Pass value to open form

Question

Hi,
I am trying to pass a value to a jTextField in a jFrame (called "start") from a class. The following code will not compile:
new start().setVisible(true);
    start.jTextField2.setText("hello");  I receive the following error:
jTextField2 has private access in start How do I make .jTextField2 accessible?

Do you have a class named "start"? That's inadvisable on two accounts:
1. class names should begin with an uppercase letter
2. class names should (normally) be nouns (method names should be verbs).
You can make jTextField2 accessible from outside the class start but you shouldn't. You should provide a method say setJTextField2Text (String text) in the start (or whatever better name you give it after reading this) class and call the method on an instance of the class.
I'm calling your class StartManager.StartManager startManager = new StartManager ();
startManager.setJTextField2Text ("hello");and in StartManager:public void setJTextField2Text (String newText) {
   jTextField2.setText (newText);
