Pass bound value to Javascript function

I'm working in JDeveloper 10.1.2. I'm working on an application generating JSPs for the UI. I display an HTML table using a databound control from the data control pallette. The last column in the table is a button for each row. The user should be able to click a row's button and have a popup window display a page showing a table of detailed info on the the record in the html table row selected.
Basically I want to pass the id/key for the row to a javascript function using the onclick event of the button. Here is my first attempt:
<input type="button" onclick="popupDetail(<c:out value="${Row['AuditSeqid']}"/>)"/>
The compiler barfed on the c:out tag. I don't know if it would even perform the subsitution correctly. The compiler seems to think the double quote starting the value attribute is ending the onclick event descriptor. Escaping with \" just brought up different errors.
Can anyone recommend a way to pass a bound column's value from a rowset into a javascript function as a parameter?
Thanks for any help you can give. I'm totally new to JDeveloper. This would be easy in simple JSPs, but with the Oracle data binding, I don't know what tags/objects are available from which I can grab the value.

Found the solution:
<td>
<input type="button" name="detailsButton" value="Details" onClick="javascript:popupDetail('<c:out value="${Row['AuditSeqid']}" />');"/>
</td>

    How to pass _ti value to javascript's window in personalization's Destination URI of  a Button.
    In Self-Service HR, under my benefit's final confirmation page, I added a new button,
    when clicked would do a javascript alert saying "You have successfully completed your 2008 Benefit Enrollment Process". After clicking ok button, it takes to a printable page.
    Here is my code in the Destination URI field
    javascript:onClick=alert('You have successfully completed your 2008 Benefit Enrollment Process'); window.location='OA.jsp?page=/oracle/apps/ben/selfservice/enrollment/webui/EnrlConfPG&retainAM=Y&OARF=printable';
    The alert works but after clicking ok, I get error.
    Looks like it is expecting ti value in the URL and if I pass ti value like this, it works
    window.location='OA.jsp?page=/oracle/apps/ben/selfservice/enrollment/webui/EnrlConfPG&retainAM=Y&OARF=printable&_ti=800699419'
    But where do I get the real ti value? instead of hard-coded value, as ti is not constant and it changes for each login or session

    Please help!
    Thanks

    Burkepm,
    Two things:
    1)Don't use .showModalDialog api of MSDN library, because its only applicable to modal dialog pages in IE.This api won't work on any other browser. Moreover,u will need to add
    < base target="_self " />
    under <head> tag of pop up page. This is required because imodal window api of javascript provided in MSDN would not be able to recognize its parent window with out this.
    So,its not possible to close the pop up window and submit data to the base page form by submitting the page when we close the pop up.
    You can OAF js function for openeing the pop up window.
    2)Secondly, there is way to invoke js pop window function without setting profiles I have mentioned in my blog.This is basically through bound values, for ehich url is genaradted dybnamically, so there is no MAC key url validation.
    Here is the code u need to use this code in process request.:
    import oracle.apps.fnd.framework.webui.beans.nav.OAButtonBean;
    import oracle.apps.fnd.framework.webui.OABoundValueEmbedURL;
    OAButtonBean btn = (OAButtonBean)webBean.findChildRecursive("<button item id>");
    String page= "/xxx/oracle/apps/XXX/abc/webui/xxxPg&retainAM=Y";
    String destURL = APPS_HTML_DIRECTORY + OAWebBeanConstants.APPLICATION_JSP + "?"+ OAWebBeanConstants.JRAD_PAGE_URL_CONSTANT+ "=" + page;
    OABoundValueEmbedURL jsBound = new OABoundValueEmbedURL(btn,"openWindow(self, '", destURL, "' , 'longTipWin', {width:"+900+", height:"+500+"}, true); return false;");
    btn.setAttributeValue(oracle.cabo.ui.UIConstants.ON_CLICK_ATTR, jsBound);
    I hope this helps.

  • How to pass value from Javascript function to a Java class method

    Hi All,
    I want to pass a value, which I catch in a Javascript function to a method in a Java class. I have tried many combinations but it gives me error.
    This is the way I am doing
    function assignBill() {
    proj = projPh.substring(0,indSlash);
    <% myproject.getProj(" project_cd = '" + proj + "'");%>
    proj is the variable which I want to pass to getProj methods.
    If any one has done this, please let me know. Thanks for your help.
    Ritesh Mehta

    The only way to receive something from clients page is to submit it somehow: through a form or link, but the info has to make it back to the server obviously. I dont know how your app works, but you can use the the javascript -location.href- function(i think) to submit the var to the server and process it there.

