    Hello everyone,
    I'm trying to upgrade a WLS 6.1 SP2 with WLP 4.0 SP2 instance to WLS 7.0 SP2

Is this happening because the private key is actually encrypted with the
password? It was working, although the KeyEncrypted is not set to true and
the startup script for WLS 6.1 instance did have a line

something else? The physical machine the instances are located is the same

    Thanks Tony - it worked!!

It may be because the private key is both unprotected and in DER format.
There are some things to try:
    1) Convert the private key file from a DER file to a PEM file and try
    that:
    a) Follow the for converting an unprotected private key at:
    http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs70/adminguide/utils.html#1143743
    b) Look at the resulting PEM file, it should look something like
    this:
    -----BEGIN RSA PRIVATE KEY-----
    -----END RSA PRIVATE KEY-----
(Be sure there is no extra lines or whitespace after thefooter)
    >
    c) Change your configuration to point at the PEM file
If that doesn work, then you can try protecting the key with apassword
    using
the wlkeytool utility (It should be in the server/bin directory). The
    tool should prompt
for a password to use to protect it:
    wlkeytool inputkey.pem outputkey.pem
Then change your configuration to use the protected private key, andset
    the passwod to use.

  • Single sign-on and different usernames and passwords

    Hello,
I am building a Portal with WLPS 3.5 and WLS 6.0. I tried to get
information about the background of single sign-on.
I understand, that I need a Realm (i.e. LDAP Realm) to authenticate the
user for the first login to the portal (with username and password).
Now I would like to integrate my webmail-programm (to get emails from
Lotus Notes via Internet) as a portlet.
For my understanding the user has to authorizate to get access to webmail.
Therefore I create a ACL for webmail and this ACL is assigned to my
    security Realm.
I would like the portlet to show after login the number of mails for the
specific user. But where are the username and password for webmail stored
and how are they received and forwarded?
I understand that my ACL included all users that have access to webmail
(i.e. all users). But I only want emails for the specific user.
Does WLS get all usernames and passwords while the first login? Do I have to
implement a algorithmen to get the specific username and password for the
    requested resource in my portlet?
Has anyone solved a similar problem or can tell me where I can get more
information. I read the WebLogic Security document but I cant find a
    answer to my questions.
    Thanks
    Lydia

    Lydia,
I'm not an expert in this area, but I can give you a start.
As for single sign-on, there are different levels. For single sign-on across web-apps,
the servlet spec requires this (section 12.6 of th 2.3 spec) and therefore Weblogic
    does this.
What you are talking about is single sign-on across back-end applications through
a web-app. BEA has partnered with Securant (just acquired by RSA) to provide this
kind of functionality. Browse to http://www.rsasecurity.com/products/ and look
at the ClearTrust product. BEA has also partnered with Netegrity (www.netegrity.com)
with their SiteMinder product. Neither is included in the Weblogic license. I'm
sure either vendor would be excited to explain how their product will solve your
problem if you give them a call.
As for where the username and passwords are stored, that is up to the realm. If
you are using the default WLPS RDBMSRealm, the username and encrypted password
are stored in the WLCS_USER table. If you are using LDAPRealm, they are stored
    in your LDAP server.
    Hope this was useful!

Now I try to unterstand the functionality of Single sign-on when a user
has different usernames and passwords for different applications.
Can someone explain where the usernames and passwords for a user are
stored (all in the LDAP-realm or a RDBMS-realm?) When a user access the
application how username and passwords are mapped? Or usernames and
passwords for all applications are the same and will be equalized?
Precisely I would like to get access to a mail-account for a specific

    Hi Venu,
Normally if you can see the UCM content in the admin console, it means the adapter is configured correctly and the placeholder should work. There's a couple of things I can suggest:
    1. Did you include the oracle-ucm-spi-app-lib.ear file in your project as documented under the heading Add a Reference to the UCM VCR Adapter Shared Library in the UCM VCR adapter installation docs ( [http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13155_01/wlp/docs103/ucm_adapter/install.html|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13155_01/wlp/docs103/ucm_adapter/install.html] )?
    2. Browse to a document in the repository in the admin console. Pick one of the fields there (e.g. IDC:Folder.dDocId), grab the value and run a query using the placeholder. Do you get a single result?
    3. The original poster (user8867138) mentions a query along the lines of returning all folders that has dDocAuthor = sysadmin. If your UCM system had 10,000 folders all created by sysadmin, the adapter might be timing out? IIRC, you can adjust the timeout in UCM.
    4. Did you try a similar query using Content Selector instead?
    5. If the WLP server domain is running on a separate machine, is UCM configured to accept connections from the WLP server but not your machine?
I would suggest getting the latest patches for WLP too as some of them are related to the UCM VCR adapter.
    Cheers,
    Cappa

  • Problems logging in user in WLPS.

    Hi,
I have changed the default database from 'cloudscpe' to 'oracle' for my WLPS installation
using the documentation. When i bring up my portal, although i'm able to create(register)
a new user and personalise the portal page for him/her, the moment i sign out
i can't sign back in again using any of the registered users. the registered user
does get added to the database tables but the sign-on procedure says 'Please provide
a valid user name and a password to log in.' I'm also not able to see the password
hint - the message i get is 'No reminder is available for the provided username.'
    - this hint also i can see in the database table 'wlcs_prop_text'.
    can anyone help??
    Runa.

