Do you use hardware 3D acceleration in Linux?

I'm wondering, how many Linux users use hardware 3D acceleration drivers (for OpenGL) in Linux, and if not, why not
-no hardware that supports it (do such video cards even exist today?)
-ideological reasons
-no need for it
-no drivers available
-other reason?
By 3D hardware acceleration I mean true drivers that use the graphics cards 3D hardware to render anything (even 2D textures), such as the NVidia or ATI drivers.
Mesa Software Rasteriser drivers appear to be the alternative if you don't have 3D accelerated drivers, so if you have these, please answer No.
I'm asking this to figure out how many Linux users I'm excluding if I create software that requires hardware 3D acceleration.

Running an HD4850 on the open-source xf86-video-ati drivers, so thats the "radeon" driver.
I run without a xorg.conf, so getting that configured properly... No need
2D works splendidly. Besides the normal apps on your desktop I also play Battle of Wesnoth from time to time, and I recently installed StarCraft using Wine. To get in the mood for StarCraft II, my little bro is a beta tester.
3D works, I run a composite desktop which works great. I also tried QuakeLive, runs terrific.
I haven't been able to get Sauerbraten to run properly. Well the game runs properly, but the graphics doesn't (a lot of stuff is see-through for me). But as the drivers improve, I expect things to get better. Performance optimizations would come after that. So that is still a work-in-progress but the basics are there.
For serious 3D gaming I hop over to the Win7 install. Set that up that specifically for the purposes of gaming. Helps to keep my productivity up

If you had a Vector Signal Generator, this would be more controllable using something similar to this forum.
Otherwise, the only way to control time on the 565x would be to use OOK modulation scheme. This will allow you to turn on the signal for a little time On and Off.
There is a shipped example called "565x Digital Modulation.vi" (on versions 1.3 and later of the RFSG driver) that can perform this task. Basically it uses the function named "niRFSG Configure Digital Modulation User Defined Waveform.vi" to write the user bit sequence and with property nodes you will configure the OOK scheme and the symbol rate (refer to specifications of your card for the possible values).

Also - my battery has been telling me "service battery" for a LONG time and then it switched to "replace soon" som time ago. Can't really see what this has to do with anything but whatever.
That could conceivably explain all the problems you're describing. Replacing a Mac's battery should not be postponed since a failed battery will cause other problems to occur. It is also possible that its hard disk has failed, which means the information on it may soon become unrecoverable.

If that Time Machine backup remains intact, it may be the only viable means of recovering that Mac's information. I suggest you do not attempt to restore its contents to your ailing Mac.
Given that you are having trouble creating a newer Time Machine backup you should stop using that Mac immediately and have it serviced as soon as you are able. Do not take it to anyone other than Apple or a service facility authorized by Apple, for the very reasons you explained. If there are no Apple Stores in your vicinity search for an Authorized Apple Service Provider using the Contact Us link below. Use one of the options that appear under Contact Apple Support. The language on that page will be different for your location.

Testing Webdynpro Application using ECATT

I am going to test webdynpro Application using ecatt.For this in se80 I selected the
existing component(z component which was created by me) and i selected the application of that component and right clicked and selected START ECATT RECORDING and i have given the test cript name at that i have got one error USER ECATT_HTTPDoesnot exist. How to resolve this problem.
Please give me the soulution regarding this.

Hi Venkatesh,
Before you can start recording any webdynpro application make sure that the below settings are done in the ecatt system and the target system , for further information refer ecatt documentation.
Create User ECATT_HTTP in the eCATT System
The administrator in the eCATT system must create a user called ECATT_HTTP(with a password). The user requires no special authorization but must be a system user (in transaction SU01, display the user and choose the Logon data tab. Under User Type, select System).
Activate the Service ecatt_recorder in the eCATT System
       1.      In the eCATT System, start transaction SICF and navigate to the service ecatt_recorder.
       2.      Double-click on ecatt_recorder.
       3.      On the Logon Data tab, enter the user ECATT_HTTPand the password.
       4.      Choose Save.
       5.      Select ecatt_recorder and choose Service/Virtual Host -> Activate.
Activate the Service ecattping in the Target Systems
Java System
       1.      In the Visual Administrator, choose Server ->Services -> Deploy.
       2.      On the Runtime tab, select Application.
       3.      Select ecattping.
       4.      Choose Start Application.
ABAP System
       1.      In the target system, start transaction SICF and navigate to the service ecattping.
       2.      Select ecattping and choose Service/Virtual Host -> Activate.

