Password not accpted above 8 characters

Hi,
We are facing a strange issue after upgrade. We have upgraded from 4.7 to ECC6 and it is non unicode.
However when we try to login it takes a password which is 8 characters or below ones. the user id with password above 8 characters is not allowed to login at all.
It just throws error name or password is incorrect.
But for the same user if i give the first 8 characters of password as password then it works fine.
If any one has faced the similar issue please let us know immediately.

Anyhow, we have seen similar in Upgrade area where customer which came from 620 system are unable to logon with more than 8 passwords. This is due to the fact that, in 620 (or older) versions, only 8 characters are used for users passwords, no more than that, and this info was recorded on the database under a special codeversion.
Unfortunately there's no automated solution for this, you'll have either to reset the passwords of all users which are facing this problem (so they'll be generated under the new rules as of NW 700 version) or convince them to keep using the 8 characters one

So, my wife is becoming manic depressant when she tries to use her phone, computer, whatever... on icloud. It will work fine for a week or two, then suddenly the password for the same account she has had no problem with for the last 4 years doesn't work any more. I then get called in to reset her password, re-sign in all of her devices, and she and I are happy once again. This has happened a ******** amount of times, (more than 10). I have went through the entire process of resetting all of the security questions... blah, blah... tech support... turn off, sign out all devices, blah blah... turn on, sign back in, on and on... update the computer, soft reset, hard reset, "upgrade" to the new stupid operating system that she really hates, blah blah, update the phone to an even worse OS,... on and on. Honest. I've tried everything. Everything is the latest model, and software version.
Does anyone out there actually know how to fix this intermittent problem? There is no solid pattern to the time intervals. It can happen within hours, or weeks of me resetting the password and signing in.
Lately, I have spent more intimate time with my wifes Apple devices than her, and this is very disturbing for me. (and her)

Whilst Apple IDs that end in either @mac.com or @me.com they registration pages do not tell you that if you are going to be using it as an AIM Screen Name the password has to be 16 characters otr less. (This is an AIM server limit)
At some point you will need to update the password.

New password must differ from old password by at least 9999 characters.

Hi All,
When logging into my Apex as admin ( https://server/apex/apex_admin ) , I was asked to changed the password which I did but then I received the error "New password must differ from old password by at least 9999 characters". Apparently I made some wrong settings in the password policies before, but now I am stuck. I have the admin password, but I cannot go pass the change-passsword page.
Is there a way that I can reset the password policy from the command line ?
My Apex is 4.2.2 on Linux RHEL 6.3.

Even though things switched over via DTM, it sounds like something on your carrier side has not yet fully switched over. I suggest you contact them for formal assistance as they manage your BIS account and need to ensure that things have properly shifted over on their side.
FYI -- the credentials it is asking for have nothing to do with your email accounts. These credentials are your BIS account credentials (the account I mentioned above). BIS stores all of your email credentials so that it can perform as true PUSH from the perspective of the BB. But, to protect those, it further has credentials to get into the BIS account itself...and these are the credentials it is requesting.

At one time only Email IDs from Apple (when it was just @Mac.com) were referred to as "Apple IDs"
Other IDs such as to log in to Discussions were know as Discussion IDs
Things like the Online Store and iTunes and Apple realising that people would prefer one ID to have access to Everything tended to move things together.

?xml version="1.0"? tag not appearing as first characters in document

Hi,
JSP below successfully creates a XML document but it includes a blank line before the <?xml version="1.0"?> tag.
This causes my PL/SQL to return a "ORA-20100: Error occurred while parsing: PI names starting with 'xml' are
reserved." error when using the XMLPARSER package.
I am outputting the XML to IE5.0 but even if I do a SYSTEM out I get the same blank line before the initial tag.
There are posts on here that confirm the PI error is caused by the tag not being the first characters in the document, but no solution/fix is provided.
Any ideas much appreciated.

I believe that the blank line is caused by the JSP engine when it strips out the '<%@ page import...>' (replace bracket with brace) statement. God (or at least Larry E) forgive me for posting a link at IBM, but this article speaks to your issue:

Maybe you need to put the <?xml?> tag in the jsp itself and strip it out of your xmldoc before outputting it.

