Password Manager & Outlook Profiles

I have two seperate Outlook profiles with different names in two seperate PST files with different passwords
I want to use the ThinkVantage Password Manager to provide the correct password for each of the two Outlook profiles
At the moment, I can only save one password in TPM for Outlook
Let's say I store the password for profile 1 in TPM. If I want to use profile 1, then everything works well
If I want to use profile 2, after selecting profile 2 in Outlook then TPM will only fill in the saved password for profile 1 which is the wrong password for profile 2
I do not have this problem with web sites such as HotMail etc.
TPM gives me a list of e-mail accounts to choose, I pick the one I want and it always has the correct password
This happens with a variety of systems
Outlook 2003 or 2007
Xp or Vista
TPM current and previous releases
How have you managed to resolve this?
Any suggestions gratefully received :-) thank you
Nigel

Does anyone have any ideas, suggestions, rumours or experience for this please?
Best wishes
Nigel

  • Cannot find the Outlook profile in the Desktop Manager

Hi, I treid to sync my contact number in my BB with outlook 2007 but in the synchornization menu when I chose to sync my contact there is not out look profile in the box so I don't know if its the problem of my outlook2007 or I need to do some config with my desktop manager?
I have 2 profile in for my outlook but none of them appear in the drop box when i select to sync my address book.
    Thank you

I beleive it pulls the profile information from the Control Panel | Mail information. If you go into Control Panel and go into the Mail icon, hit the Show Profiles button. Does your Outlook profile show up fine here? If so check the bottom part of the box and make sure the correct default profile is chosen.
It may be worth trying a clean uninstall of the Desktop Manager. Afterwards just reinstall 4.7. The clean uninstall steps can be found here

  • Office 365 Outlook prompts for password whenever outlook is restarted.

    Hello Folks,
We have recently deployed Office 365 (We had Kerio email system previously, But we did not do a migration).
    The problem is
Office 365 Outlook prompts for password whenever outlook is restarted
    Tried the following workarounds,
    1) Logon network security under More
Settings on the Microsoft Exchange Security tab
is set to a value other than Anonymous Authentication
    2) Tried removing the Generic Credentials from Credential manager.
The is issue is only for some users (Majority).
    (OS Platform: Windows 7/Windows 8).
    Thanks in Advance

The first thing I would recommend to do is to make sure that your install missing Outlook updates and try again.
I would also recommend asking them in this forum: https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/home?forum=outlook

  • Multiple outlook Profiles in Outlook 2010

    Hello,
I am going through an issue, where I have below set up.
    Exchange 2010, Exchange 2007
    Windows server 2008 R2
    Outlook 2010, Outlook 2007
    Issue:
The issue is, when multiple outlook profiles are configured on a single windows profile, Outlook is prompting credentials only the first time it is being accessed. From second time onward (without logging off the windows profile) its not asking for credentials
    any more.
    Lab Diagnosis:
We tested below scenarios for Outlook 2010
PC in domain, logging in with domain account, Outlook 2010 = no password asked second time onward
PC in domain, logging in with local admin account, Outlook 2010 = password asked every time when Outlook is opened.
PC in work group, logging in with local admin account, Outlook 2010 = password asked every time when Outlook is opened.
Interestingly, we also observed, that while with the first scenario, if the windows profile is logged off, and then re logged in, Outlook asks for password again (but only for the first time)
We tested below scenarios for Outlook 2007
All above scenarios do prompt for password every time Outlook is launched.
    What all we tried:
We tried the below items, but nothing helped us for Outlook 2010
Check marking always prompt for password in every outlook profile for Outlook 2010.
Credential manager in control panel =  Nothing found
Checked after adding the registry key for forcing password prompt
I want to know if this is a default behavior of Outlook 2010 to not prompt for password from second time onwards within the same windows profile session (with below scenario)?
Outlook 2010, Exchange 2010, mailbox account in Exchange 2010, Windows Server 2008, logging with domain account in windows, multiple outlook profiles accessing from same windows profile, PC joined to domain and do not want to log off windows profile.
    Thanks !

    Hi Sachin,
Do you mean the credential information is never required when switch Outlook profiles? If so, we need to confirm whether the problematic user can send/receive emails normally in each profiles without asking for password. Maybe you can
try to change a Outlook profile password to check whether the issue persists.
Additionally, since it is related to Outlook profile, this should be an Outlook issue instead of Exchange issue. Maybe we can also ask a question in Outlook forum for more professional answers:

  • Create fully automated Outlook profile at user first time logon to the windows

Hi experts, I do have one scenario and its quite urgent...
I have one email address, that to be act as a notification email from Outlook.
The thing is we need to have Outlook fully setup with profile and password when an user log in.
I have done the prf and plan to have it fired with VB script when user logon(using windows logon startup script function).
The prf can be successfully fired and its created profile in outlook, however the user credentials logon will be prompted everytime the user log on, and the user will not know the password, except us, email administrator.
This is carried out in :
    - Azure Windows server 2012
    - Outlook 2013
    - And the user will not access remotely to the server, they will only access to RDP, which we hosted our application.
(And the mentioned application will need to send some notification email to the users.
I hope i have not missed out anything. Anyone please shed some light for this.
    Your help is appreciated !

