Party Shuffle not responding

For the first time I changed the source from the default smart playlist of 'Top 25 Most Played'. Whichever playlist/library I changed to (including back to the aforementioned), I received the following message:
The playlist "Anylist" does not contain any songs playable by Party Shuffle. Are you sure you want to choose this playlist?
I've tried dragging tracks to Party Shuffle, which only shows that it won't receive them; I've removed Party Shuffle via Preferences and then added it again, all without affect.
What is wrong and how is it rectified?

I have just had the same problem, although on OS X.
The solution for me was to exit iTunes and then load it again.
I believe that my problem was that when I loaded iTunes, I was not connected to the NAS share with my music. Connecting to that share populated all the play lists correctly but party shuffle did not seem to recognise this.
I am new to OS X after years of DOS/Windows and predecessors and I still find it strange that it will not connect to a share automatically when needed.

Has anyone had trouble with the iTunes party shuffle not working? I have unistalled iTunes and reinstalled iTunes hoping that would fix the problem but I just keep getting an alphabetical list of my songs in the party shuffle mode.

Tried to sed the partyshuffle funtion.. told it to use a certain smart playlist i use as source. I-Tunes then tells me: That the playlist does not contain any numbers party shuffle can play??????????????????? If I just select the playlist and pres splay songs work fine. Oh and forward button soemtimes stop working.

You need to make sure all songs have a checkmark in front of their name.

If party shuffle or visualizer will not refresh... select all songs in PS/list and delete, the visualizer needs default settings, reset... start visualizer full screen and type 'D'.... type '?' for more options.
Once done they seem to disappear... who knows why ???

Party Shuffle not working...help?

I can't get my Party Shuffle to work. I'm running version 7.0.1 and when I select Party Shuffle there's nothing on the playlist. Then I select a source (doesn't seem to matter what I select here...Music, or Purchased or a Playlist) and shuffle and I get an error message that says "The playlist "xxx" does not contain any songs playable by Party Shuffle. Are you sure you want to choose this playlist?" This is the first time I've actually tried this, although I've been importing music to my itunes for some time. Thanks!

Usually, you will only get that message when choosing an empty playlist or one containing streams only.
Any other playlist should work.
I've tried to get the same problem as you're having, using various settings in iTunes 7.0.2, but I did not succeed.
iTunes 7.0.2 has a number of bugs fixes. Can you (and are you willing to) upgrade to iTunes 7.0.2 and tell us if the problem is solved or still persists?

Party Shuffle not very random

Why is it that when I play songs from a 1000+ Playlist on Party Shuffle, almost every time, it pulls up the same song twice (sometimes 3 times) within a 10 minute period. It seems to happen way more than is statisticically correct. And why isn't there a setting to tell it to not play the same song twice, like an Ipod does on shuffle?

Yes. I think the difference is that I usually have it set to only show the next 5 songs, and you have it set to show the next hundred. So, I guess I have never seen it show the same song twice in that list of 5, but in the case yesterday, and what happens more often than it should, is that it will be playing a song, and the same song will show up in the number 5 slot of upcoming songs. I guess I could set it to 100, and at least get 100 songs without a repeat, but it still seems something is screwy with its random chip to even pick so many duplicates the way I am doing it.

Party shuffle Not really "shuffled"

Alright, In my party shuffle window ALL I get is my library, IN ALBUM ORDER, i.e. Album "a", track 1, 2, 3, 4 ,5 etc...Album "b", track 1, 2, 3, 4, 5...etc.
This is hardly a shuffle.
I can press the shuffle button FOREVER and it will not change at all. Nothing changes ever, no matter what I do.
Any Ideas?

Actually only one.
Try this:
Select all songs and press the Delete key.
This will force iTunes to repopulate the Party Shuffle playlist.
Does the Shuffle button work now?

Party Shuffle not recognizing songs

When using my Party Shuffle, I noticed that not all the songs from the album selected were playing. I set up a sample album to see what was going on. On putting in the songs that were not playing, I got the message that "The playlist 'Trial' does not contain any songs playable by Party Shuffle." All the songs are checked to play, so this is not the issue.
Upon further testing, there is no rhyme or reason to which songs Party Shuffle will recognize and which ones it doesn't. For example, I select all of Album A (an album I downloaded) to put in my Trial album, and it will recognize all the songs EXCEPT for 2. I put in Album B instead (another album I downloaded), and it ONLY recognizes 4 songs from this one.
This holds true for albums that I downloaded as MP3 or AAC. These songs that won't play in the Party Shuffle play just fine if I use the shuffle within the Trail Album.
The only possible solution I can think of is re-downloading my music-not something I have tried as I really don't want to do this...
Anyone have any suggestions??

