Hi all
On the Lost password Management page, after type in the new password and click save the following error shows:
"The Directory Server password syntax was violated. The password cannot be changed"
this is on Active Directory 2008 as backend LDAP for OAM 10.1.4.3.0.
thanks

Hi and welcome to the forum!

  • Find My MacBook - changed password, cannot change back within a year

    Hi,
My MacBook Air was stolen, and being security conscious, I changed my iCloud password. I now realise that I had enabled Find My MacBook, and I can see my Air there (although the thief has already changed the name!). However, it can't be located because the password is now changed, and I can't change my password back to what it was because you cannot reuse a password within a year.
Is there any way I can circumvent this password constraint so I can restore my old password and possibly locate the MacBook?
    Tim

    > now I have to press the Fn key to use any special functions
This means that Special Function key mode is disabled.
You can enable this within the BIOS or within the Toshiba System settings (HWSetup)
To access the BIOS you have to press F2 while booting up the unit.

    Hello there dinadinadina,
It sounds like you have modified the password settings for your Gmail account after changing the password. Thats where I would have started too. Next I would restart the device and test it one more time, and then remove and add the account again in Settings:
Get help with Mail on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
    Restart your iOS device.
Delete the affected email account from your device.
Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
    Tap the affected email account.
    Tap Delete Account.
    Add your account again.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,

  • The item contains one or more busy items that cannot be changed

We have a Windows 2003 file server and we are having issues with Macs retrieving files/folders from it. There is a folder on the Windows share named "dropbin" that UserA has full permissions on. UserB has the following NTFS permissions on the dropbin folder.
Traverse Folder / Execute File Allow
List Folder / Read Data Allow
Create Files / Write Data Allow
Create Folders / Append Data Allow
    Write Attributes Allow
    Write Extended Attributes Allow
This gives UserB the ability to look inside the dropbin folder and place content in there. This same user cannot delete or pull down anything that a different user (UserC) has put in there. UserA (the person with full permissions) should be able to pull down anything put in there.
This works fine from an XP box if an XP user (UserB) puts content in there UserA from a Mac or a PC can get and manipulate the data. If a Mac user (UserB) puts a file up there (it seems to happen with a .txt file, a .cp file, or a .zip file) UserA from a Mac gets the following error when trying to download the file:
"You may need to enter the name and password for an administrator on this computer to change the item named item.txt"
When you hit continue you get the following error:
"The item item.txt contains one or more busy items that cannot be changed"
If you proceed to enter in the admin credentials, the file doesn't copy down to the local Mac and fails without an error.
A couple of things we noticed....
    1. If Mac UserB puts up a Word document or a .dmg file then UserA from a Mac can pull it down fine without errors.
    2. On the Windows 2003 server we noticed that for each file we tried to upload it creates a ._ corresponding hidden file. For example, item.txt also has ._item.txt. If we go up on the server and remove the hidden file, Mac UserA can pull down the file fine.
    3. We tried zipping the files (or files and folders) locally on Mac UserB's desktop then putting the .zip file up there but since it creates a ._file.zip Mac UserA still can't pull it down.
    4. The fix we found for this is to have Mac UserB place the files they want to upload into a folder on the desktop, then upload that folder. When Mac UserA comes by they can pull down that folder's worth of stuff.
We are accessing the Windows 2003 file share by going to the finder and using the "Go" menu and entering in:
    smb://servername/sharename
and they use their Windows domain credentials to log in.

We may have figured this out but it requires some more testing. The reason why the file upload creates the ._ files in the dropbin folder when UserB puts content in there is because UserB does not have the "Delete" permission in that folder. My guess is that it creates the ._ file when the file is in transit but then deletes that file after it has completed the transfer (but without the delete permission it couldn't remove the ._ file). What we did was added another user to the NTFS permissions for that folder, we added the built in "CREATOR OWNER" account and gave that user the "Delete" permission, now the ._ files do not appear under there and UserA can come along and manage the uploaded file okay.
Hope this helps someone else out.