    Hi Runa,
Did you load the sample data, as described at

    Hi,
I have changed the default database from 'cloudscpe' to 'oracle' for myWLPS installation
using the documentation. When i bring up my portal, although i'm able tocreate(register)
a new user and personalise the portal page for him/her, the moment i signout
i can't sign back in again using any of the registered users. theregistered user
does get added to the database tables but the sign-on procedure says'Please provide
a valid user name and a password to log in.' I'm also not able to see thepassword
hint - the message i get is 'No reminder is available for the providedusername.'
    - this hint also i can see in the database table 'wlcs_prop_text'.
    can anyone help??
    Runa.

  • Default Encrypted  Password

    Dear All,
i want to insert encrypted Password of 'password' string into table user_dtl column PASSWORD .
How can i insert Encripted password into table.
    Thanks

    Hi Vedant,
See the CUSTOM_HASH function that is installed with sample application in the APEX.
Here is the code for it:
    create or replace function custom_hash (p_username in varchar2, p_password in varchar2)
    return varchar2
    is
      l_password varchar2(4000);
      l_salt varchar2(4000) := 'XFSPL28ZTWEWWM6FHWMK68AG5NQVLU';
    begin
-- This function should be wrapped, as the hash algorithm is exposed here.
-- You can change the value of l_salt or the method of which to call the
-- DBMS_OBFUSCATOIN toolkit, but you much reset all of your passwords
-- if you choose to do this.
    l_password := utl_raw.cast_to_raw(dbms_obfuscation_toolkit.md5
      (input_string => p_password || substr(l_salt,10,13) || p_username ||
        substr(l_salt, 4,10)));
    return l_password;
    end;
i want to insert encrypted Password of 'password' string into table user_dtl column PASSWORD.The above function will give the encrypted password which can be inserted into USER_DTL as follows:
INSERT INTO USER_DTL(USERNAME,PASSWORD) VALUES(:P1_USERNAME, CUSTOM_HASH(:P1_USERNAME,:P1_PASSWORD))Be sure that PASSWORD column in USER_DTL is of type VARCHAR2 and of adequate length as to accommodate the encrypted password.
    Hope it helps!
    Regards,
    Kiran

  • It seems when i try to login to Netflix it comes back with email id or password is incorrect (code 117), i can't find anything to fix this, help!!!

I've tried everything, reset, unplug, even have it connected via Ethernet, always the same outcome!  I can login on our iMac with no problem!

Finally someone who found the solution. I've been searching for the answer for a while, some people suggest resetting the Apple TV, reverting to the previous firmware, changing password to all numbers, you name it.
The right answer is: make sure to have a password with both letters and numbers. Someone at Apple must have thought to override the password requirements of Netflix, without telling anyone else. They need better change management procedures!

  • RBACx Encrypted Password Change Utility

    Hi all,
In the OIA/SRM installation guide, there is a reference to a tool, to find out the password of rbacxservice.
"Oracle Identity Analytics utilizes an encrypted password when communicating with the database.
To change the default database password, use the RBACx Encrypted Password Change Utility"
Could you please help me finding out this tool.
    Many thanks in advance.
    Warm regards,
    Manipradeep Sunku.

The mentioned tool only encrypts the password so that you don't have to store a plain text password in the config file. It does not decrypt it. The default rbacxservice password is rbacxservice.
The tool does not come with the OIA/SRM distribution so if you need it, you will need to contact support.

  • ACS 5.3 Default Backup Password

When doing a backup on any of the ACS 5.x appliances by default the backup is encrypted with PGP. What password is used for that? Is it configurable?

It is not configurable and that information wasnt made public. However, when you restore it should be able to decrypt it just fine.
You can try opening a TAC case but when I was in TAC wasnt able to find that key either.
    Thanks,
    Tarik Admani

  • Forgot password to access my Airport Time Capsule, can't restore Time Machine backup

It is stupid, I know, but after the first time I setup Time Machine in my Airport Time Capsule (6 months ago) i never had to use the password because it stayed stored in my Keychain.
Anyway, couple days ago I had to format the hard drive of my MacBook Pro and I did it thinking that I had a complete data backup stored in my Airport Time Capsule (encrypted data). It was late when I realized that I did not have the password written/stored anywhere. Nothing to do about it, just move on and start all over again.
I need to clean up my Airport Time Capsule and set it to factory default. I already accepted that I will lose all my data and it is okay. So far all I found was how to reset the wifi user/password but nothing about deleting stored data or reset to factory default without having the encrypted password. Can you please help me? Thanks in advance!

The encrypted data is not related to the Time Capsule.. that is purely Time Machine.
Very sorry for you.. it is one big danger when you encrypt.
    Reset to factory.
    Factory reset universal
Power off the TC.. ie pull the power cord or power off at the wall.. wait 10sec.. hold in the reset button.. be gentle.. power on again still holding in reset.. and keep holding it in for another 10sec. You may need some help as it is hard to both hold in reset and apply power. It will show success by rapidly blinking the front led. Release the reset.. and wait a couple of min for the TC to reset and come back with factory settings. If the front LED doesn’t blink rapidly you missed it and simply try again. The reset is fairly fragile in these.. press it so you feel it just click and no more.. I have seen people bend the lever or even break it. I use a toothpick as tool.
N.B. None of your files on the hard disk of the TC are deleted.. this simply clears out the router settings of the TC.
Wipe the hard disk. Open the airport utility go to the disk tab. Click on erase disk.
Select just quick erase.. it just deletes the file table and is not secure but fine for your purposes.
