Passing XML through a webservice

I want to pass a string that in turn contains XML data, through a webservice.But unfortunately in the o/p of the webservice the '>' and '<'
tags of the string are being displayed as '&lt' and '&gt'.I want to display' >' and '<' not ' &lt' and '&gt' in the webservice output.
Please help me.

If you are trying to embed XML within an XML document, you need to wrap the inner XML in a CDATA tag. One example is here, http://www.w3schools.com/xmL/xml_cdata.asp but you can search on CDATA and find plenty of info.

    We need to pass a fairly large xml file to our webservice. In the wsdl file we use anyType and the webservice method the parameter type is XmlObject. This seems to work except for the additional namespaces added as attributes to the first element. The parser does not like that. Any help or direction is much appreicated.

  • Passing xml as string to xmlPanel function

    hello Genius,
    I am using XML2UI feature of Extending Flash. I want to pass
    XML through string in place of xml file in xmlPanel function.
    is there any way to avoid creating 20 xml files and
    distributing them as my planned extension have 20 ui's.
    thanks in advance.

    Hai Shyam,
    I have tried to do as u have mentioned but still its not taking it as a paramater.
    i mean the API say
    parse
    public void parse(InputSource input) throws IOException,
    SAXExceptionParse an XML document.
    The application can use this method to instruct the XML reader to begin parsing an XML document from any valid input source (a character stream, a byte stream, or a URI).
    Is is any way to convert string to (char stream or byte stream).
    Thanks a lot
    Pooja.

  • Pass parameter through standard page "import xml content and actions"

    Dear Portal experts,
    As you know, a standard portal page is configured to allow the import of XML file. It is located in the portal in the path system admin -> transport -> xml content and actions -> import
    I configured a quick link u201Cimportu201D to the page so now the link http://myserver:port/irj/portal/import allows me to access directly to this screen.
    What I would like to do now is to pass the parameter related to u201Cfile nameu201D through this screen meaning that I would like that http://myserver:port/irj/portal/ import/filename=C:\test.xml  fills automatically the fields u201CXML fileu201D with  C:\test.xml
    Please do you know how to achieve this ?
    Thank you very much and regards

    hi,
    @Maksim :
    When user launch an URL like http://myserver:port/irj/portal/ import/*filename=C:\test.xml, he is requested to provide username and password; as this link is a shortcut for the upload xml page, there is a check of authorization and only portal admin that have authorization and permission on this page/iview will be able to upload xml file through the URL. Hope this clarify.
    @Kumar :
    thank you for your answer. What a pity to not be able to pass parameter through standard portal page/iview particularly knowing that we can pass paramater through many kinds of iviews (transactional iview, url iview, VC iview...). I explored some option on file com.sap.portal.ivs.init.par but this was unsuccessful. However, thanks to this [link bellow|http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/Snippets/ComponenttouploadXMLfilewithPCD+objects], I was able to upload through URL the XML file.
    The problem is that I can upload only XML file that are stored in the server not in the local user computer. My requirement is to be able to upload local XML file stored on user's computer.
    If someone could provide and idea/solution, I would be very grateful.
    Cheers

  • Trying to pass xml data to a web service

    I'm working on an Apex application that is required to pass data to a web service for loading into another (non Oracle) system. The web service expects two stings as input, the first string is simply an ID, the second string is an xml document. I generate an xml 'string' using PL/SQL in an on-submit process prior to invoking the web service. If I pass regular text for the second parameter, the web service returns an error message which is stored in the response collection and displayed on the page as expected. When I pass the the xml data, I get a no data found error and the response collection is empty. I have tried this in our development environment on Apex 3.1.2 (database version 10.2). I also tried this on our Apex 4.0.2 sandbox (with the same Oracle 10.2 database). I have found that once I have nested xml, I get the no data found message, if I pass partial xml data, I get the error response from the web service. Perhaps I am not generating the xml correctly to pass to the web service (this only just occurred to me as I write this)? Or is there an issue passing xml data from Apex to the web service? Any help will be greatly appreciated! here is the code I use to generate the xml string:

    I should add that once I have nested tags in the xml, I get the Oracle no data found error ("<header xmlns=""> <stdXmlVer>2.0</stdXmlVer> <sendingUnit>10</sendingUnit> </header>"). I f I do not have nested tags in the xml ("<notification>[email protected]</notification> <creationDate>2011-12-20</creationDate>"), I get the web service response (error).

