Password not recognised, re set e-mail never received

I have a second company iPad with a different Apple ID. I had already bought keynote, numbers and pages from the app store but today when I tried to download Dropbox my password is no longer recognised. Requesting a password reset results in the e-mail from Apple never being received. I get an acknowledgement that says it has beeen sent, but it never arrives. Checked Junk etc - empty!

    I regret that you're having trouble setting up your email, corbad! You're on the right track with your incoming email address. You might also try incoming.verizon.net or incoming.yahoo.verizon.net as possible alternatives, and 995 as the port number. Please let me know how that goes!

    You'll find your notes under Mail in iCloud. There's a separate folder on the left that's labeled notes so you can access them anywhere. And your me.com account will have the same password as your Apple ID (in fact, you can log into iCloud with just your Apple ID, as the two accounts are permanently linked).

    Thanks for that. Much more constructive than the last comment. It's only the restriction code I can't recall, not the access passcode. So I can currently access the device, just not age restricted content. Does that's make a difference? I also wondered if anyone knew how many attempts you get to try to get it right. Now tried 21 times and so far nothing bad has happened but I am concerned I'll eventually be completely locked out of the device. That doesn't seem in the spirit of things though. Surely it's foreseeable that a child could repeatedly try to guess the code so I can't see that it would be right to lock the device down completely in that circumstance, particularly if the access code is being typed in correctly every time.

    Trying to send email from withinn iPhoto always get message saying password not recognised even though set correct password email address within preferences in iPhoto. Believe this started when I upgraded to Lion.

    using iCloud doesn't work i.e. the account sets up but still cannot send email through iPhoto
    I am registered with iCloud and it works fine in other applications
    I am reluctant to delete MobileMe from iPhoto since if I do so I will not be able to add it again I still have photos etc in my MobileMe iDisk which I will need to move somewhere else soon with demise of MobileMe

    That does happen.  It depends on how hard the server is being hit, as well as the connection speed of your system.  If you are on a windows system, you will want to disable any antivirus or firewall software during the download.

    Have tried both @mac.com and @me.com - no joy..

    Hi there, wondered if anyone could help with my latest problem.
    My BT Broadband is up and running as is my BT Vision (including on Demand, but NOT Sky Sports)
    I received a letter with all of my info showing a user name and password
    The username was my email address (@btinternet.com) and the password was letters and number uppercase and lowercase.
    BT Fon, My BT and setting my Emails up do not recognise my email address OR/AND my password.
    Are there any reason the email address and password could be incorrect at BT's end or do have to wait for another set period of time to activate! Cant send a password reminder either because the email is not recognised so stuck in a circle on this one.

    Have you just been activated, if so it can take a day or so for MY BT and email to recognise the email address and password.
    it could also take a couple of days for fon to work.

    I am trying to remotely configure my Mac Mini with Snow Leopard. At the first login in Server Admin, I am asked for a password. Server guide advises me that the password is the fist 8 digits of the serial number but this is not recognised.
    Can anyone help?

  • Locked out of BT email - Password not recognised d...

    Hi folks 
    3 days ago I could not log in to bt emails getting the 5 stage box suggesting my account had been compromised. I went through the suggestions, PC virus free, eventually managed to reset my password but I still could not log in, although the new password enabled me to log in to the My Bt page thus this forum. I spent via 3 separate phone calls to the off shore call centres a full 3 hours onto their technical support people.
    On two occassions they actually gave me a new password over the phone for my account. Both times I still could not log in. We tried the BTyahoo log in page and bt.com, neither worked. They told me that my account has not been locked but could offer no solution.
    I did try deleting all cookies, and I have tried logging in from other networks using a windows based PC and both Chrome and Internet Explorer 11. Each time I get the five stage box, or the message "try again with correct details and password."
    Following my last phone call to BT I was promised to get a call back yesterday but there was no call.
    In the meantime I am preparing to give up on this and move to Gmail for all emails. It is enough to drive you bonkers!
    If anyone has an obvious solution your help will be massively appreciated.
    I am running Windows 7 on my lap top.

    One aspect of my original topic still concerns me in respect of the phone contact I had with the off shore call centres. When I started the phone call the automated system mentioned that we will never ask you for your password details. And fair enough, they never did.
    However, when everything else failed the call handler told me that he was resetting my password and "your new password is xyz" quoted verbally. I still could not log in.
    However, consider the implications of what happened and what it means for your password security? The fact that a call centre worker has the authority to change your password and take possession of it if he/she was inclined to do so, surely that raises Big questions as to the security of your email account!
    Would you agree with me that it is best to assume that your BT internet account could be viewed or accessed by people unknown to you and unauthorised?
    Food for thought perhaps?

    I do seek to get my access back to BT emails however I will not be using BT as my preferred email provider in future. Having set up a gmail account, in the absence of a solution from BT, already I am much prefering their set up.

    I upgraded from Snow Leopard to the latest Mountain Lion OS and now my Wifi will not work. When I try and insert the password to my Wifi network states either 'connection timed out' or 'password and/or user name not recognised' please help...!

    Take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried, until the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
    Restart the router. Many problems are solved that way.
    Step 2
    Change the name of the wireless network, if applicable, to eliminate any characters other than letters and digits. You do that on your router via its web page, if it's not an Apple device, or via AirPort Utility, if it is an Apple device.
    Step 3
    From the menu bar, select
     ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Network
    Click the Assist me button and select Assistant. Follow the prompts.
    Step 4
    Back up all data.
    Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
    Enter the name of your wireless network in the search box. You should have one or more "AirPort network password" items with that name. Make a note of the name and password, then delete all the items. Quit Keychain Access. Turn Wi-Fi off and then back on. Reconnect to the network.
    Step 5
    You may need to change other settings on the router. See the guidelines linked below:

    Potential sources of interference
    Step 6
    Make a note of all your settings for Wi-Fi in the Network preference pane, then delete the connection from the connection list and recreate it with the same settings. You do this by clicking the plus-sign icon below the connection list, and selecting Wi-Fi as the interface in the sheet that opens. Select Join other network from the Network Name menu, then select your network. Enter the password when prompted and save it in the keychain.

    Cannot download apps or update iPhone 5 as constantly says applied password invalid. Can sign onto Apple with this password on laptop but not on phone. Why is this?  It's driving me insane!!!  Have tried resetting password multiple times but still the phone does not recognise the password. Any ideas?

    I've updated an iPhone 4 to iOS 7.1.2 and cannot successfully use the App Store App to download even a free app.  Because the phone is out of warranty, Apple support will not help.
    I click on the App Store Icon, I search for a free app, hit the "Get" button, it thinks for a few seconds, and then asks me for my AppleID password.
    I supply that (and I know its correct, because if I enter a honky one, that is immediately diagnosed), it thinks for a few seconds, then returns me to the screen with the "Get" button again.  Hitting the button just restarts the password inquiry over again with the same result.  No error indication occurs at all.
    I don't see how it could be a problem with my internet connection(s).  I've tried it with or without wireless router, used Cell data only, taken the phone to a different wireless network, etc...   Could App Store app even ask for my password if there was a problem with my connection?
    I've tried reanswering my AppleID security questions, updating my credit card information, and changing my password.  No help.  It doesn't appear to be an AppleID issue.  I've searched the internet, Apple's support forums, carried out Apple's tedious procedures for checking the connections, read the docs, etc...
    Has anyone seen anything like this?   Any suggestions?
