Password Keeper - Character changes

Hi everyone,
I've been using a Blackberry for the last couple of years and I love them to bits!
I recently got my hands on a new blackberry Curve 8310 running v4.2.2.181 (platform 2.5.0.35) (recently to me is about 1 year.)
I'm security minded but lazy at the same time, this has resulted in me using the same strong 11 digit password (alpha, numbers & Special chars) for almost everything.
Wanting to help change this, i have started using the Password Keeper on my blackberry and everythings going fine, i've populated it with details of almost every online account and physical account i have.
The thing is now I want to start using the "Generate Random Password" function to its best effect.. only one thing is buggin me....
I've done the math assosiated with cryptography at college.. adding more character length to your password is cryptographicaly stronger than using a wider range of characters.
That said an 11 digit passwod using lowercase letters, numbers and special characters is stronger than a 10 digit password using lowercase letters, uppercase letters, numbers and special characters.
I'm looking through the options on the password keeper and it allows me to choose if i want to use numbers, if i want to use letters and if i want to use special characters, but it does not seem to have an option to let me decide if I ONLY want to use uppercase or lowercase.... if i select YES to alphabetical characters its uses both.
Does anyone know of ANY WAY i can change this?
I idealy want to use letters as well as numbers and special characters but not uppercase letters as all they really do is add confusion.
Thanks in advance guys.
P.S (Sorry about any spelling errors in the above, im writing this from a public machine and the have no openoffice or MS office here for me to spellcheck this with before posting.)

If I were you, I'd try and look for a third party application that deals with passwords. Maybe one of them will provide the features you are asking for as far as generating passwords is concerned.

  • My apple ID password keeps changing without my authority!! Please help!

My apply ID password keeps getting changed on me. I get an email alert saying my ID has been changed, and then when I go to look at that email wondering how it got changed when I never changed it, it shows that the email is now in the "Trash" folder in my email....so I go to my trash box and then the email is not even there. I have taken screen shots of all of this happening(from the email alert to the message being in the trash). It is happening literally once to twice a week! I have changed all the security questions and passwords. I have even called apple and they could not help me. Anyone have any advice?

    Hi!,
I'm sorry to hear about your situation!
Try logging in from another computer and changing the security questions to highly specific answers (make sure to write them down).
If you use a credit card with your account, you may consider temporarily removing it from your account (you can use the application iTunes (in the menu bar: store > view account > view payment information) for this), as well as checking whether unauthorised purchases have been made.  If so, you may consider contacting law enforcement services.
I hope you are able to resolve your issue!,
    Kind regards,

  • Why does my password keep changing?

My apple Id password keep changing every 2 days. How do I prevent it?

Do you share your Apple ID with anyone else? If so, could they be changing it? Your Apple ID password does not change on its own.

Of you're being phished. There are a lot of phishing scams going around right now with bad guys trying to get access to apple ID's.
Anytime you want to verify the info, do not click on any links in the mail, but open up iTUnes on your computer and check things out that way.
If you want to verify if anything is wrong http://www.apple.com/support/appleid/contact/
contact apple on your own and see what they say.

  • I keep receiving emails saying my apple id password has been changed when I havent changed it? Nobody else has access to my emails or can answer my security questions??

I keep receiving emails saying my apple id password has been changed when I havent changed it? Nobody else has access to my emails or can answer my security questions??
I have changed my email password aswell as having to keep changing my apple is password an it keeps changing?

Sounds like you follow good practices.
This has been going around for some time in various forms, a number of users have asked about it and the best advice is if in doubt go doirectly to Apple, not links in the email.  Calling Apple or using the Apple site is always the best approach.
A few have even noticed very slight misspellings in the emails, things like Appel instead of Apple...most people don't even notice those.
Anyway, safe computing and have a good day.

  • My password keeps getting hacked, how can i disable my account and start a new one and not lose all the stuff I already have?

    Hi All,
I need help, my password keeps getting hacked, and I keep changing the password, and changing all my security questions. I have changed everything I can. How can I disable my account, but not lose everything that I already have in there? Is this possible or do I have to start all over again?

You might have some better luck if you call your country number from http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57 and ask to speak with the Account Security Team.

  • Help with Password Keeper

I keep a list of passwords in my BlackBerry using the Password Keeper application.  When I enter my password, I am getting the following message:
“A password entry created on 1/28/2008 is protected by an old password.  Please enter the old password to convert the entry:”  If I select Delete Entry, it gives me the same message but changes the date of the entry.
The password I am entering is correct but I don’t know the password entry created on the listed date(s). I have used the same password since I received this BlackBerry.  Password Keeper will not accept any password that I enter.
PLEASE HELP!  I have numerous passwords stored that I can't access.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

    absolutely,
I would recommend Desktop Manager, version 5, withOUT the Media Manager. Download Desktop Manager from here:

  • Java-administrator password keeps getting locked

    Hi,
We have a portal 7.3 in which the Java-administrator password keeps getting locked. I can't see anything in the log traces in NWA. The only thing I've found is in security_audit logfile which doesn't really say much:
    #2.0 #2014 07 17 05:47:03:913#+0200#Info#/System/Security/Audit/PrincipalModification#

    Please advice,
    Thanks.

