Pass meta data on to material?

Hi,
I wonder if it's possible to pass on meta data from document classification to material classification. I tried using the hierarchy functionality but I only managed to assign classes with the same class type to each other.
Does anyone have a suggestion?
What I'm trying to do is to pass e.g. weight from the CAD system through the CAD interface to the DIR and then on to the material, batch etc.
Best regards,
Kristoffer Pehrson

Hi Kristoffer,
In object link of SAP DMS there are two objects material master and class, these two may help you.

  • Workflow for avchd clips and meta data

Just started using a Panasonic AG-AF100 on a 5 month project.  Will be producing 1000's of clips.  So I have off-loaded the first 3 cards we shot and have discovered something about avccam material.  If you just copy the .MTS files from their /stream folder or rename the file with a name instead of its original number produced in the camera you lose the timecode and other meta data.
If I leave the clips in that folder and other card folders in their associated directories and "import" clip with Premiere Media Browser it retains the timecode.  Trouble is that I cannot see thumbnails in Media Browser and the clip number means little.  Bridge on my Win7/64bit machine shows thumbnails (but no preview) and a double-click will preview in Win Media Player.
On my main edit station (Vista/64bit) Bridge neither shows thumbnails or previews and I get no avchd .mts playback in Windows Media Player.  Everything worrks the same within Premiere, nice solid editing and playback of avchd clips. (I will probably upgrade this machine to Win7 next week)
So my request for advice/questions are:
Suggestions for managing and organizing large qualities of clips with what will be similar names, etc
Previewing updates or options to find media
How do you manage AVCHD material and still maintain meta data?
Thanks so much!!  As I get older and the technology seems faster, stronger, sharper, the demands on my brain get tougher.
    Rick

    Rick,

You mustmustmust keep the files in their folder structure, if you intend to maintain timecode. You've clearly discovered this Good you did so early. The folder structure thing is really not a big deal; there is very little need to manipulate these at the OS level, and the Media Browser in PPro makes it reasonably easy to bring these in for editing. You can pre-build a folder structure into which you can offload each card's worth of clips.
Trouble is that I cannot see thumbnails in Media Browser and the clip number means little.  Bridge on my Win7/64bit machine shows thumbnails (but no preview) and a double-click will preview in Win Media Player.

Windows 7 has built-in splitters and decoders for H.264 media, so that's the reason you can at least get thumbnails in Bridge and playback the files in WMP there. The Media Browser, even on Windows 7, won't show thumbnails as they are not saved into the folder structure the way that P2 saves a poster image into the folder structure. Note that even "standard" containers like AVI or MOV do not display a thumbnail in Media Browser.
As far as Bridge is concerned: I know a lot of people like it, but from my perspective, it's just about worthless for video. This is largely an application designed for photography workflows that has been shoehorned into "working" with video. I don't even like it for AVI/MOV.
The ugly truth is that Bridge is not going to be much, if any, help in this workflow. However, there may be another tool in the suite that will accomplish what you need: OnLocation. You won't get thumbnails, but you can browse through the folder structure without knowing you're doing it, import clips to preview them, and add metadata. You could do this for each card you offload. Then, in Premiere, simply use Media Browser to navigate to your OnLocation Project, and it will open up just like a folder, listing all your clips with the metadata you added. Granted, it is not a perfect workflow, but once you added that metadata, it will flow with the files wherever you move them around in the Adobe suite--it won't go elsewhere, as it's not injected into the files themselves. So long as you're editing in Premiere, you're good.
Now, there is another thing you can do that may make clip management even easier, though it does require a bit of forethought in pre-production. It will really depend on the type of project you're shooting, but you can preload metadata on to an SD card and into the camera, and then automatically record this to the clips as they are shot! I don't have an AVCCAM to give you exact workflow steps, but I do this all the time with my P2 workflow and it's a tremendous help once you hit the edit bay.
If you haven't already, head over to the Panasonic support site: Support Desk Top / Broadcast and Professional AV. You'll need to register for a "PASS" membership (it's free, and you don't need to register a camera), but you can then download the AVCCAM Viewer application. Unfortunately, this application is not quite as helpful as P2 Viewer is (it's rather cartoony, actually), but it does have the metadata editor in it that will let you create your metadata files in advance and save them to an SD card. Then, after consulting the camera manual , you can set those metadata files to be a data source for the footage as you record it. Here's what you can add to the metadata files and, summarily, the clips:
Once you load this into the camera's memory, that data is saved into the clips, and is readable by Premiere. The "User Clip Name" field can be set to auto-increment (again, this is going off my knowledge of the way metadata works in a P2 camera, but the AVCCAM should be similar) so that each clip has a base name and then a serial number. When you're done with a particular scene/shot, you'd load the next metadata files, reset the indexing, and continue. Lather, rinse, repeat.
The biggest hole in the metadata workflow, at least as it pertains to AVCHD/AVCCAM, is that there is no tool (that I'm aware of) that lets you edit this metadata after the fact. With P2, you can--there are a number of applications, both free and payware, that let you do this--but I've yet to find one that works with AVCCAM. Even Panasonic's own AVCCAM Viewer is incapable of this, it seems.
The major advantage to adding file metadata like this is that it travels wherever the clips go, and into whatever application they land in. Not being able to edit it after the fact, though, just plain sucks. This is where the clip metadata you'd add in the Adobe applications comes into play, with the obvious disadvantage that it's only useful in Adobeland. As always, ain't no such thing as a free lunch.
So that's my take on this--it's good you're looking into this before you have a couple terabytes worth of footage on hand Let me know if I can help fill in any details that I might have overlooked. And be sure to check on the Panasonic site linked above for firmware updates to the AF100--I see one came out just a few days ago. It's always good to stay current.
    Good luck!

