Passcode required after 2.2 update

I just got my 2.2 update for the Droid Incredible.  I am now being prompted for a passcode to access a lot of settings and apps on my phone.  For example, just to access the phone settings, a keypad opens up with "Enter Passcode" at the top.  It says the initial passcode is 8888.  It does let me access the settings when I enter 8888, but I never had to do this before.  So far I have been prompted for the passcode to access gmail, internet (only the default browser, not Dolphin or Skyfire), settings, people, camera, messages, and maps.  I am sure I will find more.
Is this a new security feature of Froyo?  I have been unable to find any info on this online on in the phone.  What is frustrating is that there is no option to change the passcode or disable it.  The only thing I can find under the help button is to contact the developer at [email protected], which I just did.  In the meantime, has anyone else encountered this problem?  If it is a feature that came with one of my apps, then it must have activated with 2.2, since I have not installed any new apps for several days and it only just started after installing the 2.2 update this morning.

I guess I will reply to myself since I found the answer....
It was actually from a setting I forgot I changed in the App Lock app.  It was only requesting the passcode for those apps I had placed under protection.  I went into the settings and disabled the feature.  If I could have removed this post I would have but I guess once I post it is here to stay.

    Yes, see below
If Touch ID doesn't recognize your finger, you'll be asked to try again. After three attempts, you'll be given the option of entering your passcode. After two more tries, you will need to enter your passcode. In addition, you will need to enter your passcode to unlock your iPhone in these conditions:
    After restarting your iPhone 5s
When more than 48 hours have elapsed from the last time you unlocked your iPhone 5s
To enter the Touch ID & Passcode setting

  • Passcode required after last charge

I inadvertently let my battery run down all the way on my 2G iPod Touch. I plugged in the USB cable hooked up to my computer to let it charge. Next time I tried to use it it was asking for a passcode. I did not have a passcode set before the charge. I was running the latest version of iOS and iTunes 10.1.0.56. Any ideas why this happened or what the default passcode is? Thank you.

Thanks for trying to help. I tried 0000 and several others and have locked myself out numerous times. I tried my old pin that has been disabled for a while, but that didn't work either. I didn't think it would since it asks for the newer passcode that accepts letters. I was hoping to avoid that hassle of recovery mode, but I'm thinking that is my only choice. I have read that this has happened recently to a few others, not on this forum, so I thought I would try here for help first. Thanks again for chiming in.

  • After ios 8 update ipad2 is asking for a passcode

Posting for my wife, since she's given up and gone to bed.  Yes, I've read all the lovely information on what to do if you've forgotten your passcode.  Here's the problem; she's never used one.  Ever.  She was working on her ipad earlier this evening, updated, and is now locked out because she can't enter a passcode.  After repeatedly locking the thing up entering every conceivable 4-digit number either of us would have used had we used one (even tried 0000) we are now the proud owners of a very expensive paperweight.
A follow-up, as I already know what the first responses will be.  She does not have a backup as we've never figured out how to have iTunes allow one computer to be authorized for two accounts.  I assumed she was backing up to iCloud but apparently not.  What, if any, information would she be able to recover if she had to completely reset?  All of her business data is on the pad; contacts, appointment calender, the works.  Do contacts  and calender get saved to iCloud if you don't use it to backup the device?  If we can get that much at least she can start over, though I suspect it won't be on an iPad.  I wasn't aware she knew some of the words she was using on her way up the stairs.
Just to weed out a couple of other probable comments, she does not use Find my device, has never had to enter a passcode on her lockscreen (just a swipe) before, and installed the update over WiFi.  I have not updated any of my devices and won't be until I know what happened with hers, so I'm not sure what the process is or where a code might have been accidentally entered.  She swears she didn't enter any codes during the update, but I am of the "believe but verify" camp when computers are involved.
I have a pretty good idea the answer is going to be "You're SOL, reset or chuck it" but I hold onto a thin thread of hope.

At what stage is it asking for a passcode?
The reason I ask is that during the upgrade process, the upgrade will ask you for a passcode if you do not already have one set; you have to explicitly tell it not to add a passcode if you didn't have one set.
Is it possible that at that stage of the upgrade, your wife just entered four digits assuming it was asking her for a prior passcode, and now the device is using those digits as a passcode?