  • One or more busy items cannot be changed

I've dragged songs out of iTunes to a folder on the desktop, dragging this folder to my external HD the message "the item "..." contains one or more busy items that cannot be changed" comes up. The permissions for this folder are read and write so not sure what else to do. I've done this before and had no problems...

I finally sorted out a similar problem.
Discover which files are involved by copying the *contents* of the source folder to a destination.
The offending folder (or folders) should display by name. If the item is a file, the file name should display. You can drill down within a folder by the same process: copy the contents (not the entire folder) to a destination, to find the offending folder or item.
I ran across and old (2002) posting which mentioned file type as preventing deletion:
    http://hints.macworld.com/article.php?story=20020920055805577
I found an old application which can display file creator and type on OS X:
    http://www.frederikseiffert.de/filetype/
How old is it? The System Requirements are:
"FileType runs on Mac OS X v10.0 or later and on Mac OS 8.6 or later with CarbonLib 1.3."
It runs on 10.4. Haven't tested anything later.
I discovered that the file types on the offending files were "brok". It so happens they were all tiffs, so I changed them to "TIFF". I still got a message about needing to enter an admin user and password, but the copy then worked.

I am trying to authorize my computer and I get an error message: The required directory was not found or has a permissions error. Correct this permissions problem and try again, or deauthorize this computer if the permissions cannot be changed. Help?

I used Terminal to change the permissions on the folder in question.  I followed the instructions in this article:
iTunes: Missing folder or incorrect permissions may prevent authorization
In my case, the folder was there, so I needed the command to change permissions on the folder, not to create one.   I was hesitant to use Terminal b/c I know that if I made an error I could wipe out my hard drive or render my computer unusable.  So to be SURE I didn't make an error, I carefully copied the command from that page and *pasted* it into Terminal.  Also, before I could do anything in Terminal, I had to go change my admin password (it had been a blank password before and that's not acceptable for making changes in Terminal).  I was just super careful when entering my password or doing anything else while Terminal was open (making sure I didn't accidently hit the spacebar or another key, etc.)  And it fixed the problem right away.
What was confusing for me was that the iTunes error message said to change permissions in the FINDER, which is what I was trying to do.  It didn't mention Terminal.  What would really be helpful is if Apple included a link to a page like this in their error message.

  • What passwords should be changed after OAS cluster build?

I have completed a cluster installation of Fusion Middleware and AIA 2.2.x. I would like to know what passwords should be changed other than oc4jadmin.

    hi,
First of all changing password of oc4jadmin on cluster is bit tricky. make sure you follow the steps correctly. I assume you know these steps.
It is not advised to use oc4jadmin for normal monitoring, admin and configuration changes task in application server control. you should create following user with corresponding privileges. Please refer to http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B31017_01/core.1013/b28940/tools.htm#BEIDJGID
ascontrol_admin : Assign this role to administrators who need complete administrative privileges and access to the Application Server Control application and pages. You can consider these administrators the "super users" assigned to manage your Oracle Application Server and OC4J environment.
ascontrol_appadmin : Assign this role to administrators who need to manage all deployed applications, except the default and Application Server Control (ascontrol) applications. These administrators can manage the applications you deploy, but they cannot create new administrative users or make global configuration changes.
ascontrol_monitor : Assign this role to administrators who must monitor the Oracle Application Server and OC4J environment, but do not need to make any configuration changes to the applications or the OC4J instance. This role is essentially a read-only role.
Also, you would want to create user for monitoring in BPEL, ESB, AIA console. This user should have following roles:
    AIAUser
    BPMAnalyst
    BPMDefaultDomainAdmin
    Supervisor
    Ascontrol_monitor

  • Generated analysis authorization cannot be changed

    Hello all,
did someone manage to edit/delete generated (from DSO) analysis authorizations? When I want to correct a typo in one of the generated analysis authorizations it is not possible although the system is telling that it should be possible to do so. I did not find any note or thread yet.