  • How to pass Application Item value in Javascript function.

    Hi,
    I have the following javascript in the HTML Form Element Attributes properties
    I am on Page1 and passing P1_DEPT_NO page item value. This is working perferctly fine and I am able to get the exact value of the page item
    onchange="javascript:function1($x('P1_DEPT_NO').value);"I am on Page1 and passing Application Item G_DEPT_NO value.
    The problem here is, I am not getting the Application item value inside the javascript function.
    I tried using alert(); and it's giving me value as undefined
    onchange="javascript:function1($x('G_DEPT_NO').value);"Just want to know, how to pass the Application Item value in Javascript.
    Thanks,
    Deepak

    Deepak,
    I am not an expert at Javascript, but the suggestin I made was because javascript is a case-sensitive language.. and therefore onChange is not the same as onchange.
    Not quite sure if that is causing the problem.
    Application items are not associated with a page and therefore have no user interface properties.
    Therefore, as mentioned in another post, the rendering would not work for application items.
    If it is for a single item, used only in this page, you could create a hidden page item and use it fo your purpose
    If you still want to look at application items and AJAX, This page contains examples of using AJAX to solve problems like the one you mentioned.

  • How to pass a value to javascript from flash using externalinterface

    hi,
    i'm currently trying to call a javascript function and pass values to it. but i'm not really familiar in using the addcallback since i only tested on calling a function from flash without passing anything to the function.
    Basically, i'm going to retrieve the values of a node from xml.
    and then i will assign those values to a variable in flash.
    now what i'm going to do next is pass this value to a javascript parameter..is it done using externalinterface?
    Could anyone give me an example.
    I just need to throw the value to the javascript function parameter and no return values to the actionscript.
    The event is that whenever an image is click, the corresponding value for each image is passed to the javascript function.
    here is my unfinished script.
    function imageClicked(e:Event):void {
        for each (var imageURL:XML in xml.images.link_to)
            ExternalInterface.call("TestButton",imageURL);
    thanks so much in advance.

    first, it seems that the 'TestButton' funciton in JS will be called several times when an image is clicked - for each loop in the 'for each' loop you wrote.
    second, in order to test the communication between AS and JS, try starting with something simple, like -
    ExternalInterface.call('alert', 'OK');
    if this doesn't work try tracing the ExteranlInterface.available property/
    if it does work, place an alert within the 'TestButton' in the JS code, to see its actually being called.
    and so forth...
    good luck,

  • Passing parameter values to powershell function from batch file

    Hello ,
       I haven't used powershell for a while and getting back to using it. I have a function and I want to figure out how to pass the parameter values to the function through batch file.
    function Check-FileExists($datafile)
    write-host "InputFileName : $datafile"
    $datafileExists = Test-Path $datafile
    if ($datafileExists)
    return 0
    else
    return -100
    <#
    $datafile = "C:\Dev\eMetric\PreIDWork\PreIDFiles\SampleInputFile_011.txt"
    $returncode = Check-FileExists -datafile $datafile
    Write-Host "ReturnCode : $returncode"
    $datafile = "C:\Dev\eMetric\PreIDWork\PreIDFiles\SampleInputFile_01.txt"
    $returncode = Check-FileExists -datafile $datafile
    Write-Host "ReturnCode : $returncode"
    #>
    The above code seems to be work when I call it. But when I try to call that script and try to pass the parameter values, I am doing something wrong but can't figure out what.
    powershell.exe -command " &{"C:\Dev\eMetric\PreIDWork\PowerShell\BulkLoad_Functions.ps1" $returncode = Check-FileExists -datafile "C:\Dev\eMetric\PreIDWork\PreIDFiles\SampleInputFile_01.txt"}"
    Write-Host "ReturnCode : $returncode"
    $file = "C:\Dev\eMetric\PreIDWork\PreIDFiles\SampleInputFile_01.txt"
    powershell.exe -file "C:\Dev\eMetric\PreIDWork\PowerShell\BulkLoad_Functions.ps1" $returncode = Check-FileExists -datafile $datafile
    Somehow the I can't get the datafile parameter value being passed to the function. Your help would be much appreciated.
    I90Runner

