Passing a specific file to an applet...

Hi guys,
i've a question.
I've included a signed applet in my jsf application and my application
passes to it a file with
<param name="datfile" value ="file:///c:/eclipse/temp.txt">
and it works.
Now in my Eclipse i have lots of files and i didn't want passing applet
each time the same file. What i want now is passing the name of file
(temp.txt) (that is on the server) with a property stored in a bean.
How can i pass a bean property as value attribute of param tag?That is
suppose i've a bean file with property name,
i want to pass file.property +".txt" as file to applet.

Not sure whether I understand you... can't your applet just go and ask your server about which file to load, insetad of passing that input as a hard-coded parameter?

FM to reach specific file of a DIR in DMS

Hello DMS Experts,
I am searching for an FM to open a specific file of a DIR. Means this DIR has more than one file. I was trying with fm CVAPI_DOC_VIEW by inputting the DOKAR, DOKNR, DOKVR, DOKTL fields, which brings multiple file (of that DIR) pop-up to me. My requirement is to directly reach the specific file in the pop-up.
Foe example, the DIRs having single file, directly open the document with this FM. I need this in multiple file DIRs also. Obviously I need to pass one more parameter. I did not find any other such field in this FM. Also tried other CVAPI_ fms. I have filename and file_idx values to pass, which can distinguish the files. Though a field (PS_FILENAME) looked like this one in the above FM, it is not working.
Can anyone has some help?

It's hard to give more specifics without more detail, but in general you're going to need to read in the entire file, split it into three pieces (everything before the record of interest, the record itself, and everything after the record of interest), modify the record, reassemble the three pieces in proper order, and write the whole thing back to the file.Of course if the file is very large you might not want to actually implement it this way, but conceptually at least, this is what you are looking at.If this file some sort of proprietary format?Mike...PS: this type of issue is why I really like databases...

Weird open command stuck under menu bar for just one specific file

I'm having a weird problem where a little arrow in a small grey box sits under the menu bar, no matter which program is active. If I roll over it, an icon for a quicktime file shows. Clicking it open a specific file. It's one I had dragged to the desktop from the trash. If I click the icon, it opens the file from the trash. If I delete the trash, the little grey box and arrow stays there, pointing to the file in the trash even though it doesn't exist anymore. I cannot get rid of it!

The latest issue of Pages for iPad: 1. Very slow. 2. Late in reacting to typing. 3. When I go to a specific file, informs me that some images were deleted and therefore file has been changed. Then when OPEN option used, opens file slowly. Please, help!

What I have to do to correct the following problems with Pages app. For iPad:
Hesitates to display results of typing, some times for 5-6 characters;
Very slow in opening files;

I see you said You paid for shipping, did you Insure it? Claim insurance on it. If you did not, It may not be Verizon or your fault in the sense of the phone not making it to the warehouse. There are people out in the postal world that will steal phones that are not insured. It could have been a Verizon employee, i suppose.
But, if this was to be a bought in court, if you shipped it with out insurance, sadly your at fault.
Do you still have the Serial number of your old phone? If so, you should be able to track where your phone is (if it is reported as a defect/damaged) If so, you may be able to use that as proof. If it does not show up as a defect or what ever they determine use as a loss, then you know it did not make it to the warehouse to be checked in. I would suspect Apple or Verizon could tell you what the Serial number came up as.

How to delete a specific file type from a folder

I have folders with lots of zip or rar files, once I decompress those I want to delete the compressed files specifically. Is there any way I could manage that through Automator?

Thanks Niel for the script, unfortunately I am too ignorant about running these on my own, I did save it in my user script library, but I would need instructions to run it. I would be really grateful.
I did try making up my own workflow using the given actions in Automator, the first action was to 'find specific files in finder' ending with .zip and .rar and then choosing another action which 'moves selected files to trash'. Unfortunately it ended up running only if I specify the path to the specific .zip file, which defeats the purpose. Any suggestions on the proposed workflow? Thanks in advance.

Can I remove a SPECIFIC file from the "Recents" list?

     As far as I can see, Adobe Reader for Android has only the option of clearing ALL the files in the "Recents" list. It doesn't have the option of removing a specific file from the "Recents" list.
     Maybe I'm just missing the option I'm talking about or Adobe Reader doesn't really have that feature.
     Sensible answers to my question will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Cannot delete specific files.

I am unable to delete certain files, but I can delete others. Finder says "The operation cannot be completed because the item...is in use." I have tried:
*Alt+Empty Trash
*Secure delete
*Empty trash from the Terminal
*Repair permissions
*Verify disk
*Various utilities (Trash it!, OnyX, etc.)
*Restart
*Closed all applications
I have noticed that if I try to delete from the Terminal it says "rm: /Users/mymacrules/.Trash/Cannot Delete/nl.lproj: Directory not empty". I also tried to move one file that would not delete from the trash, this file disappears when I click on it, but is there after restart. As long as that specific file is on the desktop it also makes another folder disappear. Even though I can't see it in Finder I can see it with the "ls" command. Any ideas?

