Passing Objects in Web Services..

I need to pass an object that I create back to the client calling the web service. I am using the SJSE wizard to create the web service. When I go to supply an input parm/attribute using the wizard, the only options are primitives and String. I need to be able to pass my own object back and forth. Is there a good example of this out there.. using SJSE.
I know it can be done with AXIS outside of SJSE. I'm wanting an easier way.
J

One solution could be to use axis with ide:
http://www.netbeans.org/servlets/ReadMsg?list=nbusers&msgNo=55589
http://forum.sun.com/jive/thread.jspa?forumID=122&threadID=96801
http://coding.mu/archives/2005/08/26/using-apache-axis-in-netbeans-50/
Or you could create a HashSet of objects that are accessible via string keys...

  • Could not generate stub objects for web service invocation in ColdFusion

    I was able to call the services on the development box - windows server without any problem at all, everything was working fine but the moment i uploaded to a linux box production server I get this error. "Could not generate stub objects for web service invocation in ColdFusion"
    What could be the cause of this problem, i have googled a lot but no solution yet any ideas.

    Let me make it simple:
    1. Server A is our development server.- hosted inhouse with coldfusion installed.
    2. Server B is our production server - a linux server with coldfusion installed hosted on the internet
    3. Server C is a third party server containing the webservice - this is a windows server with .net
    coldfusion is installed on Server A, the code works here and can connect to server C without any problem. It gets the required respone
    but when the code was uploaded to server c it gives the error when we run it.
    now i tried just a simple code which works fine on server A below:
    <cfinvoke webservice="http://www.webservicex.net/CurrencyConvertor.asmx?WSDL" method="ConversionRate" returnvariable="ConversionRateResult">
        <cfinvokeargument name="FromCurrency" value="EUR" />
        <cfinvokeargument name="ToCurrency" value="USD" />
    </cfinvoke>
    <cfdump var="#ConversionRateResult#" />
    But when i uploaded it to server C: it returns the error
    Cannot generate stub objects for web service invocation.
    Name: http://www.webservicex.net/CurrencyConvertor.asmx?WSDL. WSDL: http://www.webservicex.net/CurrencyConvertor.asmx?WSDL. java.io.FileNotFoundException: /opt/coldfusion8/stubs/WS728929035/NET/webserviceX/www/Currency.java (No such file or directory) It is recommended that you use a web browser to retrieve and examine the requested WSDL document to ensure it is correct. If the requested WSDL document cannot be retrieved or is dynamically generated, it is likely that the target web service has programming errors.
    The error occurred in /home/works/public_html/currency.cfm: line 7
    5 :     <cfinvokeargument name="FromCurrency" value="EUR" />
    6 :
    7 :     <cfinvokeargument name="ToCurrency" value="USD" />
    8 :
    9 : </cfinvoke>
    Now if you try the preceeding code on a windows environment  it works fine but the moment you put in the in the linux environment it generates this error
    I feel that the error may actually be :
    java.io.FileNotFoundException: /opt/coldfusion8/stubs/WS728929035/NET/webserviceX/www/Currency.java (No such file or directory)
    but i am clueless as to what to do next
    Ok so I tried the wget command on the linux
    this is what i got
    -bash-3.2# wget http://www.webservicesx.net/CurrencyConvertor.asmx?WDSL

  • How to pass xml in Web Services

    Hi,
    Can some one suggest which is the best way to send xml in web services.
    It can be sent as string (CDATA) or attachements.
    Is there any other way, may be as some object??
    I would appreciate if someone can help me on this.
    Thanks & Regards,

    Hi, Eric,
    Thank you for your quick reply.
    The web service I am trying to develop is basically a generic Data Access Component to bridge between SQL server and a desktop .Net application. The application will have about 3000 users from WAN, therefore we want to have a server side component to handle connection pooling etc. Because of limitation of current servers, we are asked to develop a Java Web Service, instead of MS WS.
    To make the component more reusable, I am thinking to have methods like this in the service:
    RunQueryReturnRS(String Sql, WebRowSet, rs)
    RunQueryReturnInt(String Sql, int NumRecdImpacted)
    RunStoredProcedureReturnRS(….)
    RunStoredProcedureReturnInt(….)
    ……
    You see, I would like to get whole resultset back to client, including both metadata and data in a format of generic resultset. When I paged through the Sun’s document, finding WebRowSet is claimed to be seariable, and ready for Web Service. I thought if I can use WebRowSet that will save me time to write new classes to hold resultset info and pass back to client.
    Could you please tell me if it is a feasible approach?
    Thank you.