  • After Running the "Run Summarization" Required Filed is not updating in Software Updates

    hi all,
i am facing this issue in SCCM 2012 SP1.
I have sync the patches from WSUS successfully and it is showing. but the Required field is not updating (showing 0 for all updates) even after running the Run Summarization several times.
    Can anyone help?
    -Vasanth vignesh

As Jorgen said, the summarization makes no difference -- the summarization task simply takes the data already in the DB and makes it available for display in the console. Thus, you need to verify the the actual client compliance scanning process.
For the updates in question, are the clients showing as unknown compliance in the console?
Also, have you checked the reports? As mentioned, summarization is simply for the console. Info shown in the reports is straight from the DB and does not require summarization.

  • After installing iOS7 update  ipad sought passcode disabled restore dead! Now what?

After installing iOS7 update my ipad magically wanted a passcode to open.  I tried several of my usual passwords but none worked and it disabled for increasing lengths of time.  Eventually after reading up a bit about it I strated to restore it to factory settings but was interupted your this process and was unable to complete it fully (to be honest I'm not keen to do this anyway as I don't want to lose all my data - photos, and fail to see why I should simply becasue of a bug in iOS7).  Now my ipad is totally dead and will not respond to anything.  What can I do now?

It is still not working.  I have had Apple support on the phone twice as each time I get through the restore process it comes up with an unexplained error (3194) which they keep telling me is because I have a firewall preventing it from happening.  This is wrong because I have removed the firewall and it still comes up with the error message and will not restore.  I now have to take it to the guys I have had look at my computers from time to time to sort it out (presumabley at my cost).   If and or when it gets to the point to restore, yes I can restore from iCloud an should get all my data ok but I shouldn't really have to go through all this drama as the iPad is only very new and still under all of it's warranties etc Completely unimpressed with this whole thing.

Yes, you will need to restore your iPad.  This link will help restore from a lost passcode:

My iPhone 4s hasnt been used in over 6 months. Everytime I plug it into my computer and iTunes, it says it requires a restore and update. It then comes up with an error after completing the download for the restore and update (takes around 10 minutes).Someone help me as I'm using the original iPhone 3 at the moment and it won't even take an ios 7 update!

Just to confirm on the screen of the iPhone do you see the itunes symbol with a cable pointing up to it?. If you do then your iPhone is inrecovery mode and would require you to restore it.
Now first you want to make sure iTunes is up to date and the cable you are using is not damaged. You also want to make sure iTunes is up to date.
Now if you get an error message then follow the article below to find out what causes the issue:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3694
In terms of the iPhone 3G that is definitely not able to update to iOS 7. Only the iPhone 4 and larter can update to iOS 7.

There are no solutions other than restoring your iPad and you have to use the same instructions that you would for a forgotten passcode.
iOS: Forgotten passcode or device disabled after entering wrong ...
You are not the first person that I have seen report this same thing occurring when they updated to iOS 7 or higher. Why this happens, I can't answer, but I can tell you that unless something miraculous occurs, you will have to restore the device.
You may need to use Find My iPad or use Recovery Mode. Both are explained at the end of that kb article that I linked above.

  • How can I check my passcode I updated today and when I am going to reset all content and setting my iPhone 4S they asked me for passcode when I entered the passcode the one I just update too is doesn't want to accept it

how can I check my passcode I updated today and when I am going to reset all content and setting my iPhone 4S they asked me for passcode when I entered the passcode the one I just update too is doesn't want to accept it

I have had the same problem with iPad recently not too sure why it happened but if you are completing a full reset anyway the easiest way is the restore via itunes on your computer and then set up a new passcode again. Resetting via itunes doesnt require a passcode so it should go straight through.
    Hope this helps

  • After the last update(7.1.2) i couldn't find personal hotspot in my iPad 2.

after the last update(7.1.2) i couldn't find personal hotspot in my iPad 2 Wifi+Cellular. I did everything like reset network setting, restore to factory setting and set up as a new iPad but no change. My iPhone 5's carrier is 16.2 and after update to 7.1.2 it automatically ask me for carrier update but my iPad 2 ask nothing and the carrier is 16.1. Please, help me to solve this problem.