    Hi Melon,
    Thanks for quick reply !
Yes. I have setup prf file and not able to store any password in it. Our user will have to type in the password in the prompted windows. The thing is we are not exposing the password to the user. In fact, they are not able to view the windows screen as they
are only connect to RDP application.
Now we are using Exchange account and soon we will migrate our email server to Office 365.

  • Password Manager not working with any internet browsers

I have Thinkvantage password manager installed (v. 3.20.0311.00) on my Thinkpad X201. I am running Windows 7 professional, 64 bit. Password Manager works for all programs except IE8 or Mozilla Firefox (eg. works for Outlook, works for iTunes, etc.). When browsing, the program simply never pops up. It worked previously, and I still have many saved website login details, but it never logs in for me any more and new sites do not activate the program.
I have made sure that the add-on is enabled and I have checked the box next to "enable 3rd party browser extensions" in the advanced tab of internet options. I have also tried resetting internet explorer settings. As mentioned above, this in not only a problem with IE8; it also occurs with Firefox.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

Same problem here. I just recieved mine (Win 7 pro 64 bit, X201 Multitouch) last week and password manager not working at all in ANY web browser. It recorded my .net password just fine, but i can't get it to work in IE8. Who pays this kind of money for something that doesnt work?
    Fix this Lenovo!

  • Client Security Solution--and Password Manager--no longer autoruns

My T61 was working wonderfully until recent installation of antispyware, antivirus programs.
Prior to that, on boot, I could always see a brief CSS splash screen, and, more importantly, Password Manager would always kick in automatically, to load password data or to ask if I wanted it to remember something.
Now, although Password Manager remains an icon in the system tray, it not only does not detect need for input, hotkeys do nothing, despite being marked enabled.
I downloaded CSS 8.1 from the website (although this was still installed), and ran the "Repair", but still no joy.
    Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks again--as you suggested, a thread well worth reviewing.
In my case, I opted for the Rescue and Recovery Quick Restore--albeit with much fear and trepidation, since, unlike the roughly equivalent MS System Restore, this feature does not tell the user the date of the restore point that is being recreated.
As it turned out, this took me back to a point when Norton Internet Security was only partially removed--which created the added anxiety of (a) inability to connect to the Internet through Explorer or Outlook 2007 and (b) inability to launch any Office 2007 program!  (That last caused yet another twist, since the instructions I had previously followed to completely removed Norton were now saved as .docx files....)  Although Norton Internet Security was still present on the desktop, and ccApp.exe was obviously running (and unable to shut itself down on Restart), Add/Remove Programs (the first step in the removal process) would not work--"the module is missing."
Fortunately, I was able to download the Symantec Removal Tool through another computer onto a USB drive, copy the program to the T61, and run it there.  (Note that although Explorer would not load fully, Internet access of a sort was still available as witness System Update and Microsoft Update downloading without difficulty--though MS could not complete installing updates for Office 2007 with Norton still in the picture.  This matters because the Removal Tool accesses the net.)
Once Removal had done its thing, Explorer, Office 2007, and Password Manager again worked as before.
Sadly, I still don't know what the necessary ingredients for CSS/Password Manager are--there ought to be a listing of what files these otherwise excellent programs require.  And I'm not sure what approach to firewall, antivirus, and antispyware I ought to take, given the possibility that the programs I replaced Norton Internet Security with caused CSS/Password Manager grief.
    Sigh.

  • Outlook 2013 set cached mode "Mail to keep offline" to All for existing Outlook profiles via GPO or registry changes

We recently migrated from Office 2010 to Office 2013.  An annoying change is Outlook's "Use Cached Exchange Mode" setting that changes the previous setting of all email to partial email based on how old emails are.  This is confusing
for end users because if they have a 1GB mailbox size limit and they look at the properties of their mailbox, it shows the cached amount which is always then less than the full amount.  While they have a 1GB limit, the properties of their mailbox
might say 700MB because that's all that is cached, but meanwhile they can't send because they are actually over 1GB on the server side.
I want to set this cache setting to "All" for EXISTING profiles and new profiles.  I think I can do it with GPO for new profiles, but I don't see a way to set it for existing profiles.  I assume I have to do this with a registry setting.

    Hi,
The cached mode Sync Slider setting is maintained in the Outlook profile settings in the Windows registry. If you want to administer this setting via group policy, you can use the group policy templates, which are available from the Microsoft Web site. The
group policy template files are Outlk15.admx and Outlk15.adml. If you use group policy to manage this setting, the following registry data is utilized by Outlook.
    Key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Outlook\Cached Mode
    DWORD: SyncWindowSetting
Value: integer value (Decimal) specifying the number of months (use only the following values)
    0 = All (entire mailbox)
1 = One month of mailbox items
3 = three months of email items
6 = six months of email items
12 = twelve months of email items
    24 = twenty-four months of email items

  • Safari password management

I find Safari's password management weak, unless I don't get something. To clarify -- when I log into my univerisy web outlook, O2 account, etc. I want Safari to remember my login details. Is this possible? Thanks.