    Ok, I think I'm getting closer to thinking this all the way through. When I have used clobs in the past, I've always used the DBMS_CLOB package. I use this to create a temp clob and then make the above calls. I had to go find an example in my own code to remember all of this. So, here is another suggestion... feel free to disregard all the previous code snippets..

    end;This code will use the Database to construct your clob and then convert it back to a varchar2 for output to your webservice. This makes more sense to me now and hopefully you can follow what the process is doing.
    You don't technically need the two varchar2(36767) variables. I used two for naming convention clarity sake. You could use just one multipurpose variable instead.
    If you have any questions, just ask. I'll help if I can.

  • Generating XML through PL/SQL

    Hi everyone,
    I got a new task at work, and my task is to generate XML through PL/SQL.
    I am using Oracle 11g database, and SQL Developer 3.0.
    The purpose of this procedure is to upload xml file to a queue, so my BPEL process can access the queue and do what it does.
    This is my first time writing a procedure that generates xml so bear with me.
    Below is a sample of the xml file I received. I need to generate xml file below through PL/SQL. All the information in xml file will need to be retrieved from the database.
    I need your help to start working on this procedure. Your help is very much appreciated.

    Rooney,
    First of all, I would use Oracle package UTL_DBWS to handle web service calls.
    But if you choose to do all the work yourself to call web service, this is one of the options:
    Since the size of your xml soap request is about 4k, you can just use pl/sql varchar2 variable to construct your xml.
    Example:
    cSoapRequest VARCHAR2(5000);
    BEGIN
    cSoapRequest := '<soap:Envelope xmlns:soap="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">
                             <soap:Body xmlns:ns1="http://www.ussc.gov/soa/casefile/event/types">
                             <caseFileUploadEvent xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3XX.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
                             xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.XXXX.gov/soa/casefile/event/types ../xsd/Case_META.xsd"
                             xmlns="http://www.XXXX.gov/soa/casefile/event/types">';
    FOR recRow IN <your cursor> LOOP
        cSoapRequest := cSoapRequest || '<dateOfBirth>'|| TO_CHAR(recRow.DOB,'YYYY-MM-DD HH:MI' )|| '</dateOfBirth>';
    END LOOP;
    ...Then use package utl_http to send the request and recieve response.
    Google pl/sql webservice,
    Here is one:
    Calling Web Service from PL/SQL (ORA-31011: XML parsing failed)
    Hope this will give you an idea.

  • Passing parameters through URL in ADF Application with UIShell

    Hi,
    JDeveloper Studio Edition Version 11.1.1.6.0
    The UI in our application is developed with UIShell pageTemplate.
    We have a Home page created with PageTemplace "UIShell.jspx" and this page is placed as a view in adfc-config.xml (the Unbounded Task Flow).
    The other pages for our application are created using Page Fragments and these pages are called from Home_taskmenu.xml through Bounded task flows.
    With this setting, the URL(after SignIn) will look like,
    http://localhost:7101/OperationalPlanning/faces/Home?_afrWindowMode=0&_adf.no-new-window-redirect=true&_afrLoop=6811862222491857&_adf.ctrl-state=29wus7giw_19
    We have a requirement to build the URL which should open a Page Fragment directly after Signing In to the application. And we have a id to be passed as a parameter, so it should open the page fragment with the details based on the id value that we pass.
    The parameters are already registered in the Bounded Task Flow(which has the page fragment) and I could open in the "localArea" using a link in the Home Page.
    Now, I want to directly launch the Bounded task flow by passing a parameter, so that it opens the Page Fragment as a tab once we signIn.
    Let me know if there is any solution for this requirement.
    If there is any document to follow for this kind of requirement in an application which is created using the UIShell, please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Tamil

