Password not recognized after removal of corrupt backup file

I removed a corrupt backup file of my iPhone 4 from iTunes and now it does not recognize my password anymore. The password is correct, as I wrote it down when I set it up. Any thoughts? This must be some kind of flaw in iTunes or iOS for iPhone.

Don,
Take a look at this article:  http://osxdaily.com/2010/08/10/forgot-mac-password-how-to-reset-mac-password/
Under the "Reset Mac Password - without a CD" it will walk you through booting to single user mode and removing the setup file.  When you reboot it will treat the computer as if it had never gone through the setup and allow you to create a new user account.  This will NOT wipe the computer or the user that is there, but will create a new user that you can then use to reset the password of the account you already have.

    iPhone 4, iOS 6.1.3

Thanks for the suggestion.  I tried stopping and restarting Apple Mobile Services, Bonjour and iPod services but it had no effect.  The problem still remains - everything works for all 3 iPhones immediately after reinstalling iTunes but none of them can connect with any of the USB cables after a reboot.  This problem is still present as of upgrading to 10.6.3.25.
BTW, I do have other choices.  I can become disenchanted with the product, use it less and less, then eventually migrate over to some competitor's product.
    Cheers,
    Chris.

  • HT202274 Password change old password not recognized after 10.9.5 upgrade

    God bless you, peace.
macbook pro 2012 user password not recognized after 10.9.4 too 10.9.5 upgrade plus tech work at apple.
I want to change user password, it is allowing me to get into user account and admin account on computer but I recently changed it for the tech work to be done. I would like to put the password back now to old password or a new one but... The few days old new password pre update and pre tech work is not being accepted to allow me to change to another password.
recent update, after 10.9.4 to 10.9.5 update and apple tech work done.
    1. Tech work replaced optical drive,
    2. 10.9.4 to 10.9.5 upgrade left computer endlessly booting up, then got into finder window tried to read backup drive and screen went to black curser and could not backup information as techs decided may need to be done before I left it with them.
    3. Also track pad was not (is not again) selecting text to drag unless real hard press and then only intermittently would select text or just drop the selection (not hold the selected text after a long scroll select, did work at first after tech work but back to not working). It is still not responding easily when pressed, but it is much better, as they did something with software they said. Today While typing this I am trying to select words misspelled and it does not select them unless I press not as hard it is becoming the same as before I see now, sometimes less pressure is needed but more than should be used.
I noticed today after tech work The Spell check is not responding with a two finger tap on the red underlined misspelled words without multiple try's with two finger tap. The curser moves around after selecting words also, or when selecting words so hard the curser moves to another place not on the desired words or check box. The curser arrow tip should select the word but it does not recognize unless I put the tail of the arrow onto the word then it recognizes the misspelled word for spell check on two finger gesture.
It looks like I need to take it back, I tried to call and check to confirm if the track pad intermittently and curser adjustment was serviced. In order to verify I had called three times to get that information to no avail. endless looped in the phone que, one would answer take info and then forward me to a endless loop dial ing phone that never was picked up, supposedly at the Bay street store tech section. Phone voice mail from apple support status on the repair, ...Juliano from Bay Street Apple repair store Emeryville, ca left a voice message... just generically said optical drive replacement is successfulI, I noticed right away three items were to be addressed but only the optical drive was mentioned, so I called three times to try and verify the other problems. One whole minute just to select this text and copy it to notes for a backup. It would not select at first, then after selected it would not copy it, then it would not paste to notes, it paste the last cut and paste I did 10 minutes ago.
I do not have a easy excellent wifi connection for my wifi only phone and would prefer email or chat for repair help. apple Repair No: R142180337

Try running the combo update. It fixes more files/data than the App Store upgrade.

  • Administrative Password Not Recognized After Clean Install

I had my hard drive replaced by Apple. They did install Mountain Lion. Fortunately I backed with Time Machine my data. When I started the computer for the first time I selected the option to transfer the data from a Time Machine back up. Everything went fine, registration was sent to Apple, logged into the wireless network etc. The last step asked me to log into my account, but the password is not recognized. I am sure of my password. There is nothing else I can do but restarting the computer. There is no option to go back at the beggining. I tried to boot to recovery partition ( by Holding down command r when the computer is off and reboot) so I can reset the admin password but it takes me again to the same screen where I have to put my password that is not recognized. I would really appreciate any help! Thanks

I'm not sure I fully understand which screen it is booting into, but it sounds like Apple's Genius may have already set up your computer with a Password, in which case I might try assuming that he left the "password" selection blank.  When the screen asks for your password, have you tried just hitting the "enter" key while leaving the box blank?  Failing that, i would probably suggest, I'm sorry to say, returning to the Store and having them diagnose what is wrong with THEIR installation of Mountain Lion.
    Hope this helps

  • Password not recognized after A&I

I did an archive and install and after the reboot, my password is not being recognized. What can I do?

Same thing on one of my machines.
The password reset did work for the login pass... but the strange thing is:
Almost all other tasks which asks for the admin pass... refuse my old password.
And sometimes it seems it is not remembered or saved (i.e. the mail application asks again and again?!)
I noticed that i have used the letter "Y" in my login password.
I am on a german system with QWERTZ keyboard layout.
And guess what... if i enter my pass with typing the "Z" instead of the right "Y"... the pass is excepted!
What the .... is this? Can i reset or repair the password keychain or anything else? Or is it a problem with the little application(dialog which asks for the password?
    This is really annoying.
    TIA!

  • Password not recognized after updating iTunes

I just updated iTunes and now it doesn't recognize my password. Do I have to start another account?