I've been using 1password to keep my passwords on my iPhone. It doesn't auto log you in, but it does keep track of the passwords you store in keychain. It's completely secure, encrypted, locked with a password, and even though you access it through safari, the data is only stored on your phone the whole time. Very cool.

  • BUG: ThinkVantage Password Manager and Word 2007 (possibly just on Windows 7)

    Hi,
With MS Support I have just been working though a problem with Microsoft Word 2007 on Windows 7 with Client Security Solutions 8.3 (which is Windows 7 compatible).
The problem is that in Word 2007 (and therefor emails in Outlook 2007) I cannot select text after pressing the Enter key for a new line.
After uninstalling/reinstalling office, removing printers, addins, templates, etc I have discovered that the problem goes away when I exit the Password Manager application.
I have tried adding winword.exe as an exception but that doesn't help. For now I have had to stop the Password Manager loading on startup.
Could Lenovo please advise with a fix for this issue.

Im having this Problem with my Mouse on Video games and other Applications!
I was going to try to do what you stated fixed the problem at First
The document suggests changing some registry values to
disable this high resolution behavior. Thus I did just
that and added the following 2 entries to
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\HID\Vid_x
    xxx&Pid_yyyy\<instance_ID>\Device Parameters
    VScrollHighResolutionDisable = 1
    HScrollHighResolutionDisable = 1
However i cant seem to find
    VScrollHighResolutionDisable = 1
    HScrollHighResolutionDisable = 1
Am i suppose to Create them? Are they Dwords? or what If anyone could please message me on Skype Aaronroy12 if you have a Solution because i looked into everything under HID and
havent found anything! I dont really need the Other things that kinda broke it again i only need to Fix it to play Games in which it Messes up on!

It allows me to save passwords.
It will not allow me to get into the program to check/edit/delete the password info.
Fingerprint software 3.3.2.43 is working correctly.
Also does not let it auto-fill.
    Have tried un-installing and re-installing.
    Please advise.
    Thanks!

    Hi
You could try the new password manager.
     http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?&DocID=DS031504
Or you could try to delete all the files,
Find Client Security Solution in user profile folder (Search hidden), and delete them all.
    And restart system.
Before doing this, remember to export passwords

  • Is it at all possible for a program off the computer to get password information from the password manager?

With all of the discussion about needing an "external" password manager (outside the browser), and recent demonstration about how much information can be gotten about web browsing, IP addresses, physical location (at least down to the city), etc., I am concerned as to whether it IS safer to use a 3rd party password manager instead of the one in Firefox.\
    ed

If you use a Master Password that is sufficiently strong then you should be safe.
    * https://support.mozilla.org/kb/create-secure-passwords-keep-your-identity-safe
    * http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Password_strength
If you do not use a master password then having access to key3.db and signons.sqlite is sufficient to have access to the encrypted names and passwords by placing the two files in a Firefox profile folder.

  • Serious issue with password manager - mouse selection in MS word 2007

A little while ago, after installing some thinkvantage updates, I started to loose selection with the mouse in microsoft word 2007 after few minutes of usage (and derivatives such as outlook). I have a T61 with Windows 7 64 bit ultimate.
I did many internet searches and surprisingly many other users who had this issue were Lenovo users so I'm not even sure if this issue is windows 7 specific.
Disabling totally the password manager solved the problem - so there might be a serious issue there...

When the login prompt pops up for Account 2, the Password Manager gets confused and thinks it needs to update the password for Account 1. I can have it enter the password properly for one account at a time, but at no time will it properly handle both.

  • My Kaspersky Password manager and a whole list of things I use daily have been disabled. I want to go back to my older version of Mozilla. How do I do that.

I want to go back to the older version of Mozilla. The new version does not support alot of the programs that I used daily, like my Kaspersky Password Manager (which is essential), I can't remember all of my usernames and passwords. If I can't use this feature, then I don't want the new version. How do I go back to the older version? Otherwise, I'll be forced to use Internet Explorer.

Due to security vulnerabilities, rolling back to Firefox 4.0.1 is not recommended. Firefox 3.6.18 would be the safer choice.
Here's the process to roll back:
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Next, download and save Firefox 3.6 to your desktop for future installation. http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all-older
    Close Firefox 5.
You could install Firefox 3.6 over it (many have reported success) or you could uninstall Firefox first. If you uninstall, do not remove your personal data and settings, just the program.
Unless you have installed an incompatible add-on, Firefox 3.6 should pick up where you left off. If there are serious issues, please post back with details.
Note: I haven't actually tried this myself!
