Password policy, gone after remote wipe or firmware upgrade?

I am investigating if the iPhone is a serious option for our customers. I learned a lot the past days, but I still have one important questions.
I have an iPhone with a password policy
Situation 1:
I perform a remote wipe, the latest firmware installs itself after the activation and I don't put back a backup.
Situation 2:
I update the firmware of my iPhone with a 'restore' and don't put back a backup.
Question:
For both situations: Is my password policy still on the iphone?

I assume you intend to set the password policy via a configuration profile. The policy will remain in place until the device is wiped. After that it is basically a fresh phone, and neither any data nor any profiles will remain on the phone.
Your goal is probably that any sensitive information is only stored on a phone with a password policy enabled. For this you would essentially have to put all that information on a VPN, and provide the key / certificate to access that network with the profile, so that a user would not be able to gain access to the information without the profile.

  • Can iPhone still be identified after remote wipe?

Got my iPhone stolen. The person turned it off right away. So far it has been offline. I have been sending messages and locking commends through iCloud.com, but have not chosen the remote wipe option yet.
Is it possible for a stolen iPhone be identified after restore? An iPhone has a series number, I assume iTunes would be able to identify this number somehow. Can anything be done on this front?

Thanks for replying. The following posting by Kappy seems to be very comprehensive information posting on lost/stolen iPhones. I have tried to make sure all my Apple products are properly registered. That's step one. We will see how things go.

  • How to retrieve a password policy response after a ldap bind operation

    Background:
I've set up openldap with the ppolicy overlay. The overlay works as expected, but after a bind operation I need to get hands on the ppolicy response.
This can be done manually (with shell commands like ldapsearch) by specifying '-e ppolicy' (general extension).
But how can i get hands on response from my LoginModule? Code:
    env.put(Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL, userDN);
    env.put(Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS, inputPassword);
    ctx = new InitialLdapContext(env, null);
..is it possible to use ExtendedRequest or UnsolicitedNotificationEvent when the creation of the context throws a NamingException (the bind operation fails due to a locked account).
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
I am having the exact same problem in that OpenLDAP is implementing the password policy people login and everything is fine, but then the password expires and bang they are out. I would like to be able to give my users some warning to say that their password will expire in x days or that your password has expired you have X logins left.
Anyway I have tried the methods suggested here and using ctx.getResponseControls() will either give me null or an array with the exact same objects that I passed in with new InitialLdapContext. What I have did work fine when we used the old jar libraries but we moved to JNDI.
    Any help would be appriciated

  • Lumia 925 went from amber to 8.0 after remote wipe...

    Hi all,
I have had my lumia 925 for 1 day and it was running amber. I tested out the remote wipe function from windowsphone.com but it installed OS 8.0 on the device. And now the device also wont upgrade to amber. WHen I search for update it also takes some time to come back and say no update availble.
    Have tried ressetingAny help appreciated

Some system apps got updated a few times after the amber update and their latest versions is not included in your phone ROM, so when you do a hard/factory reset, you lose those updates too. The store app will notify you about those updates, but not sooner than a few days. So it's better to update those manually.
As mentioned by paulheu, that's not a "pre-amber" state, amber is already installed but you do not have required app updates. To update those system apps, please follow the link that paulheu gave.
After a reset, as mentioned by WildSabre, you can visit Windows Phone Purchase History page to see and reinstall the apps that you have before the reset.
Also, you can use Lumia System Updater  app to see which system apps requires an update.
    The silence will fall

  • Problem After 1.52.02 Firmware Upgrade

I have a BEFW11S4 v4 wireless router.  I am frequently having to reset my router after the firmware upgrade to 1.52.02.  I have had this router for years and have had very few problems.  After the firware update,  I am constantly losing my connection to the internet.  If I unplug the router and plug it back in,  it works fine.  This happens to me several time a day sometimes.  I would go back to an older version of firmware if one were available.  Anyone else having this problem ?  Anyone have a solution ?

Don't go with the older firmware version, try to hard reset your router...
Press and hold the reset button for 45 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 45 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...
You should also adjust the wireless settings on your router...
Wireless connections are often caused by radio interference from other 2.4 GHz devices. This includes wireless phones, wireless baby monitors, microwave ovens, wireless mice and keyboards, wireless speakers, and your neighbor's wireless network. In rare cases, Bluetooth devices can interfere. Even some 5+ GHz phones also use the 2.4 Ghz band. Unplug these devices, and see if that corrects your problem.
In your router, try a different channel. There are 11 channels in the 2.4 GHz band. Usually channel 1, 6, or 11 works best. Check out your neighbors, and see what channel they are using. Because the channels overlap one another, try to stay at least +5 or -5 channels from your strongest neighbors. For example, if you have a strong neighbor on channel 9, try any channel 1 through 4.
Also, try to locate the router about 4 to 6 feet above the floor, in an open area. Do not locate it behind your monitor or near other computer equipment or speakers...

  • Saved passwords / certificates gone after running Migration Assitant

After running and subsequently aborting Migration Assistant on my Mac (migration failed on the other side due to lack of disk space, so it was all aborted), Firefox has lost all certificates and all saved passwords.
Restoring the entire profile directory from a Time Machine backup has had no effect, the data is simply gone.
Is there any way to recover this?

'''''The following doesn't add much to the above, but I'll leave it here anyway.'''''
When you say you ran the Troubleshooter, I'm not sure exactly what you did. Did you use the Safe Mode dialog? Some checkboxes on that dialog do clear settings as noted by their description.
If you do the following, can you find any additional Firefox settings folders (AKA profile folders):
Help > Troubleshooting Information > Show Folder
In the Windows Explorer window, navigate up one level. If you see multiple folders, your settings might be safely stored in a different folder.