    I am not sure about calling a function in a script like how you want to. Also I see you are setting the values of the parameters, this is not needed unless you want default values if nothing is passed. The values for the parameters will be passed via the
    batch file. So for me the easiest way is as indicated.
    param
    [string]$DataFile
    function Check-FileExists($datafile)
    write-host "InputFileName : $datafile"
    $datafileExists = Test-Path $datafile
    if ($datafileExists)
    return 0
    else
    return -100
    Write-Host "Return Code: $(Check-FileExists $DataFile)"
    Then you create a batch file that has
    start powershell.exe
    -ExecutionPolicy
    RemoteSigned -Command
    "& {<PathToScript>\MyScript.ps1 -DataFile 'C:\Dev\eMetric\PreIDWork\PreIDFiles\SampleInputFile.txt'}"
    Double click the batch file, and it should open a powershell console, load your script and pass it the path specified, which then the script runs it and gives you your output

  • Passing Bound values to templates containing choice tags

    I have a template which loads a DataObjectList into a
    <choice> tag.
    The values im passing in, to be used for the column name: are not being interperted correctly.
    The tag is using them as values to be rendered. i.e. 'output text'.
    The value are actually column names within my table. For example:
    <choice data:name="myChoiceBoxName@ui:rootAttr">
    <contents data:childData="hashMapKey@dataProviderName">
    <option data:text="dbColumnNameOne@ui:rootAttr"
    data:value="dbColumnNameTwo@ui:rootAttr" />
    </contents>
    </choice>
    I am certain the values passed in are correct.
    The option tag is displaying the bound value as text.
    I need this value to be interperted as a db column.
    If I hardcode the column name in the 'text' field and hardcode the column name in the 'value' field it works fine. That approach is unacceptable and renders the template useless.
    Is this expected behavior for this senario or is their some additional documention, besides Chapter 4 UIX Developer's Guide, that would clear this up?
    Tks for any information.
    Booker Northington II

    Lets say you have a database table. Within that table you have a column called Address. I am passing the string 'Address' into the template.
    Within the option tag, when I bind the value, instead of it going to the db and returning the 'value' of 'Address', it prints 'Address' within the choice box, once the box is rendered.
    Now, If I hardcode 'Address' within the option 'value' field, when the choice box is rendered, it displays, '1004 AnywhereInUSA'.
    Why dose it work when I hardcode the value, but when I try to bind, a bound value (the value passed in), it read as text?

  • Select list display value in javascript function

    Hi All,
    I have a select list in a tabular form having a display value & return value.
    I am using $x(var_name).value or $v(var_name) for retreving return value of the select list in a javascript function.
    Can anyone let me know how can I get the display value of the select list in a javascript function? Im using Apex 3.2
    Thanks & Regards,
    Sandeep

    What if the select list is not an item. Select list I am talking about is in a tabular form.Regardless of how they're generated in APEX, in JavaScript they're all DOM nodes. There are many ways of accessing the node of the required element. Consider the Items for Order... tabular form on page 29 of the Sample Application:
    var productNameLOV = document.wwv_flow.f04[0] // select list containing name of product on first order line
    var productNameLOV = $x("f04_0001") // another way of accessing the same node, using the ID attribute generated by apex_itemWe can see this using the Safari console:
    => productNameLOV = document.wwv_flow.f04[0]
        <select name="f04" id="f04_0001" autocomplete="off">…</select>
    => productNameLOV = $x("f04_0001")
        <select name="f04" id="f04_0001" autocomplete="off">…</select>Once you've got the node&mdash;however you get it&mdash;you then use the methods shown above:
    => i = productNameLOV.selectedIndex
        3
    => productNameLOV.options.text
    "Business Shirt [$50]"
    So it appears you would use:var item = document.wwv_flow.f01[i];
    var selected = item.selectedIndex;
    var selectedOption = item.options[selected].text;
    This is meaningless:...
    var my_var = document.wwv_flow.f01[i].id; // f01 is tabular column of select list
    if ($x(my_var) == 'display_value') //$x(my_var) is having return value, but i need display_value there
    <tt>$x(my_var)</tt> returns a DOM node object, whilst <tt>'display_value'</tt> is a string: they are not comparable.

  • How to pass filter values to planning function in Integrated planning

    Dear Experts,
    I have a input ready query where the variables are filled with authorization objects by user. All variables are defined as multiple single values.
    I created a workbook with 3 filter dropdown box - calmonth, company code and version (displayed as text). In the filter drop down box the user selects the company code, version and calmonth for planning. I would like to pass the selected filter values to a planning funciton. How can we pass these selected single filter values to a planning funciton?
    Note: I am able to reference cells for variables that are not in filter (for eg: revaluation function with this document https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/f0881371-78a1-2910-f0b8-af3e184929be).

    Hi,
    Your requirement sounds similar to example given by SAP
    [http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/45/e641e4c61256dee10000000a114a6b/content.htm]
    If you do not want the from value be selected, and its already decided, then gofor restriction of values in filter than to the variable.
