Password locked Portege Z30-A-10Z - BIOS needed.

Anyone have a back up bios for a Portege Z30-A-10Z laptop.
My laptop bios has locked me out with password and need to program a new bios chip with new bios.
I cant prove ownership with Toshiba with original receipt so they wont help as I purchased it from ebay a wile back and the seller is no longer registered :(

It is very stupid situation now. If your notebook is locked by BIOS password you have big problem now and nobody here can help you. BIOS password must be removed by authorized service provider.
BIOS password is very important security feature so any problem with locked machine must be handled by ASP. There are several different methods for BIOS password removal and it has nothing to do with BIOS backup or some kind of new BIOS installation.

I have got a Activation Lock on my iPhone and I need to get it activated. I don't know what Apple ID I was using with my iPhone. It shows as U***@h******.uk which is too short to be my email address. I have reset all my Apple ID passwords and none are activating my iPhone. I have also been into the apple store and they have tried to find out the Apple ID my iPhone was using but this was not successful. The serial number of my iPhone is: C32JN641DTWF

You are going to need to change the email address you use with your old ID. Once you have got access to your old account you will then log into both accounts at the same time on your Mac and transfer your data to a single account. We can do this later, but need you to get access to your old account first.

yes did you buy it of somebody or a well known company such as apple or carphone warehouse?
and i mean the phone would have been activated in the first place with the sim card you get given when you first get the phone.
trying to activate the phone with another sim card that you did not get when you brought the phone may result in you not being able to activate it

  • Dell E5530 BIOS password locked!

The password should work, if it doesn't it normally means a Motherboard replacement is needed. When you got the password was it emailed to you or did you note it down? As it's case sensitive and - I'm not sure if the agent told you this - when the password is entered in the field you need to hold CTRL and then press ENTER for it to take affect. If you haven't tried that, try it and let me know if it works. If it doesn't and you confirmed the password with the agent, then you will need a Motherboard replacement to fix this. There's 3 options available to you for a replacement:1. If the system is in warranty then you could get a replacement fitted by a Dell engineer (dependant on the warranty it may take place the next business day).2. If you are out of warranty then you could still get a replacement fitted by a Dell engineer, but you would...

    Hi Vute,
    Welcome to the Spiceworks Community!
I'm a Dell employee working on Spiceworks.
The BIOS will need to be unlocked using a password reset. The only way to get the password reset is to call in to Dell technical support. If you go to http://www.dell.com/support and click on "Contact Us", then "Technical Support" you will find the telephone number to dial for your country and they should be able to help get the password reset.
Hope this helps. Any other questions let me know

  • Re: Portege Z30-A - Bios update 3.80-WIN using Win 7 64bit

    Hi,
    I have a Toshiba Portege Z30-A
Maybe someone was able to perform the upgrade bios in windows 7 64 bit?

I upgraded to 3.70 EC 1.4 as soon as I got hands on my Z30t-A and when I noticed the 3.80 was available I downloaded the zip file. None of the 15 files has started the upgrade process.
I run Windows 8.1, but the BIOS upgrade should function the same as for WIN 7.
Toshiba must have forgotten to add a setup.exe or something.
I haven't seen a release note, but I'm a big fan of fresh software.

  • Fingerprint Utility on Portege Z30-A-12Q is not working

    Hello,
I need help regarding this issue :
I performed a fresh windows 8.1 install, the same version as before, but this time i chose UEFI over BIOS. When i used BIOS the fingerprint sensor was working fine, but now it says "Failed to connect to the sensor".
I am using Toshiba Portege Z30-A-12Q i5-4200 256 GB SSD, or the PT243E model. I searched the forums and i found a issue similar with another Toshiba R product which was resolved by adding a firewall exception.
I added fingerprint utility in firewall exception, even disabled firewall all the way, but still the same problem. Also in device manager i have under Biometric devices Validity Sensors (WBF) (PID=0010).
I also checked in BIOS to see if it it enabled and it is.
The only thing i changed in BIOS are Secureboot (made it on) and chose CSM (for UEFI), but i think these settings have no relevance to the problem since they are used for booting.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver 3 times.
Please help me with this problem.
    Thank you very much,
    Andrei Chitescu

This is very interesting : what do you mean by "Installed the chipset driver two times" ?
I have exactly the same problem with a Portg R30A-19Q.
Changed over from Win 7 to Win 8.1 (one of the worst decisions in my life ! What a disappointment !
Productivity down by a factor 3 or 4 ! But this is another subject !).
Tried to reinstall the fingerprint recognition, which did not accept my fingerprints (because "already used on another account").
Called French technical support, who recommended uninstalling the fingerprint recognition software, which would erase my previous Win 7 fingerprints, left over in the BIOS.
Then after reinstalling the software, it did not work any better.
Called again technical support, who gave me a "confidential" link to a fingerprint clean up software, that would remove the fingerprints left over in the BIOS.
This did not work either, because the installation could not find ATWBFClient.dll.
Called again technical support, and was told that there was no other solution than reinstalling Win7, then erasing my fingerprints under Win 7, then reinstalling Win 8.1, and recreating new fingerprints ! What a nightmare !
If anything can be done Under Win 8.1, I shall try ten times !
    Thanks !