If you start another account--you may have trouble playing things you already bought. Can you contact the store and have them reset your password? You can use the email links inside the store when you click on support.
On Edit: Does anything in this article help:

  • N95 backup file not recognized after Firmware upda...

    Hi,
I've been updating my N95 from V11 to V12.0.013 right after I did a backup file. Backup went ok and no error reported.
After fw update, I tried restoring data but Content Copier informs that "no earlier backup file exists for this phone".
I've tried selecting folder where back-up file is saved but it does not recognize it.
I was using PC Suite 6.83 and decided to upgrade to 6.84 just released, to have another try but it still doesn't find backup file, eventhough it exists (2007-07-12 Nokia N95.nbu)
Could you please instruct if there are some specific steps to go through in such case??
I'm using XP, Service Pack 2
    PC Suite 6.84

    Many thanks!

P.S.: If needed I could send mentionned backup file but it is huge (42MB)

  • ID and password not recognized

I have an iCloud account and everything was super until two days ago. I, by mistake, deleted the user Library directory so the Mac said "An error occourred. You can't log in" or something like that. I re-installed lion and now, when I try to log in in the iCloud "tab" on System Preferences, the Mac says "ID or Password not recognized, try to log in after a whiile" or also "You're already logged in" or "I cant' send a new verification mail, there's a problem with the server".
With my iPhone end with the other installation of lion on an other HDD (but also on www.icloud.com) everythig is ok.
I have two HDD: an SSD where I put system files and in the other there is my home directory. I use symbolik link in order to have the user library on the SSD. I think I messed up with permission because I use my old home directory with this new user (for example I need the password just to delete a file from the "Download" directory...)
Sorry for my bad english and the long post...
    Thank you everyone!

  • Wifi password not recognized

    hi,
I'm really going crazy with my iphone.
since a software update last week, my wifi connection at home is not working anymore.
I've tried everything described on the support side and things I found here in the forum, as
    1. Tap Settings > WiFi > Other network
    2. Enter the name of the network you are trying to log onto
    3. Tap Security and tell the iPod what type of security the network is using
    4. Tap Password and enter the network password
    TRIED - PASSWORD NOT RECOGNIZED
If this still doesn't work, reset your network settings (tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network settings and try the steps above again once the iPhone restarts.
    TRIED - PASSWORD NOT RECOGNIZED
my router at home is from linksys...
as I said, until last week, it worked properly without any problems...
now, the iphone only finds my wifi and asks for the password and after typing it I always geht the info, that network connection failed...
I have no ideas anymore what I can do and would highly appreciate your help

Have you experienced a problem connecting to any other wi-fi networks that you have access to since installing firmware update 3.0?
If not, have you checked Linksys's website to see if a firmware update is available for your wireless router model that you haven't installed?
Have you tried re-setting your wireless router? If not, disconnect any computer(s) from your wireless network - turn wi-fi access off or power your computer(s) off. Turn your wireless router off followed by turning your modem off. Wait a few minutes followed by reversing this. Power your modem back on allowing it to completely reset followed by powering your wireless router back on allowing it to completely reset with the modem. This one may be a long shot, but you never know.

  • Keep  getting Keychain password changed alert after removing password

I Keep getting a "Keychain password changed" alert after removing a user account password my mother applied to the account and then forgot. How do I keep this message from continuing to appear?
I am not really sure how the keychain system works as I have never used it on my own Mac.

keychain is where you store the passwords you use on various websites, in mail and other apps. I suspect you use it too. but it's normally quite unobtrusive.
by default the password to unlock the keychain is the same as the account password. but this does not have to be and you can change it. when you reset the account password the keychain password was not reset. unless you can recall the old account password the old keychain is of no use to you. go to the folder homedirectory/library/keychains and delete the file login.keychain (or move it somewhere else). then log out/in. a new empty keychain will be created with the password the same as the new account password and you can start saving passwords in that.

  • Logitech trackball not recognized after 10.5.8 update- LCC 3.1 needed

Logitech Trackman wireless trackball was not recognized after 10.5.8 upgrade. At re-boot, the "searching for bluetooth mouse" screen appeared, pushing the re-set button on the wireless base and trackball did not solve the problem.
Had to plug in my Apple mouse (worked immediately), go to the Logitech website and download the latest Logitech Control Center software for Snow Leopard, dated 9/22/09 (version 3.1)
After install and re-start, Logitech hardware worked perfectly, as before.
Not sure if it would avoid this issue, but I recommend installing LCC 3.1 before you install the 10.5.8 update. That or be sure you have an Apple mouse on hand.

I have that file on my system and x11 was updated using 10.5.8 combo update. it works just fine.

  • In iPhoto, when i try to email a photo using "share", I keep getting"username/password" not recognized. It used to work automatically before.

I cannot email  a photo using iPhoto "share. I keep getting "username/password not recognized". I used to use this function all the time but all of a sudden, I keep getting this message.

In iPhoto, open Preferences (under iPhoto in the menu bar) and click the "Accounts" tab on top.  Make sure your email account(s) is/are set up there correctly, just as they are in Apple's Mail.  Make sure the password in included.

  • Camera RAW, file not recognized after import and migration, Aperture 2.1

    Hi,
I have recently purchased a 1DMKIII and am constantly getting "file not recognized" after I import and even after migrating RAW files. My 1DS MK1 RAW files have no issues. The RAW files render just fine using CS4 bridge. Any ideas here on a fix? Other than ditching Aperture (not desireable)
    Thanks,