    Hi,
there exists a trace location that should provide useful information for such cases. It is described in SAP note:
    1493272 - A user gets locked automatically
My suggestion is add the location com.sap.security.core.userlocking as
specified in the attachment to the note and once it is added, set that
location to DEBUG and wait for the user to be locked again. Hopefully additional information concerning the origin of the bad credentials will be written to traces.
Exactly how you capture the traces depends on the frequency in which
the user becomes locked. For example if the user becomes locked every
few minutes, after adding the location in the configtool and
restarting the system, I suggest using the Security Troubleshooting
Wizard to do so. Refer to note 1332726 - Troubleshooting Wizard and
its attachments. Create a custom incident that is a copy of the
Authentication incident and add this location
com.sap.security.core.userlocking  to the newly created incident
Set the wizard to use this new incident for trace collection and wait
for the user to become locked. Then immediately stop the wizard's
    trace collection
    I
f the locking occurs less frequently than every few minutes, it is
preferable to use the NWA to adjust the severity of these locations
and their sublocations to DEBUG and wait for the issue to reoccur

issue has captured in the traces

If you're having trouble making changes to files that are inside your home folder (represented by a house icon in the sidebar of a Finder window), or if you can't get changes to the settings of an application to stick, then please see below.
    Back up all data.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, they may not work as described.
    Step 1
If you have more than one user, and the one in question is not an administrator, then go to Step 2.
Triple-click anywhere in the following line on this page to select it:
    { sudo chflags -R nouchg,nouappnd ~ $TMPDIR..; sudo chown -R $UID:staff ~ $_; sudo chmod -R u+rwX ~ $_; chmod -R -N ~ $_; } 2>&-
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting.
You'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command may take a few minutes to run, or perhaps longer if you have literally millions of files in your home folder. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1, if you prefer not to take it, or if it doesn't solve the problem.
Boot into Recovery. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open.
In the Terminal window, type this:
    res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password dialog will open. You’re not going to reset a password.
In the dialog, select the startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if it's not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if it's not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.

  • Numbers repeatedly prompts for document password on every change

When working with a password protected numbers speadsheet stored in iCloud, Numbers suddenly started repeatedly requesting the document's password everytime a change is made to the document.  This constant password prompting renders Numbers unusable.
I've intentionally not allowed Keychain to store the documents password for privacy reasons.
I'm using 10.9 on a Mac Mini with Numbers 3.0.1.
    Please advise,
    Regards,
    Zephyr

Yes it ceases to ask to the password every time a change is made, but that sort of defeats the purpose of protecting the document.
It also seems now that when you select a cell for input, Numbers only takes a single keystroke at a time, as if you hit "1" then hit "enter".  Numbers won't allow multiple keystrokes when editing a cell.
I suspect this may have somthing to do with the way iCloud keeps files in Sync.  This wasn't an issue until today - worked beautifully until now.
    Any advice is greatly appreciated.

    Zephyr

  • Password Keeper App

Hi I had a BB Z10 with the Password Keeper App installed. I changed phones to a non BB and took the sim card ut of my old BB to use in my new phone.
When I turned my old BB back on to access some information on the device I noticed that Password Keeper was still there and active. I wanted to transfer my passwords manually to my new phone but inadvertently deleted the password Keeper App from the old BB device.
I added the app again and put in the master password but it was empty. Is there any way I can recover all my passwords.
    Any help appreciated.

Thanks - no sadly I did not have a back up.
I guess I have learnt the lesson the hard way

  • When I try to install flash player on my mac, I get to the panel that asks for my name and password, and it will not take my password.  tried changing to a new password and same result

When I try to install flash player on my Mac, I get to the panel that asks for my name and password, but it will not take my password.  Tried changing the password, but same result.  Suggestions??

This password prompt is presented by your operating system, and is intended to keep you from accidentally installing software.
If this is your personal machine and you don't need a password to log into the computer when it first starts up, you can probably leave the password blank and click OK to get past this prompt.  If this is your personal machine and your normal password isn't working, check to make sure that CAPS LOCK is off, and type the password carefully.
If this is your work machine and it's asking for an Administrator password, well, you'll need to have a conversation with your friendly IT person.
