Passive DAG copies disappear overnight

I have created 2 new mailbox databases with 2 passive copies each across our 3 mailbox servers. One of these databases, DATABASE_P, is perfectly fine. The other database however, DATABASE_S, has been created, but then overnight the two passive copies have
disappeared. There is not much in the logs to say what has happened, except that the MSExchangeRepl logs have it showing 3 copies at 23:42, and then 1 copy an hour later. I also get this error on the active server:
Exchange Search Indexer failed to enable the Mailbox Database DATABASE_S (GUID = GUID) after 10 tries. The last failure was: MapiExceptionMdbOffline: Unable to get CI watermark (hr=0x80004005, ec=1142)
Please let me know what is going on so that I can get this fixed.

Hi Snorri,
1. Please check the Copy Status of these two mailbox.
2. Please check if Microsoft Exchange Search Indexer service is started on passive nodes.
If you also see Event ID 9519 in the Application Log, here is a KB for your reference.

  • Memory on phone has disappeared overnight!

    Hi
    I have the 6300.
It has a built in memory card which has disappeared overnight.
    Does anyone have any ideas?
    Much appreciated.
    Thanks

Whoa! Maybe someone has sneaked in to your phone.

Are the photos saved on your phone's SD card? Try removing and reinserting the card and restarting your phone.

Why do items (folders) I place in the sidebar disappear overnight? Seriously, Yosemite?

    Do a backup.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist.  Move the .plist to your desktop.
Re-launch Finder by restarting the computer and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the same, return the .plist to where you got it  from, overwriting the newer one.

  • Wifi on one iPad disappeared overnight

    1. Wifi in problem iPad 2 disappeared overnight. Other Macs, iPads and iPhones have wifi, as usual.
    2. I have tried resets, forgets, etc.
    3. I even restored the sw on the problem iPad, to no avail.
    4. I have two wifi networks.
    5. iPad finds both networks; signal strength good.
    6. Both networks recognize the WPA passwords.
    7. Attempt to connect circles forever, with no check mark. No wifi emblem in the upper left corner, either.
    Any insights? HW failure?
    Rokkap

If the iPad does work using another WiFi network, that would still indicate some kind of issue with your home nether, but that doesn't seen real likely at this point.
You did reset all Settings? Not just network settings.

  • Apps disappearing overnight!!!!!

My apps have now disappeared overnight 3 nights in a row, becoming quite annoyed and can't find anything to help! Any ideas please? Iphone4 not connected to anything, works perfectly until I go to sleep, in the morning gone!! No one around to do it deliberately either!
    I phone 4

It is a weird one I know, but honestly all apps iv added are gone the last 3 mornings! Tonight I'm going to put it under lock and key to be sure it's not tampered with!( bearing in mind i live alone with no pets!) Glad to know this is injecting some fun into the forum lol and my misfortune makes you all laugh
Strangely this started after I synced my apps to iTunes for the first time..

  • My appointments in my calendar disappeared overnight.  How do I get them back?

I noticed this morning that my calendar appointments had disappeared.  they were there yesterday. How do I get them back?

    To answer your questions below....
    1. I tried  to power on and off and it did nothing.
    2. I haven't downloaded anything.  Although I dont know if any updates ran overnight.
    3. I dont usually use my gmail account, but I checked when this happened and the calendar there was empty as well.  I never changed any of the setting for the calendar so it should have been at the factory settings.
I literally had everything when I went to bed and when I looked in the morning it was wiped clean.

  • Veeam backing up a passive DAG member with an active Public Folder DB on it.?

Hi, Anyone here using VEEAM 7 to backup exchange 2010 sp2 (yes.. I know)?
We have a DAG with two nodes. They are VMware machines. We are having issues with the backups. Specifically getting many many vss writer timeouts when snapshoting the machine and because the VSS is in a failed state it does not appear to be truncating the
transaction logs. I have talk to veeeam extensively and they feel it is an MS issue..
What i have noticed is that the VSS fails when freezing the pub folder store. It freezes, generates the shadow copy.. releases the shadowcopy and then say copy aborted
    Thoughts?
    Thanks.
    Drew

    Hi,
Per my known, the default freeze timeout for the Exchange writer is 20 seconds, and this timeout can result in a failover from the active node to the passive node during snapshot creation.
I recommend you increase the DAG heartbeat to check the result. For more details about this, you can refer to the following article.

