRO->MM->Purchasing->Partner Determination-> partner roles->Permissible partner roles per account group
Also check the presence of new partner function in partner schema and assigned to partner schema with others partner functions in following path:
SPRO->MM->Purchasing->Partner Determination->Partner setting in Vendor master record-> Define partner Schema
And check assignment of partner schema to your vendor account group in following path:
SPRO->MM->Purchasing->Partner Determination->Partner setting in Vendor master record-> Assign partner schema to account Group
Finally check partner schema assigned in PO document type in following path:
SPRO->MM->Purchasing->Partner Determination->Partner Settings in Purchasing Documents-> Assign Partner Schemas to Document Types

    Hi Anwar,
Please check the parner function-account group and partner determination  procedure-account groups are assigned properly or not from
SD >> basic functions >> partner determination >> set up partner determination >> Set Up Partner Determination for Customer Master, sales doc. header etc. which type partner determination you want to maintain if you want to maintain them for customer.
In that screen, you need to maintain (Z9) to the partner procedure (ZAG) after doing Partner Determination Procedure Assignment and Account Groups - Function Assignment.
I hope these will solve your problem.

  • Partner Number for Partner function in Vendor master definition

    Dear Gurus,
I need to define a new vendor through Tcode: Xk01 / Mk01, but while defining particular screen know an partner functions, in this its asking partner number in lookup where no data ia avalibale to select and subsequently not able to save the vendor.
    Please help.
    Regards,
    Prashanth Pai

    Hi,
Before vendor creation, you have following configuration steps:
    1. Create Vendor Account Group.OBD3
    2. Maintain Number Ranges from Vendor account Group:XKN1,
3.Assignment of Number ranges to Account Group,OBAS
4.Partner Function: SPRO->MM->Purcahsing->Partner Determination-> partner roles->Permissible partner role sper account group
    5.Partner Schema:
SPRO->MM->Purcahsing->Partner Determination->Partner setting in Vendor master record-> Define partner Schema
6.Assgin partner schema to accont Group
SPRO->MM->Purcahsing->Partner Determination->Partner setting in Vendor master record-> Assgin partner schema to account Group.
& then after above steps, you can create vendor with XK01 t.code by entering company Code,Vendor account group and purchase organisation.
Note:what is partner role:Generally during in your business transaction process we are specifying the roles involved by vendor i.e.....… vendor act as a Goods Suplier, Ordering Address, Invoice Processing. Here all these functional activities by vendor we termed as partner functions (GS,IP, OA) in partner determination Process. SAP has standard Partner role and its 2 characters.
Example: A company supplying goods/material having plant in Hyderabad, south India branch office is in bangalore and head office is in Delhi. So hyderabad plant is your"GS",banglaore office is your"OA" and Delhi office is "IP"where you pay to Vendor. for the procurred material/goods.

  • Trading partner functionality

    Hi Gurus,
Can you tell me about how the trading partner functionality in customer and vendor master is used.
How is this  useful  for inter company balance reconciliations
    Regards,

    Hi,
Trading partner is any entity with which the organization does any kind of business transaction.
Business partners are used  to define the rights and responsibilities of each business partner in a business transaction. You assign partner functions when you create a master record for a business partner.
    Features
The following are examples of trading partner functions(as customers)  that are defined in the standard system:
    ●     Partner functions for partner type customer
    ○     Sold-to Party
Contains data on sales, such as the assignment to a sales office or a valid price list
    ○     Ship-to Party
Contains data for shipping, such as unloading point and goods receiving hours
    ○     Bill-to Party
Contains the address and data on document printing and electronic communication
    ○     Payer
Contains data on billing schedules and bank details
    ●     Partner functions for partner type vendor
    ○     Ordering address
    ○     Invoice presented by
    ○     Goods supplier
    ○     Alternative payee
    ●     Partner functions for other partner types, for example, personnel (HR master records)
    Customer partner functions
The company or person who places an order can be the same company or person who receives the goods and the invoice and pays. Because this customer assumes all partner functions, you create one master record for the customer. You create a customer master record for the sold-to party in which you enter data required for the other partner functions.
A subsidiary office can place an order and its head office can pay the invoice. In this case, you divide partner functions among the different offices. You need a corresponding number of customer master records. In one master record you enter, for example, the address of the sold-to party for correspondence, in the other, the address of the ship-to party for delivery. You establish a link between the partner functions in the customer master record of the sold-to party by entering the customer number of the respective partner functions.
    Prerequisites
When creating master records, you define the partner functions for business partners by assigning an account group. For partner types customer and vendor, you define which account group can be used for which partner function. You do this in Customizing in the following activities:
    ●     Customer
In Customizing for Basic Functions (SD) in the activity Assign partner functions on the debit side to account groups.
    ●     Vendor
In Customizing for Purchasing (MM) in the activity Define permissible partner roles per account group.
The partner determination procedure specifies the partner functions that are allowed or mandatory for processing a particular business transaction, such as a sales or purchase order.
Analogous is business partner from vendor point of view.
    Hope this helps.
