Passcode/fingerprint at lockscreen

i set my phone for needing passcode to 5minutes, but any time my phone is locked i need to enter passcode/use fingerprint, this is why i set it to 5 minutes and not every time yet it still makes me do it every time.  please help, it is annoying

IF you turn on Touch ID then Require Passcode is set to Immediately. There is no longer a choice of 5 Minutes.
if you would like Apple to change this tell them at http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

  • I made a passcode on my lockscreen and i forgot it and it wont let me try it any more and what it says now is " iphone is disabled connect to iTunes

I made a passcode on my lockscreen and i forgot it and i tryed so manytimes it wont let me anymore and it says " iphone is disabled connect to itunes"

So, what is your question? The passcode is there for a reason, and for obvious security reasons you can't bypass that without connecting your iPhone to the computer that it is assigned to.

  • Using Siri to open an App will bypass the Passcode/Fingerprint Authentication

I just used Siri to open an App on an iPhone 5s and it allowed me to bypass the passcode or fingerprint authentication and gain access to the iPhone. Is this a security flaw or do I need to set another option to prevent this? Certain apps require authentication, but so far, Flipboard and Youtube do not and they also allow full access to the iPhone without passcode or fingerprint. I have not tried this on another device with ios7.

One benefit is that using Siri to Open an app seems to be the quickest way to access the phone because the fingerprint scanner authenticates during the button push

  • IOS 7 passcode language on lockscreen

I just updated to iOS 7, and I was ready to set it up when I realized my password was in Greek. It was set to this on purpose- however, when I updated, the only keyboard I have access to is English. How can I change the keyboard from the iOS 7 launch screen, or reset my password?

I too had exactly the same problem, with the exception that my only language options with the new keyboard were English and Spanish. In the end, I had to go into recovery mode (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808) and then restore from a backup. Luckily I back up every day and most of my important documents are in iCloud. Nevertheless, I still had to manually restore downloaded maps, databases, etc., and it took me the whole day to do so.
I've since added the Greek keyboard in settings, but find that I still can't use it for my pass code. In general, I'm not that pleased with iOS 7; I find myself making more typing erros with the new keyboard, there's more lag time in many of my apps, and call me a curmudgeon, but I even liked the old skeuomorphic look.  (My new iPad also has an area of the screen which doesn't respond to touch, but I'm traveling abroad for a year and will have no chance to return it to apple in the USA.  Needless to say I fell doubly screwed over.)
I hope that you've already solved your problem, but regardless, pay attention Apple, and bring out 7.0.1 quick!

  • I've entered my fingerprint into my new 5S, but I can't seem to get it to work.  It keeps asking for my passcode.  How do I switch from passcode to fingerprint?

I've succssefully entered my fingerprint into my new 5S, but I can't get the phone to "accept" it; it keeps asking for my passcode.  When I put my finger on the Home button, it does nothing.  How do I switch from passcode to fingerprint?
    Many thanks.

Make sure you have set Settings > General > Passcode & Fingerprint > Fingerprints > Passcode Unlock = "On".
If you like, also set Settings > General > Passcode & Fingerprint > Fingerprints > iTunes & App Store = "On".

  • Will 10 wrong fingerprint attempts to access my iPhone 5s wipe out my data the same way 10 incorrect passcode attempts do?

Will 10 wrong fingerprint attempts to access my iPhone 5s wipe out my data the same way 10 incorrect passcode attempts do?

    Hi iMonk3y,
After five incorrect fingerprint attempts, Touch ID will revert to requiring a passcode:
    iPhone 5s: Using Touch ID
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5883
Using Touch ID instead of your passcode
You can use Touch ID to unlock your phone without having to enter your passcode every time. There are two ways you can unlock with Touch ID:
Press the Home button once to wake iPhone 5s and keep your finger lightly on the Home button.
Press the Sleep/Wake button once to wake iPhone 5s, and then touch your finger lightly on the Home button.
If Touch ID doesn't recognize your finger, you'll be asked to try again. After three attempts, you'll be given the option of entering your passcode. After two more tries, you will need to enter your passcode. In addition, you will need to enter your passcode to unlock your iPhone in these conditions:
    After restarting your iPhone 5s
When more than 48 hours have elapsed from the last time you unlocked your iPhone 5s
To enter the Passcode & Fingerprint setting

  • After ios 8 update ipad2 is asking for a passcode

Posting for my wife, since she's given up and gone to bed.  Yes, I've read all the lovely information on what to do if you've forgotten your passcode.  Here's the problem; she's never used one.  Ever.  She was working on her ipad earlier this evening, updated, and is now locked out because she can't enter a passcode.  After repeatedly locking the thing up entering every conceivable 4-digit number either of us would have used had we used one (even tried 0000) we are now the proud owners of a very expensive paperweight.
A follow-up, as I already know what the first responses will be.  She does not have a backup as we've never figured out how to have iTunes allow one computer to be authorized for two accounts.  I assumed she was backing up to iCloud but apparently not.  What, if any, information would she be able to recover if she had to completely reset?  All of her business data is on the pad; contacts, appointment calender, the works.  Do contacts  and calender get saved to iCloud if you don't use it to backup the device?  If we can get that much at least she can start over, though I suspect it won't be on an iPad.  I wasn't aware she knew some of the words she was using on her way up the stairs.
Just to weed out a couple of other probable comments, she does not use Find my device, has never had to enter a passcode on her lockscreen (just a swipe) before, and installed the update over WiFi.  I have not updated any of my devices and won't be until I know what happened with hers, so I'm not sure what the process is or where a code might have been accidentally entered.  She swears she didn't enter any codes during the update, but I am of the "believe but verify" camp when computers are involved.
I have a pretty good idea the answer is going to be "You're SOL, reset or chuck it" but I hold onto a thin thread of hope.

