Party playlist

I am planning a party and I would like to have each invitee RSVP with a track request. I will then create a playlist with all of the requested track. I would like to set up a projector and display who requested each track as each track plays. Photos would be great but even text would be better than nothing. Does anyone know how I might achieve this. Is there an app that would help?

I was going to try a test, which is to make a copy of my iPhone music playlist and see if it starts to copy any songs over. As the two playlists wil be exactly the same, nothing should copy. That should put my mind at rest. Maybe I've underestimated how many "party" songs I have that aren't actually synced to my iPhone on a day-to-day basis?

Can you run an entire iTunes playlist on gapless playback?

I have a specific "party playlist" and I want all the songs on it to run gaplessly as though they're all part of a mix. I have "Crossfade songs" disabled but it still won't work. When I was first creating the playlist and testing out the playback, the songs DID play without any gaps but now there are gaps and I can't seem to get it to go back to playing gaplessly.

my understanding is that crosfading is what makes the songs overlap by 1-12 seconds, so the end of the first song has the begining of the second song playing as well. i.e. setting the crossfade to 6 seconds (middle of the slider) would play the last three seconds of old song and first three seconds of new song at the same time..
In short, try ENABLING crossfading, then playing with the preferences.

Yup, it's a well-known omission in iOS. If and only if you synchronize only non-DRM videos to your Videos, you can use third-party playlist-capable players that play videos off the stock Videos database.
However, it's best not to bother with these apps but go for a fully-fledged 3rd-party app that needs to be loaded with movies via iTunes File Sharing and also has playlist functionality. If you don't mind purchasing and installing such apps, let me know and I compile a list of such apps.
Unfortunately, these apps won't be able to synchronzie your desktop iTunes playlists either.

Playlists are not syncing on mac and macbook - have match

I have itunes match turned on on my imac, my macbook pro and my iphone. The playlists are not syncing which I thought they would and I thought they did match at one point. For instance:
I have a playlist named bachelorette party I created on my macbook pro itunes. I put 53 songs on it and it played just fine at the party on my iphone, all 53 songs were on my phone.
Today, there are 12 songs on my phone in the bachelorette party playlist, 12 on my macbook pro, and 41 on my imac. So, 53 songs total, but not on anyone device.
Seems to me like I should have 53 of the exact same songs on all devices since I have itunes match enabled on all.
Am I missing something? I have home sharing turned on to.

Also, I should add that I tested the itunes match buy purchasing a song in itunes on my macbook, then i dragged it to my bachelorette playlist. Sure enough, it showed up on my iphone in the bachelorette playlist moments later. However, it did not appear in the same playlist on imac. It appears as if my imac does not want to play along...lol.

Partify / Spotify Party Mode

How about a function that when turned on, only allows the queing of music (i.e instead of dubblevclicking to play the next song, it will just be que'd)? This would be great if u have a party and don't peolple changing midtrack all the time.

I've been to loads of house parties recently that use Spotify to play all the music, it generally starts off really well with people coming along to queue songs, however eventually someone will come up and search for a song and click PLAY. This then adds ALL the hits of the search to the play queue and ruins the music as you get about 15 of the same song by various artists.
[Idea]
Would it be possible to create a "Noob" or "Party" mode that primarily disables the queue button? It would mean that people can only queue songs as a means of hearing them and they will come on after everyone else's requests. This way, at the start of the night the host can play a song from a party-playlist and then enable party mode. Any queued songs will go to the next song, otherwise the playlist will just play out. Perfect.

How can I automatically randomise the song order of playlists?

In previous versions of iTunes I would hit shuffle on a playlist and all the songs would change order - which was beyond convenient when creating 6-hour-long party playlists after dragging in the desired albums and songs. Then you could 'copy to play order' to leave the playlist in this shuffled state. On the new iTunes it seems not to have this option - it only lets you manually drag each song around the playlist, which is silly when the playlist gets towards a hundred songs. Is there any way now to automatically shuffle/randomise the song list?

On the Mac, this feature is enabled in Pages ’09 via the Preferences panel and Auto-Correction > Fix Capitalization. In Pages v5.2, this feature is not yet implemented. You will have to relearn use of the shift key.

New version of Itunes is having problems with crossfading songs, it doesn´t work. How do I fix that?

I installed the new version of Itunes (10.5.2.11) and I have a party playlist in wich I need the songs to crossfade for the music to continue playing non-stop. The problem is that even when the crossfade option is activated, it doesn´t crossfade songs. And when it does, the last song played, keeds playing in backgroung from star, so you hear 2 songs at the same time.
Also, I uninstalled the current version an installed an older version, but it won´t let me open the program, becouse "the iTunes Library was created in a newer vewrsion"

It seems that this is a MAJOR issue with MANY end users experiencing the exact same problem - iTunes 10.5.2.11 Crossfade is completely buggy. Apple, get it together, seriously...your QA department should all be fired for this.

One thing to keep in mind, at least what has worked for me: After you make a change to the crossfade timing, you must close out of iTunes and re-open before the new settings take place.
Crossfade timing = 12 seconds actually equates to about 50 seconds.
Click the slider, then use your arrow key to tick over about 20 times - this should crossfade your songs approximately 6 seconds before ending.
Apply, then close out and re-open iTunes...
Peruse through the link above, there are different approaches. Maybe one will work for you.