  • T60 supervisor password lock

I forgot my supervisor password, and I had a power on password on my T60. It is now requesting a password to go into the BIOS, and the tamper lock has been activated by disconnecting the CMOS battery. Is it asking for the supervisor password now?

  • Satellite Z30 vs Portege Z30

From what I can tell (and have confirmed with Toshiba Customer support) the Satellite Z30 is identical to the Portege Z30 except for the following differences:
    * The Portege Z30 has Active Management Technology (AMT), allowing certain remote administration for enterprise environments
    * The Portege Z30 has a 3 year warranty (as opposed to the Satellite's 1 year)
    * The Portege Z30 is preinstalled with Windows 7 and Windows 7 system restore partitions (and Windows 8.1 media provided) whereas the Satellite comes preinstalled with Windows 8.1 system and restore partitions
My question is whether the roll out of an image taken from a Portege Z30's Windows 7 installation will transfer to Satellite Z30 machines? I suspect there will be no issues with the hardware, but am curious about the Windows activation and whether the SLP key on the Satellites will match the Portege.

I don't have time to check exact difference because these two models because notebooks are country specific products and it can happen that offer in your country is not the same as in some other and you can check this by your local dealer.
Anyway, at first I must say that that Portege notebooks are business line products. Satellite models are more for people who don't have some special needs and mostly common notebook users.
With Portege line Toshiba offers some benefits like better hardware, more options, very often two operating systems, maybe some additional software and of course different warranty conditions.
According to this Portege notebooks are more expensive.
Back to your question: recovery image is specific image designed for certain notebook model.
I don't know which Portege do you mean exactly. Toshiba offers Z30-A and Z30T-A. For instance Z30-A is offered as 6 different models. You know it is not easy to say how it will works.
Theoretically you can try to install this image and see what will happen.
I don't know if you will be so lucky to find someone here who can confirm that such installation will be 100% OK.

  • Cannot connect 2 external monitors via port replicator using Portege Z30-16U

    Hi All
I need hell I just moved from a other laptop to the Portege Z30-16U, I have spent hours trying to connect my 2 external monitors to my Hi-Speed Port replicator III 120W but my laptop will only see one monitor.
I have been using 2 external monitors with my laptop for yrs as I do a lot or reading and I do not want to use only one and the laptop screen.
I have tried VGA cables and mix of a VGA and a HDMI but nothing is working.
Can anyone tell me how I can connect and view 2 external monitors with this laptop and port replicator, I cannot believe it is not possible it would make no sense that Toshiba would be so technilogically behind other laptop manufacturers.
    Thanks
    Liga

    Hi
I am not familliar with the Portreplicator of Z30, but the general behaviour of the dual-displayconnector replicators is that 1 can be used.
    Not 2 simultaneously.
I may be wrong and you should easily be able to check this - use only 1 at a time.
    First one, then the other.
If both works when used alone, then my suspicion is right.
    Hope this helps!

    Hi!
I need to fix my iPad on IOS 7.
It has the password locked and says connect to iTunes I did, and synced it. Also tried to restore with backup from last May.
I know how to get it restored so the password fixes but...
The computer says "Turn off Find My iPad before restoring"
If I can't access the iPad's Settings how will I turn it off?
    Please! Help!

It also may take a bit for Apple servers to update your information. You are sure it is this iPad that you removed from your Apple ID?
I would wait an hour or so and try it again. You may want to put it in Recovery Mode:

  • I recently inherited a macbook pro when my good friend passed away. the screen is password locked. is there any way around the login without knowing the password???