The Personal Hotspot feature is not available on the iPad 2. I have no idea how you could have been using it before as you claim. BTW, your screenshots do not show up.
    System requirements
The table below lists the iPhone and iPad (Wi-Fi + Cellular models) capable of Personal Hotspot and which connections they can use to share cellular data with another device:
    USB
    Bluetooth
    Wi-Fi
    iPhone 4 or later

    iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G*

iPad (3rd generation or later) Wi-Fi + Cellular

    iPad mini Wi-Fi + Cellular

    * On iPhone 3G, Personal Hotspot is referred to as Internet tethering.
To connect to a Personal Hotspot, your device requires:
    Wi-Fi: Support for 802.11g/n using WPA2 encryption.
USB: Mac or PC with iTunes 9.2 or later installed.
Bluetooth: Mac OS X v10.4.11 or Windows.

  • Windows 8.1 desktop refresh required after closing mstsc

In Windows 8.1 Pro with Update (64-bit), in desktop mode, after closing the mstsc app (click X in title bar) during an mstsc session to a Window 7 Ent SP1 workstation, the contents of the mstsc window remain displayed and a desktop refresh (right-click->refresh
on the desktop) is required to refresh the desktop to clear the stale content from the display. This does not happen when using mstsc to connect to a legacy Win XP Pro workstation.
Video adapter is an integrated Intel P4600/P4700 with latest drivers provided my Microsoft Update (v10.18.10.3621) in multi-monitor (3 monitors) mode. The mstsc is only active on one monitor.
    Anyone else seen this issue?

Monitor refresh rate (all 3 of them is set to 60hz). Only options on the primary display are 59 or 60Hz.
Setting the refresh rate to 59Hz produces same results. Setting back to 60Hz produces same results.
Sometimes part of the desktop on the monitor with the mstsc window needs to be refreshed, sometimes all of it under the mstsc windows needs to be refreshed, and sometimes, but rarely, the desktop never needs to be refreshed after closing mstsc to this specific
    target.
The mstsc session is not a full screen session and is opened as per:
    C:\Windows\System32\mstsc.exe "<path to rdp file>.rdp" /w:2560 /h:1530
    on a 30" display set for 2560x1600, 32bpp, 60Hz
To clarify, the specific issue manifests when I disconnect the session -- ie. clicking the X in the title bar, then clicking OK in the dialog "Your remote session will be disconnected". The "Your remote session will be disconnected" dialog
disappears (sometimes), and the mstsc windows title bar disappears but some or all of everything else that was inside the mstsc windows (from the remote system) remains displayed (even the mstsc bottom window border) until the desktop is refreshed.
I do note that if I set the mstsc session to full screen and then close/disconnect the session while it is in full screen, that the refresh required after disconnect issue does not manifest.
I am not sure if this is a functional issue in the mstsc client in Windows 8.1 (file version 6.3.9600.16384) or is more generally display/explorer specific. If the issue is broader, I am only noticing it with mstsc.
I've also updated to the latest Intel HD Graphics driver (rel: 2014-08-29) and no difference.

After the next updating of the browser to 13th version such problems have occured :
    1. At each start of Firefox constantly there comes a window of check of additions on compatibility, that on the previous versions was not observed.
    2. To the homepage at start the page has added (http://www.mozilla.org/ru/firefox/13.0/whatsnew/?oldversion=rv:12.0) or "Ура! У вас стоит последняя версия Firefox."Besides in options the page is not changed.

It is also possible that there is a problem with the file(s) that store the extensions registry.

If you are unable to enter the passcode into your device, you will have to restore the device to circumvent that passcode.
Is the music purchased from iTunes? If it is you can contact iTunes support and ask them to allow you to re-download the music that you purchased from iTunes.
Also, do you sync the device regularly? When syncing an iPod Touch/iPhone a backup file is made. That backup file doesn't contain your music but it does contain your address book, application data, pictures, notes, etc. After restoring your device, you can try restoring from the last backup that was made of your device so you will not have to start over completely from scratch.
    Hope this helps!