  • IWeb meta data

I see iWeb is not an HTML editor and I need to add Meta data to my site so that I can submit to search engines. I am using the program because it is very easy and quick to use but I am publishing to a seperate site, not a .mac site. If I open the file with an editor like Dreamweaver I could insert the code no problem and then publish but since that additional code would not be in my original iweb sfiles it would be overwritten next time. Where can I find the original iWeb files on the computer and edit those so that the Meta data will be there every time? Also it has been a few years since I published a commercial website, do they still use meta tags for the search engines?
    Thanks,

All the information iWeb needs to create your websites is in one file called "Domain." When you launch iWeb for the first time, the Domain file's default location is:
    +~/Library/Application Support/iWeb+
(the tilde (~) represents your home directory)
...and edit those so that the Meta data will be there every time?
You cannot edit this Domain file ~ so you have to re-edit the HTML files after publishing.
Also it has been a few years since I published a commercial website, do they still use meta tags for the search engines?
The following is quoted from Patrick Griffiths' book +"XHTML & CSS"+:
The primary application of meta tags used to be in the optimization of a web page for search engine rankings. Keywords and descriptions were used by the search engine algorithms to judge how closely a web page matched a given phrase. Nowadays, however, few search engines take any notice of meta tags that specify page keywords due to their misuse and tendency to lead to irrelevant material. Instead, search engines tend to base their results on the page content itself. Google, for example, will only use the meta tag "description" to accompany a search result, but ignores meta tags altogether when it comes to judging a page's rank. It bases its results primarily on content, the page title, and also terms that are used to link to the page in question.
So is there any real point? Meta tags certainly aren't the force they used to be when it comes to search engines, but they can still be used to convey useful information about the page. Even if an application doesn't directly use a meta tag, someone looking at the page source itself could still benefit from such information. Another common value for the name attribute is "copyright", which won't be directly used by anything (such as search engines or browsers), but can be used to point out copyright information to a casual observer.

  • Passing from data from one page to another

Hi All, i'm currently doing a CSV file upload into a database
application, and I'm wondering if it is possible to pass the data
from the file field to another php file which executes the command
of inserting the data of the csv file into the database? Thanks!!
    Wanqi

You have this in test.php -
    $target_path = $_GET['uploadfile'];
That implies that the page calling test.php is passing
    'uploadfile' as a URL
    variable. But it isn't.
    <form id="form1" name="form1"
    enctype="multipart/form-data" method="post"
    action="test.php">
Why wouldn't $target_path be the same as $uploadfile?

  • STM meta data not defined

Server returning error 1 - meta data not defined
It is not clear to me how to define the meta data used in STM.  I have created an array of clusters that contain a string.  I have named the clusters.  The STM VIs returns an error concerning the meta data not being defined (Figure 1).  Figure 2 shows the server code that generates the error and figure 3 show the client code.  To start, I am trying to pass a simple string but I would like to pass arrays of data once this is working.
Client and server both running LabVIEW 2012 (32-bit) version on Windows 7.
STM package:  stm_1.0.32.zip (not sure this is correct version.  Example programs use VIs with different names.  Unable to run examples because I don't have the VIs used in the examples.)
Application:  Stream data from embedded PC to UI using ethernet connection.