  • Problem in inserting record in Siebel on demand's object thru web service

    Hi All,
    We are working on ‘Siebel on Demand’ (software as a service) CRM. We are using web service to communicate. We have WSDL files and we generated the code using Axis framework that comes along with Eclipse.
    We are able to login and logoff to the CRM through web service. Now we are trying to insert new object data into existing objects. We are currently trying with Lead object, but when we are trying to insert a record through web service the record gets inserted but the API throws following exception at the end:-
    SEVERE: Exception:
    org.xml.sax.SAXException: SimpleDeserializer encountered a child element, which is NOT expected, in something it was trying to deserialize.
    Since this is generated code by Axis, I think we need to do some fine tuning in it to handle this exception. If you are a web service expert or has worked on web service client code, your help is really appreciated. How could we handle this exception at our end?
    If you have any alternative way, please feel free to suggest me. Your inputs would certainly be of great value to us!
    Thanks

  • Intermittent Could not generate stub objects for web service invocation errors

    Hi,
    I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction...We are running Coldfusion 8 and keep getting the stub objects errors intermittently.  The web service will work for a while then it will just stop working for while, then it will start back working again.  There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it, and we're not doing anything to the server in the meantime.  I don't even know how to begin to diagnose the problem.  Has anyone ever seen this or have any ideas of some things we can check?
    Thanks!
    Holli

    It's a load-balanced environment and we've turned the bad server off for now.  Also, I was wrong.  We're running CF7. I'm getting my environments mixed up. Sorry about that. You can still get to the service on the good server though. This is the link: http://www.asthmaagents.com/services/init.cfc?WSDL  After I posted this, we were able to get a little more info.  When I went directly to the service using that link, we got this error message off and on when we would refresh the browser:

  • Parameter passing for custom web service reports

    <p>Hi,</p><p>I created a report file and published it as a .Net web service. I was able to set the web service to a report viewer in my windows application. I am using Crystal Reports Version 11 R2 and Visual Studio 2005 for my development.</p><font size="2" color="#008080">ReportWebService</font><font size="2"> service = </font><font size="2" color="#0000ff">new</font><font size="2"> </font><font size="2" color="#008080">ReportWebService</font><font size="2">(); </font><font size="2"><p>crystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = service;</p></font><p>Now, my question is how do I pass a parameter from the windows application to the custom report web service. It does not seem to accept any paramters through constructors or other custom web methods.</p><p>If I need to change my design or approach, I am welcome to that as long as I am able to host the report file on a central location. The .rpt file (exposed by the web service) does not have any parameters but the data population logic inside the web service might be based on some conditions which I need to pass as parameter.</p><p>Thanks in advance.Regards, Gulzar</p>

    <p>When using a Report Web Service, you must use the Viewer&#39;s SDK to interact with the report. So in your case, if you want to pass parameters to the report, the viewer exposes a ParameterFieldInfo property that you can set. You can download samples on how to do this or check out the <a href="http://devlibrary.businessobjects.com/BusinessObjectsXIR2SP2/en/devsuite.htm" target="_blank">DevLibrary</a> for more details.</p><p>However, one of your last statements you said your report does not have any parameters but your web service does.....could you elaborate on that?  Did you modify the .asmx that is autogenerated to add/modify the web service methods?  If so, then you will not be able to pass parameters to the new/modified web service.  The autogenerated web service for the report cannot be modified in this way since the viewer is designed to use the web services methods as-is.   In other words, the viewer is the only client/consumer of the Report Web Service so any interaction you want with the report must be done through the viewer, if the viewer exposes the functionality.  </p><p>In general, because the viewer is the only supported consumer of the Report Web Service, there are many limitations to interacting with the report.  Depending on how much control you want over the report at runtime, you may not want to use Report Web Services.  If you want to centralize reports for a Windows application, your best option is to load the reports from a network share using a UNC path when loading the report.  Of course, this assumes your application is running from some kind of internal network.  Any other kind of solution to centralized reports would require a web-based solution.</p><p>If you must use a Windows application, then you could host a IE control on your form that accesses a web page that displays reports but then you would have to develop and support a web application in addition to your windows application.  It&#39;s not the best solution but it&#39;s an option!  :-)</p><p>-MJ</p>

  • Passing table to web service - using javascript

    Hi All,
    I need to pass table structure to web service using data connection.
    I dont know how to accesss the request node and create table and pass data to it.
    Request you all to help me to achievev this functionality.
    A long needs to split of 50 characters each. Then create a new instance for request node table structure assign the values.
    All this needs to be done using CODE i.e javasript
    how to do this ???
    Regards,
    Aditya Deshpande