    hi Frank,
    Thanks for the response. We followed your suggestion and managed to capture URL parameters in afterPhase(LifeCycle.PREPARE_MODEL) and save parameters to ViewScope.
    Then in beforePhase(LifeCycle.PREPARE_RENDER), we retrieve parameters back and invoke FndUIController.openMainTask method to launch the correponding taskflow but nothing happens.
    public static void openTaskflowOnNewTab(String taskflowId) {
    try {
    FacesContext fc = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    ELContext elc = fc.getELContext();
    ExpressionFactory ef = fc.getApplication().getExpressionFactory();
    ValueExpression valExp = ef.createValueExpression(elc,"#{bindings.openMainTask}",Object.class);
    JUCtrlActionBinding methodBinding = (JUCtrlActionBinding)valExp.getValue(elc);
    Map params = methodBinding.getParamsMap();
    params.put("label", "Some Title");
    params.put("taskFlowId", taskflowId);
    params.put("reuseInstance", true);
    methodBinding.invoke();
    } catch (Exception e) {
    e.printStackTrace();
    To prove that this method works, we create a UI button on the page (which binds this method in PageDef.xml), and associate this method to onclick event. At runtime after page is opened, clicking on the button does launch the taskflow on new tab successfully.
    Do you happen to know what I do wrong in the beforePhase() method?
    Thanks

    Hello, do LoadVars, XML.load(), or WebService support HTTPS-based endpoints, Yes or No?
    BACKGROUND
    ============
    I've been trying to get a LoadVars to actually make a call to an HTTPS endpoint. There is nothing in the documentation that says it can't. I know that there's also XML.load() and WebService class, but from the looks of it they don't do HTTPS.
    During my tests I have absolutely no issues with making calls to the same service over HTTP. When I change it to HTTPS I don't see HTTPStatus or even failures. Also, netstat on my server will show a connection being established with the endpoint when using HTTP but not when using HTTPS. I've also tried setting SSLVerifyCertificate to "false" in my Server.xml and after a restart of AMS it doesn't help, same symptom.
    I've also googled and looked through all Adobe forum posts that I can find:
    https://forums.adobe.com/message/4938426#4938426
    https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1661461

    https://forums.adobe.com/message/53870#53870
    https://forums.adobe.com/message/87797#87797
    WebService Class - http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5619776/webservice-and-fms
    The best I found from the posts above is a non-commital answer from adobe staff at https://forums.adobe.com/message/4938426#4938426 and a 3rd party person saying that Webservice doesn't work at http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5619776/webservice-and-fms.
    All I need is an official supported/not-supported from the Adobe staff. Shouldn't be to hard after 5 years or so of ignoring the questions in the forum right?

    Adobe, please provide some details to your current and possibly potential customers, in at least one of the many unanswered posts about making HTTPS requests from AMS.
    P.S.

  • Passing XML from Java to PL/SQL using CLOBs?

    Hi. Here at the University at Buffalo, we're trying to develop an architecture where departments can send XML transactions to the business offices over HTTP. Since we don't have much Java expertise on staff, the boss has decided that we should use PL/SQL wherever possible. To that end, I have a Java servlet that calls PL/SQL stored procedures using JDBC.
    My question is this: We anticipate that we will have the need to process documents larger than the limit on VARCHAR2 data. However, unless I am misunderstanding the documentation on working with LOBs, the LOB itself must already exist in the tablespace. How will I take the XML document I receive through the servlet and pass it through to the PL/SQL function which accepts it? This function, FYI, routes documents to various systems based on document type, checks user security, and does a bunch of other things before the XML document is committed to a table.
    Is this possible? If there are already resources available that answer my question, can you point me in the right direction?

    You has to use temporary CLOB for this purpose.
    If you needs some kind of examples I'll sent to you directly the codes.