Password not shown in asterisk

I have a device with a problem:
When i try to unlock the blackberry , the password is shown in clear letters not in asterisks.
Even if typing in the right password, it doesnt get accepted. And it's asking me to type in "blackberry"

Meanwhile I have it solved. As I already tried 8 ot of the max 10 times, I called my provider (KPN, Netherlands) and they told me there is only 1 way: just type 'blackberry' when it asks for and then my code. I did this after my phone was put out 1 day, and when I started it up it did a kind of 'safety check'which it normally not does, never did before, apparantly that made sense. So in trial 9 I first had to type 'blackberry' and then in try 9/10 my personal code (just as I did already before, but before it did not accpt it, still do not know why) and .... I was lucky, I was through!!! In case I was not that lucky KPN advised me to keep on trying and after the 10th time the phone will do factory reset and I would have lost all personal data which was not on the blackberry server, pfffff ..... hope you will be that lucky too.

Can username, password have unicode(non english) characters

Does Oracle allow a username, password to have non english characters.

I found the answer to my own question. In essence it looks like the answer is Yes for UserName and a little confusing for the Password. Password has to be in Single byte characterset, not clear whether 7 bit or 8 bit. 8 bit from my understanding is Ascii + some Western European characters.
Following is from Oracle 10G Database SQL reference

Specify the name of the user to be created. This name can contain only characters from your database character set and must follow the rules described in the section "Schema Object Naming Rules". Oracle recommends that the user name contain at least one single-byte character regardless of whether the database character set also contains multibyte characters.
Note:
Oracle recommends that user names and passwords be encoded in ASCII or EBCDIC characters only, depending on your platform.
BY password
The BY password clause lets you creates a local user and indicates that the user must specify password to log on to the database. Passwords can contain only single-byte characters from your database character set regardless of whether the character set also contains multibyte characters.
Passwords must follow the rules described in the section "Schema Object Naming Rules", unless you are using the Oracle Database password complexity verification routine. That routine requires a more complex combination of characters than the normal naming rules permit.

User password not recognised

I have recently downloaded flash player and it asked me for my password, which did not work. It then asked for my appple ID and downloaded the app.
Since this I have not been able to log on as a main user and I am now only able to use guest as my password is not being accepted.

First, make sure caps lock is not on.
You must back up all data before continuing, unless you've already done so. If you need to back up but can't log in, ask for instructions.
If the user account is associated with an Apple ID, and you know the Apple ID password, then maybe the Apple ID can be used to reset your user account password.
Otherwise*, boot into Recovery by holding down the key combination command-R at startup. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar.
In the Terminal window, type this:
res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window opens.
Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Follow the prompts to reset the password. It's safest to choose a password that includes only the characters a-z, A-Z, and 0-9.

Mucho strangeness: passwords not propagating to AD, and other annoyances

Hi all,
I'm dealing with a few problems in IDM at the moment, and am looking at a small grab-bag of symptoms, which may or may not be linked to each other or to the problem at all.
The main current problem is that passwords aren't propagating into our Active Directory servers, although they did in the past.
First a quick summary of our environment, we are running IDM 5.5, we have a central mysql DB which is the source of user infromation, 3 different tables, one for each class of user. Activesync is in use to watch these tables, and we have a custom user form for each table too.
We are feeding account data into an LDAP server, which is working fine, and to a pair of Active Directory Servers, one for testing/development, and one intended to be for production, except the 'production' server isn't actually in production yet.
Password information is held in the mysql tables, in 2 different forms, 1) pre-encrypted unix hashes, and pgp-encrypted plaintext, we use the pgp-encrypted plaintext to feed the AD servers, and the unix-hashes for the LDAP.
Amongst other things the custom forms are calling locally written java code to reverse the pgp-encryption.
Because the AD boxes weren't in production, we don't know when things broke, or what may have changed to cause the breakage.
The symptoms I've found are as follows:
- account creation on AD works, including the initial password,
- password changes are not going through to the AD servers,
- changes to other fields in the mysql tables, do propagate (ie, changes to names, email adresses, vacation settings),
- Our custom user form gets run 3 times, on any change to an account within the mysql tables,
- The first time the form is run, the waveset.accountId is, sometimes, null, (maybe this is on account creation?)
- The first time the form is run, activeSync.pgp_pass (our pgp encrypted plaintext password) is always null,
- on an attempted password change, the task log doesn't show that it is trying to change the password, only that the Acocunt was 'updated',
- on changing any other field, the task log shows that it was changing that field, although it does show other fields that may have been changed,
- the catalina.out (we run tomcat), does show that the passwords are being correctly decrypted from the pgp form,
I'm stuck at this point, can anyone make any suggestions?