    HIi,
    Let me explain the scenario once more:
    Scenario:
    Pdf has two Text edit field and one button. Where the end user would enter the values.
    The PDF is integrated with Web service for Offline scneario.
    Field 1 is a notification number.
    Field 2 is description - unlimited entry into PDF.
    Button: is used to execute the web service.
    It is done using the blog:
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs;jsessionid=(J2EE3417700)ID0394564950DB01118597046218481719End?blog=/pub/wlg/7588
    Field1 is mapped to corresponding field in web service by IMPORT/EXPORT bindings.
    Problem:
    Field 2 is a text field. But this data has to be passed to web service as table. The web service has a table structure.
    Hence the text in the Field 2 has to be split into 100 characters each and set into table rows.
    The Strucutre definition in the data connection is:
    - Item
            - TDFORMAT
            - TDLINE
    Since I need to split the text and load.I felt this needs to be done using code ( script ).
    I do NOT know how to do it using CODE. Please help ME!!!!!!!!
    If there any other way please let me know. I am also not sure which would be best way of doing it.
    PLEASE HELP ME!!!

  • Exposing Business Object as Web Service

    Hi,
    I've designed a Business Object and would like to expose its findAll Operation as a web service. The wizard tells that the operation has “Improper operation message cardinality". While browsing through saphelp I found this: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce10/helpdata/en/44/24128b347c1c9fe10000000a11466f/content.htm
    That’s nice to know but doesn't solve my problem. How do I create a web service that returns ALL objects?
    Thanks in advance for your help.
    Bastian
    edit:
    this on solved it:
    CE/CAF: Expose service as Webservice

    Hi,
    you need to create wrapper method of findAll,
    The reason you are not able to expose it as service because findAll resturning array of values instead of one response (or candinality of return is 0..n). So create one wrapper complex type add your BO as datatype of that complex type with multiple cardinality,
    In new method add this complex type as response (with cardinality 0..1) and within code call standard findAll and mapp return value to complext type.
    It will work.

    Thanks
    Jeyakumar Raman.

    I guess, this is because the RI client is not finding the
    codec to ser/deser your Value Object. You need to register
    the codec in the type mapping registry before you invoke
    the web service method.
    Here is a sample:
    Service service = factory.createService( serviceName );
    TypeMappingRegistry registry = service.getTypeMappingRegistry();
    TypeMapping mapping = registry.getTypeMapping(
    SOAPConstants.URI_NS_SOAP_ENCODING );
    mapping.register( SOAPStruct.class,
    new QName( "http://soapinterop.org/xsd", "SOAPStruct" ),
    new SOAPStructCodec(),
    new SOAPStructCodec() );
    BTW, you can do the same exact thing on the client by using
    WLS impl of JAX-RPC. Is there a reason for using RI on the
    client side?

  • Return List of object from web service

    Hi to all.
    I have a java class which returns an array of ojects (custom objects).
    With jdeveloper tool i would like to create a ws around my class, but i receive this message:
    Method getUsers: The following JavaBean parameters have property descriptors using types that do not have an XML Schema mapping and/or serializer specified:
    Code is the following:
    public class GETUSERS
      //Costruttore di default
      public GETUSERS(){}
      public UserProfile[] getUsers(String LastName,String Name)
        CallableStatement proc = null;
        ResultSet rs = null;
        UserProfile users[]  = null;
        int cont=0;
        try
          Connessione connessione = new Connessione();
          Connection conn = connessione.getJNDIConnection();
          if (conn != null )
          proc = conn.prepareCall("{call procedure(?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?) }");
          //Cursore di output
          proc.registerOutParameter(1, oracle.jdbc.OracleTypes.CURSOR);
          proc.setInt(2,1);
          proc.setInt(3,100);
          proc.setString(4,null);
          proc.setString(5,LastName);
          proc.setString(6,Name);
          proc.setString(7,null);
          proc.setString(8,null);
          proc.setString(9,null);
          proc.setString(10,"n");
          proc.setString(11,null);
          proc.setString(12,null);
           proc.executeQuery();
           rs = (ResultSet)proc.getObject(1);
          rs.last();
          users= new UserProfile[rs.getRow()];
          rs.beforeFirst();
          while (rs.next())
           users[cont].setUID(rs.getString(1));
           users[cont].setName(rs.getString(2));
            cont++;
          rs.close();
          proc.close();
        catch(Exception ex)
        System.out.println(ex.getMessage());
        return users;
    }Any idea?
    Thanks

    Can you show the UserProfile.java ? That may have some variables, which are not supported in web services.

