Passcode screen

I've had my iPhone for one year now and NEVER set a passcode. I went to use it this AM and now it's asking for a 4-digit passcode? I tried 0-0-0-0 without success.
Any ideas?

I'll have to take a look to see how easy it would be to accidentally turn this on after I've reset my phone (I've never used it, as I said). My guess and hope would be it wouldn't be easy to do it accidentally, that you would have to enter a full code and then confirm that you want it set. If that's the case, then no, it wouldn't be possible that that happened.

HT1212 what do i do if my ipod touch 5th gen is stuck on the passcode screen and wont open even though my passcode is right. to this problem is very frustrating

my ipod touch 5 stuck on camera and wont turn on unless i hold the home button but then it goes to siri so i click the home button and it would have went to the passcode screen so i could enter my passcode and go on but earlyer it was dening my passcode so i went to camera .
this morning when i woke up it worked fine i could do everything fine then at about 8:09 am i plugged it in to my hp laptop to charge and then went to turn my i pod back on it wouldnt accept my passcode so i kept trying it but it kept denieing it even though my passcode is right.
I dont how this happened because i've never jailbroke it and all i did on it this morning was play 8ball pool by miniclip then i played clash of clans. so i want to know why this happened what happened and how it happened. as soon as possible thanks

- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Ipad 3 on 7.0.4 will not go past the passcode screen after bootup

hi all.i have ipad3 on 7.0.4 and it willl not go past the passcode screen after bootup without restarting This happens immediately after i press the fourth digit of my passcode (yes the correct code is used) It happily sits at the initial lockscreen working seemingly perfectly giving me the usual notification etc. but as soon as i swipe the screen, bringing up the numeric keypad and enter the four digit pin the screen goes black and then it begins its bootloop scenario all over again. i would dearly like to fix this WITHOUT needing to resort to taking a chance opn IOS 8 yet because it seems to me that it should be avoided at the moment until someone resolves more of the many big issues people are complaining of currently, and in their wisdom apple have chosen to stop signing any ios 7 restores recently so i cannot restore or upgrade within the realm of IOS 7 its IOS 8 (the farce continues) or nothing. Try a reboot press & hold power button & menu button hold both down until you see Apple Logo Then it may restart. Millions of people run ios 8 only a few having problems. Bsydd uk

Why does my passcode screen not display correctly, since ios7

I STILL hate ios7 -- doesn't make me dizzy, but sure does hurt my eyes. I find it MUCH hard to read the screens. Here's an example of what I sure think is a BUG, with this new display design -- my passcode screen is SUPPOSED to look like the one on the left (and it occasionally/rarely does), but it USUALLY looks like the one on the right. Keypresses are not in any way indicated -- you can't really tell what number you're hitting, and you can't see if you've accidentally hit it more than once, or how many you've entered.
Am I the only one experiencing this?

Okay, I figured out from other posts that, if I change from my background to an Apple-provided background, I don't have this problem.
So the next question is -- WHAT is required of a custom background (due to the overload of whiteness/brightness in ios7, it's REALLY important to me to have my background be all black, to provide the contrast I need to see things) for it to really work, in ios7? Why doesn't the all black background that I used, with no problem, in ios6, work anymore?

I'd like to do the same and I've seen this "solution" before, but I do not see Passcode under Settings > General. I see Auto-Lock, but changing those settings doesn't get rid of the Passcode screen either. Did it change with iOS7.1?

Just upgraded to ios7, and am hoping that I can change how the Passcode screen works. I LIKED the audio feedback (the click) that I used to get when I typed in a Passcode -- it is now gone, and I don't see a setting to restore it. I LIKED the "character count" that displayed at the top, showing HOW MANY of my passcode numbers I had typed in, and I don't see that now (though I DO see THAT in some screen shots of the passcode screen).
Are there SETTINGS for the Passcode screen, that I've not yet found, that might restore these options for me?

You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.
You can restore from a backup if you have one from BEFORE you set the restrictions passcode.

I have an older Ipad that won't come on to the passcode screen. It's just a black screen. What can I do with it?

I have an older Ipad that won't come on to the passcode screen. The screen is black like it is trying to come on, but it doesn't. I tried hooking it up to Itunes, but since it has a lock on it I can not get it to do anything. Is there anything that I can do with it at this point? I have tried doing the hard reboot, but nothing comes up on the screen. The one time that it did come on the colors were very distorted. TIA

the 'enter passcode' screen is blocking me from using my ipad. i didn't set it up, what happened and how can I disable it?

i use gmail on my iphone and ipad, but neither device has ever locked me out like what just happened with my ipad. i was just trying to access my apple id to setup icloud on apple.com when i was having difficultywith my primary email. so i attempted to change my id to the gmail acct, and now this happened. i don't know if there is any connection, but it is strange that it happened afterwards. if i restore from itunes, will i lose my ipad data?

