Pass Value by Form Based on Procedure in Target Frame

I made a form based on procedure and trying to pass all variables to a target frame called "dest2". I got the sample code on this forum and used window.location, but then I figured it can't pass values to another frame. I tried window.open, but can't seem to figure out how to code it.
Basically on the page, it has the portal form using stored procedure, and a IFRAME named "dest2".
The detail my stored procedure is:

they have a complete chapter on creating forms based on stored
procedure.

- create form based on procedure
- in Formatting and Validation page choose required item
- select item type - combobox, enter input height = 5

after creating form I get listbox, but selecting multiple values (with Ctrl or Shift key) not working...

Instead of declaring the array locally within the procedure (i.e. p_add_array), define it in the package specification (i.e. Under Program Units).

Passing values to form bean string array from dynamic added textboxes

Hi,
I am unable to pass values to form bean string array from a jsp in which I have incorporated dynamically adding of textboxes in javascript.
I have given add/delete row option in the jsp. If there is single row, this is working fine. But after adding a row, I am not able to either do any validations on added textboxes or pass the values to the String array form bean variable.

There's no need to post that much code when you could create a very short test case that demonstrates only the problem you are having.
You're using &NAME. notation on something that isn't a page or application item. You can't reference PL/SQL variables that way (or any other way) outside the PL/SQL scope. For your situation, you could create a page item named P55_DOCID and assign it a value in the PL/SQL process (:P55_DOCID := DOCID;), then reference &P55_DOCID. in HTML areas like the success message.

Problem passing OUT parameters form based on stored procedure to another form?

However, I am able to pass parameters of the type IN to the other form.

1. Passing PART_NO (IN parameter) and PART_DESC (OUT paramter) to another form.
2. After hitting the submit button, the second form comes up, but with only the PART_NO(type IN) field completed. The PART_DESC(type OUT) field did not get passed to the second form.
3. The corresponding fields in the second form are pnumber & pdescription.
4. FYI - I can see all the OUT parameters correctly, if I don't try to pass control to the second form.
5. Portal 9.0.2 ( the version that ships with IAS 9.0.2)
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have been stuck here for a while now!

Passing OUT parameter to another form.
You cannot retrieve the value of the OUT parameter from the session object because after executing your procedure,
the value passed out using the OUT parameter is not loaded in the session object.
But you can still achieve what you are trying in the following way.
Let's assume that your procedure has the following str :-

You will have to grant execute privilege on procedure proc1 to your application schema,
if the procedure proc1 lies in a schema other than the application schema.

Trapping exceptions/error messages on form based on procedure

I am trying to display meaningful error messages when various exceptions arise. I have created a form based on a procedure and the procedure works and returns an exception where I want it.
I have been trying to use the PL/SQL Button event handler to return an error message to the user, but have not succeeded. I have tried:

(I have run this code both with a return at the end and not.)
This runs, but this return a page that says:
Error: WWV-0000.
(It does not display 'my error message'.)

I did find some discussions on problems with exceptions when you have a form based on a procedure, but these were from 2001. Any help with this or directions to documentation would be greatly appreciated.

I worked out one answer: the code provided by Oracle for the second example omitted the portal schema qualifier on the wwa_app_module. It should be (for 10g release 2, at least)

This worked, and returned the custom error message.
I still can't figure out why the p_session.set_value returns an error message that's just WWV-0000, but I would like to. Any help, even just what page in what document to look at would be appreciated.

Calling a report from a form based on procedure

I created a form based on a procedure.
It is a entry form where the user is selecting or enters data then on submit I must display the report based on selected data.
I know I can simply create a report with all bind variable and do the job.
My question is what is the syntax to call the report from the procedure for the selected parameters values.

either go or call method.

Hi,
I have a scenario where Form A invokes Form B (also passes some values while invoking) and goes to the background. After the user completes the operations on Form B it closes and I need to pass some values back to Form A.
How do I pass the values back to Form A which is already open?

I would like to create a Portal Form based upon a stored
procedure. I can't seem to find any documentation which
describes the necessary procedural functions.
The form requires standard select, update, delete
capabilities. How does that the procedure 'know'
which operation is being requested by the Form ?

Performance Form based on procedure vs based on table/view

When we design our form, and want to optimize the performance, we came to a question. Will the performance of a form based on a procedure is better or a form based on a table/view is better? And why is it better? or worse?

For me, the question is not "is the stored procedure based block is faster than table based block ?", but "do i use the DML array functionality with table based block?"
If you do not use DML array functionality, then you generate as many roundtrips as you get raws in your block.
With stored procedure based block, you transmit a pl/sql table of record to the procedure.
Anyway, you could do some tests to compare the 2 solutions.

BSP passing value from Form of a page to another page

I've create a bsp page with a form with an inputField and now I need to retrieve the value inserted by the user and pass it to another page.
Can you explain me how I've to do?
Second question is if is possible to use the inputfiled in a pop-up page and then pass the value to the first page.
I've noticed than the first page is not refreshed when I try to pass the value of the other page.

There are two approaches for doing this.
1st approach has been mentioned below.
2nd approach is: I am assuming you are working on Web-IC if its right then this approach is valid:
you are using some attributes from a structure to show the input fields on the screen so what you can do is, in the IP_INBOUNDPLUG method of the new page you can create insatance of the previous page structure and then you can set these values to the new structure of the new page by saying set_attributes.

Passing values between forms! Help please!!!!

I'm stuck. I don't know how to pass a value from one form to the other, and automate a task. For example, I created form1 and from that form1 I want to pass a value to form2...then I want in form2 to query the form2 so it will bring up the complete record of the new value.
I thought if i used javascript code below it would work but I kept getting that some variable were undifined
Form_name.Name_of_input_box.value
that would give me the value of the inputbox. But when i tried doing this...my Form_name was undefined? How do i get the actual name of the form?(i looked that source code when the form was generated but the form name it provides is incorrect or im reading it wrong)

I worked out an example for you:
Form1 is a form on scott.dept
Form2 is a form on scott.emp
When you enter a value for deptno and click on next, it brings up Form2 with the values.
Follow these steps:
1. Create a new button in Form1. Call it NEXT.
2. Select 'Custom' for the PL/SQL button event handler and enter this code:

I am doing something similar to what you have described. I have a custom login form with a hidden field(not login/password) which I need to pass to the next form. I tried calling the form like you have explained, but it's not working. The control goes to
http://portalhost:7777/pls/portal/!PORTAL.wwa_app_module.accept
and it gives a page not found error.
Where do I need to place the pl-sql code? I have tried pasting it in the after processing section in the Additional PL/SQL Code tab, as well as in the Submit section of the PL/SQL Button Event Handler, for the Login button. Both don't work...
