"password incorrect" when trying to connect to wifi

I can successfully connect to my WPA2 encoded wifi connection from many different devices in the household. One of the iPhone4s' cannot connect though, after entering password, it very quickly comes back with an alert "Password incorrect for [endpoint name]". It can happily connect to any other wifi network. An other iPhone4s can succesfully connect. I have tried most of the voodoo tricks listed here (entering wi-fi password with quotes, resetting phone network settings, restarting router), to no avail. Which device should I be returning?

Does the iPod connect to other networks?
Does the iPod see the network?
Any error messages?
Do other devices now connect?
Did the iPod connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on the router
- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

You may need to check the settings for your iTunes Store on the iPad and iPhone.
Sign out of the iTunes account, restart the device and sign back in.

  • Ever since I downloaded ios7, my iPhone 4s keeps freezing when trying to connect to wifi. Help?

My iPhone 4s keeps freezing whenever I try to connect to wifi. It either won't even open wifi, and when it does, it'll freeze as soon as wifi is open. I can force quit the settings area, and it unfreezes the iPhone, but it doesn't fix the settings area, which is still frozen. I have come to points when I can connect to wifi, but it only lasts about 30 seconds before dropping the connection. This happens everywhere, even at home, when I'm right next to the router. What should I do?

Try resetting your settings. Settings > General > Reset.
I had this happen shortly after updating and it worked when I reset.
    Doesn't delete anything though.

  • Password error when trying to connect icloud for PC to Outlook 2007

    Hello,
I have somme password problems when I try to connect to Outlook 2007 with ICloud 2.1.2 for PC on Windows 7
When trying to creating connection to Outlook, I have always the message: invalid password or AppliID.
I try to disconnect, then reconnect: nothing done.
I try to reboot: nothing done.
Note: I need to use the Administrator mode for starting Icloud.exe: otherwise impossible to open the Icloud utility

It's any network. If I reset network settings, I can connect at home, but I get the "wrong password" but not at work. Then, if I reset it again, I can conect at work, but not at home.
Only way to switch Wifi network is through a "reset network settings" operation.
On my wive's iPhone 5 this problem does not exist. She can commute seemlessly among WIFI networks.

  • IPad displaying an Hotspot Error message when trying to connect to wifi. How do I fix?

When attempting to connect to the public wifi network at work on my iPad, I started getting the following error message today: "Error Opening Page - Hotspot login cannot open the page because the network connection was lost."  In order to utilize the network, you must read and accept a user agreement, which will not load and instead displays the error.  I have already tried turning of the wifi and turning it back on and rebooting the device.  This has never been a problem before, and I have had my iPad for several months now.  Further, my iPhone is connecting to the same network with no problem.  How do I correct this problem??  Thank you so much for any help provided!

If you're unable to join a nearby Wi-Fi network
Try restarting your Wi-Fi router by turning it off and then on again.
Note: If your ISP also provides cable or phone service, check with them before attempting this step to avoid interruption of service.
When joining an 802.11n Wi-Fi network, ensure that your router is properly configured. See this article for more information.
Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Note: This will reset all network settings, including passwords, VPN, and APN settings.
    Hope this helps,
    Mario

  • My iPhone 4 blinks light grey and grey when trying to connect to wifi.

I have restarted my Wifi, no change. I have reset my network settings, no change. I have reset my phone and turned it off multiple times, no change. Other people in my household have no problem connecting to the Wifi. It has not been able to connect all day. I have had Wifi issues before, and I just got another phone from Apple not too long ago....maybe 3 months ago. Please help!

Also! Everytime I type a password in it says unable to join. I am typing in the password correctly. My neighbors wifi password is not working either. But they are still connected.

  • 'Alert: No Internet Connection' Error when trying to connect to Wifi networks

    Hi,
I have a 13' MBP late 2012, reccently I've been unable to connect to any secured Wifi network after updating to the OSX 10.9.2,
    I've tried everything-
    - Restarting
    - Resetting the PRAM
    - an SMC reset
    - Restarting in Safe Mode
    - Repairing Hard Drive & Permissions in Disk Utility
    - And even reinstalling: Maverick OSX 10.9.2 (Combo) Update
    - I've even compared my laptops settings with my Sister's laptop who has also downloaded the update but does not have the same problem, they are all the same as far as I can see.
The problem is prevelant in every Wifi network I try to connect to, the only reason I am able to connect to the internet at all right now is that I've disabled the WEP key setting for my router.
It just keeps repeating the 'Alert: No Internet Connection' or a 'Connection Timeout' warning...
Any help would be greatly appriciated!
    Thanks

  • 'invalid password' resonse when trying to connect to a wireless network

I purchased a macbook air a few days ago. I have used pc for years, although during college (1990 - 1996) i used apple almost exclusively. I have a wireless network at home which 3 other pc laptops are connected to. I am however unable to connect my MBA to this network in spite of many attempts. the tech guys in my office tell me to reinstall the mac OS that came with my MBA. Am not sure what to do? has anyone had this experience before? I have my suspicions that the keychain utility is part of the problem.....am clutching at straws here though....HELP!

Walidjam, A few questions, Are you on 10.5.8 or Snow Leopard. Have you ever successfully hooked to this network?
Is the network WEP or WPA2 Personal. Does the encryption type on your MBair definition match that of your wireless router?