    Hello Ms. ,
I always was telling about one issue:
Change of generated analysis authorization is not possible.
Since BI 7.0 we are talking about analysis authorizations so the
    transaction code used is obvious.
There is no need for furhter information because it is only this single
issue: I guess that it should be an error message and not a warning
message and SAP made a mistake here by using the wron message category.
I was never talking about users and xxxxxx is not an user but an
    analysis authorization.
Please consider the call a solved - in the meantime I got

    Hello Ms King,
I must say that I find this message quite incomprehensible. First you
write that you are irritated because my colleague asked you which
transaction is being used to generate authorizations. This information
is necessary so that the message can be assigned to the appropriate
area. Indeed, the message was incorrectly sent to BC-SEC. Next you
write that you are angry when I give you a consulting note regarding
generation of analysis authorizations. I am mystified as to how such
information from customers should help us in solving a technical or
procedural probem. I have read the message from the beginning and
there is very little technical and procedural information. Moreover, itis not clear what the "error" is here. The message RSEC292 is a warning(as clearly stated in the long text of the message) and this should not
hinder the process. Lastly, in your last info you refer to a specific
user, xxxxxxxx, as an example of a generated authorization. This is
    separate issue than the original:
It is not possible to change from DSOs generated analysis
authorizations although the system is telling that it should be
possible to do so. Authorizations are sufficient (SU53; SAP_ALL)
So in response to the original inquiry regarding RSEC292. The answer,
as I have already mentioned and as stated in the text, is that this
is just for information purposes. Please continue with the process.
If you have a separate inquiry regarding the authorizations of
particular users, please open a second message. We request that
customer log one issue per message. Please read note 375196:

  • HT204053 Have new iphone. Had everything backed up on icloud. All was OK till tried to download pics and an old incorrect @me apple id showed up. Now phone reverted to year old icloud back up. Support says id with @me cannot be changed but apple store did

Question: Acquired new iphone last week. All data was backed up with icloud on old phone and all was restored OK. Today, tried to download pics to my Mac and itunes asked for phone update---which resulted in an old incorrect "@me" id being used.  Now all data is over a year old --- to when the incorrect @me id was established. Apple support says @me ids cannot be changed but they did in an Apple store once. I do not know how to cahnge to correct id so can get to correct icloud data. Help

having looked into this a bit more and found I have a bigger problem than just the one i originally posted as this impacts more than one of my devices.
I think I can pose the question in a easier way.....
I changed the name of my apple ID as it was using the name of an old email account I no longer have access to.
when I go onto any of my IOS devices that are running 7.x to change the  Icloud account details , I cannot delete the old account id because when I try to it asks me for the password of my old account ID as I have find my iphone turned on.  when I type in  the password that was on the old account it  says "incorrect apple id or password". I assume because that apple ID no longer exists.
ICLOUD obviously recognises the two accounts are the save as when I run up findmyiphone on an iphobe that is logged in with my new account ID it can see other IOS devices in my family that are still logged in with the old account name.
    so my questions is:
how do you log you update an IOS device if you have simply changed the account name of your apple ID if you are on IOS 7 and have find my iphone turned on?

  • ORA-28007: the password cannot be reused

Anytime I try and login with a user that has password verification profile I receive:
ORA-28007: the password cannot be reused
Please tell me that ApEx 2.2 did not actually just implement the 'change password' and see if the hashes match for the built in DB Authentication.

In hindsight, perhaps we should have mentioned in the Release Notes that when this new authentication scheme is used in post-2.0 applications, the underlying mechanism used for password verification is database version dependent, explaining potential drawbacks of the pre-10.2.0.3 method. Then developers would have better information about the new authentication scheme type and could decide if it was right for them. They would also be able to decide whether importing post-2.0 applications that used this authentication scheme from a 10.2.0.3 database into a post-2.0 Application Express instance on a pre-10.2.0.3 database would be the right choice given the same potential issues. However, this technique, like it or not, is used as a workaround to the absence of exposed password verification methods in earlier server versions and has been used for many years in production systems, including large-scale HTML DB deployments, from well before this new authentication scheme was exposed for use as such, but where developers implemented the method themselves as components of their authentication architecture.
In short, I think your objection to the method on technical grounds (citing known pitfalls) is valid but I think you're saying that anyone who's ever used the method in any application technology in a production system ought to have found a better alternative. Maybe you're right.
