Passing a PDF File through PI 7.1

Hi Experts ,
me at client place. Client PI team has raised a requirement to us , that is moving a PDF file from a folder in ftp to anoter folder using Pi 7.1 .
They havent clearly mentioned the process, but asked me to find out the feasibility.
They have given me a rough concept on terminologies like : Using Integrated scenerio - Advanced Adapter Engine , the file would be read as binary .
I dont have any idea in this area. Any one who can provide some link , support on this.

This can be achieved by Integrated configuration (AAE). You need not configure any objects in ESR as it doesn't involve any mapping. You just need to move the file from one location to another. Please do the following:
1. Configure Sender and Receiver FTP channels giving file name schema according to file format (may be *.pdf).
2. Create one Integrated configuration: Please refer to this link <http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/700058f0-b1a1-2a10-39a8-ab2627b87cfa?quicklink=index&overridelayout=true>
3. Here you can provide any name for Sender and receiver interfaces and namespace based on the nomenclature you follow. Select the corresponding channels and that's it.
4. If you want to keep the file name as same then, select Adapter specific identifiers and File Name in both Sender and Receiver channels.
Hope this would be enough for you to move the pdf.

Can you tell me where the pdf can be found. Through a webserver or inside the database or is the pdf somewhere else?
If the pdf is available through an url you could use web.show_document which can open the url/pdf document in a new browser window.
If the pdf is inside the database you could download the pdf to the client using webutil and then open the pdf document using a host command.
If the pdf is inside the database or by a url you can also use a forms bean. I've used forms bean bean to unload a pdf from the database and show it inside the forms application. Most important when using a forms bean is that the bean component can show all the fonts which are used inside the pdf. There are some free solutions which can not show i.e. bar codes. The are also some paid components which will do the trick.

You should be able to just place them in your Books library in iTunes and check to ensure that your Book library is configured to sync to your iPod when you sync your iPod to iTunes.

Merging PDF files through a script

Reader can do very few things besides being a reader. If you wanna merge PDF files, use a PDF merger.

NO, I'm not storing that file in Blob. i'm not storing it in database. i'm just transfering it from client location to server location . That's it.
But i'm storing both the path from where i picked the file and where i uploaded. That's client path in PT_FILE_PATH field and server path in PT_FILE_SERVER_PATH.
now i want to get that file from server location and show it only on Browser.. Not storing in database, justing putiing in folder at server location.

I had the same problem after making Adobe the reader for pdf. Fixed it by
1) removing the Adobe plug-in from the Internet Plug-Ins file in the Library.
2) restarting Safari.
Back to normal.

I can't seem to upload PDF files through Firefox 5.0

I have not been able to upload a PDF file through Firefox 5.0. This has occurred with two different websites. It appears from the error messages that the file is not being identified as a PDF file, but is labelled something else. DOCX files are uploaded appropriately, but I must use PDF also. Thanks.

I've been using DW CS4 since Dec. 2010 to design and upload the store site with no problems until this past week.
I update the site once a month, during the last couple of weeks I've used DW to design 2 new pages, but this past week when I went to upload the pages I noticed the remote view was different. The remote view did show the 2 new files, including pictures, but not all the other files that I normally see, including the index file.
Plus, there are folders I didn't see before, CGI, DropBox and about 6 others.
On the 2nd pg. of the main site, I put a link to past editions, the URL looks like this... http://www.landmarkantiques.com/July2011.html
I can't think of anything I might have done to cause the change, so I'm at a loss as to why and what might have caused it.
I have DW CS5 that I have not installed, and I'm a little worried about making that transition since this has happened.

Generating pdf file through jsp/servlet

One of the MIME types for servlets/JSP response is "application/pdf".
After setting Content-Type header "application/pdf" in servlet by
setContentType() method, I am unable to get the output in a pdf file.
Please let me know how I can generate a pdf file through Servelt/JSP
response.

We've got a product which allows you to convert XML to PDF from a JSP. It doesn't currently take straight HTML, but the XML syntax we use is pretty similar (you can use CSS2 and so on), so for many pages it doesn't take a lot of conversion.
If you check out http://big.faceless.org/products/report/examples.jsp you'll see a few examples, two of which are dynamically run from a JSP. There's a free trial download for you to test with (although it's a commercial product).