I'm sorry, I wasn't clear. I'm talking about shuffle on the iPod. I have the songs in my Christmas playlist deselected so that they don't play when I shuffle songs in my iPod - I thought. But since the last update, they seem to play anyhow.
So I guess what I'm saying is that I'd like to shuffle the songs within my Xmas Playlist, but when I set the iPod's settings to SHUFFLE/SONGS, it will shuffle them from the list once I start it playing, but then it will onlys shuffle SOME of them, not all. I don't get it. Do I have to play them in order to hear all 296 items in the list? Because it only plays 92 at a time. Then when it plays songs from one album too many times, I go and choose another song and it shuffles again from 91, 92 or 93 songs, it seems kind of random. So it is shuffling within the list, but it is only shuffling 1/3 of the songs, and not playing the rest at all.

Party Shuffle Not Updating

My party shuffle playlist is empty. It does not fetch new songs from my library, and pressing the shuffle button does nothing to add new songs to the list. I've got it set to 15 songs for both past and upcoming songs.
I can play songs in party shuffle by right clicking on them in the library and selecting play next in party shuffle. Once the song is done though the music stops.
Can someone help?

What version of iTunes are your running? There was a glitch in 7.0.1 re: Party Shuffle. Version 7.0.2 fixed this issue.

Since I upgraded to the version above the Party Shuffle only plays one song at a time. All others work fine and play continually.
Bit of a pain because I use Party Shuffle all the time!

i have been experiencing the same problem and itz still not fixed after i had made sure that the 'crossfade playback' is selected. i just dont get it. and then, itunes also seems to highlight the playing track in total blue, which it did not regualarly do-weird.
then, i have also tried re-installing which makes no difference and even worse, i tried installiing the previous version but it wont work cuz it cant read the library that was created by the latest version. so, am stuck with itunes that just wont work properly! this *****! life is just not 'hapenin' without party shuffle!

Itunes Party Shuffle not Shuffling

I recently moved my music from my PC to my laptop via the iTunes CD Backup. Since then, the iTunes party shuffle, which i use when I'm doing homework won't shuffle the songs, it instead just plays them in alphabetical order by title. how do i change this?

It seems it's even worse. At the bottom of the page, where it says select source, I picked a playlist that has my 5 star rated songs, yet the main list in the shuffle area stubbornly remains the same.

Party Shuffle Not Refreshing/Changing after running Genius on 8.0.2

Ever since running a few Genius playlists, the Party Shuffle feature is stuck. I change playlists, hit refresh and it stays locked on the last Genius playlist. Very weird. I've restarted iTunes several times too.

Another thing -- I just rebooted my computer and got the same thing: opened iTunes and I still have absolutely no control over the party shuffle. It's stuck on the last Genius list. Changing lists, refreshing does nothing.
Is my iTunes DB corrupted or is this a nice bug that they'll fix in 8.0.3 (please!).

Basically... the subject says it all--Party Shuffle won't shuffle my songs. It simply lists my library.
The shuffle button doesn't do anything.

I am having the same problem. Almost all of my library (3003 out of 3070) shows up in Party Shuffle in alphabetical order and the Shuffle button has no effect. I am using iTunes 7.0.2(15) under Mac OS X 10.4.8. I have tried turning Party Shuffle on and off, changing the Source, number of recently played songs and upcoming songs. I've changed the Preferences as to Groups or Songs and even how likely the same artist is played. Iuse this feature all the time and it has worked perfectly up until yesterday (or possibly the day before). No upgrades done in the interim.

Party Shuffle not shuffling all that much

I use the Party Shuffle feature of iTunes a lot while I'm using my iMac. I've noticed, though, that it doesn't shuffle all that much. I've got somewhere around 5,500 tracks in my iTunes library and I seem to get the same handful of albums and tracks coming up with monotonous regularity.
I'm using version 7.5 of iTunes and Shuffle source is set to "Music", SmartShuffle is set to "Less likely" and "Songs" and I have also done the "delete and refresh" solution suggested in other topics on this forum. None of this seems to have made any difference, so can anyone suggest any other options?

Check and make sure that all the tracks in the library have a check mark in the little box to the left of the title. If the boxes aren't checked, iTunes will play only a selected song and then stop. If the boxes are all unchecked, I believe you can check them all at once by control-clicking in one box.