  • PPro CS3 fails to read Meta data

PPro CS3 fails to read Meta data in some files i have imported. It fails to read the start of the timecode and the tape name:
Files imported into PPro CS3: http://web.comhem.se/averdahl/pproCS3_meta.png
The same files imported into PPro 1.5: http://web.comhem.se/averdahl/ppro15_meta.png
The first two clips are captured in PPro 2.0, may 2006, and the rest is captured in PPro CS3, august 2007. I have then used the Split function in Scenalyzer Live to split the captured material into smaller clips. I added the Tape Name in Scenayzer Live.
The Meta data, timecode and tape name, can be read in Scenalyzer Live, Adobe Bridge 2.10.100 and PPro 1.5 but PPro CS3 refuses to read some of it. I have not PPro 2.0 installed right now but will give it a shot later. I have deleted Media Cache Database and reimported the clips in CS3 to no avail. I can create a new Project and import the files with the same reults, some meta data is skipped, so the Project itself is ok.
Do you know why this happens? Does it happen to anyone else? Do anyone have a solution?
    /Roger

Make sure that the file has a .html or another known file extension to make sure that the server recognizes it as an HTML file.
The server may send unknown files automatically as text plain.

    javascript = client-side
    cf = server-side
cf processes and serves your page BEFORE js is executed.
for cf to see js vars, they have to be submitted (back) to
    the server
(i.e. passed as form or url variables, or thorugh AJAX or
    similar way),
so that cf can process them.
if you are trying to populate your cf var with keywords meta
    data FROM
THE SAME PAGE you will have to extract the keywords using js
    like the
script you have, then, for example, populate a form field
    with extracted
data and submit the form to itself. in cf check for existence
    of
specified form variable and populate your cf var with that
    data.
your could instead write a cf page that will look through a
    specified
directory, read each found .cfm/.htm file in it using cfhttp
    or cffile
into a variable, which can then be parsed using regex to
    extract
keywords if present, which in turn will be saved into your
keywords_verity var or anywhere you want.

  • Basic XMP Meta-data builder

    Hey all,
I am not a programmer and though I have been using Adobe Photoshop since 1988, I have never really gotten into the meta-data side of things until this latest project.
I remember once that I used Photoshop's XMP metadata features to create a simple template in which I could enter custom meta-data about my image. It was perfect for what I am doing now.
But now, in CS5, I have started to question whether I have just gotten too old (at 42) to handle this or whether it has been so bloated out of proportion in complexity that I just don't have the patience to figure it out.
I need to record some basic information about some paintings that I have taken photos of and I have the information in a sql database, but it would be nicer to embed the information in the image.
If I could embed this information in my images, it would be great:
Painting Data: (information about the material photographed not the photograph)
    naming
    title (formal)
    title (informal)
    subtitle
    version
    series
    title
    name
    number
    materials
    descr
    colors
    background
    dimensions
    width
    height
    hw ratio
    orientation
    date
Image Data   (refers to information about the actual file and how it is used)
    filename
    filepath
    sizing type
    source file name
    source file path
    source pixel ratio
    width pixels
    height pixels
    ppi
    uses
    Copyright info
But I was hoping to do this without having to learn C++, install Eclipse or piece together bits and pieces from other XMP profiles. Is there any possible way to convert a simple data set like this into xmp metadata?
It seems like there should be a web-app that does it.
Anyways, I'm looking at other sources now, but I would love to know if Adobe is equipped to handle this sort of thing or should I look elsewhere. Thanks as always for your support and/or input.

    A) The free panels for VRA might meet your requirements. There is a
portion for the (art)work pictured, a portion for the image, and a
    portion referencing the collection.
This is an "essential" subset of the VRA Core 4.0 (XML) metadata
schema used by museums to catalog images of artwork.

    B) If you have existing CS3 File Info Panels that already meet your
needs, then you might be able to convert them to CS4/5 File Info. A
java script and procedure were provided on this forum in July 2010.

  • How to Publish SAML 2.0 Meta Data using WLST

    Hi All,
I would want to know who to publish SAML2.0 metadata using WLST commands? Is there a way to export xml as is done from Weblogic Console >MyServer > Configuration > Federation Services > SAML 2.0 General > Publish Meta Data?
    Regards, Nitish

Wikipedia has a good article on SAML and how it works: Security Assertion Markup Language - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
For it to work in BO, you would need an identity provider and a service provider, and the ability to pass in one of the parameters mentioned in the Admin Guide  (such as REMOTE_USER). The identity provider and service provider would be specified by your organization (we use Shibboleth for example). You may also need to install Apache if your SP does not talk directly to Tomcat (and in which case you can skip the web.xml configuration on p221), though there is other configuration needed for that scenario.
I don't know the answer to your Windows AD question, but it appears there is an AD/SAML service available: Active Directory Federation Services

  • Why are so many TV Show's meta data (ID tags) so inconsistent?