This reply is just to let people know what happened with the issues I listed above.
- The user form being run 3 times, I don't fully understand this one, but I did reduce the amount of work the form did by turning the pgp decryption from a Expansion, to a Derivation field type.
- the empty attributes, the first time the form is run, does appear to be due to the first appearance of a user account, ie waveset.accountId is empty because it hadn't been generated yet for this user,
The basic problem of the passwords not puching out was a naming issue, when we first developed the software to decrypt the passwords, we put it in global.pass, and in the schema maps, placed entries like pass->userPasswordAt that point the system worked, then we decided to be more explicit and decided to name the attribute password instead.
Which meant the schema map was now working with the password. namespace and the password.password attribute, which in turn meant the password distribution failed, because we didn't set password.confirmPassword, or the pasword.selectAll attributes.
We were lazy, and didn't expect what looked like a attribute name change to be able to change anything, so we didn't notice the passwords stopped propagating.
As you can see from the above we are still learning how this all works :-(

Sending above 254 characters through coldfusion sms gateway

I have been sending SMS using coldfusion sms gateway. If am sending below 254 characters, it works perfectly but when I need to send above 254 characters, I use the messagePayload attribute and convert the message to binary. The message sends OK but only the first 25 characters are displayed
on the phone. I have gone through the coldfusion documentation but what I don't understand is "The messagePayload field can contain up to 64K bytes;
it must start with 0x0424, followed by 2 bytes specifying the payload length, followed by the message contents."
Adobe didn't state any specific example on how this would be implemented. Kindly send an example on how this would be implemented.
If anyone knows any other method of sending long messages, please share it cos my .Net friends are laughing at me, telling me coldfusion is wack

kind of funny thing going on. Well, frankly I don't know much about
Coldfusion, I just been using it for about 6 months.

login/password_history_size ->This parameter controls the size of the password history.
The password history is evaluated when a user chooses a new
password: the system rejects the (re)use of passwords that are
stored in the password history.
by default this parameter has value 5. means user cannot use his last 5 password,
this parameter is depend on
login/password_expiration_time: Duration of validity of passwords (in days)
login/password_change_waittime: Wait time between two password changes
Password not to be reused within 52 weeks
you need to make combination of above three parameters and activate password policy by define following parameter
login/password_compliance_to_current_policy -> 1

Sub account e-mail: User name or password not reco...

The wife has just upgraded to an iPhone 5 and her e-mail has stopped working. I can access the sub-account from 'My BT' and have tried re-setting the password. I can create another sub-account and access that one fine from her phone but not the original sub-account. The error message I get is username or password not recognised. Any ideas?
I'm tempted to delete the sub-account and try the same account name from scratch but am worried in case I can't use that account name again. Would this happen?

Don't delete the email address from your BT account. If you do I don't think you can reuse it. Delete the email account from the Iphone and then try setting it up again by following this guide.

If that does not help then carry out a factory restore of your Homehub by pressing a pin into the recessed button on the rear then try setting up the phone as above again.

TS1398 Wifi password not accepted

My work wifi password is 6 characters long, but when I enter the password the join button remains "greyed out" unless I enter a password of at least 8 characters, and idea how I can rejoin this network, thanks. I am using an iphone 4s.