Will I get a new, refurbished, or used Ipod?

I am totally sure now that my Ipod has a messed up battery because a 5-6 minute video makes the battery go down 3-4%. I bought my Ipod new off amazon so when I go to the store to exchange it will I get a new, refurbished, or used Ipod?

You will likely get a refurished, good as new iPod.
The refurbished iPods are better than new, as the iPad has been checked out by a technician. Apple usually replaces the outer casing. You cannot pick a new one from a refurbished.

Is JMF use hardware accelerated through JNI possible?

Dear all:
I try to use JMF decode MPEG-2 data, through VeXP which wrote in C.
So I think we can call C library through JNI pass encoded MPEG-2 data to VeXP, use hardware decode encoded MPEG-2 data to YUV-format raw data then return it to JAVA.
but JNI seem can't pass media raw data by call by reference...
It should cause a lot of memory copy.
How about it's feasibility?
Have anyone give me some suggestion?

There's a few ways to do it, but I'd use a style sheet. So:
1. Add this to the "creationComplete" Stage event: sym.$("<link rel='stylesheet' type='text/css' href='styles.css'>").appendTo("#Stage");
2. Create a style sheet (text file) in your project folder named "styles.css", and define a class:

-webkit-transform: translate3d(0,0,0);
3. Give your animated element the class "force-webkit-acceleration" in the properties panel (the little c-in-a-box icon next to the title field).
Be sure that the style sheet file ends up in your "publish/web" folder too.

Mainframe data loaded into Oracle tables - Test for low values using PL/SQL

Mainframe legacy data has been copied straight from the legacy tables into mirrored tables in Oracle. Some columns from the mainframe data had 'low values' in them. These columns were defined on the Oracle tables as varchar2 types. In looking at the data, some of these columns appear to have data that looks like little square boxes, not sure but maybe that is the way Oracle interprets the 'low values' in the original data into varchar. When I run a select to find all rows where this column is not null, it selects these columns. In the results of the select statement, the columns appear to be blank, however, in looking at the data in the column using SQL Developer, I can see the odd 'square boxes'. My guess is that the select statement is detecting that something exists in this column. Long story short, some how I am going to have to test this legacy data on the Oracle table using Pl/Sql to test for 'low values'. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I could do this????? Help! The mainframe data we are loading into these tables is loaded with columns with low values.

If I recall correctly I solved this problem by things I found on the internet. However this is for Windows 7 and it has been a long time ago...
Don't know if it is still appropriate but here goes:
Windows Prof:
Run “gpedit.msc” (click start, in the box closest to the button type “gpedit.msc” without quotes)
Click User Configuration, then drop down Administrative Templates, then drop down Windows Components, then drop down Tablet PC. Finally click “Cursors”
Now double-click Turn off pen feedback. Click the radio button “enable” and click ok.
Windows Home:

Press the windows key
type "pen and touch" and press enter
In the window that appears, left-click the entry "Press and hold" and click "settings".
Uncheck "Enable press and hold for right-clicking".
Click OK on both windows to close them

Press the windows key
type "computer management" and press enter
In the window that opens, Double click "Services and Applications" in the centre column
Double click "Services" in the centre column
Scroll down and double click "Tablet PC Input Service"
Find the "Startup type:" dropdown box and change it to "Disabled".

Restart your PC
After your PC loads up again, one of two things should happen: either your tablet works happily and circle-free, or it doesn't work at all. If it doesn't work at all, you now need to download and install the proper driver for it (to replace the Microsoft one that you just disabled).
