Passing iphone to someone else.. please respond asap

I have an iphone, bought it opening date. Today I'm planning on buying a new iphone for myself at a local apple store. If I swap the sim cards (placing my old activated sim card into the NEW iphone), will I be able to make calls then and there with it?
With my old iphone containing the NEW sim card which came with the newly purchased iphone, can the friend I am giving it to activate his iphone with no problem?
thanks

No. You will need to reactivate it in iTunes before you can make calls.

Yes.

  • IPod nano problems! PLEASE RESPOND ASAP!!

    HELP!
    A couple days ago I had to re-format the computer due to a virus. I didn't save any of the songs that were on iTunes. That night I listened to some songs on my iPod. The next day I plugged it in my computer for it to charge. When it was done charging, I went to listen to some songs but there were NO SONGS ON IT!! I have no clue what happened... has this happened to anyone? Does anyone know how to fix it? Please respond ASAP!
    Thanks,

    Hi Molly,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions
    Copying songs from your iPod to your computer
    "The iTunes library on your computer holds all the songs you've encoded from your CD collection or purchased from the iTunes Music Store. With default settings, iTunes automatically copies the songs in your library to your iPod. When you use your iPod as a hard disk, you can't see the songs iTunes copies to your iPod in the Finder or My Computer. This is normal. Using the Finder or My Computer, you can't copy these song files from your iPod back to iTunes or to any other computer. The synchronization between your iPod and your computer is always one way: from iTunes to iPod.
    If you've erased the music library on your computer, there's no way to use the Finder or My Computer to copy the songs from your iPod to reconstitute the library on your computer. One solution is to encode the songs from your CD collection again, then sync your new library with iPod. If you purchased songs from the iTunes Music Store and didn't back them up, there's no way to download them again. You'll have to buy new copies of the songs."
    Taken from Using your iPod as a hard disk
    So even if there were any tracks on your iPod, Apple has set it so you shouldn't be able to get them back.
    You need to reload iTunes with music, and then get into the habit of backing them up as well. Once you've done that you can start loading onto the nano.
    To help with backing up your music this link will explain what the files are:
    What are the iTunes library files?

  • Giving iPhone to someone else --Help!

    I am giving someone my original iPhone 2G. I already went to Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Contents and Settings.
    What other steps, if any, should I take to ensure that the new owner has a smooth transition and also NONE of my previous information? Is it okay to keep the SIM card in or should I give it to them without it?
    Thanks!

    The Erase All Contents and Settings option with the iPhone is a secure erase - you don't need to do anything else.
    If the person you are giving your iPhone to plans on activating the iPhone with AT&T, you should remove the SIM card since the recipient will need to get a new SIM card from an AT&T corporate store to activate the iPhone with AT&T via the iTunes activation process.
    If the recipient does not plan on activating the iPhone with AT&T and will use the iPhone as an iPod Touch, the no longer activated SIM card needs to remain inserted in the iPhone in order to install a firmware update, or to restore the iPhone with iTunes if needed or wanted.

  • My phone keeps sending Imessages to someone without an Iphone, and someone else is receiving them through imessage and replying.

    If my 3g or Wifi is off my phone will text the correct number, my friend's samsung phone, however whenever my 3g or wifi is on, my phone sends my texts to my friend as imessages that do not go to his phone - they go to another persons device as an imessage...can someone help this is really frusterating.
    No one in his house has anything assosciated to an iphone, ipad etc...

    I just had this problem. I found this solution on a discussion board and it seems to have fixed the issue:
    "So I finally realized (by accident) that you can tap on the text message you just sent, (the blue bubble imessage) and it'll ask "copy" or "send as sms"...and I chose send as sms.
    After doing this about 5-6 times, it stopped automatically sending him imessages and started automatically sending him SMS messages instead!"

  • Error B839FBD8 on officejet 6600 can not get pass this can someone help please

    Hi i got a Hp officejet 6600 when i turn it on it start to load when it goes to ERROE B839FBD8
    can someone help me thank you Robert

    Hi @Robert21,
    Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I see when you power up your HP Officejet 6600 you get an error message on the front panel 'B839FBD8'.
    First I would like you to perform a hard reset on the printer:
    1. Unplug all cables and memory cards from the printer. Unplug the power cord, directly from the back of the printer while the printer is still turned on.
    2. Unplug the other end of the cord from the power source.
    3. If there is a power module on the power cord, disconnect one end and reconnect it.
    4. After 60 seconds, plug the cord directly into a wall outlet (not a surge protector or battery backup as they can cause the printer to lose basic functionality over time).
    5. Plug the power cord into the back of the printer.
    6. The printer should automatically power back up. If it doesn't, turn it on with the power button.
    7. Try making a photocopy (if your printer is an all-in-on printer) before connecting any other cables to the printer.
    8. Connect any other needed cables to the printer.
    Are you still seeing the error message? If yes, please call our technical support at 800-474-6836 as it may be the printers hardware. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get the support number for your region.

  • NEED HELP WITH USING STATIC METHOD - PLEASE RESPOND ASAP!

    I am trying to set a value on a class using a static method. I have defined a servlet attribute (let's call it myAttribute) on my webserver. I have a serlvet (let's call it myServlet) that has an init() method. I have modified this init() method to retrieve the attribute value (myAttribute). I need to make this attribute value accessible in another class (let's call it myOtherClass), so my question revolves around not knowing how to set this attribute value on my other class using a static method (let's call it setMyStuff()). I want to be able to make a call to the static method setMyStuff() with the value of my servlet attribute. I dont know enough about static member variables and methods. I need to know what to do in my init() method. I need to know what else I need to do in myServlet and also what all I need in the other class as well. I feel like a lot of my problems revolve around not knowing the proper syntax as well.
    Please reply soon!!! Thanks in advance.

    class a
    private static String aa = "";
    public static setVar (String var)
    aa = var;
    class b
    public void init()
    a.aa = "try";
    public static void main(String b[])
    b myB = new b ();
    b.init();
    hope this help;

  • Why is Find My iPhone finding someone else's iPhone?

    Hi all - I just purchased an iPhone 5s (my first iPhone!) and have been exploring my apps and trying to become familiar with the new device. I was looking on Find My iPhone and noticed another iPhone connected to my account at an address around 30 miles away. I don't know anyone who lives in this location and I am concerned that someone might have access to my Apple ID. Is this a valid assumption/does anyone know what could be happening?
    I should mention that I had to return my original 5s to the Apple store last week and got it replaced with a new one due to some issues I was having. At that point I erased everything off the phone. I am wondering if maybe that phone is somehow still connected? I really have no idea.
    I am considering going to the Apple store tomorrow to talk to someone, but I just wanted to check here first.
    Thanks in advance for your help!

    Sounds like it could be potentially a refurb...I dont think an Apple ID can be wiped from the device so this could be the case...
    I would speak with Apple Support or someone in store to discuss your concern.
    Also if in doubt change your password..

  • What do I need to do before giving an old iPhone to someone else?

    I recently upgraded my IPhone from the 3GS to 5.  I have a friend that is interested in using my old phone as an IPod only.  I am assuming I have to remove the sim card so it won't function as a phone.  Is that correct?  Then erase all my content and settings.  My question is, if I erase all my content and settings, how do I keep it from deleting the same stuff on my new phone and mac items that are connected to ICloud.  Will simply turning ICloud off on the old phone take care of this?
    - Paul Goodman

    Yes. Turning off iCloud does not delete the contents stored in the 'cloud' - just the local copy on the device.
    See here about using an old iPhone as an iPod touch: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3406

    There is nothing we can do, you will have to get a hold of the seller.