  • SSAS cube role members magically disappear overnight

    Hello,
We are running SQL Server 2008 SP1 CU4 and I have been experiencing an occasional issue whereby our cube role members disappear - resulting in the user-dashboards failing on our website, so I am keen to resolve this.
    Some background:
-We have two roles, one with 2 members and one with about 15-20.  When the issue occurs, both roles lose their members but the roles themselves remain.
-The SSAS database is set to do a full process every night at 11pm.
-I deploy cube changes by backing up the cube from my development machine, and restoring to the server.  My dev machine is on a different Windows domain.  When I restore I select "overwrite security information" but am always very careful to select
"Skip Membership".  The restores always complete successfully, and I can immediately re-process the cube and confirm that the original members are still there and functioning normally.
-I suspect that this issue is related to the nightly re-process of the database, however I have tested this theory by checking the membership the day after I've completed a cube deployment and everything is still Ok.
-This just happened again last night.  I reviewed the server logs and saw that the server rebooted last night at 9pm, followed by the cube re-process at 11pm.
-I noted this morning that the role membership has a single SID listed, and I can confirm that this is the SID of my local user account on my local machine.  So it appears that when the issue exhibits itself, the cube is reverting back to the role membership
contained in the restored database, even though I told it to skip membership.
To fix it this morning, I re-added the members and have saved a script to automate the process next time it occurs.  I am aware I could run this script after every re-process just to be safe - but I'd rather stop unpredictably losing the configuration
than automate the re-establishment of it!
    What gives!? Any suggestions appreciated.
    Michael

    Hi Abbas,
We're clear on the difference between "build" and "process" right?
In my case, the cube processes every night - whereas we only change the design of the cube occasionally, maybe once every 2-3 months - therefore we are only
building it every 2 or 3 months.
Because my dev machine is on a totally different domain to the SSAS server, I can't (or at least I didn't think I could) specify the accounts that are members of the various roles during development.  I do this with the aid of a script every time we
deploy out a new version of the cube to the SSAS server.
So, after a build and deploy - the cube role membership is perfectly fine and behaves as expected for all users.  The thing that's puzzling us is that the role membership occasionally appears to unpredictably revert to prior settings (i.e. reverting
back to my deployed role membership config prior to running my script to set the correct role membership).
The cube can be running fine for several months and then suddenly I get a call in the morning about users not being able to access the cube.  I find that the server was rebooted overnight and the role memberships have disappeared - this is not an immediate
result of a BIDS build/deploy as I think you are suggesting Abbas.
This hasn't occurred again since my last post in March this year, fingers crossed the problem has gone away.
    Thanks,
    Michael

  • ITunes movie disappeared overnight?

I recently rented a movie on my mac. It took SO long to download that I let it download overnight. I'm not actually sure if it finished or not, cause when I woke up, the movie mysteriously disappeared. It wasn't in downloads or the library, and I know for sure that I paid for it because I got a billing statement from iTunes. Please help!

    Hello there, XxSilverflameXx.
Many users reporting your issue have found that signing out and then back into their iTunes account has resolved the issue you're describing:
iTunes 11 for Mac: Manage your iTunes Store account
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12299
This section in particular will help you with that:
Sign in to or out of the iTunes Store
After you set up an Apple ID account (or if you’re using an existing AOL account instead), you can sign in to theiTunes Store to buy music and video, view or change your account information, and see your purchase history.
When you finish using the store, you can sign out to prevent anyone else who has access to your computer from making purchases using your account.
Choose Store > Sign In (or Sign Out).
You can also sign in to your account by clicking Sign In at the top of the iTunes Store window:
If you continue to have the issue persists, then you will want to report the issue with your purchase using the following information:

  • Lightroom 5 virtual copies disappear

HI there, just recently, maybe in the past couple months, anytime I make multiple virtual copies of images and then close and reopen lightroom, the copies have disappeared. I have a Mac with OSX 10.7.5. Thanks for any help.

How that happened I cannot answer!
To achieve the same I would- Select all images, press CTRL+'  (the key with quote symbols) three times.
To view only the VCs (to delete?) you can filter for 'Attributes' and there is a toggle icon to show only VCs to the right of flags, stars, colors, etc.
You will need a smart collection to filter for VCs that have NOT been edited.