  • Disk locked after remote wipe

    Hi,
I have a MacBook Pro 13 in with cd I got 2 years ago. I remote locked it and wiped it.
However, after I put in my code and attempted to reinstall mountain lion over Internet. It tells me that the hd and the recover disks are locked.
I can't seem to go further.   What can I do do unlock the disk(s) so I can install mountain lion over Internet.
    I don't have the CDs
    Thanks.

If you bought it 2 years ago then it came with OS X Snow Leopard Pre-Installed and it also came with System Reinstall Discs. You'll need to find them or order a new set from Apple. Although your model has the ability it use the Online Internet Recovery system it will never work using that as it did not come with Lion Pre-Installed and that system is basically only for Mac's that came with either Lion or Mt Lion Pre-Installed. All other system need the original System Reinstall Discs.
Or you could take it to an Apple store and see what they can do for you.

  • Master Password prompt gone after deinstalling KeeFox

I recently installed KeePass & KeeFox but eventually ended up deinstalling them.
Ever since, if I go to a website that had the AutoFill feature before, the Master Password prompt won't show up anymore. Is there anyway to make it show up again if I visit a site with a password field and a saved password?

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • IPhone 3G turns into iBrick after 2.2.1 firmware upgrade.

I've tried downgrading to 2.2, hard resetting and resetting my network settings, but I've still got no service. Is there a fix to this or is my iPhone bricked and in need of replacement?

Do a restore in iTunes but don't install your backup. If the restore works by itself without the backup, it's something corrupt in the backup. If it still doesn't work, I'd suggest a visit to ATT for a new SIM. If your account is setup properly and a new SIM doesn't correct the issue, the next step is a trip to the Genius Bar - http://apple.com/retail/geniusbar

  • After having a device stolen I set up a remote wipe then changed my icloud password.

After having a device stolen I set up a remote wipe then changed my icloud password.
But now that device is no longer showing up in Find My iPhone. Is it still going to be erased?

It's fine if they get a fresh device it was an older I use iPod touch. What I'm worried about is any personal information like my synced contacts from two years ago. Will it still get erased if I activated an erase before changing my password? Even if it fell off the device list after the password change.
    1.) lost the device
    2.) activated an erase
    3.) changed password
    4.) device left the list
After all that will it still be erased?

  • Re-activating iPhone after remote Find iPhone wipe

    Hi,
I have found a bug with re-activating the iphone after a remote Find iPhone remote wipe.
I decided to test the remote wipe on Find iPhone to see how it all worked.
As soon as I hit the the wipe button and confirmed my request the iphone instantly started wiping clean. The process only took a few moments.
With iOS 7 it is supposed to prevent you re-activating the device without inputting your Apple Id credentials.
So I decided to attempy this. When you slide the bar to re-activate it takes you through the initial activation stages, selecting a language and WiFi network. So this goes ok until it realises my SIM card is locked (has a sim lock on it) Before the re-activation process will let you go any further it tells you the Sim card is locked. There is no apperent option to input your SIM PIN and as such you can't go any further.
So I tried removing the SIM card, then it wants you to put a sim card in. In short I can't get passed this screen now.
The simple answer would to be to put the SIM into another phone and remove the SIM PIN. However I don't have another compatible phone to do that.
Has anyone got any ideas? I have sumbitted to apple to report it as a bug.

I have a problem where my iCloud password/email is different from my apple ID and I canot access the email address for the one rhat says iCloud. I ham getting a new iPhone 5 on Monday so backed up this one then decided to wipe it. You cannot without logging into iCloud which needs the email address I have no access to. I then went onto iCloud.com and remotely wiped it with a view to restore (the other problem is my playlists are not sinming with the iPhone either although no error messages pop up). Now I too cannot unlock my SIM Pin or activate with iTunes or WIFI. Stuck and frankly, fed up!!!

  • Password policy not used by WebGate after upgrade (6.1 - 10g)

    Hello,
Recently, we upgrade our environment from Oblix Netpoint 6.1 to Oracle Access Manager 10g (10.1.4.0.1)
Together with this update we also upgraded the WebGates that are running on the machines that have OAM 10g installed. We did not perform an upgrade on the WebGates that are running on other web servers. These are still running with the old version.
The problem we have now is that it seems that our upgraded WebGates don't respect our Password policy. The earlier versions of our WebGate still respect our policy.
Machine A has OAM 10g installed with an upgraded WebGate (WebGate A). This machine also runs an IIS web server (web server A) which is connected to the WebGate on that machine. The WebGate is configured with OAM 10g on that same machine.
On web server A, there is a protected website.
Our password policy is defined as follow:
-number of login tries allowed: 5
    -lockout duration: 20000000 hours
    -login tries reset: 200 days
I now try to access my protected website on web server A with User1. Every time I enter a wrong password.
When I verify this in our Active Directory, I can see that the value of oblogintrycount for User1 increments until 5. When oblogintrycount equals 5, the attribute oblockouttime is added to the profile of User1.
My user is now supposed to be locked but when I try to login one more time, the value of oblogintrycount is 1 again and the attribute oblockouttime is gone. My user is unlocked again.
I repeat the same test on web server B that is installed on a different machine. This machine has an earlier version of WebGate installed. This WebGate B is configured with the same OAM 10g as WebGate A.
I can see in the Active Directory that the value of oblogintrycount for User1 is incremented until it equals 5. At this point, the oblockouttime attribute is added to the profile of User1.
I see now in my browser a message that my user is locked. When I try to login one more time, my user stays locked.
Has anyone an idea how this problem can be solved or how this can happen?
    Kind regards,
    Lennaart

This is just a trial and error suggestion may not actually solve the problem.
Can you check configuration changes that one has to make with upgraded web gates. That configuration may not be correct and hence you might be getting this problem.

    Hello fellow Apple Community users.