Is there an official "how to revert to itunes 10" guide anywhere???

Is there a guide somewhere for removing itunes 11 and getting itunes 10 back without losing all my metadata? I have looked around and found some for Mac users, but not for a pc user. Appreciate the help.
For those who care, the following are some of the main features that I used iTunes for that are gone:
-Cover flow gone
     I used this feature for many reasons, but primarily in conjunction with iTunes DJ + Full Screen mode + my TV.
     Nobody at my parties ever asks what song is playing. They just look at the TV, they can see the name, album, artist of the current song plus the album covers of the past/future songs.
-iTunes DJ gone / gimped
      Yay we can now use the "play next" feature all over the place.
      --Where is the "past X songs" and "upcoming X songs" playlist that appeared when you clicked on iTunes DJ?
      --Where is the option to randomly play songs from a selected playlist, with "higher rated songs played more often"?
       --Where is remote support? At house parties people could use their iphones to view my library (which was set DIFFERENT from the library of songs chosen by DJ; that is, DJ only played my "party" playlist, but guests could view my entire library for requesting upcoming songs).
-Dark background view gone; bugged for many users
       I hate the white view. For someone who spends long periods in front of the computer, it really strains the eyes and I prefer to use a dark background for any and all computer apps. It simply makes no sense why you would remove this simple feature.
-New UI is more "pretty" than "useful".
      Seriously dropped the ball on this one. Perhaps if I was an apple fanboy and had all your vague icons and systems memorized; but being a "non-Apple tech-geek" it took me far to long to navigate the very unintuitive menus and worse off, my playlists/etc are all hidden by default. What is the point of that?

iTunes 11 seems to shuffle just fine for me.
You can restore much of the look & feel of the previous version with these shortcuts:
Ctrl-B to turn on the menu bar.
Ctrl-S to turn on the sidebar (your device should be listed here as before).
Ctrl-/ to turn on the status bar.
Click the magnifying glass top right and untick Search Entire Library to restore the old search behaviour.
If you want to roll back to iTunes 10.7 first download a copy of the 32 bit installer or 64 bit installer as appropriate, uninstall iTunes and suppporting software, i.e. Apple Application Support & Apple Mobile Device Support. Reboot. Restore the pre-upgrade version of your library database as per the diagram below, then install iTunes 10.7.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to scan the media folder and catch up with any changes made since the backup file was created.

Lost ipod

I've lost my ipod which had some fantastic party playlists on it. Is there a way of finding the playlists in my itunes library without plugging that ipod in? Those playlists don't appear in my itunes library. I want to recreate these playlists on my new ipod without having to find them all again. Thanks

If the playlists that were on the iPod weren't also in your library there is no way to to get them back except by recreating them manually. iTunes does not hold any record of playlists that were on the iPod only those created in iTunes on the computer.

How to create playlist of party shuffle from CD?

I had moved all my gigabytes of songs into a DVD to free up some space. How do i create playlist of party shuffle from the DVD?

You can't create a playlist within the shuffle itself. It has to be created in iTunes first, then synced across.

Multiple Party Shuffle playlists???

Is there a way to create multiple party shuffle playlists?? I would like to have a party shuffle for 3 or 4 different genres of music

well, ive done that already.. But you see, Im setting up a internet radio station using automator to change playlists automaticly.. So I want a few different party shuffle playlists already set up so i can just trigger those at a sheduled time.
Maybe there is a way to switch the party shuffle input playlist within automator??

Plug your iPod in and when it appears in iTunes, click on it from under Devices in the left hand pane. This brings you to the Summary tab. Locate and click on the Music tab. What configurations do you have made from under this tab? Is your iPod configured to sync those playlists?

Party Shuffle Playlist on iPod Video 60GB

How do i upload Party Shuffle on my iPod.
I don't want the current items on Party Shuffle in iTunes, but the Smart Playlist that will shuffle my songs on my iPod.
It's driving me nuts, can't figure out how to do..

Party shuffle is only on iTunes.
You can shuffle everything on the iPod.
From the main menu, select Shuffle Songs.

Playlists on Zen Nano or MuVo TX FM using 3rd party softw

I know that the Zen Nano / MuVo TX FM / MuVo N200 do not permit the creation of playlists. But if you use a third party software program like Notmad Explorer, can you create playlists? The features page suggests that you *can* create playlists...

Somebody recently helped me with this here. With the Nano Plus, anyway, Creative gives you Zen Nano Explorer software. You set up your music on the player in folders, and this is how you navigate to albums, artists, "Playlists" or however you have your folders set up. You can create a folder containing the tracks you want in a "playlist", then this software has a utility that allows you to arrange them in the order you want. It appends the track filename with numbers in that order so your tracks play in the order you picked. It acts exactly like a playlist, except it is another regular folder with another copy of your song in it (it cannot create a pointer to the track elsewhere on your player like a REAL playlist can). These little flash players have very simple menus and structure. They can display the title from the ID3 tag, but can't do anything with genre, album, etc. unless you organize folders this way.
The bottom line is that if you want a selected bunch of tracks to play in a specific order, this can be done, and they include the software to do it with the player.

I don't think there is a limit. I just tried a playlist with 3000 songs and had no problem. You can certainly can make one big enough for a nice long party.
