Password for a folder?

Hi,
Is it possible to "encrypt" a folder by locking it with a password? Like if some random guy hacked my computer and he wanted to open this folder, I could lock it with a password so he couldn't open it. This didn't actually happen but.. : ) Thanks!

You could place the folder/files inside an Encrypted Disk Image which requires a password to open, and allows you move files to or from an encrypted disk image as easily as you can from a non-encrypted disk image.
In addition, there are third party software solutions Apimac Secret Folder for Mac, and PuzzlePalace.
I personally find the Encrypted Disk Image method the most effective means to secure with "Top Secret" confidence the contents of a folder, which I use to store all of my passwords and PINS.
Mac OS X: About Encrypted Disk Images, says...Warning:
The encryption used is 128-bit, equivalent to that used in the banking industry. If you forget the password to your encrypted disk image, your data will be irretrievably lost. By default, the password is stored in your login keychain when you create an encrypted disk image. The keychain uses the same password that you use to log in to the system. You should use the keychain to store this password.
If you want total control of this disk image, "Do Not" add the password to keychain. Just be sure to remember the password or your data will be reduced to a jumble of 1's and 0's forever.

Mac OS X does not natively include a method for passwording only selected folders. You can either get a third-party utility such as Knox (from AgileBits) or you can create an encrypted disk image (using Disk Utilty) and keep the files you wish protected in that disk image.

Password for Mail folder

I attached my Gmail, and yahoo accounts to iPhone, My friends, brother used to play games on my iPhone. so is there a way/application to keep password for complete Mail application (I want to keep my accounts, and I don't want to show all my emails to my friends). So whenever if someone click on 'MAIL' folder, iPhone must popup message like 'enter password'.

[Suggestion] Account password for user-folder encryption

Not sure where suggestions would go, but does anyone else think this should be a feature?
Setting a user's password should crypt that users folder (using bitlocker?) so other users aren't able to just browse to it on the drive. Attempting to access another users folder should bring up a prompt asking for that users password. I know you can bitlock
an entire drive, but this would prevent user B from accessing user A's files. yes/no. is this already a feature i'm unaware of?

Password for a Document folder

I have not needed a pasword in the past and I remember years ago in was not possible for a P/W for a document folder.
Has there been any changes that now allow for passwords for a document ?
If not, any free apps out there for it ?

Yes, you can create an encrypted folder and save files into it. Only someone with the password will be able to open the folder or its contents.

Is there a password lockout after entering too many incorrect passwords for a .dmg folder?

I entered three passwords for my .dmg folder before receiving a warning that said authentication error. I'm pretty sure I am now entering the right password, but it still won't open. I'm wondering if I've been locked out? I tried to shut down and restart the computer and do it again, but it's still not working.

In Pages 5.0.1 option to set password for editing document is gone when exporting as a pdf

In last version of Pages, I would make a proposal to a customer and then go to 'share' and then choose 'PDF' from the drop down. Next screen allowed me to choose the option of password protecting the document from being edited. This new version of Pages only seems to allow setting a password for opening the document. I do not need to password protect the document from being opened, just edited. Any help for this new problem? Apple always seems to remove features that are so helpful and useful when they 'upgrade' apps., very frustrating!

Pages '09 should still be in your Applications/iWork folder.
Archive/trash Pages 5, after Exporting your files to Pages '09, and rate/review it in the App Store, then get back to work.

MDT 2013: bootstrap.ini not applying username and password for share access

I customized my bootstrap.ini file to skip the welcome screen, set keyboard locale, and enter a service account username and password for share access. The welcome screen skip and keyboard locale work beautifully but it's not applying the share username/password/domain
at all.

Basics - Server 2008 R2 - SP1, WDS, MDT 2013
Well all, I've done this at least 20 times today and the deployment share info is still wrong...
Someone else built and messed with this thing so i'm trying to fix it. We have 2 MDT servers and 1 WDS that is on the Production MDT. I've turned the test MDT off.
It was working fine, until I updated the deployment share ... after adding some drivers for the surface pro 3 for the pxe boot

It continues to show up on the client as ||mdt901w8|deploymentshare$ (test server) (pipes for \ since it makes it a link and i'm new)
I've deleted all the .wim and associated files from all locations from the deployment share\boot folder and from the wds remote install\boot\x64\images folder where they are instead of the remote install\boot\images folder that everyone refers to.
I really can't figure this one out... I know it's something simple I'm over looking but I can't see it..

It's in your Keychain on the computer you usually use to connect to your network - the "kind" will be "AirPort Network Password".
Your Keychain can be opened by using the Keychain Access program. It is in your Utilities Folder.
Open Keychain Access, and type airport in the search field. You will see a number of entries. Choose the one with the name of your wireless network, open it, and check the box next to "show password". Before it reveals itself you will be asked for your login password - the one you use to log in to your MacBook.
The network password will appear in the box.
Quit Keychain Access.

TS1398 my password for my wiifi on my ipod touch isnt working for some reason, i tried all my passwords and nothing is working, i never had a problem before please help. is there a way to somehow recover it or change the password.

For music problem:
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Unsync all music and resync
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
For wifi
Does the iOS device connect to other networks?
Does the iOS device see the network?
Any error messages?
Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