How can I get past the password locked login without the password

The first thing you should do with a second-hand computer is to erase the internal drive and install a clean copy of OS X. You — not the previous owner — must do that. How you do it depends on the model, and on whether you already own another Mac. If you're not sure of the model, enter the serial number on this page. Then find the model on this page to see what OS version was originally installed.
    1. You don't own another Mac.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.4 or 10.5, you need a boxed and shrink-wrapped retail Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6) installation disc, which you can get from the Apple Store or a reputable reseller — not from eBay or anything of the kind. If the machine has less than 1 GB of memory, you'll need to add more in order to install 10.6. I suggest you install as much memory as it can take, according to the technical specifications.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.6, you need the installation media that came with it: gray installation discs, or a USB flash drive for some MacBook Air models. For early MBA models, you may need a USB optical drive or Remote Disc. You should have received the media from the previous owner, but if you didn't, order replacements from Apple. A retail disc, or the gray discs from another model, will not work.
To boot from an optical disc or a flash drive, insert it, then reboot and hold down the C key at the startup chime. Release the key when you see the gray Apple logo on the screen.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.7 or later, you don't need media. It should boot into Internet Recovery mode when you hold down the key combination option-command-R at the startup chime. Release the keys when you see a spinning globe.
    2. You do own another Mac.
If you already own another Mac that was upgraded in the App Store to the version of OS X that you want to install, and if the new Mac is compatible with it, then you can install it. Use Recovery Disk Assistant to create a bootable USB device and boot the new Mac from it by holding down the C key at the startup chime. You will need the Apple ID and password that you used to upgrade. Note that if your other Mac was never upgraded in the App Store, you can't use this method.
Once booted from the disc, the USB device, or Internet Recovery, launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the internal drive — not any of the volume icons nested beneath it. In the Partition tab, select the default options: a GUID partition table with one data volume in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format. This operation will permanently remove all existing data on the drive, which is what you should do.
After partitioning, quit Disk Utility and run the OS X Installer. When the installation is done, the system will automatically reboot into the Setup Assistant, which will prompt you to transfer the data from another Mac, its backups, or from a Windows computer. If you have any data to transfer, this is usually the best time to do it.
You should then run Software Update and install all available system updates from Apple. If you want to upgrade to a major version of OS X newer than 10.6, get it from the Mac App Store. Note that you can't keep an upgraded version that was installed by the previous owner. He or she can't legally transfer it to you, and without the Apple ID you won't be able to update it in Software Update or reinstall, if that becomes necessary. The same goes for any App Store products that the previous owner installed — you have to repurchase them.
If the previous owner "accepted" the bundled iLife applications (iPhoto, iMovie, and Garage Band) in the App Store so that he or she could update them, then they're linked to that Apple ID and you won't be able to download them without buying them. Reportedly, Apple customer service has sometimes issued redemption codes for these apps to second owners who asked.
If the previous owner didn't deauthorize the computer in the iTunes Store under his Apple ID, you wont be able to  authorize it under your ID. In that case, contact iTunes Support.

  • HT201263 Unable to update or restore due to password lock.

I have an Ipod touch 4g (front and rear facing camera). I bought it last year and synced it to a laptop i no longer have now that I use Itunes on the device itself. I use my ipod at the gym i work at to play music for the entire gym. Someone decided to play around with it and add a password to it without telling me. Needless to say, my Ipod is locked and since I do not have the laptop that it was originally synced with I cannot use it now. I have tried the steps on your website and have been unable to reslove the issue, but each time it comes up that Itunes cannot sync due to password lock. I can't have the password sent to an an email because Ipod's don't have that function for some odd reason. I need to get this thing working. Help me out.

Is there a way to put a password lock on folders?
I need it so when you open the folder you're immediately prompted to enter a password, without even being able to see the folder's contents.

    You don't.
The password is on the encrypted disk image.
Any folders that you wish to have password protected you place in the encrypted disk image.

  • Removing password lock from enterprise email account

I have left my last company that had an enterprise email account.  When implemented, they put a password lock on my Blackberry which requires me to log in every 5 or 10 minutes if not being used.  I have contacted them, IT support is in India, and requested they remove this along with the email.  After many calls, it appears my email is gone but the password lock is not.
Thye said it was up to my carrier (Verizon) to remove, Verizon says they have no access to this and it is the user's employer to remove it.
My last conversation with the IT department was they told me to do a complete erase of the Blackberry which would remove all contacts and saved email, something I am reluctant to do because if I do this and then restore everything using the BB utilities, I assume the same password block will return.
Any suggestions?  There's nothing on the BB I can find to remove email accounts and there is a padlock icon at the password setup area.
    Thanks.

  • Password Lock Option Removed

I need to be able to lock my blackberry with a password and I had to be able to just hold down the A key to do this, but after I downloaded the software upgrade to 5.0.0.508 locks the keyboard, not the phone. Also it's darn near impossible to unlock the keyboard with the mute key because I have a case on my phone. I have to pull the case off to get it to unlock.
How can I get it back to just the password lock when I hold down the A key? I've tried to go into speed dial keys and update it there, but it won't let me change that one.
    Thanks!

The posts I’ve seen on the subject all seem to deal with the convenience keys, that is not what I’m looking for.  I’m sorry if I’m missing the “thousands” of posts on this issue, but I can’t find one that addresses my problem.
Last week, I was able to hold the A key down and, because I have the password enabled, it would lock the phone with password protection.  I could then push any key, and the password prompt would come up so I could unlock the phone.
However, after I ran the software update this week, now when I hold down the A key – it simply locks the keyboard, not the phone.  Then, the only way to unlock the keyboard is to hold down the mute key – which is really hard to do on my phone because there is a case surrounding it, so I end up having to take off the case to push the mute key and then unlock the phone.
I want to be able to use the A key to lock the phone with password like I could last week. How do I set this up?