Adobe Reader 9.0 has delay when downloading PDF file through proxy server

There is an issue with the Adobe Reader (and Acrobat) 9.0 PDF Link Helper ActiveX control for Internet Explorer (6 or 7) on Windows computers with respect to proxy servers. Due to this issue, there is a 2 minute delay for any Internet Explorer web browser on the Deere network before any PDF file will open from the Internet within the IE web browser if In-Place activation (Display PDF in Browser) is enabled in Adobe Reader 9. This problem does not affect Adobe Reader 8.
What we are seeing is that when someone on the Deere network clicks on a links to a PDF file in the Internet, the PDF file downloads immediately. But then, after the PDF file is downloaded, the Adobe Reader 9 PDF Link Helper ActiveX control tries to talk directly to the Internet web site. The Adobe Reader 9 PDF Link Helper ActiveX control does not know how to negotiate our proxy server. So after a minute or two, the Adobe Reader 9 PDF Link Helper ActiveX control times out (gives up) and allows the IE browser to display the downloaded PDF file in the IE browser.
We work around this issue by disabling In Place Activation for PDF files in IE (uncheck Display PDF in Browser). But we would like a fix for the PDF Link Helper ActiveX control.

Here's what our proxy people see when they do a trace of a PDF file download through their proxy server with IE 7 and Adobe Reader 9 with Display PDF in Browser checked.
The browser tells the proxy to download the pdf, it does and sends it to the browser. Before the browser opens it something in Acrobat ( or I.E. ? ) tries to make a connection back to the content server that hosted the pdf. Unfortunately this agent does not ask the proxy to make the request for it, but rather asks local DNS to resolve the Internet server name. This request dies because our internal private network does not know anything about the Internet. Only the DNS used by the proxy can resolve Interent names. After two unsuccessful DNS queries into the private network, the agent tries to resolve the same Internet name with NBNS ( netbios name service) queries again into the private network, with the same results. These requests persists for more than two minutes ( over 200 unresolved queries ). Then for whatever reason the agent gives up and the already downloaded pdf file loads into the browser.

I have the same problem with some specific PDF files. For more than 90% it hangs when opening the file, but sometimes it works (with the same file).
The workflows where it sometimes worked:
a) Loading the PDF, the reader is started the first time and displays license dialog.
b) The reader was already runing and file is loaded with Drag&Drop or File/Open in the Reader
But most times it does not load.
I could not find out which file is missing or trying to be opened. So I tried with the CP949.TXT.
I found no CP949.TXT in Reader 8 installation, so I took it from the link, pasted into notepad and stored in the respective directory
C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 9.0\Resource\TypeSupport\Unicode\Mappings\win\
Now it seems to work fine, opening PDFs with double click from exporer.
But why did Adobe Reader 8 not have the TypeSupport directory at all?
Even when having found a fix (hack?), I think I did not understand the cause of this problem.

I have created a form which will generate pdf file by calling a report. I am able to generate pdf files in platforms like Win 2000,Win NT,Win 98. But expect in Win 2000, I am able to read the pdf file in acrobat.
The error displayed while opening pdf in acrobat is: There was a error processing this page,There was a problem to read this page (122).
Form6i and Reports6i is installed in Win 2000 and acrobat reader version is 5.0

Sorry Im totally new to acrobat so this may seem like a daft question> I have scanned a document through a document feed scanner into a pdf format but some of the pages are orientated the wrong way within the pdf, is there a way to change the direction of pages and then save the whole pdf again so that everything is the right way round. I know that you can change the orintation while reading the pdf but as this is being put into web ct for students I would prefer for them not to have to do this.

As per this blog ,, my processing sequence in communication channel is: custom adapter module (module created for converting xml to pdf file) -> CallSapAdapter (stores file with pdf extension to an ftp location). I had added audit logs in module and i am able to see them in RWB.
But file created at ftp location contains only name com.lowagie.text.Document6e42c8a3 & also i am not able to open it as PDF.
my last few lines of code are:

document.close();
String xmlpld = document.toString();
xpld.setText(xmlpld);
inputModuleData.setPrincipalData(msg);