  • How to pass XML data between applications

    Hi,
    can any one tell me how to pass XML data between applications
    Thanks in advance

    Steve,
    I tried the code in the http package in the Appendix A section of your book. Each time i try a POST I get a HTTP/1.1 400 Bad Request error from the server. I can successfully do a GET from URLs. I have pretty much copied your code verbatim. Any ideas?
    Thanks,

    See the "Working with XML Messages" section starting on page 242 of my Building Oracle XML Applications. It covers how to Send and Receive XML messages over the web through HTTP GET and HTTP POST as well as specifically Example 6-30 that illustrates how to receive a posted XML message in a servlet and process it.
    Hope this helps.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

  • How do you pass XML as a URL param?

    How do you pass XML as a URL param?
    Thanks!

    I don't know why I wasn't thinking about this when I made my
    last post. If they're pasting some XML into a form, that's one
    thing. But if they need to send XML to your site from their own,
    you can setup a Coldfusion Component (CFC) as a Web Service to
    accept XML through a WSDL call.

  • How to write data into xml through web service

    Hi,
      I have a requirement to write the data into xml through a web service .send me related links and sample code if any.

    hi kiran,
      write the data into xml : We need suitable set of java Beans for handling WebService Data.
       However, there are cases when you may prefer an alternate mapping, or when there just isn't a well-defined mapping for your particular schema construct (xsd:choice is a common example). For these cases, IBM® WebSphere® has introduced a new feature called Custom Data Binding that allows you to integrate alternate data binding technologies like JAX-B, EMF/SDO and XML beans, as well to define your own XML schema to Java mappings. This article provides an overview of the technology and how you can get started integrating it into your application.

  • Update the passed XML in a PL/SQL procedure and then use DBMS_XMLSAVE

    hi folks,
    This is a great forum and most of you guys were awesome in replying to complex queries........
    I have a small issue, I am trying to do a bulk insert from my application by constructing an XML result set and pass that XML to the SP as a CLOB and using DBMS_XMLSAVE package to insert it to the oracle table. It works like a charm for me when this is as straight forward as this. But when my requirement is, I need to generate sequence numbers for a particular column (Primary key column), while for other columns I pass values from the UI (as a XML object which my SP accepts as a CLOB), i am at a loss for solution to achieve this. It would mean, that I have to generate the sequence numbers for each row and then update this value to the passed XML clob. Any indicators on how to achieve this?
    I found this solution at one of the thread which might most probably help me,
    declare
    2 l_cnt number;
    3 begin
    4 select count(*) into l_cnt from books,xmltable('/Books/Book' passing object_value);
    5 for i in 1..l_cnt loop
    6 update books set object_value =
    7 updatexml(object_value,'/Books/Book['||i||']/BookID', xmlelement("BookID",sequence_bookid.nextval))
    8 where existsnode(object_value,'/Books/Book['||i||']')=1;
    9 end loop;
    10 end;
    11 /
    But here, they are trying to update a XMLTable book, but in my case the XML is a clob object and not a XML table. Will this solution work for my case as well? Please provide any pointers to me... Thanks...

    First if your version of Oracle has DBMS_XMLSTORE, use that instead.
    Reason: {thread:id=876376} (See Marco's response).
    It is possible you could run into issues, but you should start with DBMS_XMLSTORE.
    Since you will have the XML in the SP, treat the data as an XMLType instead of a CLOB for as long as you can since you need to do UpdateXML on it.
    For your sample PL/SQL code, lines 4-5 are replaced with the WHILE loop shown in Method 2 at
    {message:id=3610259}.
    The UPDATE would be replaced with the following pseudocode
    SELECT UPDATEXML(<l_xmltype_variable>, ...)
    INTO <l_xmltype_variable>
    FROM dual;
    Once your loop is done, l_xmltype_variable would contain your updated XML and then you can use that XMLType directly on the call to DBMS_XMLSTORE or convert it back to a clob via
    l_clob_variable := l_xmltype_variable.getClobVal();
