Password Encryptions in Maxl log files

When we tried using the suggested methodology, found there are still some open questions.
My question is not encrypting the password in MaxL script, I want to encrypt password in MaxL Script LOG which has password in clear text.
pls anybody reply soon.

Is this new functionality?
If I had a stack of Bibles, I'd swear that on 9.3.1, it will clear text your password. That's why I always put the spool command directly after the (encrypted) login.
^^^I haven't found the readme that states this is different behavior in 11, but I'll bet it's out there.
I'll also swear that I couldn't encrypt SQL passwords in 9.3.1, but as I don't have access to that environment any longer, I can't be certain.

How to remove password-encryption in a signed PDF file?

I can open a password-encryption and digitally signed PDF file using Acrobat X Standard but cannot remove the password protection.
Can anyone help me remove the password encryption? The Acrobat only allows to set passsord encryption before adding digital signature to a PDF file. Can I sign a PDF file and then encrypt it with password? Thanks.

Removing the security, if it is possible, would destroy the signature.
Encrypting a signed PDF would destroy the signature.
This is because signatures validate the file exactly as it is, and changes to the file break the signature by design. Setting security is a change to the PDF (a big change).

Routing logs to individual log file in multi rules_file MaxL

Hi Gurus,
I have been pretty late to this forum after long time. I have a situation here, and trying to find out the best way for operational benefits.
We have an ASO cube (Historical) keeps 24 months snapshot data and refreshed monthly just like last 24 months rolling. The cube size is around 18.5 GB. The input level data size is around 13 GB. For monthly refresh the current process rebuilds the cube from scratch, deletes the 1/24 snapshot as it is going to add last months snapshot. The entire process takes 13 hours of processing time becuase the server doesn't have number of CPUs to support parallel operations.
Since we recently moved to 11.1.2.3, and have ample amounts of CPUs(8) and RAM (16gb), I'd like to take davantage of parallelism, and will go for incremental load. Prior to that since the outline build is EPMA driven I'd only like to rebuild the dimension with all data, essentially restructures the DB, with data after metadata refresh, so that I can keep my history intact, and only proceed for loading the last month's data after clearing out the 1st snapshot.

I am able to achive performance but not satisfactory. So I have couple of queries below.
1. Whether bule shaded codes can further be tuned. I have major problem in clearing only 1 month snapshot : where I require to clear one scenario and the designated 1st month.
2. Multiple rules_file statement, how do I write logs of each load rule to separte log files instead one, my previous process is wrting error-log for each load rule in separte log file and consolidates at the end of batch run to a single file for the whole batch execution.

multiple log files.
Regrading Partial Clear:
My worry is, I first tried partial clear with 'logical', that too took considerable amonut of time, and the
difference between logical and physical clear is only 15-20 minutes. FYI, I have 31 dimensions in this cube,
and the MDX clear script that use Scenario->ACTUAL and Period->&CLEAR_PERIOD (SubVar) is of dynamic hierarchy
type.
Is there a way I can rewrite the clear data MDX script in betterway so that it will clear faster, than this
<<CrossJoin({([ACTUAL])},{[&CLEAR_PERIOD]})>>
Does this clear MDX have any effect on dynamic/stored hierarchy nature of the dimension, if not, then what
would be optimized way to write this MDX?

"Share over Wan" - passworded but log files say differently?

In a desperate attempt to get backup features to work on my TC, I enabled "Share over Wan". Thinking that I've got more than enough security with disk passwords, I didn't automatically think there'd be a problem.
I then looked at my log files on my TC a day later and saw successful logins from IP's other than mine - but all within the same subdomain.
Does "Share over Wan" supersede the disk passwords? I've tried accessing from other subdomains (my work) and always get prompted for passwords. Should I be worried about these successful logins or ignore them as successful pings (or the like?)
I've, of coarse, now turned off "Share over Wan".

Rather than use readlines you can optimize the read operations like so:

SOA10g: Encrypt Password in oc4j-ra.xml file.

I am using ftp adapter for SFTP operations. Is there any way to encrypt the password in oc4j-ra.xml file.
I was trying to use encrypt.bat to encrypt the password..but when i hit the enter button , the screen gets closed.
Pls tell me how to achieve this in soa 10g.

This is done via the 'encrypt.bat' or 'encrypt.sh' script located in your SOA Suite install.
cd %ORACLE_HOME%\bpel\bin
encrypt.bat mypassword
Use the output of this command in your oc4j-ra.xml file.

I don't use default OMB+ logging for this reason, plus I often want more robust logging. I also built a wrapper for executing OMB+ statements to simplify my exception handling in my main scripts. By catching both the return string from a statement as well as the exception strings, I keep full control over what gets logged.

Encrypting archive log files...

We've started learning and are exploring TDE (tablespace encryption on windows servers). All datatypes appear to be encrypted in the datafiles (looked via block dump), but only a few datatypes appear to be encrypted in the archive logs. Is this the right behavior? Is there a way to fully encrypt the archive logs too?

Found out the problem. We failed to include <DEFAULT STORAGE(ENCRYPT)> in our create tablespace statement. The archive logs are now also encrypted.

WebLogic 10.3.2.0 hanging at startup after "The server log file is opened."

Hi,
A WebLogic 10.3.2.0 server is hanging at startup. There are no error messages. The last command in the startup window is:
"The server log file <log file dest> is opened. All server side log events will be written to this file."
I think the next line should be:
"Security initializing using security realm realm."
Any ideas on what could be the issue? For instance what resources should be accessed at that point of time? There is sufficient space left on the (virtual machine) disk. The VM configured with 8GB memory. Could it be performance related still?

Visible login data in log file

Hi all,
when i use an import command via MaxL and log the process with "spool on" the SQL login data can be seen in the log file.

When i set a spool off before that statement and a spool on afterwards i miss any information of the import process.
Is there any way to hide or encrpt the login data?

We have a shell script that is registered and runs successfully in a dev environment. When we push this to a new environment we get the following values that display on the log file.
FCP_REQID
FCP_LOGIN
FCP_USERID
FCP_USERNAME
FCP_PRINTER
FCP_SAVE_OUT
FCP_NUM_COPIES
My main concern here is that the apps username/password is displayed in plain text. Why is this displaying in one instance but not the other? Any ideas how to turn this off? Could this be a setting in the concurent request?

10.4 password encryption

10.3 used some wierd NTLM/SHA1 hash. Which is crackable without much effort. Does anybody know what password encryption 10.4 uses?

Well, "waste of time" may have been a bit harsh, but one weakness of "Filevault" (compared to using a separate encrypted disk image) is that it uses the same password for logging in as unlocking the encrypted disk image. There are all sorts of references on the web for cracking login passwords in Panther, and a few for Tiger. Ultimately it would probably depend on the strength of the password itself, but when the password hash for the login password is readily available for a thief to feed in to a password cracking programme, figuring out the login password would probably be easier than trying to figure out an encrypted dmg password (unless someone can explain how and where in the dmg file the password info is stored)...