At what stage is it asking for a passcode?
The reason I ask is that during the upgrade process, the upgrade will ask you for a passcode if you do not already have one set; you have to explicitly tell it not to add a passcode if you didn't have one set.
Is it possible that at that stage of the upgrade, your wife just entered four digits assuming it was asking her for a prior passcode, and now the device is using those digits as a passcode?

  • Problem with fingerprint setting

Hey, i bought an iphone 5s yesterday. I set up the fingerprint yesterday and it worked fine. But after that i faced some problem with the system so i reset the wholephone and edit and deleted my original fingerprint. but after that, my phone cant reenter the fingerprint. it can't read any fingerprint and the name is changed to touch id. what should i do with it?

    Hello annteoeena,
Congratulations on your iPhone 5s, and thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing when using Touch ID.  I recommend following the steps below for an issue like the one you described:
    Troubleshooting Touch ID
Verify that you are using the latest version of iOS.
Ensure that your fingers and the Home button are clean and dry.*
Note: Cover the Home button completely. Don't tap too quickly, don't press down hard, and don't move your finger while Touch ID is scanning.
Tap Settings > General > Passcode & Fingerprint > Fingerprints and verify:
Passcode Unlock or iTunes & App Store is enabled.
One or more fingerprints have been enrolled.
If one finger isn't working, tap Edit in Settings > General > Passcode & Fingerprint > Fingerprints > Edit to delete and then reenroll the finger.
If that finger still isn't working, try enrolling a different finger.
If you are unable to enroll any of your fingers, take your iPhone 5s to an Apple Retail Store, Apple Authorized Service Provider, or contact AppleCare for further assistance.

  • How to set Passcode lock time in iOS 7.02?

In upgrading my Sprint, iPhone 5s from iOS 7.0 to 7.0.2, when go to Settings/General/Passcode-Fingerprint/Require Passcode, it is now set on "Immediately", when, in 7.0, I had it set for 15 minutes.
When I touch the word "Immediately", the screen shows the word "Immediately", followed by a checkmark. Below the word "Immediately", is a text line stating "Shorter times are more secure."  However, when I touch the word "Immediately", the drop down menu that previously appeared under Version 7.0, which provided a choice of Passcode lock times, no longer appears, so I cannot change the time settings for the Passcode lock function.
Is the choice of time settings willfully no longer available, or is this a bug?  If a bug, is there a workaround?
    Thank you!!

I found an answer, as I had the same issue.  And of course, like many things Apple, it's fairly simple.
The issue arises when you have Touch ID enabled.  Once you disable Touch ID, you will then have choices of longer periods before a passcode is required.  Of course then you don't have Touch ID, but mine rarely works anyway.  My skin is too dry and it fails constantly.
There is a good explanation here: http://danstillman.com/2013/09/30/touch-id-and-require-passcode-immediately

  • Having Problems With FIngerprint Unlock?  One Approach...

Finger print unlock never worked well for first 8 days with S5. I would have to scan finger multiple times. And 1/3 the time, it just would not recognize my fingerprint, so I would have to enter the alternate password. But I really wanted it to work.
Solution... I started over and  created a new fingerprint, figuring I had created a bad unlock scan. This time, I did each of the 8 or so sample scans carefully and as much the same as possible. It made all the difference. Now, I can unlock it with the stroke of a finger every time.
Just go to Settings >Fingerprint> Fingerprint Manager and replace your finger print "key" with a better one. Its worth the effort to make a few attempts at this, because once you get a good one, the fingerprint unlock works like a charm almost every time, the first scan.
Also I discovered, I could do the index finger on my other hand since it stores up to 3 fingerprint unlock profiles. Just use the + button at the top of the fingerprint "You Can Register..." screen, to add another one.
(At one point, I suspected the high edges of the Otterbox Defender case was interfering with the placement of my finger over the scanner. But now it is not a problem after all)

  • Passcode Theft Protection

We all know that the addition of the biometrics to the iPhone 5s has led to a decrease in theft of iPhones in general.  To make apple devices even more of an unfavourable item to thieves I propose adding a feature in a future iOS update.  The feature would be paired to the "Power Off" function and not the restart function (as the restart function is more advanced and automatically starts up again).  If the would be thief attempts to power the phone off in attempt to avoid calls or "find my iPhone" Tracking it will ask for the usual passcode/fingerprint used to access (and if not known the phone will remain a tracking beacon until battery runs out or said thief smashes iPhone).
My Question is:  Will Apple add this feature in a future iOS update?
    Regards
    LDM

I dont think your theory is making sense, who sells a phone without resetting back to factory default?  No passcode on reboot.  Battery Leak or worse you say? I think Apple has come up with some ingenius shortcuts to complete tasks, why not build in a protocol to allow passcode-less shutdown only after 5% battery life - Just a Theory (My point is the longer the phone is online the easier it will be to retrieve it).
Its not like the person can play Minion Rush until the battery dies.
Also, do you sell Jailbroken iPhones, cos I am not sure I understood "unsellable in the civilized world"? <