Right. The rm command by default will not delete nonempty directories. To force it to, use the recursive flag:
rm -r /Users/mymacrules/.Trash/Cannot Delete/nl.lproj
But keep in mind that I'm just a Unix person...people like Joshz who know MacOS better than me may know good reasons to not use the Terminal to try to empty the trash.

Is it possible to pickup a specific file from a folder?

I am wondering whether it is possible to pick a specific file from a folder. I have a shape where I have got a filename and I need to look for it in a folder.
Is that possible?
And how can I achieve this? The next step is to pick the file up and transfer it to another location. So basically in pseudo code I need to ask my defined folder with a filename as parameter. Get the file and move it to another folder.

Assuming you are using orchestration, you could
create an assembly, install it in the GAC, add a reference to it in your BTS
project, and call it from an Expression shape to resolve the receive
location. You would only really need one static method in a class. Be sure
to add a reference to Microsoft.BizTalk.ExplorerOM.dll.

Open a Specific browser from an applet

We can open a browser using appletContext().showDocument() Or even using Runtime.getRuntime().exec(rundll32,url.dll,FileProtocolHandler),
but how can i specify a specific browser in applet. I have an application which works only in IE.

You can't open a specific browser (if the applet is unsigned), and what's the problem with showDocument()?
The need for this is unclear to me.

How do I update a file in an Applet's JAR file from the Applet code

Here's my problem.
My applet is using a serializable history data in which I am storing in the applet's JAR file. When I run the applet, I read the file with "getResourceAsStream()" and run my program with that hist data. When my applet is closed, I need to update this file from my Applet's code and I dumfounded about how to do that.
Is there any way to update a file in the Applet's JAR file through the Java Applet code? (i.e. OutputStream?).
Would appreciate any advice people have.

Just place a copy of the file on the local hard disk and update that. When you start the Applet you try to read from the hard disk. If the file exists then no problem otherwise copy it from the jar to the hard disk.

Reading and writing to a text file from an Applet

I'm a novice java programming with very little formal programming training. I've pieced together enough knowledge to do what I've wanted to do so far...
However, I've been unable to figure out how to read and write to a text file from an Applet (I can do it from a normal java program just fine). Here is a simple example of what I'd like to do (you can also look at it on my website: www.stat.colostate.edu/~leach/test02/test02.html). I know that there is some problem with permission/security but I'm not smart enough to understand what the error messages are telling or understand the few books I have. If anyone can tell me how to get this applet to work, or direct me to some referrences that would help me out I'd really appreciate it.

I have almost the exact same problem, and I am in the same situation as you are with respects to the language.
I am simply trying to create a file and output some garbage to it but my applet always spits back a security violation. I've tried eliminating the restrictions on the applet runner I use but I still get the error.

Hi srabon,
For giving unique access for a specific file in a library, you can go to the library, and select the file , and click FILES->Shared With->ADVANCED, under PERMISSION ribbon, click ‘Stop Inheriting Permissions’, then the file will have unique permissions.
For removing the shared users for a file, firstly, like the above steps, select the file , and click FILES->Shared With->ADVANCED , make sure the file has unique access, then select the users that you want to remove, and click Remove User Persmissions
under PERMISSIONS ribbon.

How to execute an SSIS package on a scheduled basis from remote server and pass in input files

I have an application server and a db server. My db server has all things SQL Server stored on it (DBMS, SSRS, SSIS, etc.) I have several nightly batch process SSIS packages (dtsx files currently) that will pickup an input file and import them
into the database. I would like to execute all batch processes from my application server as I have quite a few other ones as well that do other stuff outside of SQL Server via powershell. My question is how to do this? Is there away to execute
them remotely via DTexec.exe, should I set them up as Agent jobs and somehow pass in the file names\location (how?), create and SSIS catalog, etc.?
I need to easily be able to see if the packages execute successfully or not and if not capture the detailed information of why they failed from the remote server so I can use that to drive my process flow logic in the batch processes.

According to your description, you want to execute a package on a schedule and receive notification when package ends with error in the job.
After testing the issue in my environment, we can directly add the package in a step of a job, then add a schedule and set the Alert and Notification property in the job to achieve your requirement. For more details, please see:
Create a Database Mail in the SSMS.
Right-click the SQL Server Agent services to Enable mail profile, then select the appropriate Mail profile.
Under the Operators folder, create an operator with the correct E-mail name.
Right-click the Jobs folder to add a new job.
In the Steps pane, New a step with SQL Server Integration Services Package Type to run the package.
In the Schedules pane, New a schedule for the job.
In the Alerts pane, New an alert with SQL Server event alert, then enable Notify operators option with an operator in the Response pane.
In the Notifications pane, enable Email option with same operator and When the job fails selection.
Then when the package fails, the job would be failed and we can receive the error message in the mailbox.
Besides, please make sure the account that execute the job has correct permissions for the file, for the folder that contains the file, and for the database.