"Enter Passcode" screen not showing the dots for key press

I've a passcode that is 6 characters long. When I slide to unlock my phone , the "Enter Passcode" screen comes up as normal, but sometimes when I try to enter my passcode in the white box, though the key press turns blue under my finger tips as normal but nothing (no black dots) is entered into the white box. Whenever this happens I'm not able to unlock my phone with the passcode and I've to power off and power on the phone to detect the passcode.
Not sure anyone else having the same problem as mine. If anyone encountered the same problem and know how to fix it, please help me.

I have two iPhone 4S both with iOs7 and simple passcode. One had the dots, the other didn't. I went through changing settings on the one without dots to match the settings to the one with dots one at a time until they came on.
For me the exact change was turning on the Auto Brightness setting.
Settings > Wallpapers and Brightness > Auto-Brightness
Perhaps it's the same bug for complex passcodes? Worth a try.

Running an Alarm app (now removed) when I noticed my phone alternating between a blank screen & my passcode screen. Powering off and the hard shutdown did not resolve problem. Plugged in headset, phone works normal. Remove headset problem returns.

iPhone 4 - - I was trying out the Alarm 4 free app. I set the alarm for 2 minutes into the future for a test. After one minute my phone naturally went to auto-lock and into sleep mode. At approximately the time the alarm should have activated I noticed my iPhone 4 alternating between a blank screen with the apple logo to the passcode screen. The passcode screen is only visible for a short moment so I am unable to attempt to input my passcode.
I tride a normal shutdown and the "hard" shutdown. The shutdowns work OK but when the phone comes back up it returns to the blank screen with apple logo & passcode screen loop.
The interesting part - - I plugged in a headset and the phone works normal! Unplug the headset and the phone returns to the "loop".
BTW - yes I did remove the Alarm 4 application!
I also turned off the auto-lock feature. With the auto-lock off the phone loops between the blank w/apple logo screen and my home/slide-to-unlock page.
So - - - as long as I leave the headset plugged in the phone works normal. If I remove the headset my phone reverts back to the "loop".
Any ideas?

There are a few different explanations throughout the Google-world. Some are better explained than others.
Bottomline - it worked!!!!
Be advised the Recovery Mode is truly a last ditch effort. In essence you will completely wipe your phone of everything and "recover" it to straight-out-of-the-box. Be warned!

My iPod touch is frozen on the 'enter passcode' screen and it wont lock or turn off. i have tried syncing it, charging it, and pressed the home button and off button so many times with nothing. i haven't dropped it ever and it hasn't been near water. I'm so worried about all my information on it will be lost.

Enter Passcode screen has appeared

All of a sudden this morning my iPod is asking for a password and I have not set one up! In the past I have used the passcode lock in the Settings menu but not for some time. The screen that has appeared now is a different one to the Passcode lock screen and entering the passcode that I used to use does not work. I've tried turning on and off but no joy. Any ideas?

If you have screen-lock passcode screen (you can have two, on for a simple passcode and the other where the keyboard one comes up), connect the iPod to its syncing computer and retore via iTunes. If iTunes asks for the passcode and you can't enter the passcode, place the iPod in recovery mode and restore via iTunes. For recovery mode see:

"enter passcode" screen is misaligned

hello everyone!
I got an iphone 6 64gb (iOS 8.1.2) five days ago. Today it started showing following problem (see pictures below)
As you can see the "enter passcode" screen is not aligned with the screen borders and you can see the wallpaper from behind.
This misalignment can happen on all the sides of the phone and it seems to be random.
This doesn't happen everytime though, it usually happens when I rotate the phone just before I slide to get to the "enter passcode" screen.
The problem disappears when i turn on the Reduce Motion option from Accessibility
I have tried to turn the phone off and on again but the problem remains.
Any ideas on what i should do next?

Need spacebar on passcode screen for ipad

My kid said he tried to reset his passcode on his iPad mini and all he entered was a space on the spacebar. So now he cannot use his iPad because of course there is no spacebar on the passcode screen. How can we fix this without resetting the iPad?

If he had switched to an alphanumeric passcode then the sign on would display the complete keyboard so I doubt that's what he did.