I buy a lot of TV shows and find that there are numerous inconsistencies in the meta data, such as Show Title, Season numbers missing, wrong episode numbers. This results in the shows being filed in different folders, or listed out of order in the library, etc. Of course, this data is correctable by editing the data in iTunes (CMD I), however, it then is only corrected in that particular iTunes Library (the actual meta data in the show's data file isn't corrected). This means that if the library is rebuilt, or the file is used by another iTunes library, the changes are not passed along. How difficult would it be for Apple iTunes Store to have someone that verifies this data and makes the corrections in the files? As an example, see how many shows are listed twice in the store's browse list just due to bad metadata. Come on Apple... how tough is it?

While I appreciate your attempt to "answer" the question... it really is not an acceptable reason. First, Apple maintains the database that lists all the downloadable shows, and it would be unlikely that they can not write a simple filter that validates the ID tags relative to their database and kicks out items on an exception basis (or suspect items). It is only those items that need a minuscule amount of time to correct, which is also a function that could be coded to essentially eliminate all but a very simple exception basis review by an iTunes Store IT person. Quality control has always been a trademark of Apple... this function is no exception. While I "somewhat" agree with regard to the files other than TV show, the quantity of shows added per day is NOT a quantity that would cause an onerous amount of extra work...yet it would provide the user of AppleTV (notice the word TV) with a quality listing of shows.
Perhaps I am mistaken in my assumtion that Apple reviews the commentary posted here. It would seem to be a rich source of information for Apple regarding current consumer's issues.

  • Meta data,Transaction data and Master data

    Hi all,
Could you plz make me clear exactly wht does Meta data,Transaction data and Master data mean and the differences

    Hi Ganesh,
<b>MASTER Data</b> is the data that exists in the organization like employee details, material master, customer master, vendor master etc. These are generally created once.
Master data are distributed throughout the company, they are often not standardised and often redundant. As a result it is very costly to offer efficient customer service, keep track of supply chains and make strategic decisions. With SAP Master Data Management (SAP MDM) these important business data from across the company can be brought together, harmonised and made accessible to all staff and business partners. As a key component of SAP NetWeaver, SAP MDM ensures data integrity via all IT systems.
Regardless of the industry, companies often work with different ERP and Legacy systems. The result: the business processes are based on information about customers, partners and products which is displayed in different ways in the systems. If the data are recorded manually, there are more inconsistencies: some data sets are entered several times, others cannot be retrieved by all divisions of the company.
As corporate applications are becoming increasingly complex and produce ever greater amounts of data, the problem is intensified further. Nevertheless, your employees must work with the inconsistent data and make decisions on this basis. The lack of standardised master data easily leads to wrong decisions, which restrict efficiency and threaten customer satisfaction and profitability.
In a word: in order to save costs and ensure your company’s success it is necessary to consolidate master data about customers, partners and products, make them available to all employees beyond system boundaries and use attributes valid company-wide for the purpose of description.
<b>TRASNACTION Data</b> - These are the business documents that you create using the master data - Purchase orders, sales orders etc

How i know the jdbc driver not compatible to this
mechanismBy reading the documentation tthat comes with your driver. Recent versions of the MySQL JDBC driver do support the getExportedKeys/ImportegKeys methods but the table needs to be crated as InnoDB.
    So run the SQL command
show table statusWhats under the Type column for your table? If it isn't InnoDB then this isn't going to work.
If it is InnoDB but getExportedKeys/ImportegKeys still don't work then you haven't used the "foreign key" constraint in your "create table" command

  • Refresh/Update data in a materialized view

    Hi,
I have question about the data in a materialized view and how it is refreshed. My mat view has all my dimension-ids and my (for my specialize needs) aggregated measures from my fact table. I used the mat view wizard to create my view - which works perfectly. But now I wonder if I have to create some sort of mapping(?) or some sort of trigger to refresh the data in the mat view. Or is the data automatically refreshed when I start my fact table mappings. I use OWB 11gR2
    thx

MVs have properties for refresh - you an refresh based on schedules or when dependent data is committed or manually.
    Cheers
    David