  • Extracting Array of objects from web service

    After a couple days of head banging I now have a webservice
    call executing and I am trying to extract / create a class from the
    ResultEvent:
    If the xml returned from the web service is:
    <people>
    <person name="Mike" />
    <person name="Dave" />
    </people>
    and the class is:
    class Person
    public var Name:String;
    The result event is:
    private function doResults(result:ResultEvent):void
    // how do I create an array of Person objects from result, I
    would also like to know how to create a typed array something like
    class PersonList if possible. I just need the raw how to loop the
    result and set the values on the class
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Well I wound up with just trial and error until I got it
    working, Im sure this will be improved as I go, but it's enough to
    press on with the app for now, this code is in the result function
    and result is the ResultEvent wich appears to be an array of
    generic objects representing the objects returned by the service.
    This in no way uses FDS and is talking to a simple dotnet / asp.net
    web service.
    // here app is a singleton class for app level data it is
    bindable and is used to update the view which in this example is
    bound to a public var MyObjects which in this case is an
    ArrayCollection, I unbox to MyObject in a custom view control
    for (var s:String in result.result)
    m = new MyObject();
    m.ID = result.result[s].ID;
    m.Name = result.result[s].Name;
    m.Type = result.result[s].Type;
    app.MyObjects.addItem(m);
    It also appears that you should create the WebService one
    time, and store refrences to the methods during app startup, the
    methods are called Operations and it appears you set the result and
    fault events then call send on the operation to get the data.
    // store this in a singleton app class
    var ws:WebService = new WebService();
    ws.wsdl = "
    http://dev.domain.com/WebService.asmx?WSDL";
    ws.addEventListener("result",doResults);
    ws.addEventListener("fault",doFault);
    ws.loadWSDL();
    // this is the operation which is also stored in the
    singleton app class
    var op:AbstractOperation = ws.getOperation("GetModules");
    // elsewere in the app we get the operation refrence setup
    result and fault and call send, then copy the generic object into
    our cutom classes using the first chunk of code above
    op.addEventListener("result",doResults);
    op.addEventListener("fault",doFault);
    op.send();
    I thought I would post this as I could find no such example
    in the offline or online docs, If anyone has a better way or see's
    a problem please post.
    I hope helps others with non FDS service calls and I look
    forward to hearing comments.
    Thanks,
    Mike

  • Return arrary of objects from web service

    Hello ALL,
    This problem has stumped me for several days.
    I have a web service and a jsp client. the jsp client call the web service. the web service function return an array of object of DataBaseRecord type. I use XFire + MyEclipse + Tomcat to develop this project in a Linux box.
    the web service WelcomeYou is defined as follows
    {noformat}public List<DataBaseRecord> WelcomeYou(String ExampleDoc)
       List<DataBaseRecord> RetrievalResult = new ArrayList<DataBaseRecord>();
      //  Search relevant documents according to 'ExampleDoc' from a database
      //  The search result will be put into a RecordSet object 'rs'
       while(rs.next())
                  DataBaseRecord  NewRecord = new DataBaseRecord ();
                  NewRecord.RetrievedDocID = rs.getString("RetrievalDocID");
                  NewRecord.SimiScore =  Float.valueof(rs.getString("SimiScore"));
                  RetrievalResult.add(NewRecord );
    // I use the following for loop to see the content of RetrievalResult. I can see that the content is just what I expect. Additionally, the size of RetrievalResult is correct too.
    for(DataBaseRecord   databaserecord : RetrievalResult)
         System.out.println(databaserecord.RetrievedDocID + databaserecord.SimiScore);
      return RetrievalResult;{noformat}in a jsp file, the web service WelcomeYou is called
    {noformat}List<DataBaseRecord>  Result = new List<DataBaseRecord>();
    Result = srvc.WelcomeYou("some text ");
    // I use the following for loop to see the contentof Result, but each element of Result is empty. Moreover, the strange thing is that the size of Result is right.
    for(DataBaseRecord   databaserecord : Result)
         System.out.println(databaserecord.RetrievedDocID + databaserecord.SimiScore);
    {noformat}the class DataBaseRecord is defined as follows
    {noformat}public class DataBaseRecord{
        public String RetrievedDocID;
        public float SimiScore;
    {noformat}At the very end of the service function body(just before ' return RetrievalResult;'), i check the content of RetrievalResult using a for loop, it is correct.
    At the jsp file, immediately after the statement
    {noformat}   Result = srvc.WelcomeYou("some text ");
    {noformat}
    {code}
    , i check the content of Result using a for loop, it is incorrect except for the size of Result .
    I wonder where I am wrong in the above code.

    Can you show the UserProfile.java ? That may have some variables, which are not supported in web services.