  • Virtual copies disappeared when I synchronized folders - any idea why?

I am in the process of learning to work with the LR3 catalog, but in the meantime, I still occasionally work with the folders on my computer. I moved some photos from one folder to a sub folder at the system level, and when I went back to LR I needed to synchronize the folders because of the change. After the sync was complete, I noticed all of my virtual copies in LR had disappeared. Is there an option to save the virtual copies during synchronization that I am missing? Or do I need to save each virtual copy with a new name before I sync anything? I would so appreciate any help on this as I know the virtual copy feature will be a very useful tool for me in the future. Thanks for any help!!

Thank you for your answers. I definitely understand now that sync will not preserve my virtual copies, but I will somehow need to come up with a different way to manage my folders. I know that LR empasizes using the catalog as the main source for working with your photos, but the reason that doesn't work for me is that I do not always need to be in LR when I am working with my photos. Not only that, but my husband and daughter also use my photo folders on occasion, so I need to have easy access for them. Neither one of them are familiar with LR, so I use my folders to organize the photos in a way that they could find them without having to access LR. For example, I edit photos for my daughter's online business. When I am done editing, I put them in a folder for her to use that only contains the edited versions so she doesn't have to wade through the other pictures. That is much easier than teaching her how to find them in LR and then export the ones that she needs, making sure she is doing it all correctly without messing up my catalog or system folders.
The other reason I prefer to organize my folders from my hard drive is that I prefer the viewing program in Windows. I get much bigger views of the photos than I do in LR without having to hide any other tools, boxes, etc. When I want to see the largest view possible I just double click the photo, then use my arrow key to scroll through any others. In LR, I have to hide all the additional stuff on the screen.
I think I will go back and re-read the section on Collections. Hopefully that will be what I need to save my virtual copies as I create them. Or maybe I should make snapshots of them when I try different presets. Will Collections or Snapshots be preserved when I sync the folders?
    Thanks again for your time!

  • Make Passive Database Copies Active and Decommissioning Exchange 2010 SP2

I am in the middle of tranferring Databases from Old Physical servers to New Mailbox Servers.
My approach was to join the new servers to DAG replicate all Databases,After which I will make the Database Copies in the New Servers Active with high Preference and Decommission the old.Servers.
I however dont know how to go about it ?

Well, you just did describe it!
You dont need to change the activation preference though. Once the old databases are removed, Exchange will set the preference automatically and then you can adjust as necessary.
Here is what I would do:
    1. Add the mailbox servers to the DAG.
    2. Replicate to the new servers.
    3. Activate databases on servers not being removed.
    4. Remove the database copies on the servers you are removing. (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd298164.aspx )
    5. Remove the servers from the DAG that no longer have database replicas.
    Thats it! Very simple.
Note that the all the DAG members have to be at the same O/S and should be at the same Exchange SP.
(SP2 is no longer supported - Time to move to 2010 SP3)

  • HT1657 Rental disappeared overnight before viewing.

I rented a movie while in a hotel room on my ipad, and the movie never finished downloading overnight.  When i woke up the next morning, the rental was gone, and I never got a chance to view it.  Since it never finished downloading, and the download disappeared, I didn't expect it to show up on my itunes bill, however, it did.  I understand it's not apples fault the hotel connection was too crappy to support the download, but I do expect them to allow me to continue downloading it later.  How can I restart the download?

As far as I know, you will need a computer to download the rental since it no longer shows as a download on the iPad. The iPad has no option to check for available downloads while a computer does.

  • Songs can't be found on computer or hard drive - disappeared overnight.

I synced my iPod yesterday. Today some songs - that synced successfully yesterday - are now no longer 'able to be found' on my computer's iTunes. I have just subscribed to iTunes Match. Any suggestions? A large number of songs have just... disappeared. Not happy.
Last week I transferred all of my music to an external hard drive. I thought that this could be the problem, but since then I have synced my iPod and there were no error messages and the currently missing songs still live on my iPod. I've searched my computer, as well as my external hard drive, with no sign of the files.
It's quite a few songs, and I am traveling and so no longer have the original CDs that they came from.
Have they simply disappeared to iTunes song heaven?
    Thanks!
