Passing on iPad..90 day wait?
I want to give my son my old iPad but he uses a differnt apple ID account. I wanted to remove the old iPad from my account and switch it to his current account but there is a 90 day time for removing devices? Will he have to wait 90 days to use the iPad?
Once a device or computer is associated with your Apple ID, you cannot associate that device or computer with another Apple ID for 90 days.

I recently bought a like new MacBook Pro Retina that only had 16 battery cycles. It was sold to the person I bought it from in March 2013. he sent me the original receipt from the Apple store also.I contacted Apple and they helped me set up a new Apple Admin. account under my name and password. I purchased the extended Applecare under my name for this computer. All is ok there. It is running Mountain Lion 10.8.5 OS and it allowed me to do iPhoto update today.
I authorized the computer under iTunes and next to it said 83 days before I could use my Apple ID? I unauthorized the computers on my iTunes account for the three under them to clear them off. I reauthorized the MacBook Pro and it seems ok on the MacBook Pro. I went on my Windows laptop and the MacBook Pro was there with the 83 days wait again. So I took it off. Do I have to wait 83 days to use my Apple ID on this computer? I backed up my two iPads on iTunes today and that was fine as it showed them under devices. I am confused.

When you turn on iTunes Match or Automatic Downloads, or when you download past purchases on an iOS device or computer, that device or computer becomes associated with your Apple ID. This article describes how to manage these associations.
Your Apple ID can have up to 10 devices and computers (combined) associated with it. Each computer must also be authorized using the same Apple ID. Once a device or computer is associated with your Apple ID, you cannot associate that device or computer with another Apple ID for 90 days. You can view which devices or computers are currently associated, remove unused devices or computers, and see how long before they can be associated with a different Apple ID from the Account Information page in iTunes on your computer:
Open iTunes.
Sign in to your Apple ID by choosing Store > Sign In from the iTunes menu.
Choose Store > View My Account from the iTunes menu.
From the Account Information screen, click Manage Devices.
Next to each device or computer name, you will be able to see when each was associated to your Apple ID. You will also be able to track how many days are remaining before your associated devices or computers can be associated to a different Apple ID.
Removing an associated device or computer from an Apple ID
To remove a device or computer from your Apple ID:
Open iTunes.
Sign in to your Apple ID by choosing Store > Sign In from the iTunes menu.
Choose Store > View My Account from the iTunes menu.
From the Account Information screen, click Manage Devices.
Click the Remove button next to the device name you would like to unassociate.
Note: Removing a device from your Apple ID does not override the 90 day timer. The timer must complete 90 days from the day the device was associated before it can be associated to another Apple ID. -
New iPad in Canada - "Waiting for Activation"
Hi all,
Purchased a new iPad to day WiFi and 3G
Since I have a Rogers iPhone 4, I opted for a Bell micro-sim for the iPad. However, after downloading the carrier settings update and rebooting with 3.2.2, all I ever see is "Waiting for Activation. This may take some time". Been about 15 minutes as I write this.
Also, in the top left, all I see is No Service.
I know absolutely that I should have full bars from Bell in this location.
Is it normal to see No Service while "Waiting for Activation"? How long should this take on a Sunday??

StuI found the same message although I am with Telus. I tried to activate the SIM card online but I couldn't get it to work. I finally called Telus and they did it there (they did not charge me the telephone fee as it would not work online). However, my error was that I was following their instructions on the SIM card brochure - they neglected to mention that I had to do the activation on my regular computer, not on the IPad. When they walked me through it, I think we did it through Itunes. Good luck.

Thanks for the question. I understand you have an app that seems to be stuck on "Waiting". The following is a past discussion that dealt with a similar issue, the answer may help you as well:

Try tapping the App, so that it changes to Paused instead of Waiting, then tap it again to resume the install.
Make sure you don't have any paused downloads in other apps either, like the App Store or iTunes Store.
If that doesn't do it, try resetting or restoring the iPhone.

