Password not set.

hi all
i hope this is the correct area to post.
i am doing my CCNA and want to overcome a small problem.
when trying to 'telnet' into my 2610 router i get the
'Password not Set' message and then disconnected.
i did see a mention of this among the pages and pages of cisco support area.
the ping is successful, and i do get the banner MOTD shown as i telnet in.
so suggestions please, and have i posted enough info?

You can get onto the router via console port and configure the password for the same under the line vty 0 4 which will set the telnet password for the router.
line vty 0 4
password cisco
Also do check up whether you have configured either enable password or secret to get the privilege access to configure the router..

AD attributes and passwords not setting correctly

I am running FIM 2010 R2 build 4.1.3479.0 with AD servers at 2008 forest level. I have set up the ADMA for staff to set passwords and the userprincipalname attribute (among others). I have custom code in the MVextension.dll that does this. I
am having two issues going on that I believe to be related somehow.
1) These initial passwords are not being set and
2) although the userprinciplename attribute is set correctly when you look in ADUC on the "Attribute Editor" tab, it is not being displayed correctly on the "Account" tab. The User logon name and the upnsuffix fields are blank.
The pre-win2k fields are displaying correctly.
I have done a lot of work trying to figure out what is going on here and I have checked that there are no issues with rights in AD and the code. I have another ADMA that populates a different set of users in another OU and that fills out the UPN and
password and everything works as it should. The code differences between the two areas are very minimal.
The code for this is as follows:

There are no errors on creation of the user. There are no errors if I log in as the service account and try to change the password.
The emailExtension variable is the same as the one that works for the other users that work.

Regarding the first question: You receive the "Password set", but does your test-user have a role assigned in UME through IdM? If yes, I would check the system log to see if any errors are written here.
If no: Try assigning a role to the user and then try resetting the password.
Have you checked in UME under security concept if it is allowed to change the password (it is in some check box under security concept under Configuration.
Best of luck with editing passwords in AD. now THAT is a real challenge

All of a sudden my email asks a password. I use Thunderbird at work and I have not set this password. The person who did left. How do I login now?

You administer your email password with your email provider. You need to work with them to reset a forgotten password.
Go to their web mail or email help site and look for a link to reset your password.

iTunes and the iTunes Store won't have anything to do with your photos. Those would be stored only on your laptop unless you made a backup of some sort. If you didn't, and the hard drive in your laptop has failed, then your photos are gone unless you wish to pay a disk recovery service a lot of money to try and get them back.
As to your music, if you purchased it from the iTunes Store you can probably re-download it. Go to the iTunes Store, log into your account, and click the Purchases link under the Quick Links. From there you should be able to re-download some or all of your purchased content. Note that not all content has been licensed for re-downloading in all countries at this time. You need to use the right arrow on the remote to go all the way to the right. The submit button will be highlighted and you can then press select on the remote to proceed.

Backup 3.1 V356 .Mac member name or password is not set

I recently changed my .Mac Password and since I have done so, backup fails with .Mac member name or password is not set when I try and backup my personal data to my iDisk.
I read on the Backup help to delete all associations with .Mac in the Keychain, which I did (I had this error before deleting the Keychain error: Invalid .Mac user name or password
Unable to complete backup at this time.) I believe I deleted all of them and now how the Member name or password is not set. My way of trying to fix this was by going to the finder and clicking on the iDisk. I did this, it prompted me for the Username and Password, I re-opened backup and still no joy.
Can anybody else think of anything?
Do I need to delete backup and re-install it or something?

Things to try
System Preferences in the Internet section, under the Account table, re-enter your .mac email address and password
On your hard drive go to Library/Keychain and see if there are any values for .mac

Apple IDs use a email address and a password you create for that email address on Apples website.
There should be a link on whatever page you are on to Create an Apple ID. Click that link.
Or just open App Store from the link on you Dock then Find the link to create an Apple ID.
Absolutely not. You can create a blank password. Yes it's stupid. Yes it's unsafe. But from helping people with their Macs, I find most do not set up a password. <facepalm>

PDF Document requests a password for opening despite not setting it up to do so

I created a secure pdf document that is to be downloaded from a web site. Upon downloading, users should be able to open/view the pdf without having to enter a password, but would need a password to be able to edit or make changes to the document. When testing the document and downloading from the web site, I am prompted for a password even though I did not set the pdf to request one for opening the document.

My guess is that the security settings on your router and iPod do not match.
For a test, change your router so there is no security. See if you can connect and get to the Internet. If that works, set up the router with security and use the same settings for the iPod.

Try logging out of your account on the iPad by tapping on your id in Settings > Store and then log back in and see if it then works.