I bought The New iPad 36 days ago...
I'm just frustrated that I held out for years and waited to buy an iPad. I did, finally and I love it. Absolutely love it. I will say this: when I bought it, I had one concern - the 30-pin dock connector. On my old iPod touch, I had that thing fixed 3 times, so I was skeptical. Apple Genius told me that it had been updated since my touch, and was much more sturdy, so I jumped. Again I love it. I loved the iPad so much, I abandoned Android for an iPhone 5 and fell in love with lightning and immediately said to myself "ok, new ipad comes out in a few months so by then I can decide if it's worth it to trade up for lightning." Well, by a few months, Apple meant a few days, thus making me feel like a *******.
So here I am, owner of an iPad that is 36 days old (64GB +4G Verizon). The one thing I wanted fixed on it when I bought is now fixed on this updated one. Apple, though it makes no sense from a business perspective in terms of making a profit, but please offer your customers (like me) who feel somewhat frustrated. Had I waited a week, I could just return my iPad and wait a month for this one that is considerably better in terms of durability. And think about it: say what you want about lightning, but this hopefully this won't crap out. For me, just jumping into present day Apple, I don't have many cables anyway so I've been buying lightning for my iPhone and if I had waited for an iPad with it, man is that money or what?
Comments? If you have a valid argument against me feeling like a d-bag for spending so much 36 days ago only for a new shiny toy to come out, I'm all ears.
OH! I didn't ask a question: Apple, will you give customers who bought an iPad AND AppleCare or something an opportunity to swap out? I mean, I'd give you like a hundred bucks for that.This time, apple really screws up customers! I just bought new ipad over 1 and half month ago, and unfortunately, I am not legitimated to exchange. Apple should give at least gift card or refund the money they over-charge the product which is merely 6 month old, now outdated. Apple is a real ****! I was once a loyal customer to apple, now I decided to turn other platform, apple is no longer trust worthy company anymore. They just want the profit, but not the innovation! Macbook Pro stolen, How can I pass my Ipad info to my new Macbook?
Hi guys, Last october my loved 10 month old Macbook Pro (also my first apple computer) was stolen. The guy who this this never get on line, so I could not track my computer. (I still try to locate my Macbook every day on Iclud, But no luck)
After a few days in agony, I decided to buy a new Macbook. I bought this one in Chile, because I'm living here now.
Well now Im trying to enjoy my new computer, but its been dificult.
First: Why is my new computer slower than my old one, if they have the same characteristics? I even have to wait a few seconds to put my pasword after the screen saver? It freeze at least once every two days. Its annoying!!! If I wanted that, I would it get a PC!. The only difference between computers its that my new one has the new OS software (mountain lion 10.8.2)
Second: My only back up of my stolen computer is what I have in my Ipad, Music, Photos, etc. I`ve linked Itunes with my Ipad: after that I recover my Bookmarks on Safary, My Accounts in Mail, My contacts..it works almost in everything, But Nothing on Iphoto or my songs in Itunes. WHat can I do to get my photos and music on my computer??

For some reason some of my apps suddenly went dark and say waiting. I tried syncing with the computer and updating all the apps but they stayed dark. The individual apps in question say they are updated when I looked at them. Any ideas? Do I need to just delete them off the IPad and start over?
Hi you guys,four days ago my FT and iMessage worked well on my iPhone 5 IOS6.1.3,but my phone Number did not in the caller ID loop,so I turned both of them off,when I wanted to turn it on again,but failed,I tried so many times,but make no difference,It shows me"waiting for activation".Then I found the solution on internet,and you know there are many possible solutions,just like:
1.change the wifi DNS to 8.8.8.8,8.8.4.4.and you must turn your cellular ON.
2.restore the phone setting.Settings>>General>>reset>>all the phone setting.
3.restore the network setting.Setting>>General>>reset>>the network setting.
3.reset the network.
4.reset your Date&time.Setting>>Date&Time>>set automaticlly>>ON.
5.change another network to activate.
6.take out the sim card to activate.
I did everything,but nothing happend,it still"waiting for activation"
And today afternoon,i try to activate again,when i turn iMessage on,it activate successfully.OMG,it is really amazing.and the same to my Facetime.
I am so exciting and strange how it happen...
I followed all the setting above 1.2.3.4.5.6,the only difference is i turned the "enable 3G" OFF(Settings>>General>>Cellular Data>>Enable 3G>>OFF),but it keep ON before now.
seriously,i am not sure if the "enable 3G"causes this problem,but it really happened to me,so you guys can try if you have the same problem,

I tried updating the apps on my iPad and they have been in waiting status for three days. Also, Safari has been running really slow during this time. ANy ideas?
In this order try ....
1. Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
2. Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - a song or podcast .... if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first. Only one thing can download at a time on the iPad so that could be what is causing the problem.
3. If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>iTunes and App Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>iTunes and App Store>Sign in and then try to update again. Tap one waiting icon only if necessary to start the download stream.
4. You can also try deleting the waiting icons - tap and hold down on an icon until it wiggles - the tap the X on the icon to delete it. Then try to download again.
5. You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your app preferences and device settings again.
